What Is Rawls Definition Of Justice
Rawls definition of justice differs from Aristotle s definition. According to Aristotle, justice is viewed
as the condition when a person follows the law and is fair. Justice often times deals with money and
honor. Specifically, he defines two types of justice distributive and reciprocity. Distributive justice
means that the amount of wealth a person has is directly related to the person s merit. While,
reciprocity justice means that if there is disproportional ratio of gains and deficits, there will be a
balance to even out the disproportional aspect of this kind of justice. For example, if a man is cheated
by another man and loses money, he can go to court to fight his case and there will be a judge who
decides. While, Rawls definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previously, silent comedy films would poke fun at the lower class and because of the nature of not
having any sound; it depicted the lower class as barbaric and country bumpkin. However, with sound,
the films were able to depict the realistic differences caused by class because it was no longer just
funny movements. There was substance. Trading Places also depicted the class status of the different
characters. When the film first introduced Valentine, he was physically shorter than the rest of the
actors, (because he pretended to have no legs to gain sympathy for money), to depict that he is from a
lower class. His clothes were also not as crisp as the wealthy people s. He was not in a suit and tie.
When Valentine was led into his new home, he kept putting things in his pocket because he did not
believe that the home was his. When we see the Duke Brothers being introduced, they are sitting a
room filled of fancy books and furniture. They also spoke in an exaggerated snobbish tone to depict
their wealth off backgrounds. Another thing is that when they panned into the club that the men were
in, it was mostly filled with other white men from other Ivy leagues. The help who bought them the
tea was a person of color. The film depicted the different class statuses in the very introduction of the
movie. Although, it may have appeared exaggerated with the snobbish tone of voice, the truth is that
some people do talk like that, but not as severe. Beach s argument is clearly conveyed in Trading

Life Of Pi Faith Essay
Faith in Life of Pi Surviving at sea is a matter of brains and brawns. A quick wit and smart thinking
can get you a long way, but if there is no will to continue, to live, all hope is lost. When Pi lost
everything he loved in a matter of minutes, adrift at sea, he is left with a hodgepodge of animals. Yet,
what calls on him relentlessly is not the need for survival, but the necessity for faith. Faith that he will
be rescued soon, faith in his abilities, and, most importantly, faith in Richard Parker. He musters up
the determination to endure and convinces himself of what he has to fight for. As soon as the ship

Softball Magical Run Through SCAC Tournament Comes to Close
SAN ANTONIO, Texas The Ladies may have come up short in a bid to win the Southern Collegiate

Fifth seeded Centenary (23 22) knocked out sixth seeded Schreiner (9 31) 4 2 and third seeded Dallas
(21 23) 9 0 before falling to top seeded Texas Lutheran (41 3) 10 2 in six innings in the second day of

Gender Stereotypes Of Women In Game Of Thrones
The creators of the blockbuster HBO series Game of Thrones clearly relish in challenging gender
stereotypes of women in the United States. Set in a fictional medieval time period, the world of Game
of Thrones is divided into 4 landmasses, but much of the series takes place in Westeros and Essos. The
main plot line centers on the leading characters fighting one another to gain power and control of the
Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya Stark, challenges all female stereotypes with her unique
fighting skills and warrior like abilities to put up with anything that gets in her way.
Arya Stark is the diminutive and youngest daughter of Lady Catelyn and Lord Eddard Stark of House
Stark of Winterfell, the rulers of the North. Arya rejects the impression that she must grow up to be a
lady with proper etiquette and marry for influence and power. She believes she can create a different
path for her life as she is riveted by warfare and swordplay and bored with gossip, jewelry and other
lady like activities. Whereas many TV shows depict Shill 2 women as sensitive and weak, Game of
Thornes turns away from these traditional stereotypes and depicts Arya Stark as a true warrior who
uses her grit, intuitiveness and fighting abilities to outsmart almost anyone in the series.
In the opening scene of Game of Thrones, Arya Stark and her sister Sansa Stark are knitting a quilt in
a classroom full of women. The camera pans to Arya s face which basically says it all, she has no

The Inherent Ethical Dilemma Of A Company
The inherent ethical dilemma that presents itself in this case is whether or not it is ethical to cut
corners to make a profit. The management is aware of the issue, yet continues to allow the defective
drives to be sold in order to attempt to appease the company s new CEO. Is it ethical for a company to
sell a defective product in order to avoid loss?
The obvious IT component that lends itself to the circumstances of this case takes the form of the
defective Hard Drives. However, there are many other possible IT components playing a role in the
background. Such components would include an inventory management system and a defect
management system, alongside App and Database servers respectively to allow these systems to
function properly. Other IT components at work may include a CRM system for ensuring customer
satisfaction, a POS system, possibly including hardware such as scanners for sales and returns.
Desktops and laptops may also be in use by employees of the company, as well as an Intranet and
Extranet to share and access information on those machines.
One critical stakeholder in the case is the CEO of PrimeDrive, Mr. Stokes. An important right for him
as the head of the company is the right to use his business to generate a profit and run the business as
he sees fit. Another stakeholder are the managers of PrimeDrive, who have the right to manage their
departments as they envisioned. The consumers are also a critical stakeholder who have the right to

Mythrus was a builder and engineer. His tribe s genetic specialization endowed them with the innate

Behavior Modification Plan For Ourselves
When I first learned that we were doing a behavior modification plan for ourselves I did not know
what to think. After having it explained to me I knew that it had to be something related to my stress
and anxiety levels. My entire life it has been something that has hindered me from getting outside of
my comfort zone to better myself. So I started from there and had to figure out a way to measure my
stresses in numbers. I wasn t sure how I was supposed to mathematically lay out what gives me stress.
Our awesome teacher then asked me what it was that I did to relieve stress. I told her that I like guns
and going to the shooting range. From there I was off and running. My goal was to go to the shooting
range to help manage my stress levels. My first sub goal was to schedule times twice a week to go to
the range. I decided that I would go on Tuesdays and Fridays after work. I researched local shooting
ranges in my area and determined that Fletcher Arms in Waukesha was the best bet for me based on
price and location. Another sub goal that I gave myself was to find all my information by September
10, 2015 which I was able to accomplish. That was easy to accomplish but not all of my planning paid
off for me at first. There were a couple of issues that I ran into during the semester that were not
significant; but they were things that I needed to figure out in order to be successful. When road
blocks get in the way it is sometimes difficult to want to continue. I

