17 soldiers killed in
one of the deadliest
attacks on Indian Army
Uri: Militants attacked an
Indian Army brigade
headquarters in Jammu
and Kashmir’s Uri on
Sunday, killing 17 soldiers
in the most deadly such
attack in the northern
region of Kashmir in
recent years.
Four militants were con-
firmed killed after pene-
trating the base in Uri
near the Lin e of Control
with Pakistan, an army
spokesperson said. The
attack began at 5.30am in
the morning and militants
breached the perimeter
fence to enter the camp.
Jammu and Kashmir gov-
ernor NN Vohra and chief
minister Mehbooba Mufti
chaired a high-level meet-
ing at Raj Bhavan in
Srinagar to review the
security situation.The
governor observed that in
the background of the
Poonch and Uri terror
attacks, it was of crucial
importance to enhance
surveillance on the securi-
ty of all vital civil and mili-
tary establishments in the
state. Security has been
beefed up in Himachal
Pradesh and an alert
sounded following the ter-
rorist attack. BJP’s Ram
Madhav says Western
countries have recog-
nized the fact that most of
the global terror has been
emerged for Pak
Defence minister
Manohar Parrikar said he
reviewed the situation in
Kashmir following the Uri
attack. “Instructed to take
firm action against those
responsible,” he tweeted.
An alert has been sound-
ed in Punjab’s border dis-
tricts of Pathankot and
Gurdaspur. Tight vigil is
being maintained near
key installations including
the Pathankot airforce
base, which came under
attack by militants earlier
this year, and near India-
Pakistan border areas.

