This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. How To Struggle In Laura Hillenbrand s Unbroken
The American olympian Gail Devers once said, Sometimes we fall, sometimes we stumble, but we
can t stay down. We can t allow life to beat us down. Everything happens for a reason, and it builds
character in us, and it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn t think we
could be that strong. In Laura Hillenbrand s biography Unbroken, the determination Louis Zamperini
possessed, personifies Gail Devers words when, Undoubtedly, Zamperini s will to survive helped him
reunite with his family after World War II, after he fought against the brutal and sadistic beatings he
endured in Japanese POW camps.
Quite an agitator in his adolescent years, Louie tried to find the proper path to success: He doled out

The fear of the POW prison camps still lurks in Louie s mind and every prisoner returning home. To
sooth their war torn minds and souls many veterans turned to alcohol for comfort;in fact, Louie was
one of those who turned to alcohol to ease his mind. Drinking made Louie violent and full of rage and
if life is going to get any better something had to change. Louie s determination like a presidential race
pushed him to overcome insurmountable obstacles and refused to admit defeat. One night Louie
attended a sermon and something clicked in Louie reminding him of a promise he made to God: If you
will save me, I will serve you forever (382). That night when Louie arrived home, He carried the
bottles to the kitchen sink, opened them, and poured their contents into the drain (383), this was the
beginning of the new and improved Louie. Later Louie created a camp to help young boys who ve
gone through the same experiences as him, such as getting into fist fights or creating trouble with the
law. When Louie wasn t with boys at camp he gave speeches of his experiences. As years passed
Louie was still climbing, running, and taking on new activities like skateboarding: When I get old, he

preferable over the other classes of antidepressants when treating minors and are also the first line

4. Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy Essay
The poem, Barbie Doll, written by Marge Piercy tells the story of a young girl growing up through the
adolescence stage characterized by appearances and barbarity. The author uses imagery and
fluctuating tone to describe the struggles the girl is experiencing during her teenage years, and the
affects that can happen. The title of this poem is a good description of how most societies expect
others, especially girls to look. Constantly, people are mocked for their appearance and expected to
represent a barbie doll like figure. Few are blessed with this description. The female gender is
positioned into the stereotype that women should be thin and beautiful. With this girl, the effects were
detrimental. The first stanza describes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s ironic that this particular word is used because puberty is actually a stage of emotional crisis . A
hurtful remark was made towards the child, and she was described as having a big nose and fat legs.
The second stanza also begins with the subdued tone mentioning the girls positive aspects, such as
being healthy...intelligent...strong. These specific details are usually related to the male. Once again,
the gender characteristics play as an underlying factor. These qualities were not good enough for a
woman if they were not beautiful. The stanza then takes a turn like the first turning away from the
simplicity. The girl went to and fro apologizing, while everyone still saw a fat nose on thick legs.
Society places women into the mold where they begin to put on a facade and apologize for their
misfortunes. In the third stanza, the girl was advised to play coy...(and) smile. Women are once again
pressured to act in a way that is unreal, like a barbie doll. The fan belt mention in this stanza is used as
imagery to describe how one s facade can wear out over time, as hers did. She cut off her nose and her
legs, in response to this. The character Nora in A Doll s House, is a perfect example of how women
are like dolls and do what they are told or what society expects of them. It is only in the last stanza
where the girl is dead and has consummation at last. She is finally given a compliment when someone

5 Simple Ways to Create Effective Copy For Your Website
A high quality website is an essential element of your business s digital marketing strategy, and the
copy used across your site and any associated social media pages will be key to your success.
Ineffective copy could cause potential customers to quickly click away, losing you business and
preventing your brand s message from being delivered. Make sure you give your customers a good
reason to stick around with these 5 simple tips.
1. Know your audience. Understanding who your audience is and how they speak is crucial to creating
the right tone for your web copy. For example, if your brand targets a younger demographic then a
more casual tone with current slang will work well, whereas an older audience may expect a more
formal tone that reflects their voice. Thorough market research will ensure that you know who your
audience is and what they want from your brand.
2. Make sure it s readable. Large blocks of texts, small fonts, and uncomfortable colour schemes will
all make your web copy less accessible for your reader. Bullet pointed lists, shorter paragraphs, clear
headings and a well designed page will keep your copy clean and readable at all times.
3. Opt for creative headlines. The headline is the bait you use to draw your audience in, so make sure
the copy is bold,

