Beowulf
Story The main protagonist, Beowulf, a hero of the Geats, comes to the aid of
Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, whose great hall, Heorot, is plagued by the
monster Grendel. Beowulf kills Grendel with his bare hands and Grendel s mother
with a sword, which giants once used, that Beowulf found in Grendel s mother s
lair. Later in his life, Beowulf is himself king of the Geats, and finds his realm
terrorised by a dragon whose treasure had been stolen from his hoard in a burial
mound. He attacks the dragon with the help of his thegns or servants, but they do
not succeed. Beowulf decides to follow the dragon into its lair, at Earnanæs, but
only his young Swedish relative Wiglaf dares join him. Beowulf finally slays the
dragon, but is mortally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beowulf descends to do battle with the dragon but finds himself outmatched. His
men, upon seeing this display and fearing for their lives, creep back into the
woods. One of his men, however, Wiglaf, who finds great distress in seeing
Beowulf s plight, comes to Beowulf s aid. The two slay the dragon, but Beowulf is
mortally wounded. Beowulf is buried in Geatland on a cliff overlooking the sea,
where sailors are able to see his tumulus. The dragon s treasure is buried with him,
in accordance with Beowulf s wishes, rather than distributed to his people, and
there is a curse associated with the hoard to ensure that Beowulf s wish is kept. It
is widely accepted that there are three funerals in Beowulf. The funerals are also
paired with the three battles described above.[8] The three funerals share
similarities regarding the offerings for the dead and the change in theme through
the description of each funeral. Gale Owen Crocker (Professor of Anglo Saxon,
University of Manchester) in The Four Funerals in Beowulf (2000) argues that a
passage in the poem, commonly known as The Lay of the Last Survivor (lines
2247 66), is an additional funeral.[8] The funerals are themselves involved in the
ritual of hoarding: the deposition of sacrificial objects with both religious and socio
economic functions.[9] First Funeral: Scyld Scefing (lines 1 52) The first funeral in
the poem is of Scyld Scefing (translated in some versions as

The Harley Owners Group (HOG)
The Harley Owners Group or HOG is a factory sponsored motorcycle enthusiast
club established in 1983. Its main aim was to negate the influence of outlaw bike
gangs as the face of the Harley Davidson brand and enhance the lifestyle experience
of a Harley Davidson owner. This was the roadmap of the firm s broad philosophy
of getting close to the customer. There was a great need to address two main issues
with respect to the brand. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Posse 2 was described as the border to border ride from Texas to North Dakota
passing through the legendary, Road to Nowhere . The registration limit for this
ride was increased to 400 to accommodate the increasing interest in the Posse Ride,
while at the same time preserving the exclusivity of the ride. Though many
members did not approve of the route for the 2nd ride, they were actively interested
in coming for it because it was the ride and not the route which mattered for them.
This very aptly epitomises the entire concept of the Posse Ride. The Posse rides thus
went a long way in addressing the issues of customer loyalty faced by the firm.
Analysis of the Posse Riders
The riders of the Posse ride are an integral part of the whole concept and their
attitudes and perception regarding the ride is what builds the brand community for
Harley. This ride has been intended as a learning process for the riders as they are
passionate about their Harleys and riding them. The ride will cement not only their
initial perception about the brand but will also build new linkages.
We look at the Fishbein multi attribute model which helps us to figure out the score a
customer attributes to the various dimensions to the brand. As the riders take part in
the Posse experience, they already have built in ratings for the various attributes that
contribute to the overall Harley Brand equity. The ride is a crucial exercise to change

Although the construct, disposition, in teacher education may be redundant now, it is
not entirely inadequate as it may provide a pilot hypothesis for further investigations
(Murray, 2007; Windschitl, 2003). The implications from the previous studies provide
the groundwork for exploring teacher dispositions. In order to effectively investigate
this, a definition for dispositions by our governing bodies must be identified. NCATE
now defines Professional Dispositions as: Professional attitudes, values, and beliefs
demonstrated through both verbal and non verbal behaviors as educators interact
with students, families, colleagues, and communities. These positive behaviors
support student learning and development (2007). Institutions take their own stab at
defining dispositions in many ways. The National Association for the Education of
Young Children states in order to enact and examine surface disposition: All
teaching staff evaluates and improve their own performance based on ongoing
reflection and feedback from supervisors, peers and families. They add to their
knowledge and increase their ability to put knowledge into practice. They develop an

to increase a firm s value or benefit the firm s operations. Assets are probable future
economic benefits obtained or controlled by an entity as a result of past transactions

In 2015, net cash was $21,250 million compared to $17,047 in 2016, which
indicates a 20% decrease. $11,898 million was reported for 2017 and is a decrease

from operating activities relative to net income. Investing activities of $12,475
million increased from 2015 to $16,069 in 2017, which is an increase of 29%. This
increase reflects the acquisitions Gilead obtained to expand its pipeline in the
biotechnology industry and to stay ahead of the competition. Financing activities
increased from 2015 to 2016 and decreased from 2016 to 2017. The increase
between 2015 and 2016 was 65% and was mainly due to repurchases in common
stock in 2016 amounting to $11,001 million and payment of dividends of $2,455
million. The decrease was mainly due to decline in repurchases of common stock.

percentage of sales is reducing drastically. This focus on HIV treatments can be seen
as a lack of diversity and can become a possible weakness for the company in the
future. Given this possible weakness, the company started researching and

India s First Genetic Breeding Program Using The Germ...
Keggfarms was established by Vinod Kapur in the year 1967. It is one of India s
oldest poultry centric organisations, set up with the intent to make essential
contributions to the development of poultry in India. This was made possible by
pioneering India s first Genetic Breeding Program using the germ plasm (pure
breeding stock). Keggfarms was among the first companies, in the developing world
to come up with this with demonstrable results. As a result of Keggfarms
intervention, India could stand as the only country outside the developed world,
which is self sufficient and self reliant in high yielding poultryand is able to compete
favourably with the very best in the world. Therefore, this industry has developed on
the basis of a concept that was pioneered and validated by Keggfarms.
Vinod Kapur says that he started dreaming about establishing a poultry breeding farm
after a deeply thoughtful, but casual conversation with his father in 1963. The facts
that poultry breeding was a pristine and untested genre in India and related to social
concerns were major motivational factors for him. He quit his position at Western
Indian Match Company (WIMCO) to create India s first genetic poultry breeding
farm that he had purchased from Parks Poultry Farm in the United States. Keggfarms
successful experience at genetically breeding poultry in India eventually led the still
protectionist Indian government to mandate that all poultry breeding stocks be bred
in India.

Siemens Ag Bribery
Siemens AG Bribery Scandal This paper will focus on the analysis of the well
known and popular bribery scandal in the world, such as Siemens AG Bribery
Scandal which occurred in November, 2006. Siemens AG is one of the largest and
most popular electrical engineering companies operated in the world. The present
company was founded in 1847 in Berlin and is now headquartered in Munich,
Germany. The discussion and the proper analysis of this briberyscandal will help to
learn many effective lessons from this situation helping organizations and individuals
to avoid such cases and experiences in the future. Siemens was considered one of the

Deming stated that Siemens AG failed to have and publicize a system whereby
employees and agents could report or seek guidance regarding potential or actual
criminal conduct without fear of retaliation (Deming 91). Siemens Company and
people working there on a regular basis faced a great number of disadvantages
associated with the decisions that led to the bribery scandals. The major
disadvantages included not only great financial losses due to fines and court
procedures but mainly the lack of trust and confidence on the part of customers,
investors, business partners and other persons. Siemens simply had to re gain trust
and respect in the world trying to remain competitive, successful and productive either
on the national or international business arena. These disadvantages surely affect the
organization s values, beliefs, culture, control, and its strategic ways of doing
business in the modern competitive environment. Brooks and Dunn stated that each
line of business had a managing director and a separate managing board, and this
structure inhibited accountability and allowed corruption to spread (Brooks and
Dunn 291). The great number of persons was convicted in making illegal payments
and being involved into fraudulent bribery activities, such as Andreas Kley, Johannes

