Corning Glass Company Case Study
Corning Glass Company is an old company founded in the US, specifically in Massachusetts that
manufactured glass, ceramic, and related materials usually on an order basis, which means it did
not had a determined market other than satisfying particular demands from its customers and taking
opportunities manufacturing Original Equipment for larger companies. CorningGlasswas
established in Corning, New York in the mid 1800s. Corning Glass s operations were in Corning
but as the company grew they opened plants and sales offices throughout the country. By 1968,
most of their 40 plants were located east of the Mississippi River. Most of them were headquarters
but two of their major divisions were in Corning. (Beer, M. 1983)

For that and other reasons they started to reduce personal and expenses sharply, and problems
between departments were everywhere. Each department had something to claim about the others;
the lack of communication, confident and trust became the main reason of the uncomfortable
situation. The business continued to be very competitive, morale was low and there were conflicts
between workers and departments. The organization was not pulling things together and the lack of
coordination was affecting their ability to develop new products. (Beer, M. 1983)
One of the most complicated issues was in the Marketing department, but they were not the only
ones with some difficulties. Sales blamed finance of the lack of information about the goals,
manufacturing blamed sales of giving their products away at too low prices and marketing of not
planning correctly in order to obtain the highest profits possible. There were rumors everywhere,
some people said that Product Development s priorities were wrong and their projects were always
late, but at the same time Marketing was irritated about the lack of collaboration and the negative
attitude form Manufacturing. Every department was in chaos during those days and Mr. Joe
Bennett had the responsibility to fix it. (Beer, M. 1983)
This crisis was mainly generated from the following causes:

Personal Culture Research Paper
Want to know what shaped your behavior and personal values? Then through the Lewis cultural
category survey, you can understand how the culture you grow up in shaped the person who you
are today. The survey results will let you know what culture category you follow into either linear
active, multi active, or reactive.
Behaviors and Personal Values
Growing up fourth generation Southern Californian my nuclear family help shape my values and
behavior. My parents taught me there were consequences in life for my actions, rather it was right
or wrong. For example, I came home drunk from a party on a Friday night while I was in high
school. So, my father didn t punish me that night. However, Saturday morning he woke me up and
made sure I attended the three hour basketball practice at school. I learned my lesson not to get
drunk. Also, my parents assigned chores around the house to teach me the value of good work
ethics. Furthermore, they instilled in me freedom of choice to pursue sports, play a musical
instrument, or anything else that interested me. Also, allowed me to have input into family
discussions teaching me how to have an opinion and defend it. Then ... Show more content on

The military needs to recognize the underlying cultural dynamics and language in the countries

be sensitive to the local population s beliefs and religion. Therefore, the warfighter has to stay away

The Law Regarding Non Compete Agreements Essay
Courts in Texas continue to struggle with the law regarding non compete agreements, as a recent
decision by the Dallas Court of Appeals indicates. That opinion adds to the trouble Texas employers
may face when they seek to protect their business interests through enforcement of existing non
compete agreements with at will employees.
A fundamental requirement for enforceability of a non compete agreement in Texas is that the
agreement must be ancillary to or part of an otherwise enforceable agreement at the time the
agreement is made. Tex. Bus. Com. Code §§ 15.50. If the only other agreement with the
employee is the at will employment relationship, the covenant not to compete is not enforceable.
Notwithstanding a reference in the statute to at will employment relationships, the Texas Supreme
Court has held that an employment at will relationship, without more, does not constitute an
otherwise enforceable agreement. Light v. Centel Cellular Co., 883 S.W.2d 642 (Tex. 1994).
Employers often argue that a covenant not to compete can be ancillary to an agreement not to
disclose confidential information. The court in the Light decision cited such an agreement, given in
exchange for the employer actually providing the information, as an example of an otherwise
enforceable agreement. However, since then, several cases have raised concerns about how the
courts will construe these types of agreements in the future.
First, the agreement must contain a promise to actually

Anthony Kiedis
Throughout the years celebrities have been accused of drug abuse. Many will deny it and blame
it on the media, but for one rocker this was not so. Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of the American
band Red Hot Chili Peppers, was blatant about his drug addiction. He even wrote a book about
his life called Scar Tissue. Throughout his life there were ups and downs that shaped him to be
who he is today. It is not the drug abuse that fascinates me about Kiedis but it is how he overcame
who he was back then to whom he is today. When analyzing Anthony Kiedislife, his childhood,
early band years, the present day rocker, and whom he has influenced, including myself, must be
broken down. Due to his struggle and high off of life, Anthony Kiedis is... Show more content on

It is hard to comprehend why a father would put his son in an illegal position but we can only sit
and wonder...what was he thinking? It was not long before Anthony Kiedis had found his love
for marijuana nor was it long before he had his first sexual experience. However, even though
Anthony was a young junkie, he also became a young actor. First movie he auditioned and got the
part for was the movie F.I.S.T. Within the movie Anthony starred as Sylvester Stallone s son.
Thinking that Anthony was going to make it big only turned into a fluke at the time, but there
was something else big that Anthony had to face and that was high school. Throughout Anthony
s education he used a false address in order to go to one of the best schools in his area but after
the school found out, it was time for Anthony to go to the school where was meant to be at. While
at the more prestigious school Anthony went under the shorted name of Tony but now in a new
atmosphere he instinctively started to go under his full name Anthony. Now that he was out of one
school and into another there was the sense of loneliness for Kiedis. He felt completely alienated
considering that he never grew up with these new classmates. It was not until Anthony met
Michael Balzary also known as Flea that Kiedis soon found a liking for his new high school. These
two boys soon became inseparable. Anthony realized that the adult life that he had been living

