Women s Role And Image Of Women
Within industrialized nations, the role and image of women has undergone profound changes over
the past few decades. Female participation in the workforce has increased steadily and societal
attitudes towards women engaging in paid work have undergone significant change (Schwartz,
1988). These historical shifts have made the equality of women and men in society and the
workforce an attainable goal. The participation of women in paid labour has challenged traditional
gender roles and the societal ideal of the nuclear family with a sole male breadwinner. However, the
primary responsibility of childcare continues to fall upon women.
There are biological and social realities that must be taken into consideration when creating

Virtually all countries worldwide have implemented legislation that offers maternity protection,
however the level of support provided for new parents varies internationally (Addati et al., 2014).
The United States and Canada are two countries with close cultural ties; however, the history of
family policy and implementation of parental leave differs significantly between these nations. This
paper will provide an analysis of the parental leave guidelines in Canada and the United States; the
historical, ideological, political, and economic factors that have influenced policy decision
making; the impacts of paid maternity leave on employment and maternal and infant health;
future implications of parental leave policy; and desirable policy development for both of these
nations. The parental leave policies of Canada and the United States make for a rich policy
comparison. There are several key differences between the policy approaches of these countries.
These policy differences are the result of a variety of factors that can by compared and contrasted
to develop an understanding of how these policies came into fruition. In addition to the distinct
differences in the policy routes taken within these countries in regards to parental leave, there are a
number of less prominent similarities that can be examined as well. An important aspect of any
comparative social policy research is

Knowledge In The Alchemist
The Alchemist takes after the adventure of an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago.
Trusting a repeating dream to be prophetic, he chooses to go to a Romani fortune teller in
an adjacent town to find its significance. The lady deciphers the fantasy as a prophecy
telling the boy that there is a fortune in the pyramids in Egypt. Early into his journey, he
meets an old King, whose name was Melchizedek, who instructs him to offer his sheep to
go to Egypt and presents the possibility of a Personal Legend. Your Personal Legend is
the thing that you have for the longest time been itching to fulfill. Everybody, when they

One reason is that
his books have no perceptible hint of brazilianness. The tall tale nature of his
stories, particularly The Alchemist, makes it clear that chronicled precision is not the
purpose of the story. For Coelho s situation the contentions against him are of an alternate sort. To
begin with,
there is the dissension that his Portuguese is, truth be told, not great. What is intriguing is
that the greater part of his linguistic stumbles are omitted in interpretation. In this way, one just sees
them in the event that one peruses Portuguese, something that exclusive a little part of his
readership does.
Truth be told, these wrongdoings against linguistic use do nothing to such an extent as give a gentle
casual quality
to the dialect, and don t diminish at all from the charm and conceivability of
the content. The protestation is more political than whatever else, since Brazilian Portuguese, a
dialect which still recognizes forcefully amongst composed and talked dialect, has too
been interested in the incorporation of conversational discourse in writing. The issue is political
since it is comprehended that these incorporations were finished by individuals from the intellectual

Bordone And Tintoretto Comparison
Painters other than Bordone have also painted the scene in which Christ is with the doctors.
Bordone is clearly influence by one of these paintings while painting his work. It is said that the
painting by Bordone is indebted to a similar depiction of the same subject by Tintoretto (Ilchman,
Christ Disputing in the Temple, in Eye of the Beholder). When we look at Tintoretto s version of
the painting, we can see clear similarities between both his and Bordone s. The immediate
similarities being the use of light, as well as how Bordone chooses to shift the painting to capture
the most interesting moments in the story, rather than show just one snippet of the action presented
in the written work. In Tintoretto s, we cannot see Mary or Joseph in sight, much like the Hofmann

Bordone would have most likely seen this painting before he painted his. This is due to the fact that
both him and Tintoretto are Venetian painters, and both were assistants to Titian, another very
famous Venetian artist (Ilchman). While the perspective offered in Tintoretto s painting is not
naturalistic, and the scale of the many figures is rather skewed, we can still see the influence he
had on Bordone. In Tintoretto s painting it shows the same dramatic scene that Bordone paints. The
figures are all in movement, looking at books, debating with either Christ, or themselves. Which is
essentially what Bordone s painting is demonstrating as well. Tintoretto also depicts Christ on a
throne surrounded by the doctors, which mirrors Bordone s. The only difference from Tintoretto s,
is that there are less people, and Christ is not in the exact center in Bordone s painting. Bordone
uses a more realistic approach to his painting than Tintoretto. Tintoretto chooses to make the figures

The Bible Vs The Bhagavad
The Bible Vs The Bhagavad
The Bible Vs The Bhagavad are the sacred books of Christians and Hindus respectively. There are
several similarities as well as differences found between these the bible text and the Bhagavad text.
The Bhagavad Gita is often called as the Bible of Hindus. The similarities between them can be
analyzed from the facts that Bhagavat Gita and the Bible has emphasized on the love for man. The
texts from both Holy books indicate the fact that God says that he loves those who love the
mankind. Further, both the books have cleared that only God guides people, which can be analyzed
from texts of both books. In Bhagavad Gita, It is mentioned that I am the way, supporter, lord,
witness, abode, refuge, friend (Davies), while in the Bible, He dwelleth in me and I in Him
(Venden).
Further, both the books have emphasized on the worship of God such as it is mentioned in
Bhagavad Gita that They who worship me with true devotion are in me and I in them (Davies),
while it is mentioned in Bible that I in them, thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one
(Venden). These texts clear the fact that both Bhagavad as well as Bible emphasized on the
worship of God. Further, both the books point out towards the fact those who worship God will
never be left alone, as it is mentioned in Bhagavad that Be assured that he who worships me,
perishes not (Davies), while the it is mentioned in Bible that He that believeth in me shall never
perish, but shall have eternal

