Malik defeated
Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu
Tynybekova in the 58-kilo-
gram freestyle in a thrilling
bout, making a comeback
in the final seconds to win
8-5. At one point early in
the match she trailed 5
points to none.
After winning, Malik hoist-
ed an Indian flag aloft and
jogged around the arena
before sinking to the mat in
joy. Tynybekova protested
a late call and had to be
coaxed to the center of the
mat to acknowledge the
result.
After winning India's first
medal (bronze) here at the
Rio Olympics, woman
wrestler Sakshi Malik told it
was the result of her 12
years of hard work.
"Meri 12 saal ki tapasya
safal hui (My 12 years' of
hard work have borne
fruit)," a beaming Sakshi
told media Persons.
The triumph makes Malik
the first Indian to win a
medal in women’s
wrestling.

Theate is a collaborative
form of fine art that uses
live performers, typically
actors or actresses, to
present the experience of a
real or imagined event
before a live audience in a
specific place, often a
stage. The performers may
communicate this experi-
ence to the audience
through combinations of
gesture, speech, song,
music, and dance.
Elements of art, such as
painted scenery and stage-
craft such as lighting are
used to enhance the phys-
icality, presence and imme-
diacy of the experience.
The specific place of the
performance is also named
by the word "theatre" as
derived from the Ancient
Greek.
Modern Western theatre
comes, in large measure,
from ancient Greek drama,
from which it borrows tech-
nical terminology, classifi-
cation into genres, and
many of its themes, stock
characters, and plot ele-
ments. Theatre artist
Patrice Pavis defines the-
atricality, theatrical lan-
guage, stage writing, and
the specificity of theatre as
synonymous expressions
that differentiate theatre
from the other performing
arts, literature, and the arts
in general.
Modern theatre, broadly
defined, includes perform-
ances of plays and musical
theatre. There are connec-
tions between theatre and
the art forms of ballet,
opera (which uses staged,
costumed performances
with singing and orchestral
accompaniment) and vari-
ous other forms.
The first form of Indian the-
atre was the Sanskrit the-
atre. It began after the
development of Greek and
Roman theatre and before
the development of theatre
in other parts of Asia. It
emerged sometime
between the 2nd century
BCE and the 1st century
CE and flourished between
the 1st century CE and the
10th, which was a period of
relative peace in the histo-
ry of India during which
hundreds of plays were
written. Japanese forms of
Kabuki, Nō, and Kyōgen
developed in the 17th cen-
tury CE. Theatre in the
medieval Islamic world
included puppet theatre
(which included hand pup-
pets, shadow plays and
marionette productions)
and live passion plays
known as ta'ziya, where
actors re-enact episodes
from Muslim history. In par-
ticular, Shia Islamic plays
revolved around the sha-
heed(martyrdom) of Ali's
sons Hasan ibn Ali and
Husayn ibn Ali. Secular
plays were known as
akhraja, recorded in
medieval adab literature,
though they were less
common than puppetry
and ta'ziya theatre
March 20th is World
Theater for Children and
Young People Day, some
of you might be thinking,
"Oh lord, why do we need
a day to celebrate actors

Twenty three-year-old Malik defeated Kyrgyzstan’s
Aisuluu Tynybekova in the 58-kilogram freestyle in a
thrilling bout, making a comeback in the final seconds to
win 8-5. At one point early in the match she trailed 5
points to none. After winning, Malik hoisted an Indian flag
aloft and jogged around the arena before sinking to the
mat in joy. Tynybekova protested a late call and had to
be coaxed to the center of the mat to acknowledge the
result. After winning India's first medal (bronze) here at
the Rio Olympics, woman wrestler Sakshi Malik told it
was the result of her 12 years of hard work.
"Meri 12 saal ki tapasya safal hui (My 12 years' of hard
work have borne fruit)," a beaming Sakshi told media
Persons. The triumph makes Malik the first Indian to win
a medal in women’s wrestling.
“India’s daughter has ended the country’s dry run at Rio,”
a woman said ,what was described as Malik’s family
reacting to her win. Malik’s win will no doubt be a huge
relief for the Indian government, since most of the coun-
try’s Olympic medal hopefuls were already out of the
Games. India sent its largest-ever contingent to a
Games, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting with
members to show his support for the squad before the
competition kicked off. India has been participating in the
Olympics since the beginning of the 20th century, but has
won just 26 medals, despite its more than 1.2 billion pop-
ulation. The last time India failed to win any medals at the
Olympics was 24 years ago, when the Games were held
in Barcelona, Spain. Everyone's talking about her. Sakshi
Malik has ended India’s agonising wait for an Olympic
medal at the Rio Games with a bronze medal in the 58kg
category. Wishes have started pouring in from all quar-
ters for the Rohtak wrestler, who also scripted history by
becoming the first woman wrestler from India to bag an
Olympic medal and only fourth female athlete from the
country to climb up the podium at the biggest sporting
event. Sportspersons, politicians and actors took to
Twitter to convey their wishes and greetings.President

