Amelia Earhart Conspiracy Theory
There are many theories on what happened to Amelia Earhart but which ones are true? Nobody
really knows for sure what happened to her but there are many theories on what happened.
Amelia Earhart was an experienced pilot. she was the first female pilot to fly across the atlantic
ocean. That by itself is a very long flight for back then, but she wanted to step it up by flying across
the whole world. (Crouch) Amelia Earhart disappeared on July 2, 1937. To this day nobody knows
for sure what happened to her. There are many conspiracy theories about what happened to her but
there are still none that have been confirmed. her last words were We must be on you, but cannot

Emirau Island, off Papua New Guinea, seems an unlikely place to find Earhart because it s far
from the spot where her last radio transmissions occurred. Still, a U.S. Navy crew member in
World War II told of being sent to the island and spotting a photo of Earhart tacked up in the hut
of a local man. The photo showed Earhart standing with a Japanese military officer, a missionary
and a young boy. The sailor alerted naval intelligence officers, who allegedly took the photo from
the hut against the owner s wishes. The photo has never been found. Since Emirau Island had been
a haven for Europeans stranded after a shipwreck in 1940, it s likely the photo contained a
lookalike and not the real Amelia Earhart.

The Violation Of Miranda Rights
Mr. Knight s statements to officers in the patrol car cannot be suppressed for violation of Miranda
rights because he was neither in custody not subjected to an interrogation. To suppress a statement
under the Fifth Amendment for violation of Miranda rights, (1) the suspect must be in custody of
law enforcement officials and (2) subjected to interrogation (3) without being first provided
Miranda warnings. United States v. Brownlee, 454 F.3d 131, 4 (3d Cir. 2006) (citing Rhode Island
v. Innis, 446 U.S. 291 (1980)). Here, the policeofficers that detained Mr. Knight are law
enforcement officials; however, Mr. Knight was not in custody because he was stopped for a short
and temporary amount of time, and the officers explicitly told him that he would be free to go after
completing the traffic summons paperwork. Additionally, Mr. Knight s incriminating statements
during his detention were not the product of an interrogation because they were voluntary and not
reasonably foreseeable by Officer Davis. Consequently, Mr. Knight did not require a Miranda
warning, meaning his incriminating statements in the patrol car cannot be suppressed under the
Fifth Amendment.

The Free Movement Of Goods
It is obvious that the free movement of goods is fundamental to the achievement of the
European Union(EU) s aims and the Court of Justice of the EU (ECJ). It is an economic ideals
to create a single trading block in which all factors of goods to flow freely. As it is one of the
success stories in the EU s project where most major restriction on the free movement of goods have
been removed. The availability of such derogation is a recognition that the need to ensure the
creation and maintenance of the internal market, allowing state regulation and the aim of free
movement of goods to be reconciled. Hence, ECJ has taken the stance that national rules must not
be allowed state regulation to hinder the free movement of goods, as interpreting... Show more

However, the court usually finds that labelling provides the consumer with sufficient
information and protection, and is a lesser hindrance to trade. The court held in Keck that these
are generally not restrictions on imports, as long as they do not have a greater effect on imports
than on domestic products. But Keck is criticised by many because even if selling arrangements
do not have an unequal effect, they may still have the effect of hindering trade, by making
marketing more difficult.Article 34 only applies insofar as measures affect imports. If states
wish to burden domestic producers with heavy regulation this is a matter of purely national law.
However in exceptional situations stricter regulation of domestic production may actually give it
a reputational advantage and so be a hindrance to imports. These measures of equivalent effect
(MEQRs) result in imports being reduced just as if there was in fact an explicit limit. First the
MEQR produces its import reducing effects by a more or less indirect path. That can make
causation difficult to establish. ECJ has dealt with this by drawing broad brush distinctions of
convenience . Second problem is to decide whether article 34 is about combating rules with a
protectionist effect, or about deregulating economic activity. These are measures which cannot be
easily captured by the Cassis definition of a product rule or the Keck definition of a selling

Compare And Contrast The Valley Of Ashes In The Great Gatsby
Imagine a world where one side of the equator was filled with wealth, happiness, and content.
Now imagine the other side of the equator filled with poverty, sadness, and death. These two
completely opposing halves enhance each other s descriptions and make one think of each side
more deeply about the concept. This same scenario is also present in one of America s favorite
novels based upon the 1920s and the American dream. In F. Scott Fitzgeralds novel, The Great
Gatsby, Fitzgerald juxtaposes two contrasting places, the Valley of Ashes and New York City
, using
imagery to magnify the difference between reality and a fantasy, which is central to the meaning
of the work. The Valley of Ashes is halfway between West Egg of Long Island and New York
City. When one comes upon the Valley of Ashes, it is not what they see, but what they do not
see: sunshine, colors, or a settling feeling. The Valley of Ashes is nothing but a dull location,
filled with unsatisfied farmers, unsuccessful gardens, billowing smoke, and mounds of ashes
that are prominent below the gray skies. Nick Carraway, the narrator of The Great Gatsby,
describes the Valley of Ashes as ...a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and
hills and grotesque gardens; where ashes take the forms of houses and chimneys and rising
smoke and, finally, with a transcendent effort, of men who move dimly and already crumbling
through the powdery air (Fitzgerald 23). Fitzgerald describes this location as unpleasant for
those who enter and it is seen as a vulnerable place due to the billboard of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg
looking upon the location at all times. This descriptive quote foreshadows that something bad
will occur in this area during the novel. As for New York City, in the novel it is defined as the
perfect place to live life to the fullest and not have a care of the world. As a reader, it is expected to
envision this city full of lights as a bright, restless, and colorful place. Nick Carraway depicts
New York City as a ...city rising up across the river in white heaps and sugar lumps all built with
a wish out of non olfactory money. The city seen from the Queensboro Bridge is always the city
seen for the first time, in its first wild promise of

The Rugby League
Rugby is a team sport played on a field. There are three main forms of rugby rugby league, rugby
union and sevens. This paper will focus primarily on elements that they have in common. For the
first two forms, there are thirteen players on the field for each team. A game is eighty minutes long
and is divided into two halves of continuous action.
The objective of rugby is to carry an oblong ball down the field and across the opponent s goal line.
This is the main scoring play, known as a try. A try is worth five points. In order to count for a try,
the player must take the ball across the goal line and set it down on the ground. The point at
which the ball is set down is used as the basis for the try at goal. This is a kicking play, and it
follows a try. The team that scored the try attempts to kick the ball through the upright goal in the
middle of the field. If successful, the try at goal is worth two points. The other way that rugby
teams can earn points is through field goals. This is earned any time a player kicks the ball
through the uprights of the opponent. This can happen from open play or on a penalty, and is
worth one point.
Rugby is played on a large field and the players wear little equipment. There is no mandatory
protective equipment, despite the high level of contact in the game. Some players do opt to wear
head gear or mouthguards, and also shin guards to protect against cleats.
There are a number of positions on the field, generally divided

Emergency Hysterectomy Case
The high acuity of patients in the ICU makes the risks of patient harm higher. Patients have
decreased physiological reserves, so any harmful events become exponentially worse as compared
to more stable patients. Therefore, reporting changes of a patient s condition is a vital part of
ensuring the rendering of proper care. When nurses fail to report critical lab values and vital signs
in a timely manner, the patient can suffer long term effects or may even die.
In one such case, a new mother had an emergency hysterectomy in an attempt to control post
partum bleeding after the cesarean delivery of twins. The healthcare team transferred the patient to