Pants On Fire Analysis
On September 10th, Katie Sanders from PunditFact and former writer from Politifact Florida gave a
speech at the Bob Graham Center titled Pants on Fire: Misinformation in American Politics. The talk
and subsequent Q A centered on the perpetuation of misinformation that is experienced in
contemporary American politics as well as what journalists and common people alike can do to
combat it. Though these were the focal points, three related tangents were my main takeaway from the
experience. During the talk, a statement transported me to the previous week s discussion on Burgis
and Collier. Sanders opened by stating it is important to challenge every statement we read and take
nothing as true until it is verified information. It seemed not only true of American politics (though it
is an essential attitude to maintain when exploring this realm) but of all fields, especially political
science. Many academics argue about whether quantitative data is the apex of research or ... Show

Research Paper On William Carey India
William Carey spent his years as a missionary in the country of India, arriving first in Calcutta, then
relocating to Serampore. Over 100 years before Carey stepped foot on the ground of India, Job
Charnok chose the place of Calcutta, India to be a place for a British trade settlement. Job Charnok
was an agent of the East India Company. He spent a plethora of time searching for the best place for
the site. This site was the perfect spot because it was protected by the Hooghly River on the west side,
a creek to the north, and two and a half miles to the east there were salt lakes. There were also three
large villages that were also owned by the British. The emperor of India at that time granted the

In 1800, Carey started the Serampore Mission Press. This press was a huge accomplishment in his life.
He was then able to use this press to publish the Bengali prose, as well as print countless Bibles in
multiple different languages for the people of India. This included the Bengali translation of the Bible,
which Carey reformed from its fallen state into the most prominent language of the region. He was
then able to use this Bible that he published in order to spread the gospel even farther into the crevices
of India. This was not the only translation that the Mission Press was able to publish. Between 1801
and 1832 the press printed 212,000 copies of books in 40 different languages. Even though that was a
huge accomplishment, it was seen as a passive role in the culture. Only people of higher standards of
living like landlords and businessmen, were able to seize the opportunity for higher education for their
children. They sent their children to the schools of the missionaries. On the other side of the spectrum,
people from the lower classes were unable to send their children to those schools. They sent them to
the monitorial schools around them, which is basically provided a basic education for the students.
During this same time, the Serampore Mission Press bought out the English Daily, which was a
newspaper in that area.

U.s. Democracy And Canadian Democracy
In the contemporary world, democracy is one of the most progressive system of government that
states freedom as a core value. Democracy is based on the free expression of people s opinions, points
of view as well as their opposition to the government actions. Citizens have a great control over the
political events taking place in their country because through the elections they can select the right
candidate who will be able to represent their interests. Core values of the democracy such as freedom,
equality, pursuit of happiness are similar in different countries. However, the implementation of
democracies may vary. USA and Canada are two big and prosperous countries that can be a prime
example of how democracies may vary despite all the similarities. There are three major differences
between US democracy and Canadian democracy such as consensus or in other words substantive
goals of political actions, checks and balances or how do different branches of government work, and
the last but not least federalism in regards to the division of power between federal government and
territorial entities. The first and the most important difference between US and Canadian democracy is
consensus. The initial word consensus means general agreement. In terms of politics, consensus
means an agreement on the substantive goals of the country or in other words political program that
includes an implementation plan of the alternative solutions to the country s problems or threats.

Jack London s Build A Fire
Jack London s To Build a Fire
Introduction
To Build a Fireisa short story that is anchored on naturalist movement that was largely developed
towards the end of the 19th century. Some of the pioneers of this movement include; Edith Wharton,
Theodore Dreiser and Jack London. Themes encompasses under the movement are determinism
instead of free will; absence of morality, catapulted with survival and indifference in the environment;
instinct as opposed to intellectualism, and lower classes are depicted as equal characters. As such, the
narrative is anchored on settings and character of the language used to gauge an individual.
To Survive, You Need to Build a Fire , the title of the story is a conflicting instinct between man and
nature. London story brings out naturalism and indicates that if man does not collaborate with nature
he will not survive. As such, survival benefits are only possible if man s instinct does not seek to
benefit him with his surroundings. In light of this, the preoccupation of an individual in search of gold
will more likely result in a conflicting situation in a bid to survive. The question becomes, does human
action result from brute instincts with the nature he seeks to achieve from? This is wisely answered
through the intervention and counsel on how to perform actions in the nature for survival purpose such
as the Moby Dick by Herman Melville s. In the reference to Melville s narrative on how to hunt a
whale, the reader is equipped with skills on

Analysis Of Centennial Park Pond System
1. Introduction and objectives
Centennial Park has the largest freshwater wetland system in inner metropolitan area of Sydney. Its
ponds cover approximately 26 ha of area connected in a water flow system that acts as detention basin
for stormwater drainage during flood events (Centennial Parklands, ponds, 2016). Moreover, these
ponds provided the water as the Sydney s main source of drinking water from 1837. The park provides
an open area for families and kids to enjoy picnics and therefore the pond is required to maintain its
water quality and sustainable for the environment.
The report reviews the Centennial Park pond system; it acts as a performance around the outskirts of
the flood retention basin, and the report also reviews regarding full flood conservation and water
quality norm to find a potential problem in the system and is coming up with improvements.
2. Background
Flooding History: Historical records show that there were several flooding within the catchment
November 1984, January1991. For instance, driver Avenue was road flooded (Michael Wyk , 2016).
Water Pollution: From previous engineering reports, from early mid1990s, it was estimated that blue
green algal blooms occurred in most of the ponds in the Centennial Park over several years (Mal
Brown, 2012).Due to the accumulation of the nutrients in the Musgrave Pond from the storm water
inflow, the nutrient enriched the water in the pond (Mal Brown, 2012).