Visual Culture Of Coca Cola And Mcdonalds
Visual culture is the use of images, media, and other visual modes to represent the events and
ideas of the world (Mirzoeff, 1999). The visual modes can range from an oil painting, to media
on the internet, advertisements or TV. Visual culture has an influence on the consumer who is
exposed to it. In this essay, I am looking specifically at how visual culture is used in
advertisements, and how large brands, such as Coca Cola and McDonalds, use visual culture
throughout their advertisements. Visual culture is often used to benefit a business. Such as
increasing brand recognition through the marketing of the brand via colour or imagery. It can
also be through catchy slogans or jingles that are created to leave an impression and therefore
influence the consumer to the extent that they are remembered for a significant period of time.
Therefore, it can be seen that Coca Cola and McDonalds both use different forms of visual
culture in order to improve company image and increase brand recognition. Coca Cola have often
used different forms of visual culture in their advertisements in order to portray their product and
company in certain ways, such as their manipulation of the Santa Clause character and image, and
their use of colours in their visuals. Coca Cola has taken the cultural image of Santa Clause and
made it a focal point in many of their advertisements. Before Coca Cola first featured Santa in their
advertisements in the early 1930 s, the character s image was very

Medical Malpractice Laws
When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That s my religion . Abraham Lincoln
once said this and he said this in the sense that everyone is vulnerable to doing wrong by
accident or on purpose. Doctor is considered as great people who are able to use their skills to
care for patients; nonetheless, they can deviate from the good and become bad as well. In
response to this malpractice, laws are there to protect patients from being harmed by the practice
of a doctor. Giving the advantage of suing the doctor for malpractice creates a functioning barrier
that affects the performance of a doctor. Malpractice laws create fear in the physicianthat it hinders
them from performing in their maximum capacity. Although malpractice... Show more content on

Forth, the patient was injured. This could be physical, mental, social, or in any other way, the
patient was harmed. Lastly, the patient lost something of value, such as ability to move, walk,
etc. In order for a patient to charge a doctor for malpractice, all five of these elements must occur.
There are two key purposes for medical malpractice laws. It focuses on two groups of people, one
the patient and the other doctor. Medical malpractice laws give back compensation to the patient
for any injury caused by the mistake of the doctor and prevent doctors from practicing negligence
(The National Bureau of Economic Research). Malpractice law keeps the patient and doctor in a
check and balance state such that the actions of one can directly affect the life of the other. For
instance, in the doctor is not practicing according to the medical standards, the patient can use sue
the doctor. The patient can help the doctor practice medicinewith sincerity.
A doctor can be sued for malpractice. In addition to that, doctors can get their medical practice
license revoked. There are different ways; a doctor can lose his or her license. First, if the
physician does not show good moral character to the public, it can affect their practice, because it
would be considered unethical. Moreover, if the patient records are not recorded accurately with
falsification, it can cause the doctor to lose his or her license. In addition to that, falsely

of these theories can be directly applied to the Criminal Justice field. Theories focus on why some

it. Psychologist Terrie Moffitt proposed her Developmental Theory identifying two developmental

This is especially true when it involves young people. Young people/persons are quite easily
influenced, and impressionable. It is a very critical and important time in one s life, trapped
somewhere between childhood and adulthood. It is a period of extreme change, extreme
choices, and big decisions. Lack of one s own identity, confusion, and the need and desire to
belong, or to fit in somewhere, can and often does provoke irrational thought. The inability or
difficulty to become accepted by one s peers gives way to potentially bad choices. This can be
especially difficult for certain cultural, ethnic, and societal groups. For example, inner city youth
(regardless of race) who grow up in areas with higher crime rates and/or criminal activity, or
lower income families (many with only one parental figure) are by default, at higher risk of
exposure to criminal activity. They in essence, have little or almost no chance of meeting or
interacting with (or being influenced by) someone from the suburbs, or the country (rural areas),
where criminal activity is lower. These inner city youths are more frequently exposed to crime (it
is sometimes all they see and know), and without positive influence, they are more susceptible to
adopt an identity relative and according to what they experience on a regular basis. They believe
that is the norm and in turn, they

Teloomerase Research Paper
Telomerase (TERT) is an enzyme responsible for maintaining the ends of telomeres and reversing
the process of telomere shortening in humans by adding a TTAGGG polynucleotide to the 3 end of
the telomere. The addition of the TTAGGG compensates for inefficiencies in replication of the ends
of DNA in eukaryotes. Telomerase is limited to highly proliferative cells such as germ cells and
lymphocytes where the telomerase is necessary to maintain telomere length, and the telomeres
themselves are not sufficiently long to facilitate such rapid cell division without incurring damage
to the DNA. Most somatic cells exhibit no telomerase activity and in cells where telomerase is
present telomerase activity is strictly regulated. In cells that exhibit

According to the number on the dice, players move either 1 6 spaces. If they land on a normal
square, they read the writing on the space aloud before obeying the instructions, whether it tells
them to lose or gain points or miss their next turn. If they land on a fortune square, (the large
squares in the corner) they pick up a fortune card, read the quote aloud and then flip it, where the
fortune is. If the background is red, that will mean that you just picked up a good fortune card,
but if it is green it will be bad. Then the player follows the instructions on it, alike to the normal
squares where it might be gaining or loss of points. If the player gains points, and if that means
their total equals five they can place a button on one of the dots leading up to the centre. If not, they
simply mark another point on their tally sheet, which is included in the game. If they lose a point
and that means that their total is no longer five but instead four, they take off their counter and
mark on the tally sheet their amount of points.
Order of turns: The game begins with the player who has rolled the highest amount on the dice.
They move off their fortune square and onto another square. Once all players have moved off of
their starting squares, the fortune squares are in play.
Ending the game: The game comes to a close when one player has reached the centre of the board,
with 20 points and 4 counters. However, you can play off for second, third and fourth