Loneliness is that phase
which we all face once's in
our life. Everyone thinks it
is a bad phase which dis-
appoints us. But if we
changed our attitude
towards this. Then this is
that phase of our life in
which a person knows his
real inner power and takes
correct decision. Many
person comes in our life,
stay with us for a certain
time and then leave us
alone , still this is the only
thing which stay with us
even that time when
nobody is with you
.Loneliness doesn't
means that you are alone
it simply mean that you
need some space to
understand yourself. Even
lots of person who get
success in their
life..behind their success
is their's loneliness.
Soonly you will find some
positive changes in your-
self which changes the
direction of your life.
Loneliness
Ashok Tyagi
Presently we are passing
through the most challenging
phase of human history. On
one hand we have the mar-
vels of science and technolo-
gy topped by the Internet,
which promise a fulfilling and
enjoyable life, and on the
other hand we have bigots of
religion and theology who are
threatening the continuation
of life itself. Are we going to
support science and technol-
ogy and ensure a golden
future for ourselves or are we
going to cling to our outdated
faiths and commit global sui-
cide?
We can only evade this ques-
tion by behaving like an
ostrich but even that cannot
prevent our impending doom.
We can only prevent our
doom by coming out of the
slumber that our faiths have
put us into. By awakening our
consciousness, by question-
ing everything that our faiths
have lulled us into believing
as the gospel truth. We are
born into this world as a coin-
cidence and do not remem-
ber where we were before we
were born. Therefore most
likely we will not remember
our present life even if we
continue to exist as some
alternative form of life after
we die. Therefore our whole
energy must be focused on
the present moment and our
only goal should be to make
life as free, as fulfilling and as
enjoyable as possible. We
human beings have been on
this Earth for one million
years but it is only now in the
21st Century that we are
capable of giving ourselves
freedom, fulfillment, enjoy-
ment and longevity. Our life in
jungle was like hell. We were
the weakest species sur-
rounded by the most fero-
cious animals but somehow
we survived.
Then we discovered agricul-
ture around ten thousand
years ago and started graz-
ing animals and tilling fields.
We built villages and cities.
Gave birth to civilization,
which was a movement away
from the jungle and its ways
of living. But even two thou-
sand five hundred years ago
the first Nobel truth of
Buddha was – Life is sorrow.
But today if you are living in
an air-conditioned house,
driving an air-conditioned car,
working in an air-conditioned
office on an Apple laptop and
having a data-packed i-
phone in your fist, is life still
sorrow?
For the first time in the mil-
lion-year-old story of man life
has ceased to be sorrow.
There is medical science to
take care of our health and
longevity. There are airplanes
to cover long distances.
There are air-conditioned
trains like Rajdhanis and
Shatabdis for inter-city travel
and Olas and Metros for
intra-city travel. People have
four wheelers and two wheel-
ers. The streets are always
jammed. The mobile in our
hands is like the Aladin ka
chirag. But until very recently
life was sorrow and various
religions emerged promising
deliverence from sorrow.
They all promised deliver-
ance from sorrow but after
death and even for that con-
ditions applied.
These conditions included
what God we will worship,
where we will worship, how
we will worship, when we will
worship. We called these
conditions our religion and
we were asked to be pre-
pared to lay down our lives
anytime for the sake of our
religion.
Millions of lives were laid.
Billions of sacrifices were
made. But life remained sor-
row. No body returned after
dying to tell us what heaven –
liberation from sorrow –
looked like. God knows who
worshipped the real God and
who worshipped the false
God but finally liberation from
sorrow came. Not from God
but from Science. Till today
nobody worships science but
it goes on showering its
blessings on us through tech-
nological improvement. If we
wish to enjoy these blessings
then we have to start looking
at science as the arm of God.
As God is formless therefore
to bless this world of form He
has to assume a form and
Science is that form.
God is Science
In my previous edition, I highlighted the criminal activities of criminal don turned politi-
cian Shahbuddin. In this edition, let’s explore his political journey, which sees upstairs
with the help of Lalu Prasad Yadav until Nitish Kumar snatched the CM post from the
former. Shahbuddin has committed many political murders, whosoever tried to fight
against him in elections.
In the early 1990s, Shahabuddin came into political limelight, joining the Janata Dal
youth wing under Lalu Prasad Yadav. He won the 1990 and 1995 elections to the
Vidhan Sabha (state legislative assembly), and was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996
on the JD ticket, after which he grew in stature. With Lalu Prasad holding sway over
the then state government of Bihar, and the formation of the Rashtriya Janata Dal in
1997, Shahabuddin’s power increased dramatically.
The patronage and defacto immunity from legal action offered to him by the RJD gov-
ernment gradually made him a law unto himself giving him an aura of invincibility. Since
the police turned a blind eye to his criminal activities and allowed him to turn Siwan dis-
trict into his fiefdom where his fiat ran, Shahabuddin’s reign of terror was so complete
that nobody dared to depose against him in cases. Shahabuddin became extremely
arrogant against the police and other govt. bodies, slapping and shooting policemen at
will. In March 2001, the police were executing a warrant on Mr. Manoj Kumar “Pappu”,
the president of the local RJD unit, when Shahabuddin objected and slapped the
arresting officer Sanjiv Kumar, while his men beat up the police. The police then re-
grouped in strength and a pitched battle was launched on Shahabuddin’s house.
In the extensive fire exchange that followed, two policemen and eight others were
killed, with three AK-47s and other weapons being found near several of the deceased.
Shahabuddin and his men escaped, setting fire to three police jeeps, and firing contin-
uously to cover their movements. Neither Shahabuddin nor Manoj Kumar could be
arrested. After this episode, several more cases were filed against Shahabuddin; how-
ever, he could not be arrested. By the early 2000s, Shahabuddin was running a paral-
lel administration in Siwan, holding “kangaroo courts” to settle family and land disputes,
fixing doctors’ consultancy fees, and arbitrating on marital problems. Vivid descriptions
of Shahabuddin’s style of operation were reported in the media in the run-up to the
2004 elections.
In late 2003, eight months before the 2004 general elections, Shahabuddin was arrest-
ed on charges of abducting a CPI(ML) worker in 1999, who was never seen again.
Instead of staying in prison, he managed to get himself shifted to the Siwan hospital on
medical grounds. There, a complete floor was set aside for him to meet party workers,
organizing political meeting etc. His bodyguards were there to check people before
entering on the floor.
Don Mohammad Shahabuddin part-2 The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has grabbed headlines for all the
wrong reasons. Whether it is an internal rift, clash of ideas,
blame game or to command others in the party, the party has
shown it is undergoing a crisis after coming to power in Delhi.
Since it existence, AAP always courted controversy for some
or the other reason. Indian’s old political parties were shaken
from the root, while people were looking out for an option.
They came as an alternative. Arvind Kejriwal becomes larger
than life. However, now party workers are leaving him and
started ‘teri kameez meri kameez se safed kaise’ attitude. BJP
and Congress could not take the success of this party. ‘Hue &
cry’ and AAP walk hand in hand.
Devinder Kumar Sehrawat, a rebel AAP MLA, who is repre-
senting the Bijwasan constituency created storm on social
media. Sehrawat said he wrote various letters to Kejriwal,
including one on ‘exploitation of women’, but all remained
unanswered. The AAP activist allegedly committed suicide in
Narela area of north-west Delhi claiming that she had gone
into depression after her alleged molester, a party colleague
identified as Ramesh Bhardwaj, was released on bail. The
woman who consumed poison at her residence died during
treatment at Delhi’s LNJP Hospital. Sehrawat, alleges that
Kejriwal was aware of the harassment Soni was going
through. I don’t know why, but if AAP is bad and ruthless then
why Seharawat has not tendered his resignation from the
party? Why he was quiet and now suddenly come up when
AAP is going through turbulence?
It all started with Kumar Vishwas, he was summoned after an
AAP volunteer from Amethi accused him of ignoring her
request to clarify on the allegations of ‘illicit affair’ between the
two. Sources in the AAP said the poet-turned-politician has
decided to defy summon by the DCW. Anyhow, Kumar got
clean chit in allegations. There was an on-going tussle
between Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb
Jung regarding the handling of government files. The LG has
directed all ministers and officials of the Delhi government to
refer to him all files on various issues as is stipulated under the
Constitution.