6. Rapper s Charm Analysis
The starting point of this analysis begins with the 1979 single Rapper s Delight by the Sugarhill Gang,
as it is the first rap song in history to peak in the Billboard Top 40 . During this time, many African
Americans in the Bronx were throwing block parties, thus the need for music that would be suitable
for these occasions . Hence, the theme of this hit single was on partying so it could complement
another form of hip hop: breakdancing. For example, The beat starts getting into your toes. You start
popping your fingers and stomping your feet. And moving your body while you re sitting in your seat.
And then damn you start doing the freak uses imagery, mixed in with the positive emotions given off
from the upbeat tempo to encourage the audience to dance to this song. Another example is the line,
But first, I gotta bang bang the boogie to the boogie. Say up jump the boogie to the bang bang boogie ,
which shows us that these lyrics were meant for partying with the word boogie . Also, this song is
quite materialistic in its lyrics. Examples include, I got a Lincoln continental and a sunroof Cadillac

was that Macbeth would be king but so would Duncan s kids.
One reason the witches have the most power is because Macbeth went on this journey of self

10. Moving The Nfl Into Europe
Moving the NFL to Europe
Max Price
California Lutheran University
ABSTRACT This paper will touch on the topic of the NFL moving to Europe, more specifically full
time. There will be numerous implications of moving a team to London to compete, and with that
comes many risks and difficulties to overcome. More specifically, The NFL would have to figure out a
completely new scheduling system in order to give fair opportunity to all teams in the NFL.
Furthermore there are complications of sending a team to London (pulling it from an NFL fan base) or
creating a new franchise to kick start the NFL taking over the European market, giving the people a
team to build around. The full support given by the European people is overwhelming with only a few
games being played in Europe each year.
The National Football League (NFL) is looking to expand its brand name. As American fans and
statistics will clearly show, football is far and away the most popular sport in the states. The National
Football League is looking to expand it s fanbase and globalization within the NFL can create steady
growth for the sport. More specifically, the NFL is looking to move to Europe. The NFL league
officials have been pushing hard for a full time franchise to relocate into the European Market,
becoming the first NFL franchise to call the city of London home. NFL fans, however, are not too
happy about the idea of moving a popular American sport to a country and community that is difficult

At the end of the American Civil War the United States were on the eve of destruction. In order to
avoid this destruction people in The Union had to come up with plans to rehabilitate. The first plan for
reconstruction was created by Abraham Lincoln, but it had major faults in which Lincoln s main focus
was to get the states back together and he didn t much care how. After Lincoln s assassination Andrew
Johnson not only took over the spot of presidency but he took over the responsibility for
reconstruction. Johnson composed a plan that he believed would surely work, but he too had major
flaws. Johnson s flaws were Primarily based on his views of certain people and how he handled those
views. The last plan was conceived by the congress. The people in congress looked over the two plans
preceding them, saw their errors, and forged a plan of their own. Out of these three plans the one that
would ve been the most successful is the congressional reconstruction plan.

INTRODUCTION
Swarm robotics is the new approach to the coordination of multi robot systems that consists of many
relatively smaller robots. The inspiration of this is the social behaviour of many animals and insects
like ants, geese etc. the terms Swarm Intelligence refers to the collective behaviour that is the outcome
of the work of the smaller individuals, each acting autonomously. Swarm intelligence is a property of
systems of non intelligent exhibiting a collectively intelligent behaviour.
Since the 1980 s, swarm robotics has become a major area of research. As new solution approaches

18. The Threat Of The Atomic Bomb
Very few events in human history will be remembered forever. Everyday things such as driving to
work or spending time with a loved one, will all soon be part of the past. Even seemingly horrifying
events that in the present seem to cause chaos, such as a wildfire that destroys thousands of homes, or
a plane crash that tears apart many families will be forgotten by humanity in a comparably short
amount of time. The atomic bomb is one of the few events that will forever be remembered by people
all over the world for the remainder of human history. Robert Oppenheimer, the main scientist in
building the bomb, will be remembered as the person who created the most devastating weapon ever
used in combat. The destruction that was caused by the bomb was mainly felt in the country of Japan,
but its impact spread throughout the world. Ending World War II was made possible by the U.S.
government, and their crucial decision to drop Oppenheimer s atomic device onto the cities of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Soon after, the once destructive device was forbidden to be used for any
reason and nuclear power plants were developed to make use of the unique power. The dropping of the
atomic bomb had a much greater impact on the world than just its immediate destruction. Robert
Oppenheimer, the man behind the atomic bomb, grew up in the early 1900s in New York City
(Rummel 13). Oppenheimer s American journey started long before he was born. His father, Julius,