George Herbert Mead And Symbolic Interactionism
George Herbert Mead, an early social constructionist, formed symbolic interactionism. Mead
believed that our thoughts, self concept, and the wider community we live in are created through
communication. Symbolic interactionism is what separates humans from the rest of the other
animals. Mead was a philosophy professor at the University of Chicago, Mead thought the true
test of any theory is whether it is useful in solving complex social problems. If it doesn t work in
practice, forget it. Mead taught philosophy but was well known by sociologists as the professor
who trained a generation of the best minds in their field. Mead never put his ideas in a book before

Blumers third premise is that these meanings are handled in, and modified through, an
interpretative process used by the person in dealing with the things encounters. Integrationist s
describe thinking as an inner conversation. Mead called this inner dialogue minding. Minding is the
two second delay while we mentally rehearse our next move, anticipate others reactions. We
naturally talk to ourselves in order to sort out the meaning of a difficult situation. Mead believed
that animals act instinctively and without deliberation. Integrationist s believe that humans require
social stimulation and exposure to abstract symbol systems to embark upon conceptual thought
processes that characterize our species. Without the symbolic interaction that learning a language
requires, we wouldn t be able to think though our responses, we d only react. Symbolic
interaction, whether verbal or nonverbal, activates our cognitive ability for inner dialogue that,
once switched on, won t shut down.( Em Griffin/Andrew Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks pg.57) For
example as kids we play roles, whether it s like our parents or someone imaginary. As an adult we
still put ourselves in the place of others and act as they would act. Mead was convinced that
thinking is the mental conversation we hold with others, always with an eye toward how they
might see us and react to what we might do.
The symbolic interactionism approach is interpretive; the linguistic work of assigning meaning or
value to communicative texts, believes that multiple truths are possible. ( Em Griffin/Andrew
Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks pg.15) The tradition is socio cultural tradition, it s based on the premise
that as people talk, they produce and reproduce culture. ( Em Griffin/Andrew Ledbetter/Glenn

How Is Inanna Powerful
Inanna was an important goddess among the people of Sumer because of the value attached to
her as a goddess of fertility, warfare, and sexual love as well as a respected astral figure. Because of
these qualities, she was regarded as possessing wisdom as depicted in the Mesopotamian myths. In
this aspect, she was perceived to be bringing knowledge and culture, especially to the Urukcity.
Upon receiving the gift from Enki, the god of wisdom while he was drunk, she brought the skills

Hinduism was brought to India by nomadic people thousands of years ago and is a polytheistic
system with various gods and goddesses as well as lesser deities. Hinduism is related to Buddhism
because many early ideas found in Hinduism influenced the Buddhist teachings. Founded in the

Feng Shui is an art of divination and a method of influencing our destiny. The principles of
Taoism serve as the foundation of the art of Feng Shui. Taoism is run by a single principle, the
Tao, however, the Tao is divided into two opposite principles, the ying and yang. Based on this

How To Increase Crime In America

Children could play outside without their parent worrying because most people just left them

able to fit into that life nicely. I already live next to my grandparents and one of my brothers so
living next to more nice people would not have been a problem for me. Elvis was also live alive

over all the bad times were also over. There was an increase in the national gross product mostly
from the construction of roads and other national improvements. Wages were high and most

more money for things they like and there were many advancements that gave them things to

Separate but equal facilities were ruled against the law so the integration of African Americans
into white facilities began. Nonviolent resistance was common unlike today when protests are
more frequent than peaceful protests. There was not as much anger between the races as there is

popular form of expression even with the level of satisfaction that was present. The violent
protests that occur now are probably due to the higher crime rate. Protests now also involve theft

helping others. She proceeds to provide evidence for her conclusion that health benefits result from
helping other people in the form of volunteering with a study conducted by BMC Public Health.
Konrath dives deeper into the study to show its impartiality and identifies the rarity of such
findings. Next, the article recognizes reasons for helping others being good for people s healthand
the people that are most apt to benefit from benevolence. Among these explanations, Konrath
realizes the existence of harmful effects of volunteering. She concludes the article by tying in her
title of The Caring Cure with the aforementioned research findings by beckoning the reader to take
advantage of the newfound health benefits that accompany benevolence. Psychology Today is an
immensely useful source because it covers a variety of topics and consistently has new articles.

Next, Szalavitz bolsters her previous statement that people can benefit from selfless acts by
presenting statistics and facts discovered by a study from BMC Public Health. To give the reader a
sense of reality, Szalavitz offers a reminder that genuine and regular benevolence is required to
reap such rewards. Next, she mentions a few more health benefits that one can acquire from
helping others before describing the harm it can incur. Szalavitz continues her argument by
describing a more general danger of benevolence and recognizes the limited verification of the
research findings. She concludes the article with statistics of how people are being encouraged to
volunteer around the world and establishes the purpose of helping others in the first

The Characteristics Of Alfred Hitler s Birth Order
Alfred Adler was most famous for his perspective on how the development as a person based on
your birth is progressed. He believes that each family is different and that his birth order scale just
happens to be a possible tool to help people understand the general roles of children. Even though
Adler states the types of position you were born are important, he also describes his birth orderscale
as it is not birth order itself that accounts for differences among siblings, but the psychological
situation resulting from it (Allen, 2006). For example, you may be an only child, but take on many
or possible more characteristics of a middle child based on Adler s description. Although Adler
believes in the characteristics he stated for each birth orders, he states that if there are more than
three years between the children, that the birth order may appear different or inaccurate.
In addition, I believe that Adler was pretty accurate when stating the characteristics on the
position of birth. I am an only child in which Adler states are very comfortable with adults, may
have a special unique gift for their birth order, and tend to have a harder time sharing with others.
He also states that only child tend to want to be the center of attention (Allen, 2006). I believe I fit
this birth order pretty accurately. I tend to much rather hang out with adults than to hang out with
children. I also have very few friends that are my age or younger than me, in which most are older. I