New Delhi: A major step in bridging the lack
of dialogue between the doctor community,
hospitals, legal professionals, and policy
makers was taken yesterday at 2nd National
Convention on Medicine & Law – 2016
organised by the Institute of Medicine & Law
(IML). Subsequently a white paper recom-
mending legal reforms in health care was
released today, which will be submitted to
policy makers and regulators.
The document exhaustively discusses and
highlights several medico-legal issues
including the need for a new law recognis-
ing declaration or certification of Brain Stem
Death as a form of death under Uniform
Determination of Death Act, a law to enable
doctors to refuse treatment or admission in
case of 'futility of care', to legally recognize
Living Wills / Advance Directives / DNR
Instructions among others.
“India is witnessing a sharp rise in cases of
medical negligence in courts along with
cases of violence against doctors and hos-
pitals. These indicate a systemic failure and
breakdown of trust between doctors and
patients. A soft regulatory framework, unre-
alistically high expectations of patients, and
the peculiar socio-economic character of
the nation further compound the issue. This
does not augur well for a developing coun-
try like India and the convention hopes to
bring apprise Policy makers and regulators
about these contentious issues and recom-
mend changes required in the legal and reg-
ulatory framework,” says Advocate
Mahendrakumar Bajpai, keynote speaker at

German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that the
European Union faces a “critical situation”, as she
arrived in Bratislava for a summit to chart a post-Brexit
future.
“We are in a critical situation. We have to show with our
actions that we can get better,” Merkel told reporters.
Merkel said the bloc had to improve “in the domain of
security, internal and external security, the fight against
terrorism, the cooperation in the field of defence.”
She added that the EU had to “get better in the issues of
growth and jobs.”
Twenty-seven EU leaders are meeting — without Britain

A suicide bomber blew
himself up inside a mosque
packed with worshippers
for Friday prayers, killing at
least 16 people and injur-
ing 35 others in Mohmand
Agency in Pakistan’s
restive northwest tribal
region.
The attacker blew himself
when the prayers was in
progress at the mosque in
the Anbar tehsil of the
agency bordering
Afghanistan.
“It was a suicide blast,” a
local official said. At least
16 people were killed in the
attack, local media report-
ed, citing officials.
“Many people were gath-
ered inside the mosque
when a suicide bomber
blew himself up,” an eye-
witness said.
Rescue teams and police
rushed to the spot. The
bodies and the injured are
being shifted to local hospi-

