WHICH IS FOR CHILDREN UNDER 12 YEARS. IT IS A SERIES
OF FUN, MOTIVATING ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEST WHICH IS
AIMED AT CHILDREN IN PRIMARY AND LOWER

2. PRE A1 – STARTERS
Pre A1 starter which was formally called as Cambridge
English Starters is the basic level testing, where children’s
level of English will be tested.
Why A1-Starters?
Basic English Learners:
The understanding level of Basic English content on the
internet can be analyzed.
Children can learn by enjoying through books, songs,
television and films in English
Children can also make friends globally.
3. WHY A1-STARTERS?
There is no pass or fail- every child gets a Cambridge
English certificate that celebrates their achievements.
The test uses realistic everyday situations to bring
learning to life.
Learning English in different way makes every kid to give
a different way of approach in English.
The test covers all major varieties of English.
All the four skills of language listening, reading, writing
and speaking are covered in this test.
4. SCORING AND TYPES OF SKILLS:
The time limit for this test is 45 minutes and this timing
is separated into parts in order to test the skills. (i.e.)
Listening – 20minutes, Reading & Writing -20minutes,
speaking – 3-5 minutes.
The score range for starters is 80-100 or 0-9 scale band.
The scores are awarded with certificates that have
number of shields in it. The maximum number of shields
is five.
5. LISTENING:
There are four parts in listening each part consists of five
questions each that sums up to 20 questions.
Part 1: Picture description
Part 2: Short conversations and answers
Part 3: Picture and conversations with questions &
answers
Part 4: Listening and coloring correctly.
6. READING AND WRITING:
There are five parts in reading and writing that consists of
five questions each that sums up to 25 questions.
Part 1: Picture description
Part 2: Pictures with sentences below to say whether it
is correct or not
Part 3: Fill in with letters
Part 4: Fill the letters by seeing the picture
Part 5: Pictures with Q&A to connect and frame story
7. SPEAKING:
This part of test goes for 3-5 minutes; there are four parts in
speaking which consists of questions that bring out the speaking skill
of a candidate.