Amnesty International Unlikely To Get Permission To Set Up South Asian Hub In India.
Police today resorted to a ‘mild’ lathicharge to disperse ABVP activists staging a protest
in front of the Amnesty International India office, demanding the arrest of those who
allegedly raised ‘anti-India’ slogans at an Amnesty event. Several ABVP activists were
injured, with a girl student fainting in the commotion before she was rushed to a hos-
pital, police said, adding that they detained many activists during the crackdown on the
protest.
The protesters alleged that the police, under the DCP's leadership, behaved in an
‘inhuman’ way and more than ten ABVP activists were injured in the lathicharge.
Calling their protest ‘peaceful’, ABVP national general secretary, Vinay Bidre, told
media persons that, “We demanded that police vacate the Amnesty staff who were
recording our protest from their office. We told police we won’t cause any harm to them.
We did not try to barge into their premises and tried to burn Amnesty’s effigy, but police
unnecessarily used force on us.”
He accused the Congress-led Karnataka government and police of protecting those
involved in anti-national sloganeering.
Stating that ABVP would continue its protest, Bidre claimed, “We will intensify our
protest across the state after today’s atrocity, we will show this government student
power.” Additional commissioner of police East, P. Harishekaran who rushed to spot
after the protestors turned violent and tried to barge forcefully after breaking the barri-
cades and pushing the police officers to disperse protesters we have resorted mild
laticharge as they tried to burn an effigy in a residential area.
“With two bottles of petrol they tried to burn an effigy in front of Amnesty International
here. We had, in prior, warned them against any effigy burning, as it is a residential
area and so posed a security concern, and In this incident, 5 policemen were injured
and 6 protestors were also injured.
A case has been registered in this regard in Crime No. 309/2016 U/s 353, 143, 144,
427, 435, 511 r/w 149 IPC in Indiranagara Police Station. Around 22 agitators were
detained and have been released on self bail. Armed pickets and police bandobust is
continued at the Amnesty International office he said .
As a precautionary step, police have asked Amnesty International India to keep its
office in Bengaluru closed until the ABVP protest subsides, following which the organ-
isation had asked its employees to work from other locations. Amnesty International
had on Saturday organised the event as part of a campaign to seek justice for ‘victims
of human rights violations’ in Jammu and Kashmir, which took an ugly turn with heat-
ed exchanges and alleged raising of pro-Kashmir ‘Independence’ and anti-Army slo-
gans.

Coming down heavily on
Pakistan for supporting
ISIS, former Afghan pres-
ident Hamid Karzai on
Sunday said the terrorists
cannot be divided into
categories of acceptable
or not-acceptable as they
are all bad.
“When they cause harm
to people, to citizens, to
society, they are bad and
this is how you should
treat them,” he said.
Karzai, who was the pres-
ident of Afghanistan from
2001-2014, also agreed
with the fact that Pakistan
was supporting the ISIS.
“We have no doubt about
that. We have evidence,
information coming to us
from our population that
deals the case,” he said.
When asked whether the
Indian military has any
role in Afghanistan, he
said, “I see a great role
for India in Afghanistan.
India has already been at
the forefront of
Afghanistan and to
Afghanistan people in
infrastructure, education,
development, building of
institutions of democracy