Who Is John s Identity In Brave New World
In a futuristic utopian society in which people are grown as nearly identical embryos in bottles,
finding someone who is a complete outcast from the rest of society is rare. In Brave New World,
the author, Aldous Huxley, makes John an exception. Isolated, disengaged, and rejected, John is
truthfully not apart of the civilized World State culture or the savage Indian culture. Being the only
person in the book not born in a laboratory, John additionally stands to represent a unique human
being whose identity and family relationships violate all the other s societal ideals. His experience
with exile was alienating for his relationships with people yet enriching, at times, for his self
expression. The thought of isolating one s self is frowned... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Two of the World State beliefs that John feels the strongest opposed to include soma distribution
and sex. John believes that soma is a sedating drug which the government gives to the civilized
in order to distract them from their unhappiness and noticing something is wrong within their
society. The people take soma for comfort without realizing the enslaving nature the soma
withholds. John picks this up in Chapter 15 of the novel when he throws the Delta s soma out
the window saying, Don t you even understand what manhood and freedom are. (page 213) John
also disagrees with the World State s view on sex, which can be partially attributed to his reading
of Shakespeare work. In the various books John has read, Shakespeare talks about sex as if it is
a special activity for two people who love each other and intend to marry. On the other hand, the
World State strongly encourages erotic play for people of all ages as strictly a form of
entertainment. If it was anything more, such as emotional bonding, it would destabilize the world
the controllers have constructed. She was a popular girl and, at one time or another, had spent a
night with almost all of them. ( page 57) This quote supports John s belief that sex is a casual and

Essay On Confederate Flag
Morals. Everyone has them, although they may differ. It is taught to us when we are young
children to always be polite and kind to others. Yet adults, those who are supposed to be the most
mature, show less humanity than children, and go out of their way to offend other people. The
Confederate Flag for example. It is shown on cars and flying outside of buildings, but what is
the point? Those flaunting the flag must know that others may take offense to it. The
Confederate Flag is symbolic of a racist past and should be banned from public places because hate
groups have adopted it and weaponized the flag to create division and oppression. The
Confederate Flag, otherwise known as Stars and Stripes , was a battle flag adopted by the
Confederate Congress In March 1861. It was originally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to individuals who harbor racist ideologies, and because of that, its meaning has changed to
reflect what those groups represent ( Confederate Flag Should Be Banned From Public Places ).
These groups abuse the freedom of speech which allows them to continue to use the Confederate
Flag. One thought is that the flag should not be banned, because of the fact that the freedom of
speech exists, and there should not be any backlash for supporting the public flaunting of the
flag, but that thinking process is false then because people can then say that they want the flag
banned because they too have the freedom of speech. If the flag was banned from public, people
would still have the right to fly that flag and express their beliefs, they just wouldn t be able to

What Is The Characters Of The Doloneia Of Homer
The Doloneia of Homer
Throughout most of The Iliad of Homer, the reader can notice the constant use of the tradition of
polemos (greek for fight, battle, Daemon of war), in other words, the epic is full of detailed
description of several scenes of open warfare in which one of the central subjects is the hero s
aristeia. This fact can be illustrated by the most prototypical example: the moment in which
Achilleus decided to rejoin the war in Books 19 through 21. However, in Book 10 of The Iliad,
often called Doloneia, the whole environment changes drastically. For the first time in the epic, the
Homeric tradition of polemos is not in place, instead, Homer adopted another ancient greek literary
tradition the lokhos (ancient greek for ambush). In this tradition, the action does not happening in
battlefields, but in the backstages of war instead. This notable change leads the reader to wonder
whether Book 10 integrally fits The Iliad.
When analyzing the Doloneia, the various differences from previous books are notable: right in
the first lines, one can notice that the setting of the story from Book 10 diverges from the standard.

Distractions Of Creative Writing
Creative writing papers are a struggle for everyone. The distractions from others, surroundings, or
even oneself can affect how creative your paper is. Mary Oliver the writer of Of Power and Time
has proven to people the true distractions from writing. The distractions pop up from thoughts, other
people, or surroundings. The thoughts that pop up happen to everyone not even just when writinga
paper. Different thoughts pop up all the time and it seems almost impossible to keep a clear mind.
Distractions from other people is also a big thing that happens when someone is trying to write.
Trying to zone all the surrounding people in the room is a very hard task to handle. Commotion is
a key to distraction. Different surroundings can also be a distraction. Distractions come from all
surroundings. It does not matter these will affect one s mind and distract a person. Oliver has
used her knowledge, persuasion, and emotion to tell students what to look out for when trying to
write a paper. Mary Oliver uses the state of convincing in her paper to convince people that her
ways of commitment and solitude is the way to write a paper. Oliver states that in order to create
a paper that is convincing one need to be committed and need to have time to themselves to write
the paper. Oliver states that when one is writing a paper they need to be somewhere where they are
alone with no distractions. They need to have complete silence but also need an open mind when

Comparing The Gospels Of Saint Willibrord And Four...
The comparison between Symbol of Matthew from the Gospels of Saint Willibrord and Four
Evangelists from the Aachen Gospels demonstrates the contrast between the less realistic period of
the dark ages with the more realistic style of the Carolingian period. Art from the Dark ages focuses
very little on naturalistic portrayal of human figures, but instead puts high importance on geometric
decorative patterns. The Carolingian period began moving away from that, and artist started painting
figures with more realism. The extremely unrealism verse the early signs of realism is first evident
by the differences in spatial depth. The artist of Symbol of Matthew used no spatial depth at all. It