Recommendations by the Nurses Service Organization (NSO) on how to manage these risks
include timely and regular communication with providers, as well as following up when there are
delays in treatments. Another issue that contributed to the patient s outcome was the lack of
cooperation shown by the physician when the nurse requested that he come to assess the patient. To
mitigate this risk, the NSO recommends thorough documentation of all communications with
practitioners, as well as following the nursing chain of command when there is a substantial
concern for patient welfare and a delay in practitioner response (Failure to report.,

A Qualitative Analysis
One issue that sports have been facing recently is that of doping. The article A qualitative analysis
of the experiences of elite athletes who have admitted to doping for performance enhancement ,
published in the International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics, by Kate Kirby, Aidan Moran,
and Suzanne Guerin, provides insight as to the motives of athletes who dope, as well as what may
help to deter doping in athletes. Kirby, Moran, and Guerin chose to look at athletes who had
previously participated in doping. They wanted to look at possible reasons for the athletes doping,
how that doping affected them socially, and the effectiveness of doping discouragements. Five elite

al s 2011 article, as it shows the negative effects that doping can have on the careers of athletes if
they are discovered. It demonstrates that the athletes who dope are generally not allowed to
participate in their sports again. It also shows that thousands of athletes were willing to dope,
despite knowing that if they were caught, the consequences could include being banned from
their sports and having their source of income be taken away. This may demonstrate, as was said
in Kirby et. al s article (2011), that consequences such as ban from a sport may not be very
effective anti doping methods. It may be more beneficial to make known the consequences such
as loss of friendship and respect of the general public to dissuade athletes from doping. The
research of Kirby et. al (2011) did point towards the moral issues of doping being more of a
deterrent to athletes. One possible reason that so many of the Russian athletes agreed to participate
in doping could be that the government was playing a role these athletes were not only feeling
pressured to succeed for their own sense of accomplishment, and for the reason of not letting down
any team mates, but were feeling the pressure to succeed from more powerful positions, such as
coaches, medical professionals, and the

My Book Retell I Have Chosen The Hobbit By J.k. R. Tolkien
For My book retell I have chosen The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It takes place in the
fictional land of Middle Earth, where Elves and dwarves roamed the lands and much darker
creatures too, such as Trolls and Goblins. Our tale starts off like this. In a hole in the ground,
there lives a Hobbit . Hobbits are a simple folk who rarely wander beyond their little town of
Baggend. They are no taller than a human child, but they eat like giants. They love eating so much,
they have seven meals a day. Breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner
and supper. They have a mop of curly hair on there head and big furry feet. That brings us to the
main protagonist, Bilbo Baggins. Throughout the story he is accompanied by Thirteen dwarves,
lead by Thorin Oakenshield, and the wizard, Gandalf the Grey. There are many antagonists in this
story including goblins, trolls, elves, and even humans, but the main conflict is with Smaug, the fire
breathing dragon, who has stolen Thorin s kingdom.
Hobbits in Baggend rarely have anything close to an adventure, since they would have to leave
the comfort of their warm hobbit hole. Bilbo Baggins, never in his wildest dreams, would find
himself hunting dragons next to dwarves and wizards. However, one day, while he was smoking
his pipe of tobacco, he heard a knock on his gate. It was Gandalf. He wondered if Bilbo wanted to
take part in an adventure. Bilbo quickly urged the wizard away saying he wanted nothing to do

The Topic Of Farming And Poverty
Writing commentary
I decided to write an article for the readers of a sophisticated scientific based magazine on the
topic of farming and poverty. As the problem of world hunger becomes more and more apparent
I wanted to write an article for what I believe is the solution to the problem. My aim was to
inform and persuade the readers to agree with my view that intensive farming is better than free
range farming. By all means, there were restrictions and bias to my argument, so in the end I
decided to make it a one sided piece. I intended my article for a more sophisticated audience who
will have at least some knowledge on the topic of poverty and farming. However, I knew that I
would cause disagreements with the readers as people have ... Show more content on

The reader may be convinced to think that the article is written by an expert on the subject, so, it
may encourage the reader to agree with me. However, my article argues strongly for one side of
the argument; my view is against those of the general public, most of which have a false belief
that free range products are better than intensive. Therefore, to support my point I included a
large photograph showing the vile conditions in a free range farm. Using this may help me to
get the reader on my side. I chose this specific picture because it demonstrates a wide variety of
senses; you can almost smell the overwhelming stench of the faeces and hear the deafening cluck
of a thousand chickens. The right side of the picture is very dark compared to the left, this could
suggest to the reader that there are dark sides to free range farming as well as the bright side that
is often advertised. The light at the end of the farm also makes the farm seem endless, and
therefore, it would seem as if there were millions of chickens all crammed into the cages. This
may encourage the reader to dislike free range farming and more likely to support my view.
I knew that the introduction had to be important; I tried to make it as engaging, appealing and
shocking as I could. In order to engage my readers, I started the article with two rhetorical question
asking the reader for their opinions on the picture. One of which is: What do you think this picture
shows? , the use of personal

Effects Of Legalization Of Cannabisbis
Moreover, legalization of cannabis can address some of the negative social consequences related to
the black market for cannabis which include, ... Unsafe environments created by the illegal
distribution of the drug and the negative consequences of criminal labeling for possession of small
amounts of marijuana (Hajizadeh, 2016, p. 6). In addition, the legalization of cannabiscan also
reduce the stigma associated with the substance which would make it more socially acceptable.
By rendering this substance more acceptable, it would reduce the negative mental health impacts
associated with having a criminal record. For example, a person with a criminal record may not
be accepted in society because of the stigma and labels associated with criminals, which can lead
to feelings of isolation a sense of not belonging. These feelings of social isolation can lead to
depression and anxiety, which would be significantly reduced by the legalization of cannabis.
Although the legalization would benefit society, a societal acceptance of cannabis use would also
carry risks as well. A reduction or elimination of stigma associated with cannabis use may entice
more people to try the substance. Although adults can use the substance in a low risk manner, there
are more health concerns related to cannabis use in youth since their brains are not fully developed
(CCSA, 2007, p. 17). Cognitive development becomes more rapid during teenage years; there are

As the daughter of an attorney who often expressed a strong preference for his sons, she made

Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Displeased with the prejudiced attitudes towards women and fueled by her

she still devoted a great amount of time and dedication towards her family, she worked to establish

No matter how experienced one is with compiling and analyzing research, it continues to be an

rewarding experiences of a researcher s career. When preparing my paper on the evolution of the

Crosses carried out with Drosophila melanogaster can be used to determine mechanisms that
modify ratios of Mendelian inheritance, such as autosomal dominant and recessive inheritance,
genetic linkage, and epistasis. To identify the eye color phenotypes of two unknowns (U3 and U4),
crosses were carried out between the unknowns and flies with known eye color mutations (sepia,
white, cinnabar, scarlet, brown, and vermillion) and the F1 generations were observed. Thin layer

Eloquent Feelings And Safe Places
Eloquent Feelings and Safe Places Stephen Dunn s poems makes sure to let the reader stop and
think, and as a creative writing teacher he knows how to do just that. Winner of awards such as the
Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, The James Wright Prize ,and the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary
Achievement , his work The Sacred , published back in 1989, shows off his literary genius in
normal experiences and captures the vehement thoughtin his writing that has captured many hearts
of the readers. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it
means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an
escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic
ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add
a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man
who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions
are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with .
The enjambment that pushes through the whole poem create a string of consciousness feeling, as if
a person in the class is slightly nervous to share his response. In the beginning of the poem, Dunn
shows how much this student takes his

