I was asked to complete this form for another company’s evaluation of my PM skills; I am sharing this with you for
further information about my unique experiences, skills and training.
Domain Knowledge
Project At least 7-10 years of experience of delivering complex system
Management integrated business application projects as part of a professional
services organisation in the telecommunications enterprise solutions
market. Past experience in preferably more than one core role (e.g.,
consulting, project management and operations). Background in
application software or good understanding of the development
lifecycle and environment.
-ys- I began my career in high availability, real-time reconnaissance
and signal processing software development which followed strict
DoD structured development and methodology. Then I did telecom
software development (design, test and integrate): for test
equipment, Intelligent Networks (IN) on fixed and wireless networks.
I began my consulting work in 1997 where I worked in OA&M, NOC,
Back Office, Tier-3 technical support, on site customer support &
training, solution architect, systems integration and test and
Customer Project Management all over the world for both major
telecom Vendors and Operators.
Domain Deep knowledge of the global mobile telecommunications market,
specifically the tier one operators as well as fixed line, cable and other
major players forming the three and quad-play providers.
Relationships with tier 1 operator and system integrator senior and
middle management delivering solutions in this domain. Knowledge of
other telco domains including fixed line, cable, data and content
valuable.

-ys- I love the different people interactions / communications from all
levels and all roles, different cultures, I excel at this because I am a
good listener and honest and they respect me for this. I also realize

Projects Experience and deep knowledge of planning, setting up and running
complex system integrated projects in customer environment delivered
directly or with partners. Includes all phases, milestones and
deliverables for scoping, requirements definition, specification,
customer developments, system integration, software re-use, staging,
testing, acceptance, installation, commissioning, roll-out and ongoing
support as well as projects controls including change and risk
management. Also includes Programme Management Office functions
working with stakeholders and executive sponsors, reporting,
reviewing, escalation and issue management.
-ys- I have experience in all phases of a project and have always
worked with complex multi-node systems that interface in real time
with each other.
Partners Ability to engage and quickly establish strong working relationships
with partners such as system integrators (eg, Accenture, IBM),
equipment manufacturers (eg, Ericsson, Siemens-Nokia, Nortel), small
to medium enterprises (SMEs) and smaller vendors (eg, software
houses) to establish successful relationships for bidding, winning,
delivering and supporting customer projects. Can operate successfully
in a partner-based environment that will enable delivery of projects of
far greater scale than x could achieve on its own.

3. -ys- I believe in win-win situations and can facilitate and encourage
symbiotic & collaborative results. I can work and communicate with
different people within different roles and in different organizations
(companies). I have done this in several projects where my team was
located all around the world at times.
Proposals Deep understanding of project bids including resource estimation, risk
analysis, P&L structure and qualification criteria to assess business
potential. Working directly with regional sales teams and partners
using ‘hands on’ approach to help define pragmatic win strategies that
are EBITDA positive and identifying, where necessary, the reasons to
‘no bid’ to protect X from loss making engagements.
-ys- I am familiar with this, it is also used within Ericsson and not all
projects can be pursued at a specific time, you take the ones that
have the best business impact and should be the most
successful/profitable within the current business environment
(competitors, strategic moves, etc.) with regards to your future
roadmaps and goals.
Matrix Management Ability to drive cross-functional project teams of services personnel
dispersed across multiple geographies and disciplines in a matrix
structure where none of the resources report directly to the project
manager. Able to motivate project staff and influence their tasks to
align with the project goals and priorities.
-ys- This is the way that Ericsson and Lucent operate, and I am used to
Matrix Managed projects.
Process & Tools Accreditation with one of recognised project management
methodologies (eg, PRINCE2) and references of projects delivered to
that standard. Knowledge of other relevant methodologies for both
Sales and projects. Ability to follow process and use tools including
those defined as part of the x PSO. Ensuring high quality deliverables
and collateral for projects.
-ys- I have studied and completed project management at a Master’s
Level with an “A” average GPA, I have studied and own the PMBOK
(Project Management Book of Knowledge) 2000 and I am currently
studying the PMBOK 2008 release. I have also passed the Ericsson
PROPS-C (Project Management for Customer Deliverable Projects, it
mostly follows PMP structure) certification test.

reporting / billing codes, pricing (blended, rate card, etc), timesheets,
service invoicing, reporting, performance metrics, forecasting

4. (frontlog / backlog) and PSO administration including management of
timesheets, creation of invoices. –ys- I have been doing these PSO
tasks on my contracts and I have worked with network performance
metrics (I even enabled them on several network elements since
1994).
People Knowledge of different roles and skills that operate within a PSO
including business & technical consulting, solution architects,
programme and project managers, domain / SME specialists, software
developers, integration specialists, support (out-sourcing, managed
services and standard models), operations and administration. Ability
to assess capability of staff and suitability for each project. –ys- I have
even worked in these various roles, so I have deep understanding for
what they do and how they interface within a project.
Contracts Good knowledge of different contract types (eg, fixed price, time and
materials, risk-reward) for engagement and delivery of PSO for both
discreet (eg, time / task bound consulting only) and project services.
Includes understanding importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
inherent in services work and how to protect these during our
engagements. Work with legal counsel to define schedules for each
project. Ability to discuss contract terms and conditions with
customers and negotiate positive commercial terms based on
articulation of our value proposition. It is not a requirement to
negotiate legal terms on behalf of– legal counsel will provide this
support. –ys- I have both read and written various contracts,
Statement Of Work docs, Project Specifications, proposals, bids and
understand how to work within legal bounds.