Mount Pilot Research Paper
Burnt Area of Mount Pilot
The Burnt Area of Mount Pilot contains mixed stands of competing, seedlings with slower growing
Callitris seedlings and re sprouting Eucalyptus trees. There is few Callitris endlicheri, as the species is
fire sensitive and often destroyed by fire, particularly when in quick succession. Prior to the 2003 fire
the site was dominated by Callitris species of tree. The seedlings that emerged were mostly
Eucalyptus, with less dense Callitris seedlings proving that the growth of Callitris is not consistent
with long term site suitability. Surprisingly, more Eucalyptus seedlings died in the first six years of
regeneration that Callitris seedlings; competition in co existence does not determine survivability. The
major trend is that the growth of Eucalyptus seedlings is faster than that of Callitris seedlings. The
density of Eucalyptus seedlings is shown to effect Callitris seedlings growth which thrives where
Eucalyptus seedlings are sparser. Callitris may take 7 15 years to produce sufficient seeds (Cohn,

Art In The Tempest
Art In Shakespeare s The Tempest Art in The Tempest is experienced in three different forms as
music, drama, and indeed, rhetoric. Moreover, magic is accepted as a form of art in the play. Various
characters manifest these three different forms for various purposes. However, the greatest one of
them all is Prospero s magic. While this magic is the element that makes the plot going in the first
place, drama intertwined with rhetoric is the actual art form behind Prospero s power.
Throughout the play, Prospero carries out a grand plan on the people who have betrayed him years
ago. This grand plan reminds the reader of a play, as if Prospero is assuming the role of a playwright
and the characters of The Tempest are the characters of his play. The island is his stage, and his cave
with his stuff is the backstage. However, he seems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sets his traitor brother up for a big face off, yet in the end he decides the rarer action is in virtue
than on vengeance (5.1.27), and doesn t complete his plans. At this point, it can be thought that the
story of this man who gives up his art is highly relevant with Shakespeare s own life as a playwright,
especially when the fact that The Tempest is the last play he wrote without someone else s
collaboration is taken into account. He holds the power of changing his characters fate in his hands as
a writer, but that doesn t change the fact that he may lose control of his art (be it magic or rhetoric)
from time to time. For instance, during the wedding scene of Miranda and Ferdinand (4.1.140), which
is another remarkable example for Prospero/playwright theory with all the spirit actors, Prospero is
seen to lose his focus and forget about the threat to his life. This incident can be interpreted as a

Red Plate Science Project
The hypothesis for this project is If the Effect of Preference of Colored Plates is green then, the
Amount of Cookies Eaten will increase. This project is based on the statement that a red plate can
warn the conscious to not eat the substance that is on that plate. The science fair project is going to try
to show that statement to be right. The project is interesting because of the science behind the
statement; that a person s conscious could relate a red plate to a stop sign, which is also red. The
person s conscious would then think of what to do at a stop sign and then, would feel cautious about
eating what is on the plate. The significance of this project is to actually test on how a person feels,

I would like to make an oversized throw quilt for my daughter as a birthday gift.
2.
a) choose a quilt pattern, b) decide on a color palette and fabric, c) cut out fabric pieces, d) sew
pieces together, add batting and quilt back, e) send to quilter, and f) bind quilt to finish.

In order to accomplish this project for my daughter I will need $205 to cover the costs of supplies and
quilter s fee. It will take approximately 18 hours for my labor and one hour for the quilters to finish
the quilt. The space in my schedule is limited and my daughter s birthday is four weeks away, so the
18 hours will be divided into 6 hours per weekend for a total of three weekends.

Girlfight Overcoming Gender Stereotypes
It goes without saying that a person s gender, racial and social origins influence their participation in
sports. Particular races and genders often dominate certain sports. African Americans, for example,
tend to dominate football and basketball, while Caucasians tend to dominate ice hockey. The same
holds true for gender as well. Football is an entirely male dominated sport, while horseback riding,
gymnastics and figure skating are much more female oriented. How and why did these divisions come
about? Determining the origin of gender goes beyond the scope of this paper, however one can
speculate about how gender classifications and stereotypes affect one s role in the sports arena.

Tiny is not just a clever name, he has a small build, is academically inclined and hopes to pursue art.
He has no interest whatsoever in learning boxing. Diana, on the other hand, has a large, sturdy build,
and a hot temper. It is Diana that defends her brother when another boxer takes advantage of him in
the ring.
Diana s relationship with Adrian is another form of tension between gender stereotypes in the film.
Boxing is traditionally a sport where men prove their manhood. They prove that they are categorically
the alpha male by defeating their opponents. Therefore, to have a woman, who should traditionally be
submissive and dutiful, step up to the ring turns everything that boxing stands for upside down. Much
of the movie centers on the conflicts that develop within their relationship because of this paradox. At
first it seems that Adrian is completely open to Diana s boxing. However his true beliefs are
challenged when he and Diana are forces to fight one another. Adrian has to struggle with his own
definitions of masculinity and femininity before he can come to terms not only with Diana s boxing
him, but also beating him.
In effect, Diana defies everything that is traditionally identified as male and female. In the end it is not
clear what happens to Diana; whether her relationship with Adrian is successful or whether her father
can finally accept Diana s boxing. However one still comes away from the movie feeling that she has