Electrical Engineering Statement
Statement of Purpose Electrical Engineering
Introduction The potential to create exceptional, innovative products through the use of electrical
engineering and embedded systems have always fascinated me. From the miniaturized circuit
boards in smartphones and tablet PCs to the large scale embedded electronics used in aerospace
systems (Bozzano, Cimatti, Katoen, et. al., 2011) electrical engineering has long fascinated me.
One of the most significant factors that led to my passion for this subject is the revolution that
is occurring in the areas of mobile processors, avionics and aerospace systems, where embedded
systems are critical to the navigational integrity of the vehicle. This revolution in embedded
systems is also leading to an entirely new era of performance in avionics and deep space
exploration, which promises to deliver insights never learned before from previous technologies
(Kadayif, Kandemir, 2005). Due to all of these factors I am extremely interested in electrical
engineering and pursing it a graduate degree in this academic discipline .
Growth in Engineering Years At an early age I had an affinity for understanding how various
elements of a system interacted with each other, in addition to understanding how the components
of computer systems could be redesigned to increase performance and compatibility across other
systems. This area fascinated me and I quickly started studying how integrated components could
be made part of broader embedded

When is it appropriate to use the observation method to conduct research on subjects? Clearly, a
number of questions that researchers want or need to address relating to human behaviors or
actions cannot be addressed or answered by traditional research methods. One of the best ways to

The Problem Of A Program Funding For Public Services
There is a crisis in California today creating a stalemate in decision making and solving of any
problems the state faces. There are so many problems and so many solutions, that no progress
can be made properly without conflicting interestests and opinions pausing any headway that
might have been made. Most people believe that California is stuck where it is because of rules
and regulations that are great on their own, but terrible when combined. The result of this crisis
is a downwards spiral towards lower funding for public services and a seemingly insurmountable
problem with budgeting. Some changes have been made to help the budget, but they still aren t
enough due to the many elements that cause this crisis to be so complicated. The element that
causes a program funding to go down is the fact that a two thirds majority is required for any
increase in taxes to occur. This is with every member, not just those that are present and voting.
While in the past, this has not posed as great of a problem, currenty the majority of the
Republican Party are against any tax increases, creating a deadlock where no tax can be increased
due to no way to get a two thirds majority in a vote. The problem with the lack of tax increase,
though, is that the burden of the state budgeting crisis ends up effecting lower income residents that
rely on public services. In 2012, a Democratic supermajority of seats were won, meaning they could
finally raise taxes wihtout any Republican support.

Cahokia Before Columbus
Forsberg, Sybil Honors History 2B Mr. Miraya 27 August 2016 America Before Columbus
Cahokia existed long before Columbus came to America, but few Americans have learned about
this ancient city. Cahokia s problem is that American history, in the minds of many, started just 500
years ago, back when Columbus discovered the New World (Lord and Burke 1). Similar to the
majority of Americans, I was not aware that America was inhabited before Columbus journey. It
was surprising to learn that so many Natives had populated the continent. The Europeans that came
on the second journey to the New World were misguided on many parts. They were mislead into
thinking that the land they found had never been civilized. They were very wrong more than

Our Group Formation By Frank H. Bouldin
Our group formation was initiated around two weeks before the tipping point project was
assigned. Dylan Thorpe had just presented his personal project, a remote controlled P 51 based
off of the historic P 51 named Dallas Doll that was flown by Frank H. Bouldin. At the end of the
school day Dylan gave a demonstration flight for his R/C, around one hundred and fifty people
came to watch the ten minute long flight. The following Monday while he was riding home on
the bus he realized how he could adapt his personal project into a tipping point project. He
brought up his idea with Kyran McLeod, a fellow R/C pilot whose personal project had been an R
/C quadcopter. Kyran had attended Dylan s demonstration flight the week before, helping out with...

Any other option would take time to plan and put into practice, time that we would not be able to
spare if we were going to gather data and then complete the three requirements of the Tipping Point
project on time.
After we were informed that the project would require a second option we decided that selling
papercraft models would be a possibility. The problem with the papercraft models being that they
take a large amount of time to create and they re relatively valueless to the market of high school
scholars in which they would be distributed. The high schoolers that would be in our market
most likley aren t very interested in paper aircraft models. As stated in Gladwell s book The
Tipping Point, The messenger matters: messengers are what makes something spread. But the
content of the message matters too. (Gladwell, 92). We figured that remote controlled aircraft
would be significantly stickier than small paper aircraft. A second problem would be the cost of
producing the models, not only would it take a new sheet of paper per model, it would also use a
large amount of toner, a resource that isn t exactly cheap.
We decided that the success of their project would be measured by the amount of people who
came to watch the show. David would use a counting tool to measure this variable, then we would
use this data to decide whether or not people lost interest in the airshows over time, or if it

The Creature s Narrative In Frankenstein, By Mary Shelly
The Creature s narrative in Frankenstein , by Mary Shelly, reveals an array of information
about the Creature as a character, and his true intentions. This narrative gives us an in depth
view of the Creature s life and experiences up and until this point in the novel. The Creature s
desire for a companion reveals and conveys a variety of romantic characteristics. His request for
a companion is not only justified, but is also Victor s responsibility to him. Victor s
abandonment of the Creature forced him to live a confused and lonely life as an outcast, and
because of this it is Victor s duty to right his wrongs. The Creature s narrative begins at the
moment he awoke, and continues up until the moment he frames Justine for the murder of
William. The creature describes how he learned all that he knew from his travels and experiences.
He explains how he learned that fire provides warmth, but is painful to touch, that food is better
when cooked, and that men not only fear him, but are violent towards him. During his early days
he is almost like a child learningthings for the first time, except he has no parent to guide him on the

Contributions Of Louisa May Alcott
Good books, like good friends, are few and chosen; the more select, the more enjoyable Louisa
May Alcott. There are so many novels that have changed American literature because of their
authors. One of which is Louisa May Alcott. Examples of her work consist of Little Women,
Hospital Sketches, Little Men, and so many more. These novels all have their own personal
story and genre. Although Alcott was raised in poverty, she proved to be an incredibly inspiring
American author because of her realism and the variety of her writing. May Alcott was a
passionate, driven lady that was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, on November 29th, 1832.
Her family and friends consisted of, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Theodore
Parker (Louisa 1). These wise, educated men were Alcott s mentors growing up. She looked up
to them for their knowledge of academics. She, herself, was educated by her father, Amos Alcott
until 1848 (Louisa 1). She got some of her inspiration for her writing growing up. Some
influences of her writing came from being ...a nurse during the Civil War (Kellman 39). This
tramatic experience gave her audience a unique perspective and it also helped the story seem
sensible. Her audience felt like they were actually at war because of her talent in writing literature.
Also, her experiences with poverty provided not only content and substance of much of her later
writing.. (Kellman 40). These experiences shaped and molded her writing to be supremely

The Cost Of Gas Prices
Oil is one of the most valued products in the world which means oil can be very inelastic. It is
something that people need in order for them to keep their cars going and for many other
reasons in this world. When the cost of gas drops down, the usual consumer s response is
positive, however, that might not be the case for some producers in the market. The lower cost
of gas means that people will be able to save money which is exactly what any consumers would
want in the market. Specific consumers who benefit the most from cheap oil are working and
middle class people who spend an unbalanced amount of their money on gas to fill up their cars
and to heat their homes. As a result of cheap oil, the amount of money that people will save can
now go to expenses like buying a new car, purchasing new electronics, traveling elsewhere, or
even as small as going out to a nice dinner (p.34). All these results will cause a hotel boom, a
restaurant boom, and labor shortages that will increase wages (p.36). However, with the
positive side of cheap gas comes the negative side as well. The effect of cheap gas on producers
is not the same as the effect that it has on consumers in the market. The decrease in oil prices are
pressuring gas producers responsible for the domestic energy boom. Also, when prices of barrel
drops significantly, the activity in the shale basins is not very profitable which means drilling of
oil has to come to a stop (p.35). This will cause an unemployment of people who