The most popular in the informal sector is the retail trade of goods and services. Over 1 million
people are involved in this activity and another 300 000 in community and social services. Together
these sectors make up around 60% of all employment in the informal economy. The informal sector
assists with job creation and reduces unemployment and poverty in South Africa.

notable author born in New York City. He attended the University of California at Berkeley,
where he received a PhD in sociology and was heavily involved in the Students for a Democratic

seventeenth century Dutch painter by the name of Vermeer. Vermeer was known for being able
to fr[ee]ze instants, but instants that spoke of the relative constancy of the world in which his
subjects lived (Gitlin 558). People collected Vermeer s paintings for display throughout their
homes. Gitlin sees Vermeer as the seventeenth century version of the media. In that time, the
images painted were relative to the people s era and private world. In today s world Vermeer
would be the equivalent to a celebrity photographer or movie director. If Vermeer, or any other
artist of his time, were to see today s households, they would find that the once private space
inside the home is now much more dominated by images of the outside world than what would
have been possible in the 1600 s. As mentioned in Gitlin s research, statistics show that, watching
TV is the dominant leisure activity of Americans, consuming 40 percent of the average person s
free time as a primary activity [when people give television there undivided attention] (Gitlin 560).
Even the wealthier parts of poor worlds have access to some sort of media. It would take someone

Nat Turner Essay
Enslave Me Not
Throughout the colonial period and the time leading up to the American civil war, one of the
most important and controversial topics facing Americans was the idea of slavery. The notion of
slavery is an odd and incredibly horrifying concept, that one man can own another man, or two
men, or an entire family, just because of the color of their skin. No doubt the idea was racist and
repulsive, but to many Men and Women in history, across the country and across the world, slavery
was just a part of everyday life: they knew no different. So when those people who were being
stripped from their homeland and brought over on ships to be sold at auction to the highest white
bidder, began to question the sacredness of this terrible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Telling the story behind the scenes of how the insertion developed, and how the slaves could think
for themselves and design the plan without the help of outside forces, an idea that many whites
refused to believe in the time following the rebellion. Though Nat was finally captured, and in turn
tried, then executed, the battle that he won was much greater than his own life.
Nat is without a doubt a freedom fighter and although his fight ended in blood, it was necessary
at the time to help to end the continuance of such a cruel and inhuman practice. Slavery in itself
was much more horrifying than every white death that ensued following the rebellion combined.
Oates s assertion that Turner s rebellion was the first war against slavery is incredibly accurate,
except in one sense, one does not need to be African American to agree with this claim. Though
an African American could view slavery as a much more personal subject, because it affected
and enslaved many of their own ancestors, one does not need to be black to understand how
terrible slavery actually is. Any single person who can assess slavery with an open mind and
completely unbiased will see that the suggestion that one person can own another person solely
because of the color of one s skin is completely inhumane, and it s absolutely no surprise that those
who were being enslaved decided to react. Nat did in fact commit a crime, he started a

Difference Between Health And Social Class
Variations in health and inequality have always been the subject of debates and studies throughout
the last century; explanations varied from: our lifestyles, our ethnicity, and even our gender. So
why after 100 years of studying this worldwide phenomenon, and producing detailed statistical
evidence, with well informed debates are we still living in a society where inequality in healthstill
exists? One would expect with so much progress in medicine, vast improvements in our living
/housing standards; raised awareness and understanding of issues relating to our cultural and
genetic profiles, that this inequality would be on par with how society has overcome other
inequalities including race and gender. Have we done enough by trying to explain this in terms of
the Genetics, Cultural, or Material variants? Or are they all correct, and this kind of inequality in
our society is something that is inevitable?
Health and ill health on the basis of Cultural/Behaviour is explained as having direct relationships
with social class and how their actions determine their health. According to (Bourdieu 1984) Life
expectancy amongst people in high social class standing was because of their inclination towards a
cult of health consciousness and their appearance of the body: the body as a thing displayed to
others...and a high value being placed on moderate drinking and careful diet. What Bourdeau is
suggesting is that our lifestyle is determined by our culture, and seems to be suggesting

Othello And Iago Relationship Analysis
One of the major components in Othello, that Shakespeare incorporated throughout the play, is
relationships. These relationships are driven by different motivations and give each individual
something unique. Each character contributes disparate factors to their relationships and change
from scenario to scenario. The presentation of different relationships in Othellorepresents many of
the underlying motifs of the play. Othello and Iagos relationship, the most prominent relationship,
represents the duality of the play. Othello believes that Iago is helping him and guiding him to
be a better person; however, Iago is using Othello to get his way. Iago is annoyed that he didn t
receive promotion from general Othello ( Relationships in Othello ). Iago is dissatisfied with
Othello s choice because he believes he deserves the promotion. Iago becomes vengeful and
devises a plan to enact his revenge. I follow him to serve my turn upon him (Shakespeare). Iago
is shown to only serve Othello for his own purposes. Othello cannot see through the facade that
Iago has put up and follows him blindly. Othello trusts Iago totally as Iago has a reputation in
Venice for being very honest ( Relationships in Othello ). Moreover, Othello calls Iago Honest Iago
on multiple occasions in the play. Othello is shown to believe that Iago is honest and trustworthy
by Shakespeare to emphasize the duality of the relationship between Iago and Othello. Their
relationship is a major aspect in