You don t need to meet your clients face to face. Everything can be done by mail,

is your only venture outdoors. You do not need any type of license to do this type of
work. What exactly is JUDICIAL JUDGMENT RECOVERY? First let s call it JJR
for short. Then let s break it down one word at a time. 2
A) JUDICIAL means (in this case) a legal court of law . B) JUDGMENT means
the determination of the court , a legal obligation as determined by the judge. C)
RECOVERY means the act of becoming lost). If you know what a court order is
then you already have a good idea. A court order is pretty much a judicial judgment
in that they both mean, in essence, As Ordered By The Court . So what does it mean
to us? It means that when one person (the plaintiff), sues another person (the
defendant), in small claims court, and wins, it s because the court ordered the
defendant, now known as the judgment debtor, to pay the plaintiff, usually, a said
dollar amount. So now the plaintiff is awarded a piece of paper proclaiming them a
judgment winner. But are they really the winner? The easy part was winning the
case. Now comes the difficult part, and that is getting the judgment debtor to actually
pay up. You see, the court cannot collect the money for the judgment winners. It is
actually up to the judgment winners to collect their own judgments. But with no
pressure to
Comparing Bartleby, The Scrivener And The Overcoat
In both Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Nikolai Gogol s The
Overcoat, the reader is given insight about the different workings society has on two
copyists. Both, Akaky and Bartleby make a living off copying papers, and can be
considered as the heros of their stories. Though, both of their mannerisms are out of
place and foolish in their given society; the authors display different settings,
character arcs, and motivations to showcase the slow burn psychological and physical
effects society has on the protagonist. Even though Bartleby s passive nature in a
capitalist dominant economy leads him to his death, Akaky stumbling upon
materialism in a classist Russia can be ascertained to have been deadlier than
passiveness. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly to Bartleby, in The Overcoat, Akaky Akakievich is a copyist who went
about his work mindlessly. Gogol depicts Akaky as an outlier among his peers, and
deemed to be the only clerk who served his job with love (313). The author portrays
Akaky as an aloof fellow, who has no idea about his surrounding for he is always
focused on his writings (Gogol 313). When the Russian s worst enemy, winter,
arrives; his overcoat is too old and broken down to protect him from the cold
weather. His current overcoat is ridiculed and mockingly called a peignoir by his
fellow clerks (Gogol 315). The arc shifts when his tailor, Petrovich, makes him a
new overcoat from cheap material that resembles the ones worn by the rich (Gogol
320). The coat heightens how Akaky viewed himself, and how his peers view him.
However, he is robbed of his coat on the way home from his Chief Assistant Clerk s
party (Gogol 323). In the latter part of his character arc, he valued the search of his
overcoat more than his livelihood. He decides to search for the overcoat with the
help of higher officials. After failed attempts with different people, he tries his luck
with the Very Important Person who put the nail to the coffin in Akaky s life but not
his arc(Gogol 324) . After his death Akaky is seen as an apparition trying to steal the
overcoats of others. He tormented other s until he steals the overcoat of the Very

He was arrested again on August 5, 1962 and charged with inciting people to strike

in prison after being found guilty of sabotage and attempting to overthrow the
government. While he was in prison, police raided an ANC safe house in Rivonia,
a suburb of Johannesburg, as a result of which Mandela and a number of comrades
were tried for treason. After first being acquitted in 1963, they were retried in the
celebrated Rivonia trial, and in 1964 Mandela and seven comrades were convicted
of sabotage and treason and sentenced to life in prison. Mandela spent the next 27

Itemized Tax Deductions for Individuals: Data Analysis
Summary
Reforming or limiting itemized tax deductions for individuals has gained the interest
of policymakers as one way to increase federal tax revenue, increase the share of
taxes paid by higher income tax filers, simplify the tax code, or reduce incentives that
might lead to inefficient economic behavior. However, limits on deductions could

However, certain combinations of deduction limits may shift some tax filers to claim
the standard deduction instead of itemizing. In this case, the revenue increase by

When people hear of the place Romania, not very many people know about its very
existence, much less where it is located on a map. Romania is not a well known
country, but it is somewhat known for its gypsies, castles, wine, and for Dracula
himself. Romania is a beautiful country filled with amazing landscape such as
fascinating forests, majestic mountains, and raging rivers. Romania also is a very

Romanians will go to the utmost extreme of providing extravagant food,
entertainment, and ceremonies. Before the wedding, the groom will visit the
house of the bride to bring her to the place where the wedding will be held. All of
the many people involved in the wedding then proceed in their cars to the wedding.
Typically, they will drive leisurely and will honk at pedestrians to cheer for the
couple. Once the procession reaches the place of the wedding, which will usually
be an Orthodox church, the priest will lead the people into the main auditorium for
the ceremony. The ceremony itself, which is comprised of the priest blessing the
couple, reading from the Bible, and singing, could take up to three hours. After the
ceremony, the couple drinks from the same glass of wine and eat the same piece of
bread to symbolize unity. After the couple is unified, they proceed to visit the
numerous pictures of Jesus and the saints and kiss them. Once the entire ceremony is
over, the bride and groom normally take their guests to a restaurant of some sort to
have refreshments and entertainment. Some weddings go as far as buying fireworks
and lighting them after midnight symbolizing the first day of being married. This
time of refreshing and entertainment could last between a weekend and a whole
week. The final tradition that is most prominent in Romanian culture is funerals.

Hurricane Detector Research Paper
Do you recall watching TV, or listening to music, when a weather alert comes out?
Hurricane hunters are the people who find and detect storms that can cause potential
harm and damage. The dropsonde hurricane detector is an instrument they use to
calculate the intensity, humidity, air pressure, and other factors essential to predict
the outcome of the storm.
Hurricane hunters drop this instrument into the ocean, and immediately, information
comes pouring in. According to Harriet Jane Caldwell, The devices fall to the
ocean and transmit bursts of data to the airplane twice every second. (Caldwell, 10)
The result of this is a more thorough analysis, as well as immediate updates on the
severity of a storm. Caldwell also says, The data includes temperature, humidity,
atmospheric pressure, as well as the speed and direction of winds. (Caldwell, 10) Not
only does the dropsonde help predict a storm s intesity, but it also helps determine the
location of where the storm will hit. Through the wind direction and intesity,
forecasters and others will be able to tell in which direction the storm ... Show more

Caldwell tells us that, A nor easter can unload significant amounts of snow and
bring hurricane force winds that whip up the ocean to flood the coast. (Caldwell,

from a colder catastrophe. Caldwell then goes on to say, Before a nor easter can
form, pilots fly their planes at high altitudes over the ocean and release dropsondes to
collect data on the air conditions that exist ahead of the weather system. (Caldwell,

of having a plethora of snow, with a flooded house. It is due to this versatile and

Police Misconduct On The Street Still Continue
Throughout...
Over the years, law enforcement has been involved in many of unethical events
that caused the community to lose trust in them. There are many of reasons why it
is difficult for the police to have interaction with the citizens of the community.
One reason the community do not trust the police is because of racial profiling.
Racial profiling has been going on for years and now the community is getting
tired of it. An example of racial profiling is a group of black teenagers being pulled
over because of the kind of car they are driving. Along with this act and many of
other policecorruption acts has caused the community to question themselves about
law enforcement. Many of concerns about police misconducton the street still
continue throughout the community. Cities across the globe have experienced
intense altercations stemming from deadly shootings of citizens and allegations of
excessive use of force. Police are sworn in to Protect and Serve everyone in the
community no matter what racethey are. Less than a week after Katrina hit New
Orleans on September 4, 2005, police executed 40 year old Ronald Madison and
17 year old James Brissette and injured four others. Five of the New Orleans covered
up the corruption by lying saying that people was shooting when they arrived at the
scene. When the officers arrived at the Danziger Bridge they just started shooting at
unarmed victims. Officers covered up the killing by planting a gun at the scene,

Herbert Hoover s The Great Depression
Herbert Hoover got many things wrong about the great economic calamity that
destroyed his presidency and his historical reputation, but he got one thing right.
Much legend to the contrary, the Great Depression was not entirely, perhaps not even
principally, made in America. The primary cause of the Great Depression, was the war
of 1914 1918. Though economists and historians continue to this day to debate the
proximate causes of the Great Depression, there can be little doubt that the deepest
roots of the crisis lay in the several chronic infirmities that afflicted the post World
War I international economic order and touched every country on the planet. The
fighting had taken a cruel toll on key economies like those of Britain, France, and
Germany, the core societies of the advanced industrialized world. The lingering
distortions in trade, capital flows, and exchange rates occasioned by the heedlessly
punitive Treaty of Versailles, as the economist John Maynard Keynes observed at the
time, managed to perpetuate in peacetime the economic disruptions that had brought
so much hardship in wartime. What was more, memories of the war s bitter fighting
and vengeful conclusion rendered the post war international atmosphere toxic,
poisoning the wells of traditional diplomacy and dooming any efforts at concerted
multi lateral action to deal with the gathering crisis. To those abundant physical and
institutional ills might be added the psychological maladies of
Drug Trafficking Struggles
As previously stated, the FARC one of the richest rebel movements in the world, but
its difficult to understand why although they preach about inequality and have one of
the highest incomes, Colombia still continues to experience poverty and inequality.
The organization has resorted to extortion and kidnapping in order to attain large
sums of money and their illegal drug trafficking business are extremely profiting, so
where does all of their money go? Their total revenues from 1991 1999 estimated
nearly U.S. $3.2 billion. They manage their investment strategies and financial
institutions outside of Colombia, by storing their money outside of the country they
are able to purchase weapons through international criminal networks (International
Peace Academy Inc., 2003). I include the used of the word terrorism in the previous
explanation of the drug trade in order to emphasize the tactics that were implemented
by the FARC in order to gain power. One of the most interesting aspects to analyze