Iraq hanged 36 men convicted over the 2014 massacre
by Sunni jihadists and allied militants of hundreds of mil-
itary recruits, officials said.
They had been found guilty of involvement in the
“Speicher” massacre, named after a base near Tikrit
where up to 1,700 recruits were kidnapped before being
executed in a massacre claimed by the ISIS.
“The executions of 36 convicted over the Speicher crime
were carried out this morning in Nasiriyah prison,” a
spokesman for the governor’s office in Dhiqar, the
province of which Nasiriyah is the capital, said.
“The governor of Dhiqar, Yahya al-Nasseri and Justice
Minister Haidar al-Zamili were present to oversee the
executions,” Abdelhassan Dawood said.
“They were transferred to Nasiriyah last week after the
president approved the executions,” he said, referring to
the necessary green light from Fuad Masum.
Following the death of more than 300 people in the worst
ever single bomb attack to strike Baghdad last month,
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi had said he wanted to
expedite the execution of inmates sentenced to death in
terrorism cases.

Australians will head to the polls in February 2017 to vote
on legalising same-sex marriage.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is expected to inform
members of the Liberal National Party (LNP) of the new
timeline for the vote at a party meeting in September, offi-
cials said.
A February plebiscite on the issue would break Turnbull’s
election promise that the Australian people would vote on
the issue in 2016, Xinhua news agency reported.
A spokesperson for Turnbull said that a recommendation
from the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) warned
against holding the vote in 2016.
“The government has always said that a decision on
same-sex marriage will be made by a vote of all
Australians in a national plebiscite to be held as soon as
practicable,” the spokesperson said on Sunday.
The plebiscite would be a non-binding vote which would
ask voters “do you approve of a law to permit people of
the same sex to marry?”
A bill to legalise same-sex marriage in Australia would
then be introduced in parliament with MPs expected to
vote yes or no depending on how their electorate voted
on the plebiscite.
Conservative MPs from Turnbull’s LNP have already said
that they will be voting against the bill regardless of the
result of the plebiscite, prompting same-sex marriage
advocates to label the process as a waste of time and
money.
Opposition leader Bill Shorten is expected to launch a
last-minute bid to legalise same-sex marriage by intro-
ducing a bill to parliament in the coming weeks.

At least 50 people were killed in a southeastern
Turkish city close to Syria when a suspected suicide
bomber linked to Islamic State jihadists attacked a
wedding thronged with guests, officials said Sunday.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the IS
extremist group was the “likely perpetrator” of the
bomb attack in Gaziantep late Saturday that targeted a
celebration attended by many Kurds.
The explosion was the latest attack to rock the key
NATO member in a horrific year that has seen strikes
blamed on Kurdish and militants as well as a bloody
July 15 botched coup.
Gaziantep governor Ali Yerlikaya said in a statement
that 50 people had been killed, raising a previous toll
of 30. He had previously said 94 were wounded in “the
abhorrent terror bomb attack on a wedding”.
Erdogan said in a statement there was “no difference”
between the group of US-based preacher Fethullah
Gulen whom he blames for the failed coup bid, the out-
lawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) “and Daesh (IS),
the likely perpetrator of the attack in Gaziantep”.
“Our country and our nation have again only one mes-
sage to those who attack us — you will not succeed!”
he said.

7. Delhi: Fifth Set of Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs) was issued yesterday
clarifying certain issues relating to
Income Declaration Scheme,2016 (the
Scheme). Clarification has been sought
as to whether the answer number 4 of
the said FAQ shall apply to all assets
declared under the Scheme or it is limit-
ed to only immovable property.
As explained in the said answer, the
clarification was issued considering the
fact that investment in an immovable
property may be funded partially from
undisclosed and partially from disclosed
sources. In such cases, if
the property is sold in near
future, gains from part of the property
may be long term and the balance may
be short term. This shall cause undue
hardship to the declarant. Therefore, the
clarification issued relates only for deter-
mination of holding period of immovable
property. In view of the above, it is again
clarified that answer number 4 of the
said FAQ shall only be applicable for
determining holding period of an immov-
able property for which the date of
acquisition is evidenced by a deed regis-
tered with any authority of the State
Government.