Assessment Of A Relationship With The Family
Assessment of Presenting Issues In the process of establishing a relationship with the family, there
occurs the assessment process. In the assessment stage, the counsellor collaborates with the family
to uncover the presenting problems. According to Hackney and Cormier (2013) problems may be
conceptualized in various ways: as needs, stressors, life conditions, misinterpretations, dysfunctional
social patterns, or a combination of these determinants. For Max s case I chose to utilize approaches
and techniques from Minuchin s Structural FamilyTheory for the assessment and support

building and assessment tool.
Basic Genogram Both the process of creating a genogram and the content it holds have
therapeutic benefits. (Balaguer, Dunn, Levitt, 2000). In this case I could use the genogram as
therapeutic alliance building tool as well as a way to observe the family dynamic. The main focus
of the genogram with this family would be to explore the triangles between Mary, Bill and Julie,
by looking at family history and presenting patterns. For this reason, this process would not include
Max. Using Bowen s collaborative approach, the clients would lead the process as they are the
experts of their own lives. Once the genogram has been constructed, I would invite the family to
explore its meanings. While using minimal therapeutic techniques and imposing opinions, my role

A very telling factor of the quality of any product is its body. Same goes for Zojirushi s rice cooker.
Not only it is attractive in looks, it also has a dent resistant body. I have using it for almost two
years now and it still looks as good as new. This dent resistant body guarantees prolonged usage.
Capacity:
Believed to be the best rice cooker and steamer by many, the Zojirushi rice cooker can
accommodate upto 5.5 cups of rice. Not only is the rice well cooked, it is healthy as well. The
capacity that this rice cooker offers gives it an edge because unlike others, with it you can easily
cook for a group of 13 15 people.
Keep Warm Mode:
An ingenious design, Zojirushi Micom uses a keep warm mode. This makes this rice cooker an
intelligent tool. Once the rice is cooked, it stops heating to prevent the rice from overcooking and
shifts to the keep warm mode so that whenever you wish to serve it, you get it warm and fresh.

The Federalism Of The United States
Americans utilize the Federalism idea as putting into effect the Constitution for Federal, State, and
Local governments. These areas are served as different areas with different needs and goals within
the federalist theory. The National Government has expressed powers over the nation and subjects
that effect our nation. The State has limited powers that are involved within the State s boundaries.
The local government is expressed to help regulate the states. All together the governments make
one unitary system that can metaphorically be described as a cake. The breakup of federalism
started out being broken up in layers, like a layer cake, with distinct separated powers of National
government and State. Accordingly, as the New Federalism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The arguments resembled that the Federalist held the upper hand since they were wealthy
landowners to take charge of the democracy. Conversely, Antifederalist were afraid to give into
signing the constitution in favor of the Federalist ideas because they felt it would grant too much
power to the National Government instead of the States. The dispute between the Federalist and
Antifederalist lead to, what is known today, as a breakthrough of famous Federalist Papers that
lead to the greater understanding of the Constitution. The Federalist Papers appeared as persuasive
writings developed by what we know today as historical figures that make up the founding fathers
of the ratification of the Constitution. The writings of the Federalist argued that they held the
privilege to secure the government to favor the economy. The Federalist wrote to convince the
public in the newspapers that their views and actions would create a perfect balance and protect
the Nation s people. On the other hand, Anti Federalist opposed ratification of the Constitution in
favor of the federalist ideas. The Antifederalist persuaded that the Federalist would favor slavery,
and people s rights would be in danger. The two groups feuding created an important factor in the
U.S. Constitution. Like so, the Federalist considered the Antifederalist ideas and managed to
compromise a Bill of Rights to be added to the Constitution in favor of absolute security to people s

Glial Cell Research
Glial cells play an important role in the function of the neurons. Approximately ninety percent of
the human brain is made up of glial cells (Moyes 182). For many years, scientists believed that
these glial cells played a passive role in the nervous system of vertebrates. This is why they were
named glial cells because the Greek word glia means glue (Moyes 182). One type of glial cells that
is part of the peripheral nervous systemis Schwann cells (Moyes 182). Collectively, these cells
make up the myelin sheath and help repair any damage that might happen to the motor or sensory