Forced Sterilization On Women During The United States
Forced sterilization on women
In the United States, 15 states have laws that fail to protect women with disabilities from
involuntary sterilization (Against her will). Sterilization of disabled women in the United States
should not be allowed. It denies disabled women the rights of having children. It is sexist to force
women to get sterilized but men do not have to get sterilized. Women should have the right to have
children, no matter if they have a disability or if something is wrong with her. The United States
has used forced sterilization along with other countries in North and South America, along with

reproductive rights and have access to full range of acceptable reproductive health service (Forced

restriction bills were proposed in Kansas as part of the eugenics movement. Although they were

the popularity of eugenic ideals. (University of Vermont...Kansas). Dr. F. Hoyt Pilcher performed

Compare And Contrast Ancient Rome And Christianity
Ancient Rome vs Christianity Ancient Rome and Christianity experienced many similarities and
differences throughout their time. Because the Roman World began their religion multiple years
before Christianity began to erupt, therefore Christianity was persecuted by the Roman World. The
Roman World based their religion off gods and goddesses while Christianitywas based off of Jesus
and his crucifixion on the cross for our sins. These religions share different but in some way similar
purposes, virtue, and destiny. The Romans began their religion by believing that spirits took up

Jesus Christ is believed to be the son of God and is considered the human version of God.
Christianity also believes in the Holy Spirit, which is with us always in everything we do. The
Christian faith is based on the belief that Jesus was born in a manger of the virgin Mary. It is
believed that he lived a perfect life where he made no mistakes or sins. Jesus was believed to
have died on a cross for our sins while being spat upon and cursed with a crown of thorns upon
his head. Next, Jesus was buried in a tomb and rose from the dead three days later. Finally, Jesus
descended into heaven to be with his father once again. Christians believe that in order to
achieve eternal life you must accept Jesus into your life by believing that all this information is
true and you must ask for forgiveness of your sins. Christians believe that Jesus will return one
day to earth and will judge everyone and will take all Christians back to heaven with him to be
with his father God. Christianity began to take off in Ancient Rome because of St. Paul. Paul
began by creating churches in Asia Minor and Greece. He later began to take his teachings to
ancient Rome. The poor people in ancient Rome began to believe in Christianity first. Christianity
was illegal in Ancient Rome. If followers were caught by Rome they faced death for their actions.
Therefore, Christians had to meet in secret so they were not killed for their beliefs. In 313 AD the

attracting new business to the state. Explain why can this advantage be sustained when other states
will use a similar system in the future?
Answer: One big advantage for the state of Arkansas is that the product in offered is first of its
kind and as such has an edge over other states. As discussed in Answer 1, GeoStor which used by
private sector will offer incentives for these companies to relocate as opposed to states that do not
offer such services. As such competition will automatically be at a disadvantage. First time use4rs
of this system will have a competitive advantage as they become competitive necessities which
are required by every organization. Some of the examples are online package tracking, buying of
concert ticket and reserving seats for transport. 5. Can any GIS data be combined with GPS data?

Answer: Not all GIS data can be combined along with GPS data especially static GIS data.
It can be used by a company to portray GIS to about products, available at different locations,
discount on the product. This gives a static picture intended to get the customers coming in. For
this purpose GPS data is of little use. In majority of cases though, GIS is used along with GPS data

just a few examples of the deep understanding they had of the world around them. Neil Postman

The Civil War And The American War Essay
The war with the most death of Americans was not the World Wars, Cold War, Vietnam War or
Korean War, but the Civil War. The Civil War is one of the most monumental moments in the
United States that threaten the stability of the Union. The United States was split into two
opposing sides, the Union and the Confederates, with opposing ideas; Americans pinned against
one another in combat for their ideals and goals. The Civil War has multiple causes, but the most
renowned reason was the abolishment of slavery. With the conclusion of the Civil War and the
defeat of the Confederates, many efforts were made to establish the freedom of the slaves, such as
the Thirteenth Amendment of the Constitution, and the status of freedman. However, with the
discontent that was harbored in the former Confederates, white southerners [tried to]
reestablished civil authority in the former Confederate states in 1865 and 1866 ; this thus led to
the creation of the Black Codes ( Black Codes. History.com). The white southerners tried to
regain control over freed slaves, acquire cheap labor and establish white supremacy through the
Black Codes. The Black Code was mocking the efforts of the civil war since it recognized and
limited the rights established in the civil war for the freed slaves, and recreated the slave like
working environment before the civil war.
Looking closely at the Black Codes, it was compiled with numerous laws that either granted or
restricted the rights of the freed slaves.

Introduction
Canada s food safety system is globally recognized as one of the safest system, because we
believe food safety is the responsibility of everyone in the food environment. The Canadian Food
Inspection Agency (CFIA) is responsible for food safety at federal level. CFIA impose food safety
and nutritional standards set by Health Canada. Ministry of Health and Long Term Care
(MOHLTC) is responsible for protecting the health of Ontarians. Canadian government make every
effort to protect the population from health hazards and food borne illness. The Health Protection
and Promotion Act (HPPA) is the main piece of legislation outlining the important hazard reduction
steps. The HPPA authorizes the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) which are functional in
their individual protocol. The Food Safety Protocol, 2015 describe the specific requirements that
each health unit must follow in order to prevent and reduce foodborne illness. Each premises must
undergo a risk assessment that evaluate hazard and level of risk.
Regulation 562, under HPPA specifies board of health (BOH) to conduct inspection of food

This can improve the public safety and provide more reliable economical feature. Eventually, the

This SHM system was able to monitor the structural health of the bridge and provide reliable

Police Officers And Law Enforcement
Despite some police officers might use authority to frighten and approach others in any way they
like, there is still a great amount of officers that do live up to the standard to serve and protect

hostile situations. Policeofficers are sometimes required to use force that is not considered
excessive or the possibility of being accused or seen as brutality.
We can see that the media focuses greatly on these issues of appropriate extents of force and

The relationship with the community, groups with special interests, and also politics may play a
great portion in the configuration of these changes. Several centuries ago, common law was divided
into three special classifications: felony, treason, and misdemeanor. In those times felonies were
punishable by death. During the seventeenth century, when a police officer was conducting an
arrest, they were regulated to exercising deadly force as a last resort (Littlejohn, 1984). During the
nineteenth century, the same rule was still being enforced. The last resort rule began to diminish
towards the end of the nineteenth century. Currently police officers have other tools available that
allows them to resort to under different circumstances. Even though there are many different police
departments and different agencies, they are all pretty much guided under the same rules regarding
deadly force and it s use.
Annually, data concerning law enforcement is collected in a Uniform Crime Report, but it does
not gather information on recent acts a police officer can do (Burghart, 2014). Limited intelligence
is exposed about police violence. There are many real life situations that we have observed on the
news and in the media. The law demands that the federal government must accumulate data on
police shootings, but there is no obligation that a police department has to do so (Fisher, 2014). The

The objects will be ungrouped as seen in below screenshot. Ordering objects
In addition to aligning objects in Microsoft word documents, Word gives you the ability and
freedom to arrange objects in a specific order. The ordering is important when two or more objects
overlap because word determines which objects are in the front or the back.
Understanding levels
In a Microsoft word document, Objects are placed on different levels according to the order in
which they were inserted into a document. In the illustration below, if we move the wave s image
to the beginning of the document, it will cover up several or many of the text boxes. That is
because the image is currently on the highest or top level. We can also change its level to put it
behind the other objects. To change an object s level:
Select the object you want to move. In our illustration above, we ll select the image of the waves.
From the Format tab on the Home menu, click the Bring Forward or Send Backward command
to change the object s ordering by one level. In our illustration below, we ll select Send Backward.
The selected objects will be reordered according to our selection. In our illustration below, the
image is now behind the text on the left, but can be seen to still covering the shapes on the right.