20. Liver Synthesis
Without the liver, the human body would not be able to regulate chemical levels in the blood. The
liver is composed of eight segments that form two main lobes. Our body relies on the production of
bile to help break down fats, and the liver to process the blood to create nutrients useful for the body.
Regulating blood clotting, processing use of hemoglobin, glucose release and storage, and the
production of proteins are only a few of the many functions for the liver.
Storage is an important function of the liver and is needed to provide a constant supply of vitamins
and minerals to the body. The liver as an organ of the immune system, the aids the body and fights off
foreign bodies by Kupffer cells. Kupffer cells line the sinusoids and capture/digest cellular debris,

As blood passes through the hepatic portal vein, hepatocytes monitor the blood and make sure all
impurities are cleaned before the blood exits the liver. By neutralizing the toxins to form activated
intermediates, the enzyme system can then break down the toxin chemicals lowering the toxicity by
hydrolysis, reduction, and oxidation. The product of these reactions is antioxidants, which can use
damage if too many are produced. As this is occurring, conjugation pathway is taking place, which
adds another substance like cysteince or glycine to make the toxin less harmful, water soluble, and
able to be excreted in waste.
In conclusion, from detoxifying to body to metabolism and storage of important nutrients to the
production of bile the liver preforms a lot of important functions. When damaged by substances such
as alcohol, the liver is not able to properly perform its functions and can lead to a variety of diseases
or permanent damage. Awareness of these functions and what can cause damage to it is a good way to

21. ##liness And Loneliness In Ernest Hemingway s A Clean...
When I have a lot on my mind, I find it hard to quell my thoughts and drift away peacefully asleep.
The only thing i can do then, is to give up on sleeping. Watch the TV, or anything to get my mind to
stop wandering. Ernest Hemingway never fails to make you think deeper thoughts when reading his
works. This is the case In Ernest Hemingway s a clean well lighted place is a short story about two
waiters, and an old, deaf man in a late night cafe. The young waiter is tired and impatiently waiting for
the old man to leave so he can go home. The older waiter tries to explain to him why the old man is
there at the cafe instead of a bar or bodegas. The short story is a set of dialogs, and within these we
learn that some need a safe haven for their despair. Some need a clean and orderly place to contradict
the dirty, unorganized mess they have in their head. Hemingway s short story is about loneliness and
despair.
To start with, the setting of this story takes place in what is most likely Spain. The title plays a big role
in the setting. The older waiter is trying to communicate the reason the man is there in the middle of
the night, and that is because the cafe is in fact a clean, well lighted place. The lightness and order are
the reasons he is there. He could go anywhere else to drink, but he is an old deaf man that is there to
get away from the darkness of the night. He is lonely and has lost almost all hope. His only hope is
that he can have a clean well lighted place to hide

I feel this quote is a universal truth in times of hardship. As each of us goes about our daily lives, it is
easy to forget the things that we normally take for granted. Every luxury, benefit, and relationship
goes unnoticed until an event makes us realize how fortunate we are to have all of these things. This
quote personally resonated with me when I reflect on the situations that I underwent this summer. I

24. Url Stands For Uniform Resource Locator
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, and is used to specify addresses on the World Wide Web.
A URL is the fundamental network identification for any resource connected to the web (e.g.,
hypertext pages, images, and sound files).
A common way to get to a Web site is to enter the URL of its home page file in your Web browser s
address line. However, any file within that Web site can also be specified with a URL. Such a file
might be any Web (HTML) page other than the home page, an image file, or a program such as a
common gateway interface application or Java applet. The URL contains the name of the protocol to
be used to access the file resource, a domain name that identifies a specific computer on the Internet,
and a pathname, a hierarchical description that specifies the location of a file in that computer.
URLs have the following format: protocol://hostname/other_information
The protocol specifies how information from the link is transferred. The protocol used for web
resources is (HTTP). Other protocols compatible with most web browsers include HTTPS, FTP, telnet,
newsgroups, and Gopher. The protocol is followed by a colon, two slashes, and then the domain name.
The domain name is the computer on which the resource is located. Links to particular files or
subdirectories may be further specified after the domain name. Directory names are separated by
single forward slashes
On the Web (which uses the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP), an example of a URL is:

Soft power is important in today s world because it essentially influences beliefs on one s behalf.
Convincing people to want what you want, instead of forcing them or coercion them holds a huge

use of soft power leads to positive power, where both sides win. Today, the growth of Asia will
heavily influence the power of the world, and is shaped by their beliefs. As Dr. Nye states in the video,
power today is not just winning wars, its about whose story wins and if China s power spreads
throughout Asia then ultimately power lies with them.