Michigan University Of Michigan Football Team
The title says it all. The University of Michigan Football Team has been transformed into a
monster from the start of the Harbaugh Era. Before Jim Harbaugh took over as head coach
Michigan suffered a devastating 5 7 season and missed a bowl game under Brady Hoke. The team
is now on the up rise. Even though the statement may offend some, it is true. There are those critics
that firmly disagree because of the big plays the defense sometimes allows, an inexperienced

includes his own son. Michigan has a plethora of notable names to their coaches roster. Names
like Jedd Fisch, Tyrone Wheatley, Jay Harbaugh, Michael Zordich, Brian Smith and new coach
Don Brown to name a few. Brown coached the number one defense in the nation last year at
Boston College. He along with the other remarkable coaches has put together a defense that is
unmatched anywhere in the nation. The Michigan defense so far this year has been nothing short
of superb. In their first six games, the defense only allowed two rushing touchdowns and less than
one hundred total rushing yards a game. (Brouwer 1). Outstanding. As sports reviewer Chris

The Museum Of Natural History
Museums are information organizations, that is, they are about giving the most up to date
information to their patrons. No matter how well their organization, commercially, is wrap it up
that part of them remains the same. From the two museums that I visited, the Henry Ford Museum
and the Museum of Natural History, are clearly about passing information to the patron. There are
differences between them, however, it is the equivalences that I want to focus on as they are what
bind them. The three areas of focus are community, academic outreach, and the stories they share.
Creating a strong and vibrant community is important to museums. Dr. Ronquillo, a leader a
Philippine Archeology museum, so elegantly wrote, A properly planned community museum can
express and elucidate the community s cultural wealth through the appropriate presentation and
exhibition of their important natural and cultural heritage (Ronquillo, 1992). It is the community
that keeps generation after generation coming back to see the history that us humans, the earth, and
beyond have gone through. The journey of information, for most, begins as a child during our time
at school. For the Museum of Natural History, this is quite literal as the museum is a part of the
University of Michigan culture. They have the mascot, the wolverine, College students are going in

Vikings Religious Practices
Vikings lived for a long period from 750 until 1250, they had all the features that other cultures
had economics, politics, religion and etc. (Mägi 2015). The essay concentrates on the pagan
religion the Vikings practiced and their rituals. The aim of this essay is to show that the
religious practices played a big part in Vikings lives the gods were really important, they had
religious practices to grant better harvest and success in battle. The thesis is missing ( The aim
of the essay ... is not enough.) The gods were very important to Vikings, who strongly believed
that deities existed. The gods were worshipped as a community but usually, only a few of the
gods played a big part in individual s life, while the reasons for worshipping the gods could be
either fear or admiration. The Vikings had few different kinds of religious practices sacrificial
feasts, family rituals and rites of passage rituals (Brink Price 2008). The most practiced ones
were sacrificial feasts, which could be either big festivals or private events, during which most
commonly animal sacrifices were made to gods to grant good harvest, peace, long life, victory and
etc. (Bray 2004). Also, the importance of the gods was present in their beliefs about the afterlife. It

Uppsala and it was mainly addressed to god Freyr ( e.g. Bray 2004; Brink Price 2008). Freyr is a
fertility god who controls rain and sunshine and rules the growth of the earth, therefore, he was
able to manipulate the quality of the crop (Lindow 2001). The sacrificial feast in Uppsala was the
biggest and the most brutal. It took place every nine years and during the feast nine of each nine

Theories Of Restorative Justice
According to Batley (2005), restorative justice is about dealing with the damage that was caused as
well as addressing the needs of the victim and the offender. The relationship between the two parties
and their communities needs to be mended. Zehr Gohar (2003) further states that restorative justice
expands the circle of stakeholders further than that of the justice system. Stakeholders are not just
the offender and the government, but the victim and the community members as well.
As stated by Batley (2005), there are many definitions of restorative justice, but they all contain
three principles, which are:
Victims, offenders and communities all experience pain or damages that is caused by crime. It is
through ubuntu that the criminal justice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could lead to the victim feeling pressured into having to see or interact with the offender,
which could cause the victim to regress in the progress they have made (Marsh Wager, 2015).
Zehr Gohar (2003) states that when a murder has been committed the damage cannot be repaired,
but steps towards healing can be taken. Looking at the above mentioned crimes namely, domestic
violence, sexual violence and rape, murder could be the worst criminal act.
The charge states that restorative justice is not appropriate when dealing with a serious crime
such as murder (Batley, 2005). On the surface the obvious reason would be that the victim would
not be able to partake in the restorative process, however Gaudreault (2005) stated that research
shows that family members and friends of murder victims have shown a willingness to engage in
the restorative justice process. Undertaking the process of having the family take the role of victim
could be a form of closure that they receive as the survivors of

The Factors Of Brand Loyalty
Chapeter1 Introduction
1.1 Background
As a company, customer mentality is important for them to affect the volume of business. Brand
loyalty is one of related issues of customer purchasing choices. FOONG YEE and YAHYAH (2008)
stated that many companies, especially those in the sportswear industry try to enhance brand loyalty
among their customers.
Nowadays, public can notice that there are several companies have a big marketing share in the
world obviously, such as Nike, Adidas, Puma etc. These brands seem dominated the sportswear
market and earned the favor of consumers. In contrary, the competitiveness of small companies is
low. Their scale is not big enough to compare with renowned brand, those companies are
insufficient and being exploited indirectly. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those factors were influenced consumers brand loyalty towards certain sportswear brands.
2.3.1 Brand Name There are many unfamiliar brand names and alternatives available in the market,
but consumers may prefer to trust major famous brand names. Famous brand names can
disseminate product benefits and lead to higher recall of advertised benefits than non famous brand
names (Keller, 2003). This is important for brands, which have only minor physical differences and
consumed in a social setting where the brand can create a visible image about the consumer itself.
2.3.2 Price According to Cadogan and Foster (2000), price is probably the most important
consideration for the average consumers. Price serves as the stronger loyalty driver. In addition,
consumers satisfaction can be built by comparing price with perceived costs and values.
Consumers with high brand loyalty are willing to pay a premium price for their favored brand, if
the perceived value of the product are greater than cost.

