Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926 and became Queen in 1952 after the death of her father King George VI. She married Prince Philip in 1947 and they had four children together. As Queen, her duties include traveling the world representing the UK, meeting with political leaders, and giving an annual Christmas speech. In her personal life she enjoys reading, puzzles, watching TV, and spending time with her horses and dogs. In 2022 she celebrated 70 years on the throne with her Platinum Jubilee.

4. MARRIAGE
• Elizabeth met Philip Mountbatten from the
Greek Royal Family when she was just 13
• They kept in touch over the years
• Her father wasn’t sure about the marriage as
Philip didn’t have great wealth and was a bit
loud
• But Elizabeth loved him and they got married
in 1947 in Westminster Abbey in London
5. EARLY MARRIED LIFE
• They had a son Charles in 1948, and a daughter Anne in
1950
• In 1952 King George VI died and Elizabeth became Queen
• Her Coronation was seen by people
across the world on television
• She later had two more children
in the early 1960s- Andrew and Edward
6. THE QUEEN’S ‘JOB’
• As part of the Queen’s duties she travels
around the world visiting countries on behalf
of Great Britain!
7. • She also has regular meetings with the elected
leaders of our country
• Every Christmas Day she gives a speech on
television to the whole country
8. THE QUEENS’ PERSONAL LIFE
• When she has free time the Queen likes to
read mystery books, do crossword puzzles and
even watch wrestling on TV!!!!
• She also loves dogs and horses, with Corgis
being her favourite dog.
9. THE QUEEN’S LATER YEARS
• The Queen was very sad when her sister
Margaret and her mother both died in 2002
• She has however found much happiness with
her many grandchildren including Prince
William and Prince Harry
10. • The Queen keeps very busy attending over 400
engagements each year and supporting over 600
charities
• And in 2011 became the first Monarch to visit the
Republic of Ireland
11. THE DIAMOND JUBILEE
• The Queen has now been 60 years on the
throne and may one day soon become the
longest serving King or Queen in our history