Concert Chamber Music Analysis
The concert Chamber Music by Two, Three and Four was made up of three different pieces. Each of
the three pieces were composed by, in order, W. A. Mozart, M. Ravel, and J. Brahms. Performing the
pieces were Alicia Eppinga on the cello, Barbara Corbato on the viola, Mark Clinton on the piano, and
Mihai Craioveanu on violin. These musicians performed sub sections within the pieces known as
movements, which brought their own sense of individuality to the piece while still creating a sense of
unity across the board.
The first piece consisted of piano, violin, and cello. In each of the movements, there were different
musical contexts and styles that lead to the creation of a story the different phases of life. As the entire
piece progressed, the tonality shifted from being very light hearted, energetic, and happy in the first
movement, to a calmer more relaxing mood in the second, to a more tense and high strung character in
the last. There were more noteworthy characteristics of the piece other than the shifts in tone. For
example, the piano seemed to remain the dominant instrument throughout the whole piece while the
violin and the cello accented it and added depth to the different movements creating a homophonic
texture. Throughout the second movement, the violin and cello mimicked the melodies of the piano
quite a bit as well. Tempos also varied according to the movement, contributing to their tones. Allegro

The Origin Of Life Terrestrial Or Extraterrestrial Essay
Introduction There is no one universally accepted paradigm for the origin of life. Rather, there are two
competing schools of thought that debate the question: Was the origin of life terrestrial or
extraterrestrial? Both of these theories recognize that life must have been synthesized under natural
conditions, that molecules organized themselves into the first molecular system, that atmospheric
oxygen and ozone were rare, and that electrical activity may have produced monomers. The scientific
and technological advancements that have emerged as a result of investigations into the origin of life
have profoundly impacted our society and our knowledge of life, space, and cosmochemistry. Early
Emergence of Cosmochemistry and Sociopolitical Hindrance The list of cosmic abundances was
compiled by Victor Goldschmidt in 1938 and concluded that Extraterrestrial material must also be
included to produce the most accurate and robust data (Citation). The template for life remained
unknown to society, so a broad approach to include both terrestrial and extraterrestrial sources was
imperative to the investigation into the origin of life. Unfortunately, the Great Depression diverted
society s attention towards surviving through the low living standards, so there was an overall
disinterest in anything scientific. Although World War II lifted society out of the Great Depression and
brought many scientific advancements related to warfare, no breakthroughs in interstellar science and

The Impact Of Facebook On The Campus Of Harvard University...
The story of Facebook begins on the campus of Harvard University. Whether the inspiration for the
site originated with Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendra or the founder and
current CEO Mark Zuckerberg is debatable. For the sake of thoroughness, the story will begin with
the Winklevoss. In 2003 the Winklevoss twins were seniors at Harvard University both majoring in
economics, together with fellow Harvard senior Divya Narendra they were searching for a web
designer to help them create a site to be titled HarvardConnections.com, according to the three they
had come up with this idea in their junior year at Harvard. The plan for HarvardConnections.com was
that it would be a networking site for Harvard students and alumni, users would be able to create
profiles, add friends, and send messages to one another (Zuckerberg often referred to it as a dating
site). Initially the Winklevoss twins and Narendra dictated the coding of their website to Sanjay G.
Mavinkurve but once he graduated and went on to work at Google they began to pay Victor Y. Gao to
code for them. Soon however, Gao also left the project but recommended that the three should contact
Mark Zuckerberg to replace him. Mark Zuckerberg originally from Dobbs Ferry, New York was a
sophomore student at Harvard at the time. Mark Zuckerberg, incidentally, was already a bit famous
among students at Harvard during the time because of his creation of Facemash. The website

Brett had good and bad qualities. She was not all bad. I personally would not pick her for a role model
but I will admit she had some admirable qualities. For example, the way she changed over the course
of the novel. At first she did not really care about anyone or anything but herself. Then she began to
realize what she did to people and she began to consider the feeling a of others as well as her own. If
her relationship with Pedro had occurred at the beginning of the novel, she probably would have given
no thought to what effects their relationship would have on him. However, by the end of the novel she
had gained the understanding to know that he should do what is right, put away her own feelings, and
leave him for his own good. She could be used as a role model because of her liberty. She is never tied

women used became scarce, and many women were forced to sell, or barter their personal property.

Self-Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Every day people make hundreds of choices. People do not realize how many choices they make in
one day. Those choices shape and conform people s lives whether they know it or not. Ralph Waldo
Emerson s essay Self Reliance shows how individuals should be self reliant in their own lives, not
being conformed by their community. Emerson acknowledges that self reliance is the key to
empowering one s self in a positive way. His essay Self Reliance , shows how distractions, like one s
personal community, can hinder one s self reliance; and conversely, how self confidence can improve
one s life. I believe individuals can achieve self reliance through their own choices, including
choosing who one surrounds himself or herself with to be without the community.
Self Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson is an ambiguous essay that portrays different concepts.
Emerson uses his own opinions as well as facts we see in everyday life to try and persuade his readers
to trust themselves and have self reliance. He includes many strong arguments and explains himself
thoroughly. This essay does not focus on earthly things; it focuses on how one views themselves
independently in the world. Emerson shows his readers that self reliance should be embraced
throughout yourself, others, and society.
In this essay Emerson proudly emphasizes how he believes that every person should have self
reliance. Emerson defines self reliance as reliance on one s self and not others; to not go along with
society but to follow their own trustworthiness and will. This means to believe in himself or herself
and not depend on others. It also means to take responsibility and to not imitate somebody else. One
of Emerson s quotes in this essay states, We imitate; and what is imitation but the travelling of the
mind? (17). He shows that societies members imitate each other. This should not be reality. Every
person can and should think for themselves. Emerson understands that the world is chaotic and calls
on individuals to make order of it. People should be united in society yet they should each take part in
their own way with their own thoughts.
Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. Accept the place the divine providence has found

our grammar is becoming worse because of abbreviations and more sloppiness. The internet has