These issues started out as minor issues, but due to the lack of attention they received, they have
since grown into major ones. My recent research is important due to the fact that these issues can
no longer be ignored. If they are not resolved immediately, our correctional system will begin to
spiral out of control, which could then result in a negative name being given to the system. Also,
not only will the system continue to suffer, but society as a whole. Resolving these issues will not
only benefit the former, current and future offenders, but all the employees of the criminal justice

Overall, I hope you all understand my stance when it comes to taking action to resolve the issues
the criminal justice system is currently facing. I feel together we can accomplish this major task.

Masculism In Things Fall Apart, By Chinua Achebe
According to Merriam Webster, the definition of masculism is an advocate of male superiority or
dominance in social rights. Masculism is one of the main theme shown throughout the book,
Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe. In the novel, women seem that they do not have any equal
rights as men. Also, they have little power in their society and are often mistreat by men.
However, women play key roles throughout the novel diversely. Through the main character,
Okonkwo, women s role are well described in the novel. Women represent a symbol of wealth and
education, and in the other hand, they represent both weak and strong. Okonkwo, the main
character in the novel, is respected among the Igbo society by defeating Amalizine, the Cat, who

The Working Memory Model Proposed by Alan Baddeley and...
That our memory isn t veridical is not a novel idea. This means that we don t perfectly remember
everything that we have seen or experienced in the past. Broadly speaking, there are two
fundamental memory errors that occur in everyday life. One is forgetting events that have occurred,
and the other is remembering something that did not transpire (or misremembering them in the way
that they occurred). The first error, forgetting, is very common, and needs no explanation. We can
all think of instances where our memoryhas failed us. However, the latter error is a more curious
scenario. Often times, when a friend mentions a funny episode that happened at a party you were at,
you might incorporate that into your memory even though you... Show more content on

This is to say that the brain works on the information even after we store it in our memories. And
therein lies the problem. The fact that our cognitive system processes raw data in order to make
better sense of it is a probable cause of the aforementioned lapse in our memory. This experiment
aims to study whether the information processing in our cognitive systems leads to the
formation of false/illusory memories, and if so, what are the possible reasons as to why these
false memories take shape. The experiment was in the form of a word recognition test.
Participants went through a list of 12 words; the words were all thematically related (car, wheel,
bike, motorcycle ...), with the exception of one of two in the list (pencil). After they had gone
through the list, they were presented with another set of words, and were asked to recognize
which of those words had been present in the initial list. Each of these recognition sets contained at
least one word that belonged to the same overarching theme of the initial list, but wasn t actually
present in it (brakes). Thus, there were three types of words participants could have chosen on the
recognition sets : words that appeared on the list, words that did not appear, but were related to the
ones on the list, and those

The Use Of Water From Aquifers And Reservoirs Without...
The drought in the western United States has been going on for nearly five years and while there
are countless ways to lessen the effects, there isn t much action being taken. If nothing is done, the
supply of groundwater in the United States along with the quality of it will greatly diminish
within the next few decades. In many Western states such as California, the residents haven t been
taking much notice to the situation due to their use of the use of water from aquifers and
reservoirs without strict regulations. The continuous use of water from these aquifers will
eventually result in empty aquifers and no fresh, potable water for residents in the affected areas
and in order for a change to actually be made the people must realize what kind of situation they
are actually in and that if they do not follow regulations put forth they will be in a dangerous
situation. Aquifers are being tapped into in order to supplement the water not being provided
naturally throughout the drought. The water being taken from these aquifers are distributed for
many different uses, but the number one consumer of this water is agriculture. In the United States
around 80 percent of the nation s consumption of water goes towards agricultural purposes and in
western states almost 90 percent of their water supply (USDA, 2013). If these states continue to
use the groundwater from aquifers and reservoirs, such as the Ogallala, at such a high rate, roughly
70 percent of this water will be gone in

Essay about Gaius Julius Caesar
Gaius Julius Caesar
Gaius Julius Caesar has been described as one of the most influential political and military
leaders in history. He began the Roman transition from a republic to an empire. Caesar united
Rome under his ruthless power; he controlled religion, senate, and the military. He almost made
himself emperor, and this was the fact that inspired his assassination. Caesar was born in Rome
on July 12 or 13, 100 BC. He started his education early, as a young man he was placed under the
tutorship of M. Antonius Gnipho, a freeborn native of Gaul. Antonius was a well educated man,
and well read in Greek and Latin. Caesar was a product of what could be called the Roman
Renaissance; he was well educated in the culture of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antistius Vetus, praetor of Spain. Shortly before he took his position he lost his aunt and his
wife. When he returned to Rome and married Pompeia, this strange marriage has been considered
a politically tactical move in order to gain an eventual strategic advantage. In 67 BC Pompey the
Great had supreme command in the east. Licinius Crassus a rich partician, was bitterly jealous of
Pompey s successes. These two men rivaled for the next dictatorship, so in order to keep up with
Pompey, Crassus needs the popular support of the people. Who better to help Crassus then the
outspoken and popular Julius Caesar, this alliance was considered a marriage de convenance.
Caesar was a governor in Spain for a year, he returned in 60 BC. It was at this point that Julius
formed a three way alliance with Crassus and Pompey. This was known as the First Triumvirate.
To cement their relationship further, Caesar gave his daughter Julia to Pompey in marriage.