Artist of the Dark Ages did not use spatial depth, so the focus would be on the surrounding pattern
and how it interacted with the figure. There was a strong interest in elaborate patterns during this
time, that were often lines interlacing with one another, much like the surround board of Symbol
of Matthew. This trait was mostly thrown out during the later Carolingian Period. Another
comparison of the two pieces that reflected the change in realism in this different body types. In
Symbol of Matthew, the only parts of the human figure that the artist chose to paint are the
symmetric front face head, and his two hands. The rest of his body is covered by a geometric

Road Trip into Tradition
Every year, my family makes an effort to travel across the country from our hometown in
Tennessee to southern California to visit family. Our family has celebrated many traditions over
the years, but this is one that means the most to me. Also, some of the most memorable moments
of my life happened during this tradition. It all started when I was around 4 years old. My family
decided to move away from the big city in Southern California to a more country setting more
suitable for raising children. Ever since, we have made the trip back and forth, only missing one
year since. This unique tradition has helped me to develop to appreciate my family and bring us
closer together.
Our trek starts in Tennessee, and goes through five states before reaching California, at the other
end of the continent. Arkansas is mundane driving through, with nothing really interesting to look
at and see, save lots of trees and cows. Oklahoma is just one big plain, making it even worse than
the previous state. It also has wind turbines, which is the only object to break the monotony of the

Celiac Disease And Its Effects On The Body System
Celiac disease seems to be on an up rise today. You now walk into grocery stores and restaurants
and see gluten free food everywhere. Thankfully, for the celiac disease community, life has
become a little easier with these accommodations. When most people hear celiac disease many
just think gluten free diets, but they do not realize that celiac disease can affect all parts of the
body and mind, or that the disease has a higher prevalence in women. It is a new lifestyle that
many have to take on. In the next few pages, I will discuss the affects that this disease has on the
body systems, the lifestyle changes many make when diagnosed with celiac disease, and the
importance of educating those who are dealing with the disease on a day to day basis. I also will
discuss information from two articles which focus in on the direct affects that the disease takes
on women living with it, and the lifestyle changes that are necessary to manage the symptoms.
Celiac disease is seen in about 1 2% of the population, with a 2:1 woman to men ratio (Lisa Ring
Jacobsson, 2011). I choose this topic because celiac disease and gluten free diets seem to be on
the rise. In the past, the diet and lifestyle changes for people with celiac disease was very
challenging, but in recent years there has been an increase in the amount of people being diagnosed
with celiac disease. There is much more information out there about these special diets. Life has

bigger, and if they fail the cost will not be as devastating, the amount of risk is at a minimum
compared to a WOS (Morschet, Schramm Klein, Zentes, 2010). 2.4 The disadvantages of JVs
Being partners is not always easy, and it takes time and a lot of effort to build up a strong
relationship between two companies. There are many uncertainties around partnerships, the partner
can have a hidden agenda and have an opportunistic behavior (Aswathappa, 2010). The goal or
objective for the partnership can be unclear and makes it difficult to know when they have
succeeded. If there is an unbalance in the level of investment, effort or expertise the other partner
can feel they are not getting what they expected. Many get caught up in endless conflicts, and often
these issues are based on cultural differences. Most of these problems are management issues, but
sometimes the company s management can agree on every point but the employers do not get
enough information (businesslink.gov.uk). Without thorough research and effective communication
the employers can start to working against the integration. 3. Discussion Setting up a WOS or JV
can be a difficult choice but by doing a solid market research and an intern research of their own

were affected by this war, and that group of people is the Hmong people.
CENTRAL IDEA:

Hmong people and changed their lives forever.

The main subject of The Making of the Fittest is how current DNA analysis provides devastating
indication in support of evolution by means of natural selection. This is an independent form of
evidence that was totally unavailable to Darwin, but it supports him to the hilt. Organisms

Occupation Therapy
The American Occupational Therapy Association has used several themes and/or mottos in their
promotional efforts. One of them which has a major impact in the field of Occupation Therapy is
building skills for a better life . Seeing as simple as it is, this motto has helped and nourished the
development of building new strategies and ideas in people s lives. Building skills for a better life
could be interpreted and broken down into several different meaning but what s most important
about this particular motto is that it shows a clear pathway for increasing one s individuality by

Hemigrapsus Sanguineus Research Paper
Hemigrapsus sanguineus, commonly known as the Asian Shore Crab, has been a major player
in the evolution of certain defenses of New England bivalve molluscs. Mytilus edulis, the New
England blue mussel, has been directly impacted by the predation of the Asian Shore Crab. H.
sanguineus is an invasive species to the Atlantic coast of the United States. It first appeared in the
southern New England area in 1988, presumably by trade ships from the Western Pacific. It has
since spread to the south Atlantic and is still expanding slowly northward as well (Stokstad,
2006). Introductions to new areas by humans allow for species who would never cross
evolutionary paths to do just that. These new interactions provide a new framework and
environment for novel selection pressures to present themselves. These strong selection pressures

What Problem of Motivation Did Archie Norman Discover at...
1.What problem of motivation did Archie Norman discover at ASDA?
ASDA was one of the most successful retail businesses in the United Kingdom. It had a
competitive advantage due to its unique superstore structure and its low price leadership in the
market. Everything changed all of a sudden as ASDA found itself with demoralized employees,
slow growth in sales, and declining profits in 1991 due to many years of lack of interest from
previous managers. It had been a 1 billion pounds cash surplus supermarket chain in 1987, and by
1991 it had a debt of over 1 billion pounds. This was the situation that Archie Norman encountered
at ASDA when appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Federal Special Education Act Analysis
Part I: Important Laws Regarding Special Education in the United States
Federal special education Acts have progressed over time to insure that all children, including those
with disabilities, have equal access to education. (Hardman Dawson, 2008, p. 5) The factors that led
to these important federal Acts are varied, but the civil rights movement played a role in ensuring
that there were equal education opportunities for all children (Gargiulo, 2015, p. 42) (Hardman
Dawson, 2008).
In 1975 the Education for all Handicapped Children Act (PL 94 142) was signed by President
Gerald Ford and is notable for the following enduring concepts: a free appropriate public education