Example Of Cooperative Learning
Cooperative learning is a very distinguished strategy in the educational world. Cooperative
learning is used by teachers to help children develop positive social behaviors. With this strategy,
children are able to work together so they can learn from one another. Although this strategy is all
about the children, teachers must make cooperative learning experiences structured to mirror
society s expectations and to encourage positive behavior outcomes for young children . For
example, if children are playing in the kitchen center, I would encourage them to pretend like they
re in a restaurant. Some children would be placing the orders and the others would be working at
the restaurant. I feel like this specific example would teach the children that are being the
customers to be patient and understanding with all employees. I also think that this example would
give the children who are the workers a better understanding of what happens in a restaurant. When
they re working in the kitchen, they will be able to see how hard it is to work in the food industry.
In turn, this would help them also become patient and understanding adults. In addition to
developing positive social behaviors, this strategy also helps children build self esteem and
promotes the acceptance of others. When children work with other children, they will be able to
connect and understand children are who different from them. Working with children who are
different from them will allow them to better

Coca Col Then And Now
Coca Cola: Then and Now
Comparison of Santa Claus v.s. Happiness
History of Advertising
Oksana Chernichenko
Humber College
The Coca Cola Company does a very successful job of creating their brand and marketing to their
specic audience. (Cinney, 2013) Coca cola started creating an audience through mentioning the
medicinal properties from drinking the soft drink. In the 1930 s the company moved from relying
on the pharmaceutical properties to changing the presence of Coca Cola in the family home.
(Gangadharan,
1999) Although the company did not create Santa Claus himself, Coke did create the prominent

One could travel from Canada, to the Philippines, and could nd the comfort of a Coca Cola easily
that recreates that feeling of something familiar. John Pemberton started Coca Cola in the 19th
Century as a patented medicine and was bought out by Asa Griggs Chandler who propelled
Coca Cola into a soft drink superstar throughout the decades. (Gangadharan, 1999) Coca Cola
has spent a large amount of time and money to associate themselves with pleasure. (Vara, 2014)
By taking a look at two very specic advertising campaigns from Coca Cola in dierent time periods
we explore the relation ship the brand makes with its customers. The personality the brand
grows is such a prominent voice but the two very dierent marketing campaigns stay true to that
voice, and the company stays relevant in the way it s shaped and grown throughout the course
of it s advertising. In the 1930 s Coca Cola reinvented Santa Claus for the world bringing families
together, then ash forward to 2013 where the world nds happiness with drinking a coke. From
two dierent time periods, two dierent worlds essentially; Coca Cola brings to the world the
feeling of feeling good. (Vara, 2014) Coca Cola is more than just a product or a soft drink: it s a
feeling. To create a feeling of comfort is one of the prominent goals for the company s brand;
however, the dierent time periods inuence how that personality was presented and whom it was
presented to.

An Analysis Of The Socialist Alternative
Quintessentially, we need to join all forces socialists, liberals, deep greens, trade unionists,
feminists, indigenous activists (Angus, p. 221) everyone who is willing to demand decisive
actions to stop greenhouse gas emissions protecting nature and ecological balance. The
ecological emergency is a great challenge for the renewal of a revised Marxists thought and a
break from the ideology of linear progress. Moreover, we need to translate the innate human
solidarity that happens in natural disasters or war time, Angus gives very good examples in merit
referring to Hurricane Katrina, (Angus, p.193), in everyday life, building a human solidarian
society that performs beyond self interest, as Michael Lebowitz describes in The socialist
Alternative (Angus, p. 193). The main problem is that we are running against time and sectarian
isolation of movements. (Angus, p.195) What are the goals of an ecological... Show more content

This is a very sad point for me, in this moment. Being a nontraditional foreign student, I had to
spend about one extra year in renewal classes (written English, calculus etc.) for which I have
reached the maximum ceiling of financial aid loans. Now I am facing the fact that I need to find
the funds to make it to graduation through a private student loan, which is denied to permanent
residents like me, unless a citizen co signs for it. My daughter is not eligible, although being a
citizen, because she is in graduate school herself. Many nontraditional students are in my same

educational debt to repay. And this point is just one of the problems of the educational system! (I

On March 11, 1862, Lincoln made the decision to remove McClellan as General in Chief, demoting
him to command only the Army of the Potomac. Chief of Staff, Peyton March, sent a telegram to
McClellan in refence to his orders and instructed him to speak first to Governor Dennison.
Suspicious of this message McClellan refused the invitation to Washington or to speak to Dennison.
Later, the General wrote to his wife that the rascals of Washington were after him again and that if
he could come out of this, he would never get himself in this position again. Because of this refusal,
he learned of his demotion via the National Intelligencer, a Washington newspaper. Although many

of Maryland After a series of skirmishes along the Blue Ridge Mountains, the two forces met at
Antietam on September 17, 1862. Federal intelligence told McClellan of Lee s plans and the
General took this in to this strategy. McClellan was successful in his defeat of Lee, but the
outcome was the single bloodiest day of the Civil War. Battle weary and bloodied, Lee called for a
time to bury the dead, and the Confederate Army retreated into Virginia under the cover of
darkness. With this retreat, Lincoln expected McClellan to give chase to the Confederate Army and
became frustrated when the General stated that his men needed to rest and refit. In early October,
Lincoln decided to visit McClellan at Antietam to express his frustration at the general s refusal to

Chicano School Failure Essay
The worst three plights that are discussed in Valencia s Chicano School Failure and Success are
language/cultural exclusion, teacher student interaction, and Chicano teaching force. Valencia
discusses how Chicano students have experienced persistent and persuasive language suppression
and cultural exclusion in the public schoolsystem (8). These laws and policies were instated, with
one purpose, to ensure the dominance of the English language and Anglo culture (Valencia 8).
White culture enforced this belief, that being bilingual and bicultural will create a threat to the
dominant white English speaking population. In addition, another adversity Chicano students faced
is the limited use of bilingual education(Valencia 9). In my own K 12 education, I saw... Show more

The erasure of your bilingualism and biculturalism is something that should not be eradicated from
our brains, instead learning English should just be another tool added to our tool kit. In addition to
language/cultural exclusion, teacher student interaction is also something that needs to be
improved. As mentioned by Valencia, teachers tend to treat different types of students different
(26). Teachers tend to hold lower expectations for Chicanos, due to the stereotypical notion that
Chicano students are less intelligent than white students. With that thought seeded within an
instructor s mind, the system is already flawed from the beginning. Certain individuals even believe
that there are undesirable traits attributed with your race (Valencia 26). With teacher s racist beliefs,
they will only further perpetuate the stereotype that Chicano students do not remotely compare to
white students. A Chicano teacher force is also needed. Role models are important in any child s
life, white or Chicano. It is important to note that Chicano students need role models that look like
them, so they can picture themselves in the near