Development Of Optical Imaging Tools For Synapse Typing Essay
Development of Optical Imaging Tools for Synapse Typing
Restructure of synapse types and alternations of dynamics of neurotransmitters and
neuromodulators have been implicated in a number of human neurological and psychiatric diseases,
including autism, Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s disease, schizophrenia, and addiction1,2.
However, little is known about how molecular compositions define different types and functions of
synapses and how different synapses organize in micro and macroscale to give rise to complex brain
functions and disorders, due to lack of appropriate tools to characterize synaptic biomolecules in
situ in large scale. Here, I propose a novel research program to develop transformative tools for large
scale mapping of synaptic biomolecules, functional imaging of neurotransmission and neuronal
signaling. Specifically, it will evolve along three main themes: 1. Expansion pathology for highly
multiplexed, in situ and nanoscale biomolecular imaging. 2. Optogenetic neurotransmitter indicator;
3. in situ imaging tools for endogenous protein protein interaction; This program will expand on the
themes of my previous work on engineering optogenetic indicators for neuronal activities, such as
calcium ions3,4 and voltage5,6 indicators, as well as my current work on devising a clinically
optimized form of expansion microscopy7,8, which contribute new capabilities to the broader
communities of neuroscience, cell biology, pathology and medicine.

causes others to notice and point out the bad qualities of rap music aside from other types of

Today, professors at colleges all around the country are asking the same question. They are
wondering whether laptops in the college classroom actually facilitates a student s ability to learn
or rather it distracts them from the lesson being taught. Laptops were originally considered to be a
small niche market and were thought suitable mostly for specialized field applications such as the
military, the Internal Revenue Service, accountants and sales representatives. But today, there are
already more laptops than desktops in businesses, and laptops are becoming obligatory for student

A strategy that views the world as a single, if segmented, market.
According to some researchers all the definitions of the concept can be grouped into three views
(Peng and
Pleggenkuhle Miles, 2008). The first view considers global strategy as a particular form of
multinational corporation strategy that treats all the countries as a global marketplace. The second
view states that global strategy is related to international strategic management and the third
perspective incorporates both international and domestic corporate strategy. Starting from the
relationship between pressure to cut costs and pressure to adapt to local conditions (Figure 1), four
strategic approaches for global level business have been identified: multi domestic, global,
international and of countries across the world with a single strategy that is highly co ordinated and

Nazi Germany
How Germany Redeemed Itself Nazi Germany is where the start of World War 2 arose, and
developed. After war the rest of the world was so scarred by Germany s actions, that it now
permanently looks at Germany differently. Even in the modern world, people still stereotype
Germans. When looking at Germans, they are commonly recognized as murderers, and the
reason for the fall of Europe. Even if they weren t part of the war, people still stereotype Germans
as being bad people. Despite its past with Hitler and the Nazi regime, Germany has managed to
improve itself in order to become more advanced than most first world countries both socially and
economically. Immediately after the war ended, Germany began to redeem itself. Germany had to

The responsibility for WW2 and the national sentiment of guilt shaped the role of the German
politicians and citizens in Europe for decades (Davis). Germany was put in extreme debt and
poverty because of the fall of WW2, this led modern day Germany to feel the guilt for previous
events. Many citizens of Europe at the time, felt the impact of the war for many years after. Since
the end of WW2, Germany has performed many actions to make up for the destruction of Europe,
both physically and emotionally. Germany realized that in the event that it were to rejoin the
international community, it would not run from its crimes but had to confront them (Rienzi).
Because of Germany s big impact on the rest of the world, it felt the need to make up for Hitler s
previous behavior. To do this Germany had to make up for the purpose of what had happened in
the past, instead of ignoring it. Germany has proven its change, in the fact that it is at this point of
time, economically stable. Germany...has grown to become the fourth largest economy in the
world...at the end of WW2...70 years ago the country lay in ruins (Rienzi). Germany s government
has done a lot to prove itself guilt free, by focusing on its economy and the citizens. Germany has
been trying to come to terms with anti semitism and has made the denial of the Holocaust
punishable by law (Rienzi). Germany wants