The root cause of these causalities and the continuous war is political conflict, the
different points of view and opposing political spectrums is what continues to
maintain the conflict of Colombia. Now the FARC is one of the richest and most
powerful entities due to drug trafficking its quite difficult to find a common
ground with them and the Colombian government. Many peace agreements have
been drafted but had yet to be sustainable. There s a large gap that needs to be filled
in response to fining an individual who is responsible and will pay the
consequences of the damages (Richani, 2013). The problem doesn t only lie
amongst the armed forces, it also lies in the government s inability to provide what
the people need. Both political stands and talks of peace are hard to unite as they

Oliver Twist Dialectical Journal
Chapter 1 The arrival of Oliver Twist was quite a depressing one and it seemed
rather shocking the type of treatment women who were not married received.
Unmarried pregnant women seem to be treated like debris, left on the street. I
hope to see that women are treated more equally in the later chapters. Chapter 2:
The conditions Oliver Twist was in raising up were simply horrifying. It is utterly
terrible that Oliver was constantly hungry during the when he was in Mrs. Mann s
house and I can not believe how greedy Mrs. Mann was to take money that was
supposed to be for the children and use it for herself. The working conditions Oliver
went through were horrid and I hope they change their policy and actually feed their

Oh the absolute pain poor little innocent Oliver Twist must be feeling! Ouch I can

Clown Loach Fish Research Paper
To be the most popular, people have to like you for some reason. They don t have
to be able to identify or understand the reason, it just has to be there. In the case of
clown loach fish it is easy to see that it is their personality that makes them so
popular. If you have done everything right in your aquarium and your clown loaches
feel comfortable, they will put on a show for you.
Often, the clowns will appear to dance. They re movements will be very skittish and
usually rhythmic, so it looks like dancing. They ll do it solo and in groups. A group
activity they engage in is what I call the Volcano Tumble (volcano because of their
color and the tumble needs a little more explanation). This is a vertically oriented

Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis
Pre implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) is a procedure couples use to test the
normality of their offspring s genes. This procedure is used for couples that have a
known risk of passing on a genetic abnormality to their offspring. PGD is used all
around the world to help couples become pregnant with healthy babies that aren t
diagnosed with a genetic disease passed down from them. PGD is used to select an
embryo that isn t affected by a genetic disease such as cystic fibrosis. PGD is
available to test for single genedisorders, translocations, inversions, chromosomal,
aneuploidy or X linked disorders. Pre implantation Genetic Diagnosis is a procedure
used prior to implantation to help identify genetic defects within embryos. This
serves to prevent certain genetic diseases or disorders from being passed on to the
child. The embryos used in PGD are usually created during the process of in vitro
fertilisation(IVF). When used to screen for a specific genetic disease, its main
advantage is that it avoids selective pregnancytermination as the... Show more content

Those eggs are then fertilised using the male partner s sperm. The resulting embryos
are cultured in the laboratory.
At day 3 of the embryo development, a small hole is made on the outside shell of
the embryo (the zona pellucida) with a delicate laser beam. On day 5/6, an embryo
biopsy is performed. By this time, the embryo should have reached the blastocyst
stage which consists of an inner cell mass (forms the foetus) and trophectoderm cells
(forms the placenta). The trophectoderm cells should have herniated through the hole
made in the outer shell of the embryo on day 3 in which these cells (approximately
five cells) are collected for analysis.
The biopsied cells are transferred to a small tube for genetic testing. Due to the time
taken to perform the genetic testing, the embryos must be frozen after the
The Sound Of Silence By Simon And Garfunkel
The sound of silence The sound of silence was originally composed by Simon and
Garfunkel in 1964 and it was number one on billboard s hot 100 for a week.
Originally this song falls under the folk rock and soft rock genres. The two covers
I have choose are by Disturbed (2015) and Touch of Glass (2016). While many
older people have heard of the song sound of silence by Simon and Garfunkel most
of the younger generation have only heard of the song by Disturbed with many
people believing that disturbed wrote the song in the first place. Most people have
never heard of Touch of Glass let alone that they sung this cover. The most major
difference I have found between all 3 songs is the mood that artist gives off. With
Simon and Garfunkel giving off more of a upbeat and funky mood that makes the
song seem to have good feelings attached to it. Then Disturbed gives off more of a
dark and foreboding mood that leaves the listener feeling lonely. Then Touch of
Glass in my opinion gives off a more country and western mood that shows
hardship in life. Simon and Garfunkel is trying to show silence and darkness as
more of a friend that you are glad to see and to show that silence is not a bad thing
with their tone. Disturbed on the other hand is trying to show the sound of silence
and darkness as more of a old friend you would rather not meet until the very end.
Very similar with Disturbed s song the Touch of Glass they seem to try to tell you of
the hardship of silence and

I stared at myself in the mirror, the image of myself seeming to distort. Tears

college student to write effectively while arranging proper thoughts in a paragraph. It
is very important to focus yourself while writingabout a topic. I have learned about
the importance of writing in a good organized way with proper punctuation.
A good sentence is created without the use of run on. When I attended this class
for the first time I was so bad at writing good sentences. I used to write so many run
ons without my realization. Slowly, with the passage of 2 weeks of class, I learned
that run ons play an important role in writing especially when you are writing your

two or more independent clauses without the use of proper punctuation or

River Valley Civilization
The Yellow River Valley Civilization is one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
It is also the main source of Chinese civilization. The Yellow River is not just a
river, the name stands for the origins of their culture and civilization. It has been
referred to as the Mother River to the Chinese and the Cradle of Chinese
Civilization. The River was the birth place of ancient civilizations in the Xia and
Shang eras from 2100 1600 BC and 1600 1046 BC. The religions of the Chinese,
were the most prosperous in early Chinese history. The people regarded yellow as a
color of ancient origins, an emblem of the loess land the Yellow Riverflows through,
the yellow skin of the Chinese, the legendary Chinese Dragon from whom they are
descendants from, and the emperor. The Yellow River Valley Civilization had two

They occur in connection with use of electric power, electronic surveillance

with respect to strengths and physical characteristics, they all give rise to concern
among those exposed about the possibility of health risks. It is well established
that strong fields can give rise to acute health effects, such as burns, but exposure
guidelines and regulations protect effectively against such effects. Current
concerns are instead directed towards the possibility that long term exposure to
weak fields might have detrimental health effects due to some, to date unknown,
biological mechanism. Due to the widespread use of these techniques and the very
prevalent exposure to some of the types of field involved, even a weak association
with disease risk could have strong impacts on public health. Although the
likelihood of such a scenario is debatable, it is the opinion of many that close
monitoring of health risks among exposed subjects is a high priority. Indeed,
extensive research is ongoing and has been so for several years. A report linking
childhood cancer mortality to the presence of power lines in the near proximity to
the children s homes about 25 years ago spurred the interest in power frequency
fields1 . This interest has remained high ever since, although it has gradually shifted
towards other types of field, and in particular towards those used in connection with
telecommunications. The objective of this paper is to discuss the evidence pertaining
to the possibility that long term exposure to weak fields of the types discussed above
may be associated with health
Historical Context Analysis
Studying the context in which a text was written provides valuable insight to the
outside factors that may have had an influence on the text and its original meaning.
This includes the type of government, societal norms, and the type of education
available. These factors influence the gender norms and their specific roles in society
during that time. The Household Codes were written during in ancient times under a
Greco Roman government. As a result of this type of government, specific laws and
standards were set in place by the government and reinforced by society which had an
influence over what women were able to do. Prominent ways of thought in those
societies also had an impact on the New Testament writings since they influenced the

When the historical context is recognized, the text will be interpreted in a way that
the author had intended and not taken out of context. This is essential for modern
interpreters of the Bible because the social location of the individuals in the present
society is different from the individuals in antiquity.
When interpreting the Bible, there are multiple methods that can be used and
different presuppositions that the reader can bring to their understanding of the
material. According to Hauer and Young, there are three complementary paths a
modern reader can take in serious study of the Bible (Hauer, 1). One of these paths
includes analyzing the historical world of the Bible. The historical world refers to
the events and situations that form contexts for understanding the Bible as it was
being written and interpreted (Hauer, 1). These refer to things such as wars or the
type of government that is in control because that affects the audience of the writing
and what issues within the community are being addressed by the writer. The Bible
has a large influence over modern society because it was composed in, and became
part of history (Hauer, 1). With such a long history, the Bible has been established as

Steroids in Sports Do you know what proper steroid use can do for you in sports?
Steroids are a synthetic form of the male hormone testosterone and can help your
body be the best that it can be and improve your game. Steroids have been used as
early as 776 BC in the original Olympic Games by the ancient Greeks to enhance
their performance. There are many different forms of this drug some you take by

benefits, but when used irresponsibly the drug can cause serious damage to the body
and in severe cases it can cause death. There are already many forms of legal steroids
called test booster, this supplement boosts the testosterone levels in the body for
muscle growth. Test boosters are much milder than actual steroids but they are still
considered steroids. Steroids are great at speeding up the recovery of your muscles,
it does this with the male hormone testosterone. Some of the steroids you can take
by mouth are Anadrol, Anavar, Dianabol, Halotestin, and Primobolin. Some of the
popular injectable steroids are Stanozolol, Enanthate, Propionate, and Cypionate. I
think that steroids should be allowed in today s sports only for the fact that it
speeds up muscle recovery and muscle growth. An athlete s career is short enough as
it is, with the proper use of steroids it can help them recover from an injury faster that