The federal Act was designed to ensure academic success for each child and anticipated that the
goals of NCLB would be achieved by 2013. If a student did not meet standards, the federal
government was to hold the school and school s educators accountable. Access to success at school
extended to all students, including those with disabilities (Hardman Dawson, 2008, p. 5). As part
of the Act, systems were to be put in place to alert parents to schools who were having difficulty

The United Bill Of Rights
The United Bill of Rights is perhaps one of the most important pieces of constitutional legislature
that protects the rights of the individual to freedom, liberty, and personal autonomy by limiting the
powers of the federal government. While most people and the media discussions surrounding the
Bill of Rights usually clusters around the 1st and 2nd Amendments, the 7th Amendment is also an
integral component in limiting federal power, which aids in transferring the power of government
from the concentrated hands of a few to instead the people. However, the 7th Amendment plays a
less significant role in affecting the day to day lives of the average American in today s time than
it did when the Bill of Rights was initially ratified in 1791.
The 7th Amendment is fairly straightforward in meaning and intention, but has important
implications in terms of limiting federal power. There are two important elements of this
amendment. The first component, known as the Preservation Clause, declares: In Suits at common
law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be
preserved. This is the part most people know, which details in what situations a jury is needed for
trial. The second component, known as the Re examination clause, states: no fact tried by a jury,
shall be otherwise re examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the
common law. Consequently, federal judges are prevented from overruling

How Does the Development of Core Competencies Provide Both...
How does the development of core competencies provide both advantages and disadvantages for
an organisation? What steps can managers take to prevent core competencies becoming core
rigidities? In today s world competition among firms becomes globalized and more intense. In
order to become superiorly competitive, companies should enhance its competencies in a way
that will allow them to achieve dominant position in a market. One way of accomplishing it is by
development of core competencies. Competencies are considered core if they are skillfully
performed and are principal to company s strategy and its competiveness (Thompson et al, 2013).
They are result of collective learning activities (Prohalad and Hamel, 1990), a combination of...

For instance, mentioned by some participants in the discussion, Nokia lost its leadership in
production of mobile phones as they were unable to adapt to the new era of phones pioneered by
Iphone. There has been general consensus throughout the discussion that applying dynamic
capabilities approach can prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities. The idea of dynamic
capabilities lies in a necessity of a company to create, extend and modify its resource base, whether
it would be minor continuous improvements; creation of new resources or combination of existing
ones in new ways; or a complete renewing of the resource base, depending on how dynamic the
environment is, in order to sustain competitive advantage and address external changes. What is
important here is the managers perception of the environmental dynamism that providesthe basis
for their ability to identify the need for changes and extend those changes when necessary.
According to Amrosini et al (2009), managers who fail to identify correctly the environmental
dynamism may react not accordingly to the actual environment and, thus, apply insufficient
changes (risk of strategic shift), prefer predictability of routine past

The History Of The Big Ear Radio Telescope
Have you ever pondered what may lie beyond our solar system? Perhaps you ve decided that
there is no way anything could be out there, in the empty, seemingly endless void we call space.
However, perhaps there is other life out there, life more advanced than us, perhaps life just now
exiting what to us would be the stone age, the possibilities are truly infinite. Personally, I believe
there are other beings out there in the vast expanse. On August 15th, 1977 at 11:16 PM EDT the
Big Ear Radio Telescope located at the Ohio State University received an unknown radio
transmission that came from somewhere seemingly within the Sagittarius Constellation, bearing the
hallmarks of extraterrestrial origin. Eighteen years prior to this, Two Cornwell... Show more content

Fermi Paradox. The Fermi Paradox states whether or not we are alone in our galaxy, and if not,
where is everyone? In life there are filters, or rather, great barriers for life to overcome. For
example, some filters we may have to go through in the future include Nuclear War, and Climate
change. Some filters that may explain why we haven t found any signs of advanced civilization
may include things such as Advanced Technology exists, but when activated, it ends up destroying
the planet. The last words of every advanced civilization would be something like This new
technology will solve all our problems once I push this button! If this is the case, then chances are,
we ourselves could be much closer to the end than we are to the beginning of human existence.
Another filter could be that there is a type 3 civilization (Simply put, a civilization with some of/the
most advanced technology imaginable) somewhere out there, and when

A Brief Look at Poliomyelitis
INTRODUCTION Poliomyelitis is often called polio, this polio is an acute infectious disease
caused by a virus which can spread from person to person via the fecal oral route. The term
poliomyelitis means inflammation of the spinal cord of the grey matter. In severe poliomyelitis
infection it can expand to the brainstem. Polio is so contagious that anyone living with a person
that is recently affected can spread the virus for weeks in their feces. It invades the nervous system
and spread within hours. Poliomyelitiscauses infection with a member of the genus called the
enterovirus which is known as the poliovirus. It belongs to a group of Ribonucleic acid (RNA)
viruses which affects the gastrointestinal tract especially the intestine and the oropharynx. Its
structure is very simple, composed of a single positive sense RNA genome which is enclosed in
a protein shell called the capsid. The capsid apart from protecting the virus genetic material, it
capsid protein also make the polio virus to infect some certain types of cells. There are three
serotypes of poliovirus that have been identified; it includes the poliovirus type 1, poliovirus
type of 2 and poliovirus 3. They all look similar but have a small different structure in its capsid
protein. The poliovirus type 1 is the one that causes most of the disease and is mostly associated
with paralysis. Poliomyelitis can come in two ways of polio infection .There is a minor illness
which does not involve the Central