Clubs Vs. Casinos
Las Vegas is home to some of the most profitable clubs and casinos in the entire world. Many of
these firms manage to profit exorbitantly despite residing in markets that have some competitive
characteristics (such as fragmented industry and relatively undifferentiated products). Although
both types of firms are often very successful, there are stark differences between the two. One
significant difference between clubs and casinos is the price of alcohol. At Vegas casinos drinks
are typically very cheap (often times even complimentary), but at clubs across the street they are
quite expensive. Naturally, one might ask why this difference in prices exist. Fortunately, with a
little bit of information and the application of a few basic economic concepts the answer to this
question becomes quite apparent.
The answer to this question boils down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The odds are in the favor of the house over the long run, particularly when it comes to games of
chance. Games like keno, roulette, and craps earn casinos millions of dollars each year. A drink
may be sold at a price lower than it cost to produce, but the casino still profits from its sale. The
alcohol does not cost the casinos much and it leads to gamblers staying longer and making poor
decisions. Games of skill (i.e. Poker) are subject to far less house advantage, but alcohol typically
neutralizes any skill a gambler may have. Casino s are well aware of this and employ price
discrimination as well; they tend to serve alcohol to naГЇve tourists rather than experienced locals.
Casinos frequently price discriminate in the first degree as they charge a different price for every
unit consumed. This practice actually leads to the marginal revenue of alcohol increasing at some
points. At a certain point the marginal revenue of alcohol diminishes as people either become
rowdy or too intoxicated to gamble, but usually the casino has already