In addition to the core values, personal experiences throughout my Air Force career have shaped my
leadership philosophy, mainly through the observation of different leaders. Hence, my upbringing, the
USAF core values, and personal experiences have laid the foundation for my leadership philosophy. I
will discuss in the succeeding paragraphs those leadership traits essential to my leadership philosophy.
Moral courage is the bedrock of my leadership philosophy. Merriam Webster defines courage as the
mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. In other
words, moral courage means to make the right decisions for the greater good of the unit. Doing the
right thing takes moral courage, especially if the action the leader is taking is unpopular. This may
even include risking your career to stay true to your own values and beliefs. One example that
reinforces the importance of moral courage is that of Col H.R. McMaster during his time in Iraq when
he made a profound impact on Army tactics. Although his superiors did not agree with him, he stayed
true to his values to fix the broken process. However, it came at the expense being passed over twice

Introduction
The concept of self driving cars has been a dream of humankind since the invention of the first self
propelled vehicle. The notion of boarding a vehicle without having to be attentive or vigilant has
driven the automotive industry over the years to seek an alternative to the driver dependent car. Years
of research and testing have led to major advancements in the technology necessary to operate these
cars, leading many to believe that autonomous cars will be a reality in the very near future. As is the
case with many innovations, however, a myriad of potential complications have been exposed along
the way. Despite many possible upsides, the design, safety, and ethical concerns regarding the
technology to be incorporated in these machines are the major hurdles that need to be cleared in order
make autonomous cars feasible. These complications have begged the question, are self driving cars
truly in the best interest of society? An analysis of self driving vehicles exhibits the inherent
complications associated with the autonomous technology required to operate these machines.
Emergence of Autonomous Vehicles
Cars are not the only mode of transportation that people have sought to make autonomous. In fact,

31. Spanking And Discipline
Many people, ages forty or older, grew up in a household where parents disciplined. The two types of
discipline was in the form of spanking or Time out. Spanking or Timeout tend to be a structured way
of letting a child know that he/she has done something wrong. Many parents used these forms of
punishment as a deterrent hoping the child would not make the same mistake twice but instead
succeed. The question of what is the best way to discipline depends on what a parent experienced as a
child. Different disciplinary can have a huge impact on how successful a child is in the future.
Spanking can make a child become more open to violent and depression behavioral, leading to them
failing in the future. Jim Sims Giles author of the Child, maternal, and family characteristics
associated with spanking stated that spanking can have a long term and short term side effect. Having
been spanked as a child and/or adolescent is related to later psychological problems including an
increased chance of being depressed and thinking about suicide (Straus, in press), becoming violent
and delinquent (Straus, 1991), and experiencing alienation and lower economic achievement. Physical
discipline can have an emotional effect on a child opening them up to become depress or turn to
violence for relief. Spanking also can have a long term effect on a child s memory. The article Child,

When you drive up to your bank or walk up to your teller, your main goal is to complete your

money is handled. To accompany those changes, regulators and lawmakers create laws designed to

industry has changed drastically over the last two thousand years and even more so in the last century

In both of Duffy s poems she uses enjambment to create a quick pace in the poem and reflect a rush of
feelings, which also reflect the speakers disjointed thoughts. For The Suicide this could reflect the
emotions within the poem and similar to Miss Havisham it shows a continuous pain and heightened
emotions. However, Larkin s poems are more tightly structured. Mr Bleaney for example still has

The indefinite pronoun something shows her uncertainty and doubt. She is also uses crude language in
her vulgarism fuck off . Her imperative expresses her strong feelings about her feelings towards
others, and maybe her own mental state of mind. An example of Duffy s use of imagery is in the
semantic field of death and violence in despair, lies, blood, horrid, bloody, claws ; this lexis is violent