Therapeutic Cloning Debate
I would like to introduce myself as Falantina Rashoo and would like to discuss the bill about the
reproductive and therapeutic cloning and the process of each and weather people should be
against it or with it and why you should not vote for the bill. There has been a lot of people that are
alright with reproductive and therapeutic cloning. Some people do not understand that sometimes
things can go wrong while cloning. people might be alright with cloning animals that are gone
forever but cloning pets that just died and just because some people want another copy of their
loved pet that they lost does not mean that we should play with the nature and control it by making
another copy of the pet.
One of the reasons to not let this bill pass is that we as human we should respect our nature and that
when we lose something we can not have it back and that is because that is life and that is how
we came to life to die one day and not be made again by scientists. One of the arguments in a
discussion says Human cloning would produce psychological distress and harm in the later twin
(Mc.maricopa) There is some danger in cloning the copy might not survive or might not be able
to produce babies. Also a very large percentage of cloning efforts end in failure it took 277
attempts to clone Dolly the sheep. There is some question as to why Dolly, the famous ... Show

How Basketball Has Changed The World Essay

professionals for entertainment or simply watching from home, basketball is very enjoyed all
over the world. Beginning with a unique history, basketball has evolved over time from a simple
idea into a professional career choice for those with the unique skill set. During the winter of
1892 in a town in Massachusetts a physical education teacher, Dr. James Naismith, at a YMCA
school created a game where young men could play indoors aside from going outside in the
freezing cold. To be prepared for the game, Dr. Naismith came up with some rules for the game,
gathered two peach baskets for hoops, a soccer ball, and coached the first basketball game in
history. Dr. Naismith came up with thirteen rules. While four out of the thirteen rules that he came
up with, are no longer followed in today s version of basketball, the nine that are left were slightly
modified and are still in use today. The original thirteen rules are as follows: The ball is thrown
with both hands in any direction. The player can not run with the ball, so they need to throw it
where they caught it from. The ball is batted in any direction not with the fist but with both hands.

  • 2. Women s Role And Image Of Women Within industrialized nations, the role and image of women has undergone profound changes over the past few decades. Female participation in the workforce has increased steadily and societal attitudes towards women engaging in paid work have undergone significant change (Schwartz, 1988). These historical shifts have made the equality of women and men in society and the workforce an attainable goal. The participation of women in paid labour has challenged traditional gender roles and the societal ideal of the nuclear family with a sole male breadwinner. However, the primary responsibility of childcare continues to fall upon women. There are biological and social realities that must be taken into consideration when creating workplace ... This paper will provide an analysis of the parental leave guidelines in Canada and the United States; the historical, ideological, political, and economic factors that have influenced policy decision making; the impacts of paid maternity leave on employment and maternal and infant health; future implications of parental leave policy; and desirable policy development for both of these nations. The parental leave policies of Canada and the United States make for a rich policy comparison. There are several key differences between the policy approaches of these countries. These policy differences are the result of a variety of factors that can by compared and contrasted to develop an understanding of how these policies came into fruition. In addition to the distinct differences in the policy routes taken within these countries in regards to parental leave, there are a number of less prominent similarities that can be examined as well. The tall tale nature of his stories, particularly The Alchemist, makes it clear that chronicled precision is not the purpose of the story. For Coelho s situation the contentions against him are of an alternate sort. To begin with, there is the dissension that his Portuguese is, truth be told, not great. What is intriguing is that the greater part of his linguistic stumbles are omitted in interpretation. In this way, one just sees them in the event that one peruses Portuguese, something that exclusive a little part of his readership does. Truth be told, these wrongdoings against linguistic use do nothing to such an extent as give a gentle casual quality to the dialect, and don t diminish at all from the charm and conceivability of the content. The protestation is more political than whatever else, since Brazilian Portuguese, a dialect which still recognizes forcefully amongst composed and talked dialect, has too