Each department had something to claim about the others; the lack of communication, confident and trust became the main reason of the uncomfortable situation. The business continued to be very competitive, morale was low and there were conflicts between workers and departments. The organization was not pulling things together and the lack of coordination was affecting their ability to develop new products. (Beer, M. 1983) One of the most complicated issues was in the Marketing department, but they were not the only ones with some difficulties. Sales blamed finance of the lack of information about the goals, manufacturing blamed sales of giving their products away at too low prices and marketing of not planning correctly in order to obtain the highest profits possible. There were rumors everywhere, some people said that Product Development s priorities were wrong and their projects were always late, but at the same time Marketing was irritated about the lack of collaboration and the negative attitude form Manufacturing. Every department was in chaos during those days and Mr. Joe Bennett had the responsibility to fix it. • 4. The Law Regarding Non Compete Agreements Essay Courts in Texas continue to struggle with the law regarding non compete agreements, as a recent decision by the Dallas Court of Appeals indicates. That opinion adds to the trouble Texas employers may face when they seek to protect their business interests through enforcement of existing non compete agreements with at will employees. A fundamental requirement for enforceability of a non compete agreement in Texas is that the agreement must be ancillary to or part of an otherwise enforceable agreement at the time the agreement is made. Tex. Bus. Com. Code §§ 15.50. If the only other agreement with the employee is the at will employment relationship, the covenant not to compete is not enforceable. Notwithstanding a reference in the statute to at will employment relationships, the Texas Supreme Court has held that an employment at will relationship, without more, does not constitute an otherwise enforceable agreement. Light v. Centel Cellular Co., 883 S.W.2d 642 (Tex. 1994). Employers often argue that a covenant not to compete can be ancillary to an agreement not to disclose confidential information. The court in the Light decision cited such an agreement, given in exchange for the employer actually providing the information, as an example of an otherwise enforceable agreement. Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of the American band Red Hot Chili Peppers, was blatant about his drug addiction. He even wrote a book about his life called Scar Tissue. Throughout his life there were ups and downs that shaped him to be who he is today. It is not the drug abuse that fascinates me about Kiedis but it is how he overcame who he was back then to whom he is today. People collected Vermeer s paintings for display throughout their homes. Gitlin sees Vermeer as the seventeenth century version of the media. In that time, the images painted were relative to the people s era and private world. In today s world Vermeer would be the equivalent to a celebrity photographer or movie director. If Vermeer, or any other artist of his time, were to see today s households, they would find that the once private space inside the home is now much more dominated by images of the outside world than what would have been possible in the 1600 s. As mentioned in Gitlin s research, statistics show that, watching TV is the dominant leisure activity of Americans, consuming 40 percent of the average person s free time as a primary activity [when people give television there undivided attention] (Gitlin 560). • 8. Nat Turner Essay Enslave Me Not Throughout the colonial period and the time leading up to the American civil war, one of the most important and controversial topics facing Americans was the idea of slavery. The notion of slavery is an odd and incredibly horrifying concept, that one man can own another man, or two men, or an entire family, just because of the color of their skin. No doubt the idea was racist and repulsive, but to many Men and Women in history, across the country and across the world, slavery was just a part of everyday life: they knew no different. So when those people who were being stripped from their homeland and brought over on ships to be sold at auction to the highest white bidder, began to question the sacredness of this terrible ... Nat is without a doubt a freedom fighter and although his fight ended in blood, it was necessary at the time to help to end the continuance of such a cruel and inhuman practice. Slavery in itself was much more horrifying than every white death that ensued following the rebellion combined. Oates s assertion that Turner s rebellion was the first war against slavery is incredibly accurate, except in one sense, one does not need to be African American to agree with this claim. Though an African American could view slavery as a much more personal subject, because it affected and enslaved many of their own ancestors, one does not need to be black to understand how terrible slavery actually is. Any single person who can assess slavery with an open mind and completely unbiased will see that the suggestion that one person can own another person solely because of the color of one s skin is completely inhumane, and it s absolutely no surprise that those who were being enslaved decided to react. One would expect with so much progress in medicine, vast improvements in our living /housing standards; raised awareness and understanding of issues relating to our cultural and genetic profiles, that this inequality would be on par with how society has overcome other inequalities including race and gender. Health and ill health on the basis of Cultural/Behaviour is explained as having direct relationships with social class and how their actions determine their health. My recent research is important due to the fact that these issues can no longer be ignored. If they are not resolved immediately, our correctional system will begin to spiral out of control, which could then result in a negative name being given to the system. Also, not only will the system continue to suffer, but society as a whole. Resolving these issues will not only benefit the former, current and future offenders, but all the employees of the criminal justice system as well. Overall, I hope you all understand my stance when it comes to taking action to resolve the issues the criminal justice system is currently facing. I feel together we can accomplish this major task. Masculism is one of the main theme shown throughout the book, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe. In the novel, women seem that they do not have any equal rights as men. Also, they have little power in their society and are often mistreat by men. However, women play key roles throughout the novel diversely. Through the main character, Okonkwo, women s role are well described in the novel. Women represent a symbol of wealth and education, and in the other hand, they represent both weak and strong. • 26. The Working Memory Model Proposed by Alan Baddeley and... That our memory isn t veridical is not a novel idea. This means that we don t perfectly remember everything that we have seen or experienced in the past. Broadly speaking, there are two fundamental memory errors that occur in everyday life. One is forgetting events that have occurred, and the other is remembering something that did not transpire (or misremembering them in the way that they occurred). The first error, forgetting, is very common, and needs no explanation. We can all think of instances where our memoryhas failed us. However, the latter error is a more curious scenario. Often times, when a friend mentions a funny episode that happened at a party you were at, you might incorporate that into your memory even though you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is to say that the brain works on the information even after we store it in our memories. And therein lies the problem. The fact that our cognitive system processes raw data in order to make better sense of it is a probable cause of the aforementioned lapse in our memory. This experiment aims to study whether the information processing in our cognitive systems leads to the formation of false/illusory memories, and if so, what are the possible reasons as to why these false memories take shape. The experiment was in the form of a word recognition test. Participants went through a list of 12 words; the words were all thematically related (car, wheel, bike, motorcycle ...), with the exception of one of two in the list (pencil). After they had gone through the list, they were presented with another set of words, and were asked to recognize which of those words had been present in the initial list. Each of these recognition sets contained at least one word that belonged to the same overarching theme of the initial list, but wasn t actually present in it (brakes). Thus, there were three types of words participants could have chosen on the recognition sets : words that appeared on the list, words that did not appear, but were related to the ones on the list, and those ... The drought in the western United States has been going on for nearly five years and while there are countless ways to lessen the effects, there isn t much action being taken. If nothing is done, the supply of groundwater in the United States along with the quality of it will greatly diminish within the next few decades. In many Western states such as California, the residents haven t been taking much notice to the situation due to their use of the use of water from aquifers and reservoirs without strict regulations. The continuous use of water from these aquifers will eventually result in empty aquifers and no fresh, potable water for residents in the affected areas and in order for a change to actually be made the people must realize what kind of situation they are actually in and that if they do not follow regulations put forth they will be in a dangerous situation. Aquifers are being tapped into in order to supplement the water not being provided naturally throughout the drought. The water being taken from these aquifers are distributed for many different uses, but the number one consumer of this water is agriculture. In the United States around 80 percent of the nation s consumption of water goes towards agricultural purposes and in western states almost 90 percent of their water supply (USDA, 2013). He began the Roman transition from a republic to an empire. Caesar united Rome under his ruthless power; he controlled religion, senate, and the military. He almost made himself emperor, and this was the fact that inspired his assassination. Caesar was born in Rome on July 12 or 13, 100 BC. He started his education early, as a young man he was placed under the tutorship of M. Antonius Gnipho, a freeborn native of Gaul. Antonius was a well educated man, and well read in Greek and Latin. Shortly before he took his position he lost his aunt and his wife. When he returned to Rome and married Pompeia, this strange marriage has been considered a politically tactical move in order to gain an eventual strategic advantage. In 67 BC Pompey the Great had supreme command in the east. Licinius Crassus a rich partician, was bitterly jealous of Pompey s successes. These two men rivaled for the next dictatorship, so in order to keep up with Pompey, Crassus needs the popular support of the people. Who better to help Crassus then the outspoken and popular Julius Caesar, this alliance was considered a marriage de convenance. Caesar was a governor in Spain for a year, he returned in 60 BC. It was at this point that Julius formed a three way alliance with Crassus and Pompey. This was known as the First Triumvirate. To cement their relationship further, Caesar gave his daughter Julia to Pompey in marriage. The Gallic wars started in 58 BC, this is because the Helvetii, a Gallic people, were invading a Roman allied tribe known as the Aedui. However, little is known about how molecular compositions define different types and functions of synapses and how different synapses organize in micro and macroscale to give rise to complex brain functions and disorders, due to lack of appropriate tools to characterize synaptic biomolecules in situ in large scale. Here, I propose a novel research program to develop transformative tools for large scale mapping of synaptic biomolecules, functional imaging of neurotransmission and neuronal signaling.