The Uglie Critical Analysis
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, the word realization is defined as, an
act of becoming fully aware of something as a fact. Being able to realize the
ultimate desires and goals in life is apart of each of the texts. In the book The Uglies
by Scott Westerfeld, the story shows characters realizing objectives through point of
view when Tally Youngblood
is faced with the truth about getting an operation to
become pretty. Likewise, in The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri, the
message of realization is developed through symbolism of the narrator s experience
in a new world. The theme as shown in The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff
Marano is expressed through conflict. The use of point of view, symbolism and
conflict create the theme, a person must become self aware to realize their goals, in
the texts The Ugliesby Scott Westerfeld, The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa
Lahiri, and The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff Marano. In The Uglies, the
lesson of becoming self aware is communicated through the main character, Tally
Youngblood s, point of view. At first, Tally Youngblood longs to receive an
operation to turn herself pretty after being viewed as ugly most of her life. After
she was denied the surgery because of complications with a friend, she started
becoming sensitive about the label given to her. The author wrote, She d been an

The Spiritual Lessons From Joshua
Introduction
Spiritual Lessons From Joshua
Joshua was deeply devoted to God, the God of Israel, and a loyal servant of Moses.
He took charge of Israel after the death of Moses, and he gave instructions to carry
the Arc of the Covenant across the Jordan River, which parted as did the Red Sea.
He lead Israel around the city of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down and he
lead Israel s conquest of the promise land.
There has been no day like the day that God heeded Joshua s command for the sun to
stand still for one whole day. In light of all this it is interesting, even somewhat
puzzling, that Joshua is not even named by the apostle Paul as one of the great
heroes of faith in Hebrews 11.
There are two hundred and one Bible references to Joshua, which leaves us with
many valuable lessons; there are very few more dramatic examples of faith in the
entire Bible. So why did the apostle Paul leave Joshua s name out of the list of the
faithful in Hebrews 11?
Could it have been because the long list of Joshua s accomplishments over shadowed
the man himself? Or the things that God did through him were so great that the
events actually eclipsed Joshua deeds?
There are plenty of spiritual lessons to be found in the book of Joshua. I just wish to
highlight a few here are seven of them.
First, good leaders must first be good servants.
Second, impossible situations provide glorious opportunities to trust God.
Third, the key to strength and courage is God s abiding presence.

Blink By Malcolm Gladwell Blink
Overview
In Malcolm Gladwell s novel Blink, the author conveys a message on the
significance and power of our snap judgements and split second decisions. He
explains the influential strength of our subconscious that controls our intuitions
and perceptions that translates into our daily actions. These daily actions occur
via thorough thinking or through a simple technique Gladwell calls, thin slicing .
Specifically, this technique showcases how an individual can extract in depth
details about a situation, only given a snapshot of a given scenario. Gladwell
explains, If he [researcher John Gottman] analyzes an hour of a husband and wife
talking, he can predict with 95 percent accuracy whether that couple will still be
married fifteen years later. If we watched a couple for fifteen minutes, his success
rate is around 90 percent. From this, Gladwell expands to educate his readers on
how to exploit these instincts in order to live our lives more efficiently. Or, in his
words, to think without thinking . However, Gladwell does outline the dangers of
thin slicing when done inaccurately exemplified by fatal police shootings conducted
by officers who ve misjudged a situation such as Amanda Diallo s case. Additionally,
thin slicing can backlash when individuals are racist or prejudice. Overall, Gladwell
provides his readers with a wholesome perspective on thin slicing before stating his
opinion on the benefits and successes of utilizing our natural human intuitions to live

Comparing Kubrick s Film And Burgess Essay
A difference and slight similarity between Kubrick s Film and Burgess novella is
the narration. In both, Alex is the narrator and uses Nadsat vocabulary to describe
his acts of violence, however, the film narrative is perceived as less powerful as the
novella. In the book, Alex s narration accentuates his cruelty, pleasure, and lack of
remorse. His pleasure is highlighted in the book displaying his dark thoughts, making
the novella A Clockwork Orangeappear to be a more grotesque piece in language
than the film. This is evident in an act of violence, the raping of two ten year old
girls. In the film, Alexhas what appears to be consensual sex with two women around
or a few youngers than himself, that the met in a record store. In the novel, he meets
two ten year old girls instead and purchases them some food in addition. He then
convinces them to come with him where they become intoxicated and he rapes them.
Alex in the novella narrates the aftermath,
They looked like they had been in some big bitva, as indeed they had, and were all
bruised and pouty. Well, if they would not go to school they would still have their
education. And education they had had. They were creeching and going ow ow ow
as they put their platties on, and they were like punchipunching me with their teeny
fists as I lay there dirty and nagoy and fair shagged and fagged on the bed. (36)
Whereas the film, nothing but the scene of Alex and the two young women having
sex is shown. Another difference
The Weimar Government And The Causes Of The Weimar
Republic
While war reparations rocked the Weimar Republic, debt wracked the farmers in the
French Republic, leading to dissent and disillusionment amongst the citizens. In this
period of instability, the inability of the republics to propose legislation without
dissent opened way for new leaders taking advantage of the situation, promising a
more unified and better society.
With the fall of major monarchies, both France and Germany strived to create
representative governments that listened to the needs of the people. However, that
did not work out as intended, with the government focusing more on the upper class
rather than the peasants that made up the majority of the fledgling republic s
population. For example, the Constitution of 1793, advocated by Maximilien
Robespierre, granted universal suffrage for men. Even with the increased rights for
the people, the government did not ratify legislation that appealed to the majority of
the population, the peasants. Instead, legislation that abolished property requirements
for farmers, de christianized society, and created a republic calendar did not appeal
to the farmers swimming in debt with a lack of food on the table (Tocqueville). As a
result, the new republic enabled the common people to voice out against them, rather
than for them. After a few centuries, the Weimar Republicfaced a similar situation.
With much of the country disillusioned after their loss in World War I
, the citizens
looked towards the new Weimar Republic for a

Case Study of Toshiba Accounting Scandal
Facts
Toshiba s history dates back to 1875 in Japan. For the fiscal year ending March 31,
2015,
Toshiba s net worldwide sales were greater than $63 billion and employed more
than 200,000 people worldwide (Carpenter, 2015). In April of 2015, the company
came forth and made an announcement that it was having accounting problems.
However, the severity of the scandal became known early in September 2015
(Addady, 2015). The shares took a dive after the April announcement. In July 2015,
CEO Hisao Tanaka resigned after facing this accounting scandal and was a direct
link to $1.2 billion in overstated profits (Carpenter, 2015). Toshiba s first remedy
was a management change. The company overstated its earnings close to $2 billion
over the past seven years (Addady, 2015).
The investigation panel report revealed that the external auditors failed to discover
the inappropriate accounting issues, the involvement of two former CEOs, Atsutoshi
Nishida (2005
2009) and Norio Sasaki
Staffing System For A Job
Maria Romano MGE 629 HW#3 Chapter #7 1.Imagine and describe a staffing
system for a job in which no measures are used A staffing system for a job in which
no measures are used would be virtually impossible. Measurement is the key in
staffing organizations, as it is a method used for assessing aspects within the
organization. A system without methods would have no efficient method for
determining a framework in the process of selection. 2.Describe how you might go
about determining scores for applicants responses to (a) interview questions, (b)
letters of recommendation, and (c) questions about previous work experience. To
determine scores for qualitative responses such as interview questions, letters of
recommendations and previous work experience questions, a scale would have to
be created. To determine these scores, the answers would have to be looked at
subjectively by the reviewer and given a number on a rating scale. Once the
answers are given a numerical value, the total score can be compared to other
applicants scores to determine who may be more valuable to the company. 3.Give
examples of when you would want the following for a written job knowledge test:
(a) a low coefficient alpha (e.g., a=.35) and (b) a low test retest reliability. A low
coefficient alpha represents a low reliability measure, showing that there is a
decreased correlation between items on the test measure. A company would want a
low coefficient alpha level if they were trying to prove
Painting The Exterior And Interior Of The House
Like Claude Monet, colours may or may not be your daylong obsession, but as
someone receptive to the subtle tonal changes you are bound to feel the absence of
the same in your surrounding most acutely. For that simple reason, you cannot simply
imagine living in a home devoid of colours.
Painting the exterior and interior of the house
To transform your house into an elegant and comfortable home, you need the
assistance of many qualified personnel including professional painters. Professional
painters in %{city} play a significant role in improving the quality and liveability of
the newly built structure you are about to call home.
The necessity of painting the exterior of the house as well as the interior ones is
driven by aesthetic considerations. But that is not the only reason behind opting for
professional wall painting. There are several other benefits that we hardly take a note
of. High quality exterior paint increases the life of the masonry work. Your house
becomes better equipped to withstand the elements of nature.
Right colour scheme augments the curb appeal of your house. Colours have
considerable social and cultural impact too. Vibrantly colourful houses typical to St
John s in Newfoundland and Labrador or Lunenburg in Nova Scotia are not so
common in other parts of the country. By their colourful nature you can identify these
cities instantly. It would be difficult to imagine a lacklustre building in middle of St
John s and Lunenberg.