Director: Mudassar Aziz
Cast: Diana Penty, Momal Shaikh,
Abhay Deol, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Shergill
Rating: 3.5 Stars (3.5 / 5)
Writer-Director Mudassar Aziz’s “Happy
Bhag Jayegi” is a loosely inspired,
Indian version of the Julia Roberts star-
rer, Hollywood film, “Runaway Bride”.
But unlike in the English film, the Punjabi
bride Harpreet Kaur aka Happy (Diana
Penty), in this romantic comedy, elopes
to marry the person she loves.
After being spotted romancing with her
college sweetheart Gurpreet Singh aka
Guddu (Ali Fazal), Happy is forced by
her father, essayed by Kanwaljit Singh,
to marry the local politician Daman
Singh Bagga (Jimmy Shergill).
But on her wedding day, the feisty
Happy leaves Bagga stranded at the
mandap, by jumping on to a truck, which
is supposed to take her to Guddu.
But instead of landing her, at her desti-
nation, Happy gets transported to the
residence of a reluctant politician Bilal
Ahmed (Abhay Deol) in Lahore,
Pakistan.
What follows is a series of manipulative
and contrived negotiations along with
situational scuffles that propel this tale
forward.
But what makes the film intriguing apart
from Happy’s impulsive instinct to run
away, is the fulfillment of her journey in a
country that is at cross-purpose with
India. This cross-border drama adds to
the excitement.
It is also the stimulating and realistic
performances that makes this film a treat
to watch. Diana Penty as the lively,
determined and bubbly girl, who would
do anything for love, is the surprise
package. She is simply natural and
impressive as she lives her character to
the tee.
Ali Fazal as Happy’s unsure love Guddu
and the Pakistani actress Momal Shaikh,
who plays Bilal Ahmed’s love interest,
are both notably striking.
Abhay Deol slips into the role of an
unenthusiastic son of an ambitious
politician with ease. And his presence
does not raise the bar of the film.
After a long time, Jimmy Shergill delivers
a performance of some substance. As
Bagga, he is rugged and stimulating.
Mudassar Aziz’s writing is fascinating.
His dialogues are packed with punch as
he plays with words, in Hindi and Urdu.
Also, the gags are taut, fresh and bril-
liantly inter-laid in the plot. The graph of
the narrative has its crests and trough
but never is there a moment of equilibri-
um. Also his climax, though a riot, does
not have the zing of a mad-caper.

Mumbai: Kareena
Kapoor Khan is not
starring in the fourth
instalment of hit
comedy franchise
‘Golmaal’ but the
actress, who was
seen in its previ-
ous two parts,
might do a spe-
cial song in
‘Golmaal 4’,
director Rohit
Shettyhas con-
firmed. The
filmmaker says
he didn’t feel it
was right to
a p p r o a c h
Kareena for
the lead role
in the upcom-
ing film as
she is
expecting her first child but he would like
to rope her for a small appearance.
“It would have been easy to call her and
tell her to do the film. She would have
said, ‘Let’s do it’. But I can’t do that
(referring to her pregnancy). I will
miss her for sure,” Rohit told PTI.
“I can’t talk to her (as she is preg-
nant) to do it (‘Golmaal 4’).
It’s odd. But let’s see we will
do a song or something with her
(for the movie).”
The fourth movie will go
on floors next January and
hit theatres during Diwali.
Kareena featured in the
second film ‘Golmaal
Returns’ and the third part
‘Golmaal 3’ of the Ajay Devgn-
starrer franchise. It was in July
this year, when Kareena’s actor
husband Saif Alif Khan confirmed
that his 35-year-old wife is pregnant.
The baby is due in December.