Injured were also trans-

A Swedish appeals court upheld an arrest
warrant for WikiLeaks founder Julian
Assange over a 2010 rape accusation,
rejecting his request to have it lifted.
The court announced in a statement that
Assange “is still detained in absentia”,
adding that it “shares the assessment of
the (lower) district court that Julian
Assange is still suspected on probable
cause of rape and that there is a risk that
he will evade legal proceedings or a
penalty.”
The 45-year-old Australian has been
holed up in the Ecuadoran embassy in
London since June 2012, seeking refuge
there after exhausting all his legal options
in Britain against extradition to Sweden.
Assange has refused to travel to
Stockholm for questioning over the rape
allegation, which he denies, due to con-
cerns Sweden will extradite him to the
United States over WikiLeaks’ release of
500,000 secret military files on the wars in
Afghanistan and Iraq.
This is the eighth time the European
arrest warrant has been tested in a
Swedish court. All of the rulings have
gone against him.
The appeals court said Assange’s four-
year embassy sequestration “is not a dep-
rivation of liberty and shall not be given
any importance in its own right in the
assessment of proportionality.”
The length of his embassy stay and “the
earlier passivity” of police investigators
were “arguments for setting aside the
detention,” it noted.
“However, the relatively serious offence of
which he is suspected means that there is
a strong public interest (in) the investiga-
tion being able to continue.”
“At present, continued detention therefore
appears to be both effective and neces-
sary so as to be able to move the investi-
gation forward. The reasons for detention
therefore still outweigh the intrusion or
other detriment that the measure entails
for Julian Assange.” Swedish prosecutor
Marianne Ny hailed the decision.

China is willing to join hands with India to implement
the consensus reached by the leaders of the two coun-

exchanges, and properly handle sensitive issues in
order to push forward the development of bilateral ties
in the right direction and promote Asia’s development

said both countries have to be sensitive to strategic
interests and promote positive convergences and pre-

Edward Snowden, a former CIA contractor who leaked classified government docu-
ments is not a whistleblower, but someone who risked national security and American
lives, the White House said, dimming his hopes of a presidential pardon from Barack
Obama before he demits office.
“There actually is a specific process that is well-established and well-protected that
allows whistleblowers to raise concerns that they have, particularly when it relates to
confidential or classified information, to do so in a way that protects the national secu-
rity secrets of the US. That is not what Snowden did,” Press Secretary Josh Earnest
said. “Edward Snowden is not a whistleblower,” Earnest said.
“His conduct put American lives at risk and it risked American national security. That is
why the policy of the Obama administration is that Snowden should return to the US
and face the very serious charges that he is facing,” he told reporters.

not just a depiction of the cricketer’s life story but also an inspiring tale of hardwork and suc-
cess.
The 30-year-old actor, who essays the role of the cricket star in MS Dhoni : The Untold Story,
said Dhoni’s life story is about believing in your dream. “We are punctuating the belief Dhoni
had in himself. There was not even an iota of doubt that if this thing doesn’t happen, then there
is a plan B. One should not dream or work to achieve something to get a high status in socie-
ty. “You work for your dream because that’s the only thing that drives you. That’s the only thing
that keeps you awake for that extra five minutes and wakes you up five minutes early in the
morning,” Sushant said during a session at an event.

11. Mumbai: The Congress on Sunday said
that poor co-ordination between various
departments of the Maharashtra govern-
ment is responsible for the huge number of
children dying in the state due to malnutri-
tion. “There is a Tribal Welfare Minister,
Child Welfare Ministry, Health Department
and Education ministry in Maharashtra
which should have come together and
worked, but there is no coordi-
nation between these depart-
ments. Due to this lack of
coordination such incidents
take place,” said Husain
Dalwai, Rajya Sabha MP from
Congress. As per reports, in
Palghar district more than
4000 children are suffering
from malnutrition and around
600 have already died because of it. In a
recent incident, a child named Sagar Wagh
died due to malnutrition, and when the
Bharatiya Janata Party leader and the Tribal
Development Minister for the Government
of Maharashtra, Vishnu Sawra, finally took
notice and went to visit the home of the
deceased after 15 days, he had to face the
anger of the tribe.