Pennsylvania State Championship Narrative
3rd person objective
The Pennsylvania State Championship
It was the Pennsylvania State Championship. Almost everyone in the state was at
the game it seemed like. The Panthers were playing the Lions. The ball game was
tied. The Panthers took a timeout with 10 seconds to set up a play. The Lions were
also thinking of what to do on defense.
The ref blew his whistle which meant the timeout was over. Grant Anderson walked
onto the court. He looked up at his family and just took in the whole scene. The
crowd was crazy. The Panthers plan was to give Grant the ball and let him take the
shot. However, the Lions had a lock down defender, Michael Farling. The Lions plan
was to let Michael guard him, even though Michael was one of the tallest on the court

There was only about 10 seconds left in the game. The score of the game was tied. I
am on the Panthers and we re playing the Lions. During the timeout, my coach was
telling the team to give me the ball. Meanwhile, the Lions were thinking about what
to do on defense.
The ref just blew his whistle which meant the timeout was over. As I slowly walked
on the court, I looked up in the stands to my family and I took in the scene. I
noticed the crowd was going crazy. When I got to where I was going on the court, I
noticed the Lions star player, Michael Farling, guarding me. I thought that plan was
very odd; Michael is one of the tallest players and I m one of the smallest. The coach
of the Lions was screaming to tell Michael to contest the shot, but not to foul.
As of planned, my team in bounded the scream. I caught the ball, stood there, and
held the ball to my hip. I called for a screen from one of my teammates. I used the
screen soon after he set in. All I heard was my coach telling me to shoot. I pulled up
way beyond the three point line and I swished it. I won the Pennsylvania State
Championship.

An Analysis of Dr. Susan Calvin in I, Robot , by Isaac...
A hero is defined as a person noted for special achievements in a field. Dr. Susan
Calvin, the main character of the novel I, Robot, is made the hero because of her
special achievements in the field of robotics. Dr. Calvin is a robopsychologist who
uses many different methods of problems solving to solve the problems that other
scientists and mathematicians were incapable of doing. Through these many
adventures in the field of robotics, Dr. Susan Calvindisplays her many character traits
to the reader. Dr. Calvin has an excellent combination of many different attributes. In
I, Robot, by Isaac Asimov, Dr. Susan Calvin, the main character, reveals much about
herself to the reader, and makes the book what it is.

Calvin becomes embarrassed about her love when talking to Herbie. She figures
that since Herbie can read minds, he must know that she loves Milton Ashe, and
starts to feel embarrassed about it. When Herbie answers her that he does know
about it, Dr. Calvin starts to redden, which shows that she has feelings for another
person, because the normal individual does show that he or she is embarrassed when
somebody knows that he or she is in love.
Dr. Calvin does not show an interest in anything other than robotics, in her entire
life. Her interest for robotics started when she was a teenager. Dr. Calvin, ...appears

shows that she obviously had an interest in robotics from a young age and
continuing into her adult years (Beacham 2063). She would sit and study robots for

Power In Isabel Allende s The House Of Spirits
I know for sure what we dwell on is what we become, Oprah Winfrey. This can be
interpreted in many different ways but when we hang around certain people, others
start to notice that we start to act like them, and talk like them. Although this may be
true for some things when someone is over the top one way, sometimes it is going
to make us not want to be like them. This is similar to a character in Isabel Allendes
book, The House of Spirits. Isabel Allende was born August 2, 1942 in Lima, Peru.
Isabel s father was a Chilean diplomat and was stationed in Peru the time Isabel s
mother, Francisca Llona, gave birth to her. When Isabel was young her family moves
to Santiago where she lived with her mother and grandfather. Isabel moves several...

When someone is criticized for their actions as much as Esteban Trueba it means
something is wrong with it or the author does not agree with the character and they
are there to help us understand that we shouldn t like the character either. In this
case he was criticized after he inherited the money and power and the actions he
took afterwards. All in all, Isabel Allende the writer of The House of Spirits is
trying to tell us that not everyone is meant to have a positive impact on our lives,
but rather be there as a key influence in shaping us in the way we are supposed to
be. This can be either becoming friends with this person and after time you realize
that they are not a good fit for your friend group, but you learn something from it.
The other purpose of this type of person is to show you the characteristics of a
person you do not want to be. These could be anywhere from this person is too
prideful to you don t like the constant negativity that this person carries with them so
you try to carry yourself and be known as more of a positive
Porter Robinson And Madeon Concert Report
On November 16th, I attended a Porter Robinson and Madeon concert at Echostage
in Washington D.C. Porter Robinson and Madeon are both electro house, dubstep,
synthpop, and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) music DJ s, who have decided to
collaborate and tour together. Doors opened for the concert at 9 PM, with DJ s
Robotaki (Ro bo ta key) and Danger opening for them. Robotaki focused more on
house music, while Danger was more heavy drum and bass electronic music.
Although, the opening DJ s varied in their style of music, they helped to set the mood
and prepare the crowd for the main event.
The concert began with Porter Robinson and Madeon performing live their hit song,
Shelter. Together they played the drums, remixed the set, and worked together...

A common theme throughout the show was the use of the Wall of Sound, where
many different instruments and beats were being played simultaneously. This made
the entire room fill with sound, making it almost impossible to distinguish between
the multiple layers of beats hitting you. Although, this may have been true for
much of the concert, the DJ s also incorporated the concepts of minimalism into
their work, by using very few instruments: drums, piano, a synthesizer, and
turntables. The tempo of the songs varied greatly throughout their performance,
with some songs being slowed down to incorporate new, unique sounds, and others
being sped up to introduce the next track. The canons of the songs vary greatly,
with some sets of songs sounding very similar to each other, then it will become
quiet, and then the canon will change again as the concert progresses into its next
stages. Repetition also plays a major role in Porter Robinson and Madeon s music,
creating a steady beat that s easy to move to, with the rest of the song never
deviating greatly from the original beat. A great example of this is Porter Robinsons
song, Divinity, where the initial beat sets the theme for the rest of the song. In every
song the musical elements build upon each other. For example, in their song, Shelter,
it starts with a beat and an electronic voice speaking. As the song progresses these
elements still exist, but other beats and sounds are
Jan Steen’s Self Portrait in “The Continence of
Scipio”...
Jan Steen s Self Portrait in The Continence of Scipio as a Social Commentary
There is a tremendous difference between a fool and a jester. Fools are regarded as
light hearted, dim witted, and absent minded people whose outrageous stupidity
amused the rest of the population. These jovial folk represented the lowest in
society: too carefree to get ahead in society and too stupid to care. Many people
believed that Jan Steen, a prominent and well educated artist of the Dutch Golden
Age, was a fool. It is not a far fetched assumption to make since he donned the
appearance of a fool in his own paintings. However Steen was no fool. Much like the
history of jesters, Jan Steen s unsavory appearances in his own work is often

He also suffered some money problems during this time and had out several loans
(Chapman, 1996). Many people have concluded that Steen s money problems
stemmed from his dissolute lifestyle. However, during that time the second Anglo
Dutch war had broken out causing a severe drop in the art market (Chapman,
1996). The post reformation society seemingly obsessed with purity, justice, and
goodness seemed to suffer a blow to its heavenly façade when corruption among
some of the most prominent leaders of society was exposed. In 1673 William III
and the Deventer fathers were found to be corrupt and traitorous to the Dutch
Republic (Kunzle, 2000). These men were meant to be the epitome of what it meant
to be Dutch. They were meant to be symbols of temperance, virtue, and justice and
were often related to Scipio Africanus, a Roman general (Kunzle, 2000). Scipio was a
popular subject matter in art, especially in 17th century Holland. During this time the
middle class became the major patrons of art. The Netherlands had just declared their
independence from Spain and wanted paintings reflecting their new Dutch identity
(Shaw Eagle, 1996). Many artists gained fame by doing genre paintings such as
scenes from everyday life. The years earlier had shown the public s desire for genre
and history painting (Meagher, 2000). Some, took old stories of
The City Of Future Summary
Davis in his book describes that, years back Los Angeles was a heaven of public
places but with the present scenario it not the same and is slowly that culture is
diminishing in the name of urban renaissance. He quotes that democratic public
spaces like parks, free beaches, cruising strips do not exist anymore in the name of
development. The intended purpose of this is to secure the city. In order to protect the
poor and provide shelter to the homeless the public parks and streets were
transformed to households. This urban renaissance is also called The City of Future
by the author who also affords to provide living for millions of aspiring immigrants.
The massive development of Los Angeles has created a diversity between various
classes of people. The architectural renovation was one of the primary steps taken
by the city in order to reduce the public spaces such as parks, grounds, empty lands
which has driven the poor out of the city. The people with no homes are only
confined to small areas by police force. I think it is not only Los Angeles as a
particular city that created such a situation to the poor but also other metropolitan
cities where life has become helpless and Davis sees this issue as a concealed myth
which redefines the real history of Los Angeles warfare. ... Show more content on