Poor Kids Documentary Analysis
In the 2012 documentary Poor Kids, children living in the Quad Cities reflect on their lives in
poverty. Each story is different but similar in many ways. At the time of the film, there were
sixteen million children reported who were affected by poverty. The film also stated that one in
five children were living in poverty. With large quantities of children being affected by poverty, the
important to understand how these children are dealing with the factors of poverty.
Three different children; Brittany, Kaylie, and Jasmine as well their families were followed by
cameras through the hardships of poverty. These families slowly trickled their way into poverty.
For example, Brittany and Jasmin s families both suffered a blow to their main income which was
a major contribution to their lives in poverty. For these children and many like them, they do not
have the choice to escape poverty. Their parents are their main providers and are responsible to
supply a proper living environment such as shelter, food, and water. Children can not contribute
significant amounts of money to help their families survive. For example, Kaylie collects metal
cans around her neighborhood to receive two to five cents for each can, depending on ... Show more

Target In Roseville Analysis
For this field exercise I decided to go to the Target in Roseville. At that Target all of the personal
care products were all around the Pharmacy area, the thing there that took up the most space had
to either be the hair products/show products, which took up about six shelves or the makeup,
which took up about six to 8 shelves. Most of the products in this area seemed to be targeted
towards women, and there were very few genderneutral products. The person I interviewed for
the second part of the exercise was my roommate, I though that she would be a good person to
interview because we seem to have very different daily routines for getting ready. I was very
correct about that too, I had a lot more products than her and I had to buy a lot

Wonder Woman
15 October 2014
Wonder Woman Children always looking for a positive role model to have, and many end up
choosing superheroes they see in their favorite comic books or ones they have seen in the media.
Since children are so easily affected by things they see in their childhood, having discriminatory
elements in these influential characters may be problematic. The Wonder Woman Precedent:
Female (Super) Heroism on Trial written by Julie D. O Reilly, was published in the Journal of
American Culture in 2005. O Reilly is a professor of communication and women and gender at
Heidelberg University. In The Wonder Woman Precedent , she writes about the hardships that
female superheroes in the media must face that male superheroes do not go ... Show more content

To some, wonder woman is regarded as a feminist icon. However, O Reilly does not believe so
because of the submissive themes that her creator included in the comics.
Though Wonder Woman is one of the most popular female superheroes who seemed to be equal to
her male counterparts, she had to demonstrate if she was worthy enough to become a superhero
through set trials. Wonder Woman was not born into her title; she had to earn it unlike all the
male superheroes that came before and after her. Born Princess Diana from the Amazon, she had
to compete in a series of extremely difficult physical trials and once she proved her worth in a
final life or death challenge, the title of Wonder Woman was bestowed upon her. O Reilly gives
multiple examples in her article about the differences male and female superheroes have. For
instance, the popular Superman comics came out a few years earlier. Clark Kent s choice to fight
crime was never questioned or challenged. He did not have to prove his abilities to a higher
authority in order to become a superhero. He simply chose to wear a cape and enforce justice. O
Reilly explains, ...The resolution of heroic trials, in their various forms, differs significantly

A Research Study On Mutual Fund Essay
1.0 CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Introduction
A mutual fund and also known as unit trust can be defined as a form of collective investments that
allows the investors which have similar investment objectives to pool their funds to be invested in a
portfolio of securities or other assets. The fund managers will invest the pooled funds in the
portfolio fund, particularly include some assets like cash, bonds, deposits, stocks, commodities and
also properties parallel to the fund s objectives. Each investor owns shares, which represent a
portion of the holdings of the fund.
The mutual fund industry in Malaysia started as far back as 1959 with the advent of the Malayan
Unit Trust Limited, which was launched by a group of Australian investors. The development of the
industry did not take off until the 1980s after the launch of Amanah Saham Nasional (Barom,
2004). The Amanah Saham Nasional was initiated by the Malaysian Government to promote equity
ownership by the indigenous population. Aided by high and consistent economic growth since the
1990s, the mutual fund industry had grown exponentially until 1997, in which the East Asian
financial crisis (EAF) of 1997 brought a sudden halt to such a rapid development. After the EAF,
the Malaysian mutual fund trust industry has experienced a solid recovery. This can be reflected
in the number of management companies that steadily increased from 13 in the mid 1990s to 37 in
the early 2000s (Saad et al., 2010).
In line with the rapid growth of the

Compare And Contrast Samsung And Apple
When watching multiple commercials for comparable products, sometimes even back to back, they
can seem very different at first but upon closer inspection some can start to see their similarities.
Both Samsung and Apple are prominent phone makers, and most people either own one of their
phones, or know of them. While both companies have commercials that are both similar and
different from one another, even the ones that seem to be the most different have their ties that
make them more comparable than one may think. In Apple s commercial for the iPhone called
Barber, and Samsung s Galaxy S7 commercial featuring Lil Wayne, each has their own style in
presenting their product to potential viewers. Despite this they are both related in that they are both
featuring one specific feature for their products, have a lighthearted tone, a central focus, and a
quick pace. Making each one entertaining to watch, even multiple times. Both commercials are
overall good and when looking at the similarities, these are what make the commercials even
more so. Apple s commercial simply called, Barbers, begins with the ad showing a barbershop
from the outside, and quickly goes to the inside where a man is getting his hair cut. While
another guy is sitting in one of the chairs he decides to take out his iPhone to take a picture once
the man is done. The barber then decides to put this picture on the window of the shop. This
creates a snowball effect as more and more people are attracted to

