1. SAY
I went blank during my non technical interview .
People told me that doing a Job was stressful and there is a heavy workload.
My college has a placement cell which invites companies to campuses but nothing more.
Even the best colleges have conducted an odd seminar or so in preparation for the company
recruitment.
The written tests in job interview were from course curriculum.so how is it different from a
graduate aptitude test?
People at office took me along to show me their work.
I do not feel fearful in the workplace.
Colleges can conduct mock interviews and prepare us for the actual interviews.
If I had know a senior, he would have apprised me about the Job interviews.
In the company, it was for the first time that I saw how the principles of mechanical engineering
could be applied.

2. THINK
College- industry interaction is absent in many colleges.
Placement cells alone without job orientation training in colleges are ineffective.
Some students who know a network of seniors are aware of the job interviewing process while
the others suffer from lack of it.
The recent recession had unnerved students who seemed to be bracing themselves for a full year
of unemployment
Companies that come to college campuses do so looking at the college reputation.
Students were not prepared to face Human resource (HR)interviews while being
relatively good with technical questions.
All the companies that conducted campus interviews followed an established process of
recruiting.
The questions asked by the interviewers were text book based and often seemed pointless and
were not job oriented.

3. FEEL
The stakeholder had a very pleasant first day at work. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Everyone at work were eager to show how work was done.
Well known companies seem to know the needs of new recruits and handle it effectively.
The culture of subordination in the modern workplace is breaking down.
The stakeholder was not apprised of the role he would play or the tasks he would perform in the
company for which he was being trained.
College provides broad based theoretical learning (example -
thermodynamics)but very few concepts could be used in doing practical projects
(example - integrated circuits)

4. PROBLEM STATEMENT
Stakeholder
An academically strong, cheerful, forward
looking mechanical engineer who is
confident about his career
Needs a way to prepare graduates like him to
be better equipped for facing interviews and
be industry-ready
because the current system (colleges, companies) is
inadequate to provide them with skills required to
enter the Job market
with confidence.