In order to create less exposure of downtown professionals to the streets,
redevelopments of places were done which ensure the gap between different classes.
To establish the separation, new parking structures are built with high security

Gentrification is especially seen in two major hubs such as the Reagan Building and
Grand Central Square which demands additional security all round the clock which

Plan De Tuxtepec History
The Americans and Mexicans have a long history together. This history has been
more contentious than not and has been subject to the wills and whims of the elites
of their respective countries. The United States has enjoyed a position of power over
the Mexicans. The economic powerhouse of the burgeoning United Statesexpanded
more rapidly in the 19th century than any other country, fueled by a self righteous
idea of manifest destiny and a healthy dose of racist social evolutionist ideology.

companies turned their eyes south to the natural resource rich Mexico. This is a story

into numerous runs on banks, and an erosion in the faith of the financial institution

from the already emaciated amounts that they were already getting. Mexican
businesses, who had already driven down the prices of their goods with over
production suddenly found themselves with an even worse position as their domestic

Fight Or Flight Response Theory
Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is
dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. There is a very great variety as to the
degree of fear and trouble that persons are exercised with before they obtain any
comfortable evidence of pardon and acceptance with God. Fearis something that can
result into a persons reaction or inaction. An example of this is Fight or flight this
was first described in the 1920s by American physiologist Walter Cannon. The fight
or flight response, or the acute stress response, refers to a physiological reaction
that occurs in the presence of something that is terrifying, either mentally or
physically. The response is triggered by the release of hormones that prepare your
body to either stay and deal with a threat or to run away to safety. The fight or flight
response realized that a chain of rapidly occurring reactions inside the body helped
to mobilize the body s resources to deal with threatening circumstances.Today the
fight or flight response is recognized as part of the first stage of Hans Selye s
general adaptation syndrome, a theory describing the stress response.
Though fear is a negative emotion the concept of the use of fear can be both
negative and positive in its relationship to society. Fear is usually a ... Show more

A few seconds of elevated heart rate is common before feeling a sense of pride,
infatuation, love and maternal love. From an evolutionary perspective, the emotion
of fear protected humans from predators and other threats to the survival of the

protect you and is therefore adaptive, functional, and necessary. However, there is
another important aspect of emotions to consider that, in the case of fear, may be
important to decision making as well as
The Influence Of The Media On Media And Media
1.Why is it so difficult to define the state of childhood? (w.180)
The state of childhood is difficult to define due to the conflicting views that are held
within society. As outlined in Creativity, Culture and Commerce (2015) children are
considered a special audience in relation to television and media consumption. This
categorisation of this audience allows childhood to be defined as a developmental
stage in which youthful participants are considered both vulnerable and corruptible .
These distinctive underlying connotations lead to an assumption that children must
be protected, within media exposure and content (Potter, 2015: 3). In relation to these
media definitions society reflects these culturally and socially by linking the well
being of the children with protection. As stated by the Australian Communications
and Media Authority the age bracket of a child is any individual being aged under 14
years, (Potter, 2015: 7). This definition provides insight into the factors such as the
schooling age that govern programming within Australia s media industry. Due to
these diverse definitions childhood is a complex term that reflects aspects of society
through media and television consumption in which children are protected from
different forms of content.
2.What kind of role does the media play in children s lives? (w.191)
As children are considered dependent and vulnerable within society the media is
responsible for the nature of content to which the child
The Importance Of Freedom Of Speech In The United States
Even though the United States has the first amendment, the right of freedom of
speech, there is a limit to that right in which the Government then can step in. The
Government has to have a motive to need to step in and block or not share certain
information. One extent is if the information contains context that puts the Nation s
National Security in jeopardy. The Government has not been telling us more about
the war that we have been in, and has also given us false information to keep us
thinking that we know what is happening in places like Iraq. Ever since 1991 there
has been a ban on not allowing photos being taken of fallen soldiers in their caskets,
but the ban was removed in 2009. The ban was put into play by George W. Bush in
1991,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are sending our soldiers to places that we didn t even know existed and also has
have heard no news about having trouble with these nations. The country has been
deploying soldiers in nations that we did not know that we have issues with. The
Government is having these secret wars with this nations and are not telling the
people who are paying for these wars with their tax money, which totaled three
billion dollars. In one case the Government has a single base, a place where soldiers
are placed, in a nation called Djibouti in East Africa. The post is a key hub for its
secret war...in Africa and the Middle East (Turse). Having these secret wars with
these other nations are starting to make citizens question what other information is
the Government hiding from us about war. The United States has Special Operation
Forces in 147 of the world s 195 recognized nations (Rosenberg). The reason for
placing all these Special Operation people around the world is that these missions
are type of training missions, designed to tutor proxies and forge stronger ties with
allies (Turse). They say these nations are used to carry out practice for special
operations and practice joint operations with other countries. In a sense they are
using these places to practice by themselves and to also practice and form allies with
other militaries. These Special Operations being deployed in all these nations without
us knowing might mean that the Government might be at war with nations we don t
know about. They can also be used for training and practicing with other military
allies. We don t know what to think just as long as our men and country are
Factors Affecting The Metabolism Before Information...
In addition, this theory focuses on building the metabolism before information
bearing compounds like RNA, while other theories focus on creating an RNA world
first. However, the idea that hydrothermal vents were the hatchery of life can be
compatible for both theories. Similar to how the micro compartments in the vents
could have concentration chemicals needed for metabolism to arise, the micro
compartments could have also concentrated products needed for organic synthesis of
primitive genetic material (Joyce G.F. 2002). Some RNA world theories were
criticized because the chemicals in the ocean would be in too low of a concentration
to react readily. Therefore, using hydrothermal vents as a concentrating mechanisms
would provide concentrations needed to help endergonic reactions proceed (Martin et
al. 2008).
To further our understanding of how life could have arisen and the constraints for
life, we need to look beyond our planet. A logical choice would be to look at icy
worlds that have a similar oceanic climate to the Hadean Ocean. Recent data
obtained by the Cassini spacecraft point to Enceladus as a possible location to
answer these questions. In 2005, the Cassini spacecraft discovered plumes of water
vapor, salts and ice ejected from Saturn s moon Enceladus. This plume was sodium
salt rich and the liquid water showed evidence of having been in contact with rock
surfaces (Postburg et al. 2009,2011). In addition to water vapor, salts, and ice, dust
particles were also

  • 2. Beowulf Story The main protagonist, Beowulf, a hero of the Geats, comes to the aid of Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, whose great hall, Heorot, is plagued by the monster Grendel. Beowulf kills Grendel with his bare hands and Grendel s mother with a sword, which giants once used, that Beowulf found in Grendel s mother s lair. Later in his life, Beowulf is himself king of the Geats, and finds his realm terrorised by a dragon whose treasure had been stolen from his hoard in a burial mound. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beowulf descends to do battle with the dragon but finds himself outmatched. His men, upon seeing this display and fearing for their lives, creep back into the woods. One of his men, however, Wiglaf, who finds great distress in seeing Beowulf s plight, comes to Beowulf s aid. The two slay the dragon, but Beowulf is mortally wounded. Beowulf is buried in Geatland on a cliff overlooking the sea, where sailors are able to see his tumulus. The dragon s treasure is buried with him, in accordance with Beowulf s wishes, rather than distributed to his people, and there is a curse associated with the hoard to ensure that Beowulf s wish is kept. It is widely accepted that there are three funerals in Beowulf. The funerals are also paired with the three battles described above.[8] The three funerals share similarities regarding the offerings for the dead and the change in theme through the description of each funeral. Gale Owen Crocker (Professor of Anglo Saxon, University of Manchester) in The Four Funerals in Beowulf (2000) argues that a passage in the poem, commonly known as The Lay of the Last Survivor (lines 2247 66), is an additional funeral.[8] The funerals are themselves involved in the ritual of hoarding: the deposition of sacrificial objects with both religious and socio economic functions.[9] First Funeral: Scyld Scefing (lines 1 52) The first funeral in the poem is of Scyld Scefing (translated in some versions as

Its main aim was to negate the influence of outlaw bike gangs as the face of the Harley Davidson brand and enhance the lifestyle experience of a Harley Davidson owner. The registration limit for this ride was increased to 400 to accommodate the increasing interest in the Posse Ride, while at the same time preserving the exclusivity of the ride. Though many members did not approve of the route for the 2nd ride, they were actively interested in coming for it because it was the ride and not the route which mattered for them. This very aptly epitomises the entire concept of the Posse Ride. The Posse rides thus went a long way in addressing the issues of customer loyalty faced by the firm. Analysis of the Posse Riders The riders of the Posse ride are an integral part of the whole concept and their attitudes and perception regarding the ride is what builds the brand community for Harley. This ride has been intended as a learning process for the riders as they are passionate about their Harleys and riding them. The ride will cement not only their initial perception about the brand but will also build new linkages. We look at the Fishbein multi attribute model which helps us to figure out the score a customer attributes to the various dimensions to the brand. As the riders take part in the Posse experience, they already have built in ratings for the various attributes that contribute to the overall Harley Brand equity. The ride is a crucial exercise to change the