Amelia Earhart was an experienced pilot. she was the first female pilot to fly across the atlantic ocean. That by itself is a very long flight for back then, but she wanted to step it up by flying across the whole world. (Crouch) Amelia Earhart disappeared on July 2, 1937. To this day nobody knows for sure what happened to her. Emirau Island, off Papua New Guinea, seems an unlikely place to find Earhart because it s far from the spot where her last radio transmissions occurred. Still, a U.S. Navy crew member in World War II told of being sent to the island and spotting a photo of Earhart tacked up in the hut of a local man. The photo showed Earhart standing with a Japanese military officer, a missionary and a young boy. The sailor alerted naval intelligence officers, who allegedly took the photo from the hut against the owner s wishes. The photo has never been found. Since Emirau Island had been a haven for Europeans stranded after a shipwreck in 1940, it s likely the photo contained a lookalike and not the real Amelia Earhart. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Violation Of Miranda Rights Mr. Knight s statements to officers in the patrol car cannot be suppressed for violation of Miranda rights because he was neither in custody not subjected to an interrogation. To suppress a statement under the Fifth Amendment for violation of Miranda rights, (1) the suspect must be in custody of law enforcement officials and (2) subjected to interrogation (3) without being first provided Miranda warnings. United States v. Brownlee, 454 F.3d 131, 4 (3d Cir. 2006) (citing Rhode Island v. Innis, 446 U.S. 291 (1980)). Here, the policeofficers that detained Mr. Knight are law enforcement officials; however, Mr. Knight was not in custody because he was stopped for a short and temporary amount of time, and the officers explicitly told him that he would be free to go after completing the traffic summons paperwork. Additionally, Mr. Knight s incriminating statements during his detention were not the product of an interrogation because they were voluntary and not reasonably foreseeable by Officer Davis. Consequently, Mr. Knight did not require a Miranda warning, meaning his incriminating statements in the patrol car cannot be suppressed under the Fifth Amendment. A.Mr. Knight was not in custody Mr. Knight was not in custody because he knew he could leave after he completed the traffic summons paperwork. It is an economic ideals to create a single trading block in which all factors of goods to flow freely. As it is one of the success stories in the EU s project where most major restriction on the free movement of goods have been removed. The availability of such derogation is a recognition that the need to ensure the creation and maintenance of the internal market, allowing state regulation and the aim of free movement of goods to be reconciled. Hence, ECJ has taken the stance that national rules must not be allowed state regulation to hinder the free movement of goods, as interpreting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the court usually finds that labelling provides the consumer with sufficient information and protection, and is a lesser hindrance to trade. The court held in Keck that these are generally not restrictions on imports, as long as they do not have a greater effect on imports than on domestic products. But Keck is criticised by many because even if selling arrangements do not have an unequal effect, they may still have the effect of hindering trade, by making marketing more difficult.Article 34 only applies insofar as measures affect imports. If states wish to burden domestic producers with heavy regulation this is a matter of purely national law. However in exceptional situations stricter regulation of domestic production may actually give it a reputational advantage and so be a hindrance to imports. These measures of equivalent effect (MEQRs) result in imports being reduced just as if there was in fact an explicit limit. First the MEQR produces its import reducing effects by a more or less indirect path. That can make causation difficult to establish. ECJ has dealt with this by drawing broad brush distinctions of convenience . Second problem is to decide whether article 34 is about combating rules with a protectionist effect, or about deregulating economic activity. These are measures which cannot be easily captured by the Cassis definition of a product rule or the Keck definition of a selling ... • 5. Compare And Contrast The Valley Of Ashes In The Great Gatsby Imagine a world where one side of the equator was filled with wealth, happiness, and content. Now imagine the other side of the equator filled with poverty, sadness, and death. These two completely opposing halves enhance each other s descriptions and make one think of each side more deeply about the concept. This same scenario is also present in one of America s favorite novels based upon the 1920s and the American dream. In F. Scott Fitzgeralds novel, The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald juxtaposes two contrasting places, the Valley of Ashes and New York City , using imagery to magnify the difference between reality and a fantasy, which is central to the meaning of the work. The Valley of Ashes is halfway between West Egg of Long Island and New York City. When one comes upon the Valley of Ashes, it is not what they see, but what they do not see: sunshine, colors, or a settling feeling. The Valley of Ashes is nothing but a dull location, filled with unsatisfied farmers, unsuccessful gardens, billowing smoke, and mounds of ashes that are prominent below the gray skies. Nick Carraway, the narrator of The Great Gatsby, describes the Valley of Ashes as ...a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens; where ashes take the forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke and, finally, with a transcendent effort, of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air (Fitzgerald 23). Fitzgerald describes this location as unpleasant for those who enter and it is seen as a vulnerable place due to the billboard of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg looking upon the location at all times. This descriptive quote foreshadows that something bad will occur in this area during the novel. As for New York City, in the novel it is defined as the perfect place to live life to the fullest and not have a care of the world. As a reader, it is expected to envision this city full of lights as a bright, restless, and colorful place. Nick Carraway depicts New York City as a ...city rising up across the river in white heaps and sugar lumps all built with a wish out of non olfactory money. • 6. The Rugby League Rugby is a team sport played on a field. There are three main forms of rugby rugby league, rugby union and sevens. This paper will focus primarily on elements that they have in common. For the first two forms, there are thirteen players on the field for each team. A game is eighty minutes long and is divided into two halves of continuous action. The objective of rugby is to carry an oblong ball down the field and across the opponent s goal line. This is the main scoring play, known as a try. A try is worth five points. In order to count for a try, the player must take the ball across the goal line and set it down on the ground. The point at which the ball is set down is used as the basis for the try at goal. This is a kicking play, and it follows a try. The team that scored the try attempts to kick the ball through the upright goal in the middle of the field. If successful, the try at goal is worth two points. The other way that rugby teams can earn points is through field goals. This is earned any time a player kicks the ball through the uprights of the opponent. This can happen from open play or on a penalty, and is worth one point. Rugby is played on a large field and the players wear little equipment. There is no mandatory protective equipment, despite the high level of contact in the game. Some players do opt to wear head gear or mouthguards, and also shin guards to protect against cleats. There are a number of positions on the field, generally divided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Patients have decreased physiological reserves, so any harmful events become exponentially worse as compared to more stable patients. Therefore, reporting changes of a patient s condition is a vital part of ensuring the rendering of proper care. When nurses fail to report critical lab values and vital signs in a timely manner, the patient can suffer long term effects or may even die. It demonstrates that the athletes who dope are generally not allowed to participate in their sports again. It also shows that thousands of athletes were willing to dope, despite knowing that if they were caught, the consequences could include being banned from their sports and having their source of income be taken away. This may demonstrate, as was said in Kirby et. al s article (2011), that consequences such as ban from a sport may not be very effective anti doping methods. It may be more beneficial to make known the consequences such as loss of friendship and respect of the general public to dissuade athletes from doping. The research of Kirby et. al (2011) did point towards the moral issues of doping being more of a deterrent to athletes. One possible reason that so many of the Russian athletes agreed to participate in doping could be that the government was playing a role these athletes were not only feeling pressured to succeed for their own sense of accomplishment, and for the reason of not letting down any team mates, but were feeling the pressure to succeed from more powerful positions, such as coaches, medical professionals, and the ... • 9. My Book Retell I Have Chosen The Hobbit By J.k. R. Tolkien For My book retell I have chosen The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It takes place in the fictional land of Middle Earth, where Elves and dwarves roamed the lands and much darker creatures too, such as Trolls and Goblins. Our tale starts off like this. In a hole in the ground, there lives a Hobbit . Hobbits are a simple folk who rarely wander beyond their little town of Baggend. They are no taller than a human child, but they eat like giants. They love eating so much, they have seven meals a day. Breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. They have a mop of curly hair on there head and big furry feet. That brings us to the main protagonist, Bilbo Baggins. Throughout the story he is accompanied by Thirteen dwarves, lead by Thorin Oakenshield, and the wizard, Gandalf the Grey. There are many antagonists in this story including goblins, trolls, elves, and even humans, but the main conflict is with Smaug, the fire breathing dragon, who has stolen Thorin s kingdom. Hobbits in Baggend rarely have anything close to an adventure, since they would have to leave the comfort of their warm hobbit hole. Bilbo Baggins, never in his wildest dreams, would find himself hunting dragons next to dwarves and wizards. However, one day, while he was smoking his pipe of tobacco, he heard a knock on his gate. It was Gandalf. He wondered if Bilbo wanted to take part in an adventure. Bilbo quickly urged the wizard away saying he wanted nothing to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Topic Of Farming And Poverty Writing commentary I decided to write an article for the readers of a sophisticated scientific based magazine on the topic of farming and poverty. As the problem of world hunger becomes more and more apparent I wanted to write an article for what I believe is the solution to the problem. My aim was to inform and persuade the readers to agree with my view that intensive farming is better than free range farming. By all means, there were restrictions and bias to my argument, so in the end I decided to make it a one sided piece. I intended my article for a more sophisticated audience who will have at least some knowledge on the topic of poverty and farming. The reader may be convinced to think that the article is written by