The document summarizes a case study about a recruitment fiasco at CITPR Ltd. It discusses the major issues, measures that could have been taken to avoid embarrassment, serious omissions by those involved, and whether actions taken against them were justified. The key issues were not recruiting students as promised, lack of communication, and hasty decisions without evidence. Better communication and allowing students to pursue other opportunities may have helped. The recruitment manager made assumptions without confirmation and ignored messages. The placement officer did not allow students to seek other roles or inform officials on time. Firing the manager and reprimanding the officer were seen as justified responses to protect students, the company reputation, and college ties.

HRM case study on recruitment fiasco
1. HRM CASE STUDY ASSIGNMENT
Case Study on “The Recruitment Fiasco at CITPR Ltd”
Q1) Discuss the major issues highlighted in the case study.
ANS) The major issues highlighted in the case study are:
Not recruiting students of TTC college even after selecting them in selection process
Not allowing students to sit for other companies’ selection process even after not
getting formal joining letter by CITPR.
Lack of communication between CITPR employees
Forming hasty decisions without conclusive evidence by Mr. Swami of selecting
students from TTS College even after the vacancies were not there in the company.
Q2) In your opinion could Mr. D. Ganesh have taken some measures to avoid the
embarrassment caused to CITPR? Justify your option with relevant arguments.
ANS) In my opinion, D. Ganesh could have taken some measures to avoid the
embarrassment caused to CITPR.
1. He should have responded to the inquiry sent by Mr. Swami and should have
immediately taken actions on the issue.
2. He shouldn’t have blindly trusted Mr. Swami and should have asked him to wait and
not to depend on speculation. This would have delayed the recruitment process but
would have saved the goodwill of the company as well as carriers of the students.
3. He should have immediately informed the college about the fiasco and asked the
college to allow the students to sit for other companies’ selection process as well.
Q3) Elucidate the serious omissions by Mr. Swami related to the campus recruitment
drive at TTC College of Engineering and Management. Also list down the lapses
committed by Mr. Sampat (Placement officer, TTC).
ANS) Omissions by Mr. Swami
2. He selected students on the basis of speculation of increased vacancies in the future
which did not proved to be true.
He was ignoring Mr. Sampat’s messages and did not disclosed him the reason for not
recruiting the students until the end.
He did not wait for the response of Mr. Kapoor (vice president- product development)
to confirm the requirement of professionals to fill the vacancies for .NET professionals.
Omissions by Mr. Sampat
He did not allowed the students to sit in the selection drive of other companies even
after they did not receive official joining letter from CITPR.
He was late to inform the college director about the recruitment fiasco
Q4) Do you think the actions taken against Mr. Swami and Mr. Sampat were justified?
Substantiate your stance with reasons. (Focus on the task).
ANS) I think the actions taken against Mr. Swami and Mr. Sampat were justified.
For Mr. Swami, he was fired from the organization he behaved in a very unprofessional
manner as his decisions put the carriers of the students at stake, tarnished the
reputation of the organization and weakened their ties with TTC College.
For Mr. Sampat, his biggest mistake was not allowing the students to sit for other
companies’ selection drives and not taking concrete actions on time. This also spoiled
the goodwill of the college which may affect future admissions.