Although the construct, disposition, in teacher education may be redundant now, it is not entirely inadequate as it may provide a pilot hypothesis for further investigations (Murray, 2007; Windschitl, 2003). The implications from the previous studies provide the groundwork for exploring teacher dispositions. In order to effectively investigate this, a definition for dispositions by our governing bodies must be identified. NCATE now defines Professional Dispositions as: Professional attitudes, values, and beliefs demonstrated through both verbal and non verbal behaviors as educators interact with students, families, colleagues, and communities. These positive behaviors support student learning and development (2007). Institutions take their own stab at defining dispositions in many ways. The National Association for the Education of Young Children states in order to enact and examine surface disposition: All teaching staff evaluates and improve their own performance based on ongoing reflection and feedback from supervisors, peers and families. • 8. India s First Genetic Breeding Program Using The Germ... Keggfarms was established by Vinod Kapur in the year 1967. It is one of India s oldest poultry centric organisations, set up with the intent to make essential contributions to the development of poultry in India. This was made possible by pioneering India s first Genetic Breeding Program using the germ plasm (pure breeding stock). Keggfarms was among the first companies, in the developing world to come up with this with demonstrable results. As a result of Keggfarms intervention, India could stand as the only country outside the developed world, which is self sufficient and self reliant in high yielding poultryand is able to compete favourably with the very best in the world. Therefore, this industry has developed on the basis of a concept that was pioneered and validated by Keggfarms. Vinod Kapur says that he started dreaming about establishing a poultry breeding farm after a deeply thoughtful, but casual conversation with his father in 1963. The facts that poultry breeding was a pristine and untested genre in India and related to social concerns were major motivational factors for him. He quit his position at Western Indian Match Company (WIMCO) to create India s first genetic poultry breeding farm that he had purchased from Parks Poultry Farm in the United States. Keggfarms successful experience at genetically breeding poultry in India eventually led the still protectionist Indian government to mandate that all poultry breeding stocks be bred in India. You don t need to meet your clients face to face. Everything can be done by mail, fax, or email. The occasional trip to the records department in your local courthouse is your only venture outdoors. You do not need any type of license to do this type of work. What exactly is JUDICIAL JUDGMENT RECOVERY? First let s call it JJR for short. Then let s break it down one word at a time. 2 A) JUDICIAL means (in this case) a legal court of law . B) JUDGMENT means the determination of the court , a legal obligation as determined by the judge. C) RECOVERY means the act of becoming lost). If you know what a court order is then you already have a good idea. A court order is pretty much a judicial judgment in that they both mean, in essence, As Ordered By The Court . So what does it mean to us? It means that when one person (the plaintiff), sues another person (the defendant), in small claims court, and wins, it s because the court ordered the defendant, now known as the judgment debtor, to pay the plaintiff, usually, a said dollar amount. So now the plaintiff is awarded a piece of paper proclaiming them a judgment winner. But are they really the winner? The easy part was winning the case. Now comes the difficult part, and that is getting the judgment debtor to actually pay up. You see, the court cannot collect the money for the judgment winners. It is actually up to the judgment winners to collect their own judgments. But with no pressure to

Comparing Bartleby, The Scrivener And The Overcoat In both Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Nikolai Gogol s The Overcoat, the reader is given insight about the different workings society has on two copyists. Both, Akaky and Bartleby make a living off copying papers, and can be considered as the heros of their stories. Though, both of their mannerisms are out of place and foolish in their given society; the authors display different settings, character arcs, and motivations to showcase the slow burn psychological and physical effects society has on the protagonist. Gogol depicts Akaky as an outlier among his peers, and deemed to be the only clerk who served his job with love (313). When the Russian s worst enemy, winter, arrives; his overcoat is too old and broken down to protect him from the cold weather. His current overcoat is ridiculed and mockingly called a peignoir by his fellow clerks (Gogol 315). The arc shifts when his tailor, Petrovich, makes him a new overcoat from cheap material that resembles the ones worn by the rich (Gogol 320). The coat heightens how Akaky viewed himself, and how his peers view him. However, he is robbed of his coat on the way home from his Chief Assistant Clerk s party (Gogol 323). In the latter part of his character arc, he valued the search of his overcoat more than his livelihood. He decides to search for the overcoat with the help of higher officials. After failed attempts with different people, he tries his luck with the Very Important Person who put the nail to the coffin in Akaky s life but not his arc(Gogol 324) . Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born July 18, 1918 near Umtata in Transkei, in the Eastern Cape, into the royal family of the Tembu, a Xhosa speaking tribe. He was educated at a British missionary boarding school and at Fort Hare University, from which he was expelled in 1940 for leading a strike with Oliver Tambo. He was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of sabotage and attempting to overthrow the government. While he was in prison, police raided an ANC safe house in Rivonia, a suburb of Johannesburg, as a result of which Mandela and a number of comrades were tried for treason. After first being acquitted in 1963, they were retried in the celebrated Rivonia trial, and in 1964 Mandela and seven comrades were convicted of sabotage and treason and sentenced to life in prison. Mandela spent the next 27 years in prison, living until 1982 amid the harsh conditions of the maximum security prison on Robben Island. After several years of secret talks that had begun in 1986 with government ministers, Mandela met with Preisident P.W. Botha in July 1989 and with his successor, President F. W. de Klerk, in December of that year. As a result of those talks, he was freed on February 11, 1990. Following his release, Mandela was appointed deputy president of the ANC. He launched a world tour in June 1990 to persuade Western leaders to maintain economic sanctions against South Africa and to raise funds to help the ANC function as an above ground political party. Negotiations with the ruling National Party led to the ANC s August 1990 decision to suspend its armed struggle after nearly 30

Before the wedding, the groom will visit the house of the bride to bring her to the place where the wedding will be held. All of the many people involved in the wedding then proceed in their cars to the wedding. Typically, they will drive leisurely and will honk at pedestrians to cheer for the couple. Once the procession reaches the place of the wedding, which will usually be an Orthodox church, the priest will lead the people into the main auditorium for the ceremony. The ceremony itself, which is comprised of the priest blessing the couple, reading from the Bible, and singing, could take up to three hours. After the ceremony, the couple drinks from the same glass of wine and eat the same piece of bread to symbolize unity. After the couple is unified, they proceed to visit the numerous pictures of Jesus and the saints and kiss them. Hurricane hunters are the people who find and detect storms that can cause potential harm and damage. The dropsonde hurricane detector is an instrument they use to calculate the intensity, humidity, air pressure, and other factors essential to predict the outcome of the storm. Hurricane hunters drop this instrument into the ocean, and immediately, information comes pouring in. According to Harriet Jane Caldwell, The devices fall to the ocean and transmit bursts of data to the airplane twice every second. Caldwell also says, The data includes temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, as well as the speed and direction of winds. There are many of reasons why it is difficult for the police to have interaction with the citizens of the community. One reason the community do not trust the police is because of racial profiling. Racial profiling has been going on for years and now the community is getting tired of it. An example of racial profiling is a group of black teenagers being pulled over because of the kind of car they are driving. Herbert Hoover s The Great Depression Herbert Hoover got many things wrong about the great economic calamity that destroyed his presidency and his historical reputation, but he got one thing right. Much legend to the contrary, the Great Depression was not entirely, perhaps not even principally, made in America. The primary cause of the Great Depression, was the war of 1914 1918. Though economists and historians continue to this day to debate the proximate causes of the Great Depression, there can be little doubt that the deepest roots of the crisis lay in the several chronic infirmities that afflicted the post World War I international economic order and touched every country on the planet. The fighting had taken a cruel toll on key economies like those of Britain, France, and Germany, the core societies of the advanced industrialized world. The lingering distortions in trade, capital flows, and exchange rates occasioned by the heedlessly punitive Treaty of Versailles, as the economist John Maynard Keynes observed at the time, managed to perpetuate in peacetime the economic disruptions that had brought so much hardship in wartime. What was more, memories of the war s bitter fighting and vengeful conclusion rendered the post war international atmosphere toxic, poisoning the wells of traditional diplomacy and dooming any efforts at concerted multi lateral action to deal with the gathering crisis. To those abundant physical and institutional ills might be added the psychological maladies of

While many older people have heard of the song sound of silence by Simon and Garfunkel most of the younger generation have only heard of the song by Disturbed with many people believing that disturbed wrote the song in the first place. Most people have never heard of Touch of Glass let alone that they sung this cover. The most major difference I have found between all 3 songs is the mood that artist gives off. With Simon and Garfunkel giving off more of a upbeat and funky mood that makes the song seem to have good feelings attached to it. Then Disturbed gives off more of a dark and foreboding mood that leaves the listener feeling lonely. Then Touch of Glass in my opinion gives off a more country and western mood that shows hardship in life. Simon and Garfunkel is trying to show silence and darkness as more of a friend that you are glad to see and to show that silence is not a bad thing with their tone. Disturbed on the other hand is trying to show the sound of silence and darkness as more of a old friend you would rather not meet until the very end. Very similar with Disturbed s song the Touch of Glass they seem to try to tell you of the hardship of silence and