Reasons For Gun Control
Gun control is one of the most important issues debated worldwide, but most importantly in the
United States. According to the Second Amendment in the Constitution, the citizens have the right to
bear arms, yet this has become an issue that has remained debatable for decades in congress meetings.
A recent event that dealt with gun control regulation is the Sandy Hook Shooting where the tragic
massacre in Newton, Conn. killed twenty children and eight adults including himself. I argue this
event, because it gave me prove for the need for more gun control.
I m for gun control, and the main reason weapon control should be in existence is, because on account
of without law saying something else, a firearm can be in anybody s hands. On the off ... Show more

In addition, it is dangerous for just anyone to have a gun, it is moreover loaded with risk for everyone
(arranged or not) to walk around, equipped, at all conditions. There have been serious incidents where
firearms were unexpectedly terminated, yet at the same time brought on a major issue when they did.
In a current review they have found that, instead of being utilized for self protection, firearms in the
house are 22 times more prone to be required in incidental shootings, manslaughters, or suicide
endeavors. The best claim that people who are unfriendly to gun control have is that it is taking
without end their rights to remain fight prepared as a part of the second change. (against gun control.)
A mistake that was made when the Second Amendment was made is that they gave people the right to
buy a gun without a single background check.
Taking everything into account, weapon control is vital for an ensured put for all. Without firearm
control, a weapon can get in the wrong hands. Also without foundation and medical checks, somebody
with mental issues can get a weapon. In general, having it too were for the most part anybody can get

Examples Of Melting Pot In America
Melting Pot in America
I have always this question in my mind is America really a melting pot, Does America even have their
own culture. To me the melting pot is different cultures being represented, it is kind of like you are
making food and in order for that food to be good you put ingredients to make it nice. That is what
America is, it is different cultures being shown making it such a unique country. I do not yet think
America has acknowledge diversity for example in the short story Lullaby the Native American and
Americans are separated from each other but yet they live near each other. Their culture is not being
shown but yet being taken away when the doctor takes her kids. So even though has so many cultures
they have only taken what they wanted and have even made some up to compensate for that.

real authentic culture. America had a good intention for the melting pot but it has not turn out good.
With the story Lullaby it was showing two cultures come together but one race that was had more
power than the other overtook the other. The story Lullaby is what I would say is happening right now
with the melting pot. And the story The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World is what America

Lord Raglan s Influence On The Battle Of Balaclava
Not though the soldier knew, someone had blundered. Thiers not to make reply, thiers not to reason

the courage of those who made a particular charge during the battle of Balaclava. This essay is to
address the Mission Command principles of Lord Raglan, and how as commander he influenced the
Battle of Balaclava. Lord Raglan s most notable impacts on the Battle of Balaclava was not building
subordinate commanders into a cohesive team, oversimplification of using mission orders, failure to
provide a clear commander s intent, and not creating a shared understanding. The Battle of Balaclava

This shows that investors were willing to pay more because of their increased confidence in the
company s future profits. Thus, share price increases from 0.17 to 24.22 times as more shareholders
invested in it but in 2014 2013, it decreases to 18.56 as the shareholders are making a loss in the NAV
ratio, thus pulling out their investment.
NAV Ratio (Net Asset Value Per Share)
2012: 0.38
2013: 0.70
2014: 0.90
The NAV ratio is drastically decreasing over the years, showing that the company is slowly becoming
more undervalued in 2013 to 2014. This shows that the shareholders are not earning their investment.
CONCLUSION
Due to Far East Orchid s declining profitability, the company turns to increasing its gearing ratio to
fund its financial and operational needs. This excessive increase in current assets results in the
company being too liquid, and its extreme increase of selling inventory caused its quick ratio to drop
below the recommended level. The inconsistent inventory turnover shows inefficiency in managing
their assets. And finally, this causes the company to be undervalued.
As seen from the above ratios, our recommendation would be not to invest in this company, as it is not
only making a loss of profits, but also going into debt to solve its low profit

William Shakespeare was one of England s most prominent author and amongst his ample works are

Islam was the second Methodism religion brought into the post 1492 Americans. African Muslims

Hip Hop with its rhythmic style has a direct influence from Blues music. Another influence we see
today is that of headgears such as du rags and bandanas, the Muslim slave population had a look of
turbans and head caps. It is astonishing that America has a trace of Islam in it, something that I would

Tattoos And Its Impact On Society
Having a moral acceptance toward others is an important aspect in sustaining a happy and fulfilled
life, but maybe some things that are quite visible can be hard to look past. Tattoos are one of the most
controversial topics when it comes to professionalism mixing with open mindedness. People all across
the world have tattoos and are now seen in everyday society. Tattoos have also gone back thousands of
years and in some cultures were celebrated, or shown for cultural reasons. Furthermore, the U.S.
military is now integrating new policies on tattoos, ensuring the domestication, and acceptance of
tattoos. Effects of tattoos on modern day society have had a definite impact. Not all people are aware,

Many stereotypes have latched onto the art form to make these appear negative, making it hard for
some people finding a job in certain expertise.
Despite tattoos becoming more accepted and mainstream in society, studies show that individuals with
visible tattoos are often hired at a lower rate than people without visible tattoos. A survey of current
undergraduate students reveals that students today are well aware that having a tattoo may adversely
impact their chances of being hired, but regardless of that knowledge almost half is still considering
getting tattooed. (Foltz, 2014).
Although, due to the effects tattoos have made on society, many jobs and businesses have become
open minded to these stereotypes that remain constant. Tattoos won t be fully accepted by everyone in
society, but with increasing the popularity, society is getting more used to seeing them as another form
of art and self expression.
In terms of tattoos on actual bodies, the earliest known examples were for a long time Egyptian and
were present on several female mummies dated to c. 2000 B.C. But following the more recent
discovery of the Iceman from the area of the Italian Austrian border in 1991 and his tattoo patterns,
this date has been pushed back a further thousand years when he was carbon dated at around 5,200