an expert on the subject, so, it may encourage the reader to agree with me. However, my article argues strongly for one side of the argument; my view is against those of the general public, most of which have a false belief that free range products are better than intensive. Therefore, to support my point I included a large photograph showing the vile conditions in a free range farm. Using this may help me to get the reader on my side. I chose this specific picture because it demonstrates a wide variety of senses; you can almost smell the overwhelming stench of the faeces and hear the deafening cluck of a thousand chickens. The right side of the picture is very dark compared to the left, this could suggest to the reader that there are dark sides to free range farming as well as the bright side that is often advertised. The light at the end of the farm also makes the farm seem endless, and therefore, it would seem as if there were millions of chickens all crammed into the cages. This may encourage the reader to dislike free range farming and more likely to support my view. I knew that the introduction had to be important; I tried to make it as engaging, appealing and shocking as I could. In order to engage my readers, I started the article with two rhetorical question asking the reader for their opinions on the picture. One of which is: What do you think this picture shows? , the use of personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unsafe environments created by the illegal distribution of the drug and the negative consequences of criminal labeling for possession of small amounts of marijuana (Hajizadeh, 2016, p. 6). In addition, the legalization of cannabiscan also reduce the stigma associated with the substance which would make it more socially acceptable. By rendering this substance more acceptable, it would reduce the negative mental health impacts associated with having a criminal record. For example, a person with a criminal record may not be accepted in society because of the stigma and labels associated with criminals, which can lead to feelings of isolation a sense of not belonging. These feelings of social isolation can lead to depression and anxiety, which would be significantly reduced by the legalization of cannabis. Although the legalization would benefit society, a societal acceptance of cannabis use would also carry risks as well. A reduction or elimination of stigma associated with cannabis use may entice more people to try the substance. Although adults can use the substance in a low risk manner, there are more health concerns related to cannabis use in youth since their brains are not fully developed (CCSA, 2007, p. 17). • 18. Eloquent Feelings And Safe Places Eloquent Feelings and Safe Places Stephen Dunn s poems makes sure to let the reader stop and think, and as a creative writing teacher he knows how to do just that. Winner of awards such as the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, The James Wright Prize ,and the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary Achievement , his work The Sacred , published back in 1989, shows off his literary genius in normal experiences and captures the vehement thoughtin his writing that has captured many hearts of the readers. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with . The enjambment that pushes through the whole poem create a string of consciousness feeling, as if a person in the class is slightly nervous to share his response. One of the most significant factors that led to my passion for this subject is the revolution that is occurring in the areas of mobile processors, avionics and aerospace systems, where embedded systems are critical to the navigational integrity of the vehicle. This revolution in embedded systems is also leading to an entirely new era of performance in avionics and deep space exploration, which promises to deliver insights never learned before from previous technologies (Kadayif, Kandemir, 2005). Due to all of these factors I am extremely interested in electrical engineering and pursing it a graduate degree in this academic discipline . Growth in Engineering Years At an early age I had an affinity for understanding how various elements of a system interacted with each other, in addition to understanding how the components of computer systems could be redesigned to increase performance and compatibility across other systems. This area fascinated me and I quickly started studying how integrated components could be made part of broader embedded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. The Problem Of A Program Funding For Public Services There is a crisis in California today creating a stalemate in decision making and solving of any problems the state faces. There are so many problems and so many solutions, that no progress can be made properly without conflicting interestests and opinions pausing any headway that might have been made. Most people believe that California is stuck where it is because of rules and regulations that are great on their own, but terrible when combined. The result of this crisis is a downwards spiral towards lower funding for public services and a seemingly insurmountable problem with budgeting. Some changes have been made to help the budget, but they still aren t enough due to the many elements that cause this crisis to be so complicated. The element that causes a program funding to go down is the fact that a two thirds majority is required for any increase in taxes to occur. This is with every member, not just those that are present and voting. While in the past, this has not posed as great of a problem, currenty the majority of the Republican Party are against any tax increases, creating a deadlock where no tax can be increased due to no way to get a two thirds majority in a vote. The problem with the lack of tax increase, though, is that the burden of the state budgeting crisis ends up effecting lower income residents that rely on public services. In 2012, a Democratic supermajority of seats were won, meaning they could finally raise taxes wihtout any Republican support. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. The Cost Of Gas Prices Oil is one of the most valued products in the world which means oil can be very inelastic. It is something that people need in order for them to keep their cars going and for many other reasons in this world. When the cost of gas drops down, the usual consumer s response is positive, however, that might not be the case for some producers in the market. The lower cost of gas means that people will be able to save money which is exactly what any consumers would want in the market. Specific consumers who benefit the most from cheap oil are working and middle class people who spend an unbalanced amount of their money on gas to fill up their cars and to heat their homes. As a result of cheap oil, the amount of money that people will save can now go to expenses like buying a new car, purchasing new electronics, traveling elsewhere, or even as small as going out to a nice dinner (p.34). All these results will cause a hotel boom, a restaurant boom, and labor shortages that will increase wages (p.36). However, with the positive side of cheap gas comes the negative side as well. The effect of cheap gas on producers is not the same as the effect that it has on consumers in the market. The decrease in oil prices are pressuring gas producers responsible for the domestic energy boom. Also, when prices of barrel drops significantly, the activity in the shale basins is not very profitable which means drilling of oil has to come to a stop (p.35). The Civil War is one of the most monumental moments in the United States that threaten the stability of the Union. The United States was split into two opposing sides, the Union and the Confederates, with opposing ideas; Americans pinned against one another in combat for their ideals and goals. The Civil War has multiple causes, but the most renowned reason was the abolishment of slavery. With the conclusion of the Civil War and the defeat of the Confederates, many efforts were made to establish the freedom of the slaves, such as the Thirteenth Amendment of the Constitution, and the status of freedman. However, with the discontent that was harbored in the former Confederates, white southerners [tried to] reestablished civil authority in the former Confederate states in 1865 and 1866 ; this thus led to the creation of the Black Codes ( Black Codes. • 42. Example Of Cooperative Learning Cooperative learning is a very distinguished strategy in the educational world. Cooperative learning is used by teachers to help children develop positive social behaviors. With this strategy, children are able to work together so they can learn from one another. Although this strategy is all about the children, teachers must make cooperative learning experiences structured to mirror society s expectations and to encourage positive behavior outcomes for young children . For example, if children are playing in the kitchen center, I would encourage them to pretend like they re in a restaurant. Some children would be placing the orders and the others would be working at the restaurant. I feel like this specific example would teach the children that are being the customers to be patient and understanding with all employees. I also think that this example would give the children who are the workers a better understanding of what happens in a restaurant. When they re working in the kitchen, they will be able to see how hard it is to work in the food industry. In turn, this would help them also become patient and understanding adults. In addition to developing positive social behaviors, this strategy also helps children build self esteem and promotes the acceptance of others. When children work with other children, they will be able to connect and understand children are who different from them. Valencia discusses how Chicano students have experienced persistent and persuasive language suppression and cultural exclusion in the public schoolsystem (8). These laws and policies were instated, with one purpose, to ensure the dominance of the English language and Anglo culture (Valencia 8). Teachers tend to hold lower expectations for Chicanos, due to the stereotypical notion that Chicano students are less intelligent than white students. With that thought seeded within an instructor s mind, the system is already flawed from the beginning. Certain individuals even believe that there are undesirable traits attributed with your race (Valencia 26). • 52. A Research Study On Mutual Fund Essay 1.0 CHAPTER ONE 1.1 Introduction A mutual fund and also known as unit trust can be defined as a form of collective investments that allows the investors which have similar investment objectives to pool their funds to be invested in a portfolio of securities or other assets. The fund managers will invest the pooled funds in the portfolio fund, particularly include some assets like cash, bonds, deposits, stocks, commodities and also properties parallel to the fund s objectives. Each investor owns shares, which represent a portion of the holdings of the fund. The mutual fund industry in Malaysia started as far back as 1959 with the advent of the Malayan Unit Trust Limited, which was launched by a group of Australian investors. The development of the industry did not take off until the 1980s after the launch of Amanah Saham Nasional (Barom, 2004). The Amanah Saham Nasional was initiated by the Malaysian Government to promote equity ownership by the indigenous population. Aided by high and consistent economic growth since the 1990s, the mutual fund industry had grown exponentially until 1997, in which the East Asian financial crisis (EAF) of 1997 brought a sudden halt to such a rapid development. After the EAF, the Malaysian mutual fund trust industry has experienced a solid recovery. This can be reflected in the number of management companies that steadily increased from 13 in the mid 1990s to 37 in the early 2000s (Saad et al., 2010). In line with the rapid growth of the ...