Current concerns are instead directed towards the possibility that long term exposure to weak fields might have detrimental health effects due to some, to date unknown, biological mechanism. Due to the widespread use of these techniques and the very prevalent exposure to some of the types of field involved, even a weak association with disease risk could have strong impacts on public health. • 37. The Uglie Critical Analysis According to Merriam Webster dictionary, the word realization is defined as, an act of becoming fully aware of something as a fact. Being able to realize the ultimate desires and goals in life is apart of each of the texts. In the book The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, the story shows characters realizing objectives through point of view when Tally Youngblood is faced with the truth about getting an operation to become pretty. Likewise, in The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri, the message of realization is developed through symbolism of the narrator s experience in a new world. The theme as shown in The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff Marano is expressed through conflict. The use of point of view, symbolism and conflict create the theme, a person must become self aware to realize their goals, in the texts The Ugliesby Scott Westerfeld, The Third and Final Continent by Jhumpa Lahiri, and The Art of Resilience by Hara Estroff Marano. In The Uglies, the lesson of becoming self aware is communicated through the main character, Tally Youngblood s, point of view. At first, Tally Youngblood longs to receive an operation to turn herself pretty after being viewed as ugly most of her life. After she was denied the surgery because of complications with a friend, she started becoming sensitive about the label given to her. The author wrote, She d been an ugly for four years, but a few extra days had brought home to her exactly what the word really meant
  • 38. The Spiritual Lessons From Joshua Introduction Spiritual Lessons From Joshua Joshua was deeply devoted to God, the God of Israel, and a loyal servant of Moses. He took charge of Israel after the death of Moses, and he gave instructions to carry the Arc of the Covenant across the Jordan River, which parted as did the Red Sea. He lead Israel around the city of Jericho and the walls came tumbling down and he lead Israel s conquest of the promise land. There has been no day like the day that God heeded Joshua s command for the sun to stand still for one whole day. In light of all this it is interesting, even somewhat puzzling, that Joshua is not even named by the apostle Paul as one of the great heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. There are two hundred and one Bible references to Joshua, which leaves us with many valuable lessons; there are very few more dramatic examples of faith in the entire Bible. So why did the apostle Paul leave Joshua s name out of the list of the faithful in Hebrews 11? Could it have been because the long list of Joshua s accomplishments over shadowed the man himself? Or the things that God did through him were so great that the events actually eclipsed Joshua deeds? There are plenty of spiritual lessons to be found in the book of Joshua. I just wish to highlight a few here are seven of them. First, good leaders must first be good servants. Second, impossible situations provide glorious opportunities to trust God. Third, the key to strength and courage is God s abiding presence. Fourth,
  • 39. Blink By Malcolm Gladwell Blink Overview In Malcolm Gladwell s novel Blink, the author conveys a message on the significance and power of our snap judgements and split second decisions. He explains the influential strength of our subconscious that controls our intuitions and perceptions that translates into our daily actions. These daily actions occur via thorough thinking or through a simple technique Gladwell calls, thin slicing . Specifically, this technique showcases how an individual can extract in depth details about a situation, only given a snapshot of a given scenario. Gladwell explains, If he [researcher John Gottman] analyzes an hour of a husband and wife talking, he can predict with 95 percent accuracy whether that couple will still be married fifteen years later. If we watched a couple for fifteen minutes, his success rate is around 90 percent. From this, Gladwell expands to educate his readers on how to exploit these instincts in order to live our lives more efficiently. Or, in his words, to think without thinking . However, Gladwell does outline the dangers of thin slicing when done inaccurately exemplified by fatal police shootings conducted by officers who ve misjudged a situation such as Amanda Diallo s case. Additionally, thin slicing can backlash when individuals are racist or prejudice. Overall, Gladwell provides his readers with a wholesome perspective on thin slicing before stating his opinion on the benefits and successes of utilizing our natural human intuitions to live more

In both, Alex is the narrator and uses Nadsat vocabulary to describe his acts of violence, however, the film narrative is perceived as less powerful as the novella. In the book, Alex s narration accentuates his cruelty, pleasure, and lack of remorse. His pleasure is highlighted in the book displaying his dark thoughts, making the novella A Clockwork Orangeappear to be a more grotesque piece in language than the film. This is evident in an act of violence, the raping of two ten year old girls. In the film, Alexhas what appears to be consensual sex with two women around or a few youngers than himself, that the met in a record store. In the novel, he meets two ten year old girls instead and purchases them some food in addition. He then convinces them to come with him where they become intoxicated and he rapes them. Alex in the novella narrates the aftermath, They looked like they had been in some big bitva, as indeed they had, and were all bruised and pouty. Well, if they would not go to school they would still have their education. And education they had had. They were creeching and going ow ow ow as they put their platties on, and they were like punchipunching me with their teeny fists as I lay there dirty and nagoy and fair shagged and fagged on the bed. The Weimar Government And The Causes Of The Weimar Republic While war reparations rocked the Weimar Republic, debt wracked the farmers in the French Republic, leading to dissent and disillusionment amongst the citizens. In this period of instability, the inability of the republics to propose legislation without dissent opened way for new leaders taking advantage of the situation, promising a more unified and better society. With the fall of major monarchies, both France and Germany strived to create representative governments that listened to the needs of the people. However, that did not work out as intended, with the government focusing more on the upper class rather than the peasants that made up the majority of the fledgling republic s population. For example, the Constitution of 1793, advocated by Maximilien Robespierre, granted universal suffrage for men. Even with the increased rights for the people, the government did not ratify legislation that appealed to the majority of the population, the peasants. Instead, legislation that abolished property requirements for farmers, de christianized society, and created a republic calendar did not appeal to the farmers swimming in debt with a lack of food on the table (Tocqueville). As a result, the new republic enabled the common people to voice out against them, rather than for them. After a few centuries, the Weimar Republicfaced a similar situation. With much of the country disillusioned after their loss in World War I , the citizens looked towards the new Weimar Republic for a

Measurement is the key in staffing organizations, as it is a method used for assessing aspects within the organization. A system without methods would have no efficient method for determining a framework in the process of selection. 2.Describe how you might go about determining scores for applicants responses to (a) interview questions, (b) letters of recommendation, and (c) questions about previous work experience. To determine scores for qualitative responses such as interview questions, letters of recommendations and previous work experience questions, a scale would have to be created. To determine these scores, the answers would have to be looked at subjectively by the reviewer and given a number on a rating scale. Once the answers are given a numerical value, the total score can be compared to other applicants scores to determine who may be more valuable to the company. 3.Give examples of when you would want the following for a written job knowledge test: (a) a low coefficient alpha (e.g., a=.35) and (b) a low test retest reliability. Painting the exterior and interior of the house To transform your house into an elegant and comfortable home, you need the assistance of many qualified personnel including professional painters. Professional painters in %{city} play a significant role in improving the quality and liveability of the newly built structure you are about to call home. • 54. The Influence Of The Media On Media And Media 1.Why is it so difficult to define the state of childhood? (w.180) The state of childhood is difficult to define due to the conflicting views that are held within society. As outlined in Creativity, Culture and Commerce (2015) children are considered a special audience in relation to television and media consumption. This categorisation of this audience allows childhood to be defined as a developmental stage in which youthful participants are considered both vulnerable and corruptible . These distinctive underlying connotations lead to an assumption that children must be protected, within media exposure and content (Potter, 2015: 3). In relation to these media definitions society reflects these culturally and socially by linking the well being of the children with protection. As stated by the Australian Communications and Media Authority the age bracket of a child is any individual being aged under 14 years, (Potter, 2015: 7). This definition provides insight into the factors such as the schooling age that govern programming within Australia s media industry. Due to these diverse definitions childhood is a complex term that reflects aspects of society through media and television consumption in which children are protected from different forms of content. 2.What kind of role does the media play in children s lives? Similar to how the micro compartments in the vents could have concentration chemicals needed for metabolism to arise, the micro compartments could have also concentrated products needed for organic synthesis of primitive genetic material (Joyce G.F. 2002). Some RNA world theories were criticized because the chemicals in the ocean would be in too low of a concentration to react readily. Therefore, using hydrothermal vents as a concentrating mechanisms would provide concentrations needed to help endergonic reactions proceed (Martin et al. 2008). To further our understanding of how life could have arisen and the constraints for life, we need to look beyond our planet. A logical choice would be to look at icy worlds that have a similar oceanic climate to the Hadean Ocean. Recent data obtained by the Cassini spacecraft point to Enceladus as a possible location to answer these questions. In 2005, the Cassini spacecraft discovered plumes of water vapor, salts and ice ejected from Saturn s moon Enceladus. This plume was sodium salt rich and the liquid water showed evidence of having been in contact with rock surfaces (Postburg et al. 2009,2011). In addition to water vapor, salts, and ice, dust particles were also