International Response To The Rwandan Genocide In The 20th...
Rwandan Genocide
Throughout the 20th century, numerous acts of genocides have attempted to bring the complete
elimination and devastation of large groups of people originating from various particular ethnicities.
With these genocides occurring in many regions of the world, the perpetrators often organizing such
crimes, have historically been larger and more powerful than the victims themselves. Often being the
government and its military forces. However, the lack of international response associated with these
genocides, further contributed to the devastating outcomes. On April 6,1994, the fastest killing spree
of the century took place in Rwanda against the Tutsi minority population. With many warning signs
having already been proclaimed prior to the start of the Rwandan genocide, I believe that with
international interference, this bloodshed could have ultimately been prevented.
Rwanda is a country located in Central Eastern Africa, with an extensive history of colonization, after
Belgium attained control in 1924. Belgium s rule however also marked the beginning of a lengthy
ethnic rivalry between the Hutu and the Tutsi people. Belgium favored the Tutsi the minority at 14
percent of the population over the Hutu, the majority at 85 percent, simply because the Tutsis were
more resembling of the Europeans. Colonial policy helped to intensify bipolar differentiation between
Tutsi and Hutu, by inscribing ethnic identification on identity cards, by relegating the vast majority of
Hutu to particularly onerous forms of forced cultivation and corvee, and by actively favoring Tutsi in
access to administrative posts, education, and jobs in the modern sector, (Newbury, 12). Belgium s
control fueled the Hutu s resentment towards the Tutsis because the Tutsis received superior treatment
for decades. Thus, when Rwanda finally acquired independence in 1962, the Hutus fought for control
over the government, highlighting the first warning sign of the genocide to come. Many Tutsis were
killed afterwards, while many others fled to neighboring countries to escape the violence.
The second warning sign appeared, in the spring of 1992, [when] the Belgian ambassador in Kigali,

Comparing The Cask Of Amontillado And A Rose For Emily
Comparative Analysis Short Story Essay
Both short stories The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe and A Rose for
Emily by William Faulkner highlights the issue of revenge and showcases the outcomes of mental
illness. In these stories, the main characters, Montresor and Emily, both suffer from mental illness,
which causes them later on in the story to lose their sense of humanity and commit murder. Both
Montresor and Emily believe that they have been wronged, and thus seek revenge on the ones who
have wronged them by murdering them. Not only do they both commit murder, but also they do so by
committing it through inhumane methods. Montresor murders his rival by burying him alive, and
Emily by poisoning and preserving her boyfriend s dead body. Both stories The Cask of Amontillado
and A Rose for Emily illustrate two mentally unstable characters who lose their sanity and commit
murder, revealing how the actions of people in the upper class, which were unchecked because of their
social status, result in the commission of reprehensible actions. In the story The Cask of Amontillado
both Montresor and Fortunato come from high social and prominent classes. In the beginning of the
story, one may assume that Montresor did not come from any prominent social class; ... Show more

Analysis Of Thomas Middleton s The Crucible
Analytical Research Paper
Thomas Middleton s, Women Beware Women and Arthur Miller s The Crucible, are both set in the
1600s a time when women did not have any rights. Although both stories are completely different
from each other, they share a common trait of bold, powerful women. In The Crucible, Abigail s
jealousy and desire to have revenge on Elizabeth Proctor has her manipulate everyone in the town of
Salem causing hysteria. Livia, the widow in Women Beware Women strategically manipulates every
person to turn their backs on each other which creates a tragedy. Abigail and Livia are the villains in
their community but how they acquire their power is very different. While Abigail s power comes
from her intense desire for revenge on a specific person and then spreads throughout the community,
Livia s motivation for power originates from her own boredom and desire for control on a large scale.
Both of these characters are nothing short of cynical. They are motivated by self interest and cannot be
trusted. Livia, is the sister to Hippolito and Fabritio and the aunt to Isabella. She is a wealthy woman
on her own but her life went down hill after losing two husbands. There is no question that she is the
essence of evil in Women Beware Women because she wants other people to be miserable as she once
was. In The Psychological Drama of Women Beware Women written by Charles A. Hallett, he says,
Cynicism is, in a sense, a mechanism developed by the unimaginative designed