Bangalore: "Since the start
of the trial last year, only 14 of
the 240 witnesses have been
examined so far". The
National Investigation Agency
(NIA) special court, on Friday,
sentenced all 13 members of
Lashker-E-Toiba (LeT) and
Harkat-ul-Jihad-E-Islami, who
had plotted to kill politicians,
police officers and journalists,
to five years imprisonment,
besides levying a fine.
According to the National
Investigation Agency (NIA),
BJP Lok Sabha members,
Pratap Simha and Prahlad
Joshi, editor of Kannada
Prabha Vishveswara Bhat,
senior police officials B
Dayananda, DM
Krishnamraju and Nyame
Gowda, and Bajrang Dal
leader Ganu Jartarkar were
on the hit list. The accused,
who have been charged
under several sections of the
Indian Penal Code and
Unlawful Activities
(Prevention) Act, including
conspiracy and being part of
a terrorist gang and under
Arms Act, pleaded guilty on
Thursday before the NIA spe-
cial court. The Central Crime
Branch (CCB) sleuths of
Bengaluru in the year 2012,
received a tip off that the
accused had hatched a con-
spiracy to kill important per-
sonalities in Bengaluru and
Hubballi and disturb commu-
nal harmony. After arresting
them, the CCB sleuths seized
the illegal firearms and
ammunition from them. A
case was registered in
Basaveshwaranagar police
station, following which it was
transferred to the NIA. The
NIA, after questioning over
300 witnesses, filed a detailed
chargesheet.
Despite the special terrorism
court stating that a guilty plea
would have adverse conse-
quences on their personal
records, the men stuck to
their decision. The judge,
Muralidhar Pai, recorded the
guilty plea after speaking to
each of them in private to
ascertain their reasons.
The men faced charges of
criminal conspiracy, promot-
ing enmity between different
groups, unlawful activities,
membership of a terrorist
organisation and illegal pos-
session of arms. Twelve of
them were arrested in
Bengaluru, between August
29 and September 1, 2012
were also accused of conspir-
ing to target leaders of
Hindutva groups and a jour-
nalist backing such groups in
Bengaluru.
The NIA filed a chargesheet
against them on November
25, 2012 under IPC Sections
120B read with Section 153 A
and Section 399. They were
also charged under Section
18 of the Unlawful Activities
(Prevention) Act, 1967 read
with Sections 10,13,17, and
38, as well as under the Arms
Act 1959 (Section 3 read with
Section 25).
The 13 convicted who have
pleaded guilty by the NIA
Special Court have been
idenitified as, Shoaib Ahmed
Mirza, 27, a computer appli-
cations degree holder, Abdul
Hakeem Jamadar, 30, Riyaz
Ahmed Byahatti, 32,
Mohammad Akram, 27,
Ubedullah Bahadur, 28,

Rehman, 26, an undergradu-
ate student, Dr Nayeem
Siddique, 32, Dr Imran
Ahmed, 30 and Syed
Tanzeem Ahmed, 27.
One of them, Ubedullah
Bahadur, accused under sec-
tions of the Official Secrets
Act 1923, after “confidential
information about deployment
of military and armed forces’’
and space, atomic energy,
and defence agencies was
reportedly found on his lap-
top,has also pleaded guilty to
the additional charge of spy-
ing.
Three others, a journalist, a
junior scientist at DRDO, and
a daily wage earner, were dis-
charged from the case. Eight
other accused persons are
absconding, including the
alleged main perpetrators of
the plot. Most of them are
suspected to be in Pakistan,
while one, Dr Sabeel Ahmed,
33, is awaiting deportation
from Saudi Arabia.
One accused, Asadullah
Khan, 52, was deported from
Saudi Arabia in December
2015 and his trial is yet to
commence.
Dr Sabeel Ahmed,
Mohammed Shaheed Faisal
alias Ustad, 32, and a veteran
LeT man Farhatullah Ghori,
51,all absconding were also
named in a recruitment plot of
the Al Qaeda in the Indian
Subcontinent by the Delhi
Special Cell in May 2016.
According to the NIA
chargesheet, a number of
Indian youths were enticed to
join the terror outfit in 2010-11
by a group of LeT-linked oper-
atives based in Saudi Arabia.
Two of them, Abdul Hakeem
Jamadar and Dr Zafar Iqbal
Sholapur, also travelled to
Pakistan via Iran, between
December and January 2011,
with the intention “of going to
Afghanistan to join the Taliban
to fight against American and
NATO forces’’. But
Farhathullah Ghori, based in
Karachi and wanted in the
Akshardham attack case,
convinced them to focus on
India. In Karachi, the duo
“met some senior ISI officials’’
and LeT operatives, accord-
ing to the chargesheet.
“These ISI officials motivated
them to collect intelligence
and carry out espionage
activities for them in India,’’
the NIA told Media persons.