Bordone is clearly influence by one of these paintings while painting his work. It is said that the painting by Bordone is indebted to a similar depiction of the same subject by Tintoretto (Ilchman, Christ Disputing in the Temple, in Eye of the Beholder). When we look at Tintoretto s version of the painting, we can see clear similarities between both his and Bordone s. The immediate similarities being the use of light, as well as how Bordone chooses to shift the painting to capture the most interesting moments in the story, rather than show just one snippet of the action presented in the written work. This is due to the fact that both him and Tintoretto are Venetian painters, and both were assistants to Titian, another very famous Venetian artist (Ilchman). While the perspective offered in Tintoretto s painting is not naturalistic, and the scale of the many figures is rather skewed, we can still see the influence he had on Bordone. In Tintoretto s painting it shows the same dramatic scene that Bordone paints. The figures are all in movement, looking at books, debating with either Christ, or themselves. Which is essentially what Bordone s painting is demonstrating as well. Tintoretto also depicts Christ on a throne surrounded by the doctors, which mirrors Bordone s. The only difference from Tintoretto s, is that there are less people, and Christ is not in the exact center in Bordone s painting. Bordone uses a more realistic approach to his painting than Tintoretto. Tintoretto chooses to make the figures in the foreground gigantic, and with large books that don t seem realistic at ... The similarities between them can be analyzed from the facts that Bhagavat Gita and the Bible has emphasized on the love for man. The texts from both Holy books indicate the fact that God says that he loves those who love the mankind. Further, both the books have cleared that only God guides people, which can be analyzed from texts of both books. The visual modes can range from an oil painting, to media on the internet, advertisements or TV. Visual culture has an influence on the consumer who is exposed to it. In this essay, I am looking specifically at how visual culture is used in advertisements, and how large brands, such as Coca Cola and McDonalds, use visual culture throughout their advertisements. Visual culture is often used to benefit a business. Such as increasing brand recognition through the marketing of the brand via colour or imagery. It can also be through catchy slogans or jingles that are created to leave an impression and therefore influence the consumer to the extent that they are remembered for a significant period of time. Therefore, it can be seen that Coca Cola and McDonalds both use different forms of visual culture in order to improve company image and increase brand recognition. Coca Cola have often used different forms of visual culture in their advertisements in order to portray their product and company in certain ways, such as their manipulation of the Santa Clause character and image, and their use of colours in their visuals. Coca Cola has taken the cultural image of Santa Clause and made it a focal point in many of their advertisements. The inability or difficulty to become accepted by one s peers gives way to potentially bad choices. This can be especially difficult for certain cultural, ethnic, and societal groups. For example, inner city youth (regardless of race) who grow up in areas with higher crime rates and/or criminal activity, or lower income families (many with only one parental figure) are by default, at higher risk of exposure to criminal activity. They in essence, have little or almost no chance of meeting or interacting with (or being influenced by) someone from the suburbs, or the country (rural areas), where criminal activity is lower. These inner city youths are more frequently exposed to crime (it is sometimes all they see and know), and without positive influence, they are more susceptible to adopt an identity relative and according to what they experience on a regular basis. They believe that is the norm and in turn, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Teloomerase Research Paper Telomerase (TERT) is an enzyme responsible for maintaining the ends of telomeres and reversing the process of telomere shortening in humans by adding a TTAGGG polynucleotide to the 3 end of the telomere. The addition of the TTAGGG compensates for inefficiencies in replication of the ends of DNA in eukaryotes. Telomerase is limited to highly proliferative cells such as germ cells and lymphocytes where the telomerase is necessary to maintain telomere length, and the telomeres themselves are not sufficiently long to facilitate such rapid cell division without incurring damage to the DNA. Most somatic cells exhibit no telomerase activity and in cells where telomerase is present telomerase activity is strictly regulated. In cells that exhibit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mead believed that animals act instinctively and without deliberation. Integrationist s believe that humans require social stimulation and exposure to abstract symbol systems to embark upon conceptual thought processes that characterize our species. Without the symbolic interaction that learning a language requires, we wouldn t be able to think though our responses, we d only react. As an adult we still put ourselves in the place of others and act as they would act. Mead was convinced that thinking is the mental conversation we hold with others, always with an eye toward how they might see us and react to what we might do. The symbolic interactionism approach is interpretive; the linguistic work of assigning meaning or value to communicative texts, believes that multiple truths are possible. • 28. What Is The Characters Of The Doloneia Of Homer The Doloneia of Homer Throughout most of The Iliad of Homer, the reader can notice the constant use of the tradition of polemos (greek for fight, battle, Daemon of war), in other words, the epic is full of detailed description of several scenes of open warfare in which one of the central subjects is the hero s aristeia. This fact can be illustrated by the most prototypical example: the moment in which Achilleus decided to rejoin the war in Books 19 through 21. However, in Book 10 of The Iliad, often called Doloneia, the whole environment changes drastically. For the first time in the epic, the Homeric tradition of polemos is not in place, instead, Homer adopted another ancient greek literary tradition the lokhos (ancient greek for ambush). This trait was mostly thrown out during the later Carolingian Period. Another comparison of the two pieces that reflected the change in realism in this different body types. In Symbol of Matthew, the only parts of the human figure that the artist chose to paint are the symmetric front face head, and his two hands. The rest of his body is covered by a geometric cloak made up of three sections. The artist clearly had more interest in anatomy in the Four Evangelist. It goes along with the spatial depth, but there is also signs of model, shadowing, and highlighting to the figures which much more realistic. The Carolingian figures also ... Road Trip Into Tradition Research Paper Road Trip into Tradition Every year, my family makes an effort to travel across the country from our hometown in Tennessee to southern California to visit family. Our family has celebrated many traditions over the years, but this is one that means the most to me. Also, some of the most memorable moments of my life happened during this tradition. It all started when I was around 4 years old. My family decided to move away from the big city in Southern California to a more country setting more suitable for raising children. Ever since, we have made the trip back and forth, only missing one year since. This unique tradition has helped me to develop to appreciate my family and bring us closer together. Our trek starts in Tennessee, and goes through five states before reaching California, at the other end of the continent. Arkansas is mundane driving through, with nothing really interesting to look at and see, save lots of trees and cows. Oklahoma is just one big plain, making it even worse than the previous state. When most people hear celiac disease many just think gluten free diets, but they do not realize that celiac disease can affect all parts of the body and mind, or that the disease has a higher prevalence in women. It is a new lifestyle that many have to take on. In the next few pages, I will discuss the affects that this disease has on the body systems, the lifestyle changes many make when diagnosed with celiac disease, and the importance of educating those who are dealing with the disease on a day to day basis. I also will discuss information from two articles which focus in on the direct affects that the disease takes on women living with it, and the lifestyle changes that are necessary to manage the symptoms. Celiac disease is seen in about 1 2% of the population, with a 2:1 woman to men ratio (Lisa Ring Jacobsson, 2011). I choose this topic because celiac disease and gluten free diets seem to be on the rise. In the past, the diet and lifestyle changes for people with celiac disease was very challenging, but in recent years there has been an increase in the amount of people being diagnosed with celiac disease. There has been a lot of people that are alright with reproductive and therapeutic cloning. Some people do not understand that sometimes things can go wrong while cloning. people might be alright with cloning animals that are gone forever but cloning pets that just died and just because some people want another copy of their loved pet that they lost does not mean that we should play with the nature and control it by making another copy of the pet. One of the reasons to not let this bill pass is that we as human we should respect our nature and that when we lose something we can not have it back and that is because that is life and that is how we came to life to die one day and not be made again by scientists.