According to Aristotle, justice is viewed as the condition when a person follows the law and is fair. Justice often times deals with money and honor. Specifically, he defines two types of justice distributive and reciprocity. Distributive justice means that the amount of wealth a person has is directly related to the person s merit. While, reciprocity justice means that if there is disproportional ratio of gains and deficits, there will be a balance to even out the disproportional aspect of this kind of justice. Trading Places also depicted the class status of the different characters. When the film first introduced Valentine, he was physically shorter than the rest of the actors, (because he pretended to have no legs to gain sympathy for money), to depict that he is from a lower class. His clothes were also not as crisp as the wealthy people s. He was not in a suit and tie. When Valentine was led into his new home, he kept putting things in his pocket because he did not believe that the home was his. When we see the Duke Brothers being introduced, they are sitting a room filled of fancy books and furniture. They also spoke in an exaggerated snobbish tone to depict their wealth off backgrounds. Another thing is that when they panned into the club that the men were in, it was mostly filled with other white men from other Ivy leagues. The help who bought them the tea was a person of color. The film depicted the different class statuses in the very introduction of the movie. Although, it may have appeared exaggerated with the snobbish tone of voice, the truth is that some people do talk like that, but not as severe. Beach s argument is clearly conveyed in Trading ... Set in a fictional medieval time period, the world of Game of Thrones is divided into 4 landmasses, but much of the series takes place in Westeros and Essos. The main plot line centers on the leading characters fighting one another to gain power and control of the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya Stark, challenges all female stereotypes with her unique fighting skills and warrior like abilities to put up with anything that gets in her way. Arya Stark is the diminutive and youngest daughter of Lady Catelyn and Lord Eddard Stark of House Stark of Winterfell, the rulers of the North. Arya rejects the impression that she must grow up to be a lady with proper etiquette and marry for influence and power. She believes she can create a different path for her life as she is riveted by warfare and swordplay and bored with gossip, jewelry and other lady like activities. Whereas many TV shows depict Shill 2 women as sensitive and weak, Game of Thornes turns away from these traditional stereotypes and depicts Arya Stark as a true warrior who uses her grit, intuitiveness and fighting abilities to outsmart almost anyone in the series. The management is aware of the issue, yet continues to allow the defective drives to be sold in order to attempt to appease the company s new CEO. Is it ethical for a company to sell a defective product in order to avoid loss? The obvious IT component that lends itself to the circumstances of this case takes the form of the defective Hard Drives. However, there are many other possible IT components playing a role in the background. Such components would include an inventory management system and a defect management system, alongside App and Database servers respectively to allow these systems to function properly. • 14. U.s. Democracy And Canadian Democracy In the contemporary world, democracy is one of the most progressive system of government that states freedom as a core value. Democracy is based on the free expression of people s opinions, points of view as well as their opposition to the government actions. Citizens have a great control over the political events taking place in their country because through the elections they can select the right candidate who will be able to represent their interests. Core values of the democracy such as freedom, equality, pursuit of happiness are similar in different countries. However, the implementation of democracies may vary. USA and Canada are two big and prosperous countries that can be a prime example of how democracies may vary despite all the similarities. There are three major differences between US democracy and Canadian democracy such as consensus or in other words substantive goals of political actions, checks and balances or how do different branches of government work, and the last but not least federalism in regards to the division of power between federal government and territorial entities. The first and the most important difference between US and Canadian democracy is consensus. The initial word consensus means general agreement. There is few Callitris endlicheri, as the species is fire sensitive and often destroyed by fire, particularly when in quick succession. Prior to the 2003 fire the site was dominated by Callitris species of tree. The seedlings that emerged were mostly Eucalyptus, with less dense Callitris seedlings proving that the growth of Callitris is not consistent with long term site suitability. Surprisingly, more Eucalyptus seedlings died in the first six years of regeneration that Callitris seedlings; competition in co existence does not determine survivability. The major trend is that the growth of Eucalyptus seedlings is faster than that of Callitris seedlings. Moreover, magic is accepted as a form of art in the play. Various characters manifest these three different forms for various purposes. However, the greatest one of them all is Prospero s magic. While this magic is the element that makes the plot going in the first place, drama intertwined with rhetoric is the actual art form behind Prospero s power. Throughout the play, Prospero carries out a grand plan on the people who have betrayed him years ago. Particular races and genders often dominate certain sports. African Americans, for example, tend to dominate football and basketball, while Caucasians tend to dominate ice hockey. The same holds true for gender as well. Football is an entirely male dominated sport, while horseback riding, gymnastics and figure skating are much more female oriented. How and why did these divisions come about? Determining the origin of gender goes beyond the scope of this paper, however one can speculate about how gender classifications and stereotypes affect one s role in the sports arena. The ... Diana s relationship with Adrian is another form of tension between gender stereotypes in the film. Boxing is traditionally a sport where men prove their manhood. They prove that they are categorically the alpha male by defeating their opponents. Therefore, to have a woman, who should traditionally be submissive and dutiful, step up to the ring turns everything that boxing stands for upside down. Much of the movie centers on the conflicts that develop within their relationship because of this paradox. At first it seems that Adrian is completely open to Diana s boxing. However his true beliefs are challenged when he and Diana are forces to fight one another. Adrian has to struggle with his own definitions of masculinity and femininity before he can come to terms not only with Diana s boxing him, but also beating him. In effect, Diana defies everything that is traditionally identified as male and female. In the end it is not clear what happens to Diana; whether her relationship with Adrian is successful or whether her father can finally accept Diana s boxing. These musicians performed sub sections within the pieces known as movements, which brought their own sense of individuality to the piece while still creating a sense of unity across the board. The first piece consisted of piano, violin, and cello. In each of the movements, there were different musical contexts and styles that lead to the creation of a story the different phases of life. As the entire piece progressed, the tonality shifted from being very light hearted, energetic, and happy in the first movement, to a calmer more relaxing mood in the second, to a more tense and high strung character in the last. There were more noteworthy characteristics of the piece other than the shifts in tone. For example, the piano seemed to remain the dominant instrument throughout the whole piece while the violin and the cello accented it and added depth to the different movements creating a homophonic texture. Throughout the second movement, the violin and cello mimicked the melodies of the piano quite a bit as well. Tempos also varied according to the movement, contributing to their tones. • 29. The Origin Of Life Terrestrial Or Extraterrestrial Essay Introduction There is no one universally accepted paradigm for the origin of life. Rather, there are two competing schools of thought that debate the question: Was the origin of life terrestrial or extraterrestrial? Both of these theories recognize that life must have been synthesized under natural conditions, that molecules organized themselves into the first molecular system, that atmospheric oxygen and ozone were rare, and that electrical activity may have produced monomers. The scientific and technological advancements that have emerged as a result of investigations into the origin of life