Bangalore: Amnesty
International Unlikely To
Get Permission To Set Up
South Asian Hub In India.
Police resorted to a ‘mild’
lathicharge to disperse
ABVP activists staging a
protest in front of the
Amnesty International
India office, demanding the
arrest of those who
allegedly raised ‘anti-India’
slogans at an Amnesty
event.
Several ABVP activists
were injured, with a girl stu-
dent fainting in the commo-
tion before she was rushed
to a hospital, police said,
adding that they detained
many activists during the
crackdown on the protest.
The protesters alleged that
the police, under the DCP's
leadership, behaved in an
‘inhuman’ way and more
than ten ABVP activists
were injured in the lath-
icharge.
Calling their protest
‘peaceful’, ABVP national
general secretary, Vinay
Bidre, told media persons
that, “We demanded that
police vacate the Amnesty
staff who were recording
our protest from their
office. We told police we
won’t cause any harm to
them. We did not try to
barge into their premises
and tried to burn Amnesty’s
effigy, but police unneces-
sarily used force on us.”
He accused the Congress-
led Karnataka government
and police of protecting
those involved in anti-
national sloganeering.
Stating that ABVP would
continue its protest, Bidre
claimed, “We will intensify
our protest across the state
after today’s atrocity, we
will show this government
student power.”
Additional commissioner of
police East, P.
Harishekaran who rushed
to spot after the protestors
turned violent and tried to
barge forcefully after
breaking the barricades
and pushing the police offi-
cers to disperse protesters
we have resorted mild
laticharge as they tried to
burn an effigy in a residen-
tial area. “With two bottles
of petrol they tried to burn
an effigy in front of
Amnesty International
here. We had, in prior,
warned them against any
effigy burning, as it is a res-
idential area and so posed
a security concern, and In
this incident, 5 policemen
were injured and 6 protes-
tors were also injured.
A case has been registered
in this regard in Crime No.
309/2016 U/s 353, 143,
144, 427, 435, 511 r/w 149
IPC in Indiranagara Police
Station. Around 22 agita-
tors were detained and
have been released on self
bail. Armed pickets and
police bandobust is contin-
ued at the Amnesty
International office he said
. As a precautionary step,
police have asked
Amnesty International
India to keep its office in
Bengaluru closed until the
ABVP protest subsides,
following which the organi-
sation had asked its
employees to work from
other locations. Amnesty
International had on
Saturday organised the
event as part of a cam-
paign to seek justice for
‘victims of human rights
violations’ in Jammu and
Kashmir, which took an
ugly turn with heated
exchanges and alleged
raising of pro-Kashmir
‘Independence’ and anti-
Army slogans.
ABVP activists had submit-
ted a CD containing video
recording of the event after
filing a complaint with
police, who have regis-
tered an FIR against
Amnesty International.
IPC sections 142 (being a
member of an unlawful
assembly), 143 (whoever
is a member of an unlawful
assembly), 147 (rioting),
124A (sedition), 153A (pro-
moting enmity between dif-
ferent groups on grounds
of religion, race, place of
birth, residence, language
and doing acts prejudicial
to maintenance of harmo-
ny) have been invoked
against the organisation.
Amnesty to media.
Sedition Has Become an
Easy Tool to Stifle Dissent:
Aakar Patel
The executive director of
Amnesty International
India responds to the
charges of “sedition” and
“promoting enmity” filed
against the organisation by
Bengaluru police on
Independence Day. A
spokesperson for the non-
profit said its 86 employees
had been asked to work
from home.
Earlier, Aakar Patel, the
head of Amnesty's India
division, told media per-
sons that the Centre need-
ed to uphold the freedom
of expression guaranteed
in the Indian Constitution.
He added that the sedition
law was being misused by
several state governments
to silence activists who are
critical of government poli-
cies.
Amnesty International
Unlikely To Get Permission
To Set Up South Asian Hub
In India. Amnesty
International had said that
it would not register under
the FCRA.
New Delhi: The govern-
ment is unlikely to grant
permission to Amnesty
International, slapped with
charge of sedition for host-
ing an event where anti-
India slogans were
allegedly raised, for open-
ing a hub in India to look
after its operations in
South Asia.

“India’s daughter has ended the country’s dry run at
Rio,” a woman said ,what was described as Malik’s fam-
ily reacting to her win.
Malik’s win will no doubt be a huge relief for the Indian
government, since most of the country’s Olympic medal
hopefuls were already out of the Games.
India sent its largest-ever contingent to a Games, with
Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting with members to
show his support for the squad before the competition
kicked off.
India has been participating in the Olympics since the
beginning of the 20th century, but has won just 26
medals, despite its more than 1.2 billion population.
The last time India failed to win any medals at the
Olympics was 24 years ago, when the Games were held
in Barcelona, Spain.Everyone's talking about her.
Sakshi Malik has ended India’s agonising wait for an
Olympic medal at the Rio Games with a bronze medal in
the 58kg category. Wishes have started pouring in from
all quarters for the Rohtak wrestler, who also scripted
history by becoming the first woman wrestler from India
to bag an Olympic medal and only fourth female athlete
from the country to climb up the podium at the biggest
sporting event. Sportspersons, politicians and actors
took to Twitter to convey their wishes and
greetings.President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi was among those early to wish her.
President Pranab Mukherjee also took to Twitter to the