have profoundly impacted our society and our knowledge of life, space, and cosmochemistry. Early Emergence of Cosmochemistry and Sociopolitical Hindrance The list of cosmic abundances was compiled by Victor Goldschmidt in 1938 and concluded that Extraterrestrial material must also be included to produce the most accurate and robust data (Citation). The template for life remained unknown to society, so a broad approach to include both terrestrial and extraterrestrial sources was imperative to the investigation into the origin of life. Unfortunately, the Great Depression diverted society s attention towards surviving through the low living standards, so there was an overall disinterest in anything scientific. Although World War II lifted society out of the Great Depression and brought many scientific advancements related to warfare, no breakthroughs in interstellar science and ... For the sake of thoroughness, the story will begin with the Winklevoss. In 2003 the Winklevoss twins were seniors at Harvard University both majoring in economics, together with fellow Harvard senior Divya Narendra they were searching for a web designer to help them create a site to be titled HarvardConnections.com, according to the three they had come up with this idea in their junior year at Harvard. The plan for HarvardConnections.com was that it would be a networking site for Harvard students and alumni, users would be able to create profiles, add friends, and send messages to one another (Zuckerberg often referred to it as a dating site). Initially the Winklevoss twins and Narendra dictated the coding of their website to Sanjay G. Mavinkurve but once he graduated and went on to work at Google they began to pay Victor Y. Gao to code for them. Soon however, Gao also left the project but recommended that the three should contact Mark Zuckerberg to replace him. • 34. Self-Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Every day people make hundreds of choices. People do not realize how many choices they make in one day. Those choices shape and conform people s lives whether they know it or not. Ralph Waldo Emerson s essay Self Reliance shows how individuals should be self reliant in their own lives, not being conformed by their community. Emerson acknowledges that self reliance is the key to empowering one s self in a positive way. His essay Self Reliance , shows how distractions, like one s personal community, can hinder one s self reliance; and conversely, how self confidence can improve one s life. I believe individuals can achieve self reliance through their own choices, including choosing who one surrounds himself or herself with to be without the community. Self Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson is an ambiguous essay that portrays different concepts. Emerson uses his own opinions as well as facts we see in everyday life to try and persuade his readers to trust themselves and have self reliance. He includes many strong arguments and explains himself thoroughly. This essay does not focus on earthly things; it focuses on how one views themselves independently in the world. Emerson shows his readers that self reliance should be embraced throughout yourself, others, and society. In this essay Emerson proudly emphasizes how he believes that every person should have self reliance. Emerson defines self reliance as reliance on one s self and not others; to not go along with society but to follow their own trustworthiness and will. This means to believe in himself or herself and not depend on others. It also means to take responsibility and to not imitate somebody else. One of Emerson s quotes in this essay states, We imitate; and what is imitation but the travelling of the mind? (17). He shows that societies members imitate each other. This should not be reality. Every person can and should think for themselves. Emerson understands that the world is chaotic and calls on individuals to make order of it. People should be united in society yet they should each take part in their own way with their own thoughts. Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. Another influence we see today is that of headgears such as du rags and bandanas, the Muslim slave population had a look of turbans and head caps. It is astonishing that America has a trace of Islam in it, something that I would have never guessed. Many stereotypes have latched onto the art form to make these appear negative, making it hard for some people finding a job in certain expertise. Despite tattoos becoming more accepted and mainstream in society, studies show that individuals with visible tattoos are often hired at a lower rate than people without visible tattoos. A survey of current undergraduate students reveals that students today are well aware that having a tattoo may adversely impact their chances of being hired, but regardless of that knowledge almost half is still considering getting tattooed. (Foltz, 2014). Although, due to the effects tattoos have made on society, many jobs and businesses have become open minded to these stereotypes that remain constant. Tattoos won t be fully accepted by everyone in society, but with increasing the popularity, society is getting more used to seeing them as another form of art and self expression. In terms of tattoos on actual bodies, the earliest known examples were for a long time Egyptian and were present on several female mummies dated to c. 2000 B.C. • 48. International Response To The Rwandan Genocide In The 20th... Rwandan Genocide Throughout the 20th century, numerous acts of genocides have attempted to bring the complete elimination and devastation of large groups of people originating from various particular ethnicities. With these genocides occurring in many regions of the world, the perpetrators often organizing such crimes, have historically been larger and more powerful than the victims themselves. Often being the government and its military forces. However, the lack of international response associated with these genocides, further contributed to the devastating outcomes. On April 6,1994, the fastest killing spree of the century took place in Rwanda against the Tutsi minority population. With many warning signs having already been proclaimed prior to the start of the Rwandan genocide, I believe that with international interference, this bloodshed could have ultimately been prevented. Rwanda is a country located in Central Eastern Africa, with an extensive history of colonization, after Belgium attained control in 1924. Belgium s rule however also marked the beginning of a lengthy ethnic rivalry between the Hutu and the Tutsi people. Belgium favored the Tutsi the minority at 14 percent of the population over the Hutu, the majority at 85 percent, simply because the Tutsis were more resembling of the Europeans. Colonial policy helped to intensify bipolar differentiation between Tutsi and Hutu, by inscribing ethnic identification on identity cards, by relegating the vast majority of Hutu to particularly onerous forms of forced cultivation and corvee, and by actively favoring Tutsi in access to administrative posts, education, and jobs in the modern sector, (Newbury, 12). Belgium s control fueled the Hutu s resentment towards the Tutsis because the Tutsis received superior treatment for decades. Thus, when Rwanda finally acquired independence in 1962, the Hutus fought for control over the government, highlighting the first warning sign of the genocide to come. Many Tutsis were killed afterwards, while many others fled to neighboring countries to escape the violence. The second warning sign appeared, in the spring of 1992, [when] the Belgian ambassador in Kigali, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Analysis Of Thomas Middleton s The Crucible Analytical Research Paper Thomas Middleton s, Women Beware Women and Arthur Miller s The Crucible, are both set in the 1600s a time when women did not have any rights. Although both stories are completely different from each other, they share a common trait of bold, powerful women. In The Crucible, Abigail s jealousy and desire to have revenge on Elizabeth Proctor has her manipulate everyone in the town of Salem causing hysteria. Livia, the widow in Women Beware Women strategically manipulates every person to turn their backs on each other which creates a tragedy. Abigail and Livia are the villains in their community but how they acquire their power is very different. While Abigail s power comes from her intense desire for revenge on a specific person and then spreads throughout the community, Livia s motivation for power originates from her own boredom and desire for control on a large scale. Both of these characters are nothing short of cynical. They are motivated by self interest and cannot be trusted. Livia, is the sister to Hippolito and Fabritio and the aunt to Isabella. She is a wealthy woman on her own but her life went down hill after losing two husbands. There is no question that she is the essence of evil in Women Beware Women because she wants other people to be miserable as she once was. In The Psychological Drama of Women Beware Women written by Charles A. Hallett, he says, Cynicism is, in a sense, a mechanism developed by the unimaginative designed ...
