Trusts
If trust does not meet test of certainty it will fail/be void
If trust to be valid must meet three certainties: (Knight v Knight)
Certainty of intention
Certainty of subject matter
Certainty of objects/beneficiaries
Fundamental principle: the trust must be capable of being controlled + enforced
There must be sufficient practical certainty in [the trust s] definition for it to be carried out, if
necessary with the administrative assistance of the court, according to the expressed intention of
the settlor (Lord Wilberforce in McPhail v Doulton (1970))
There is a trust instrument, intentions of settler must be sufficiently certain to carry out the trust,
otherwise trustee s or court would not know what to do. Sometimes can be some ... Show more

Q was whether was certainty of subject matter as problem was whether shares were identified
they are identifiable as each share has a number. Courts said was a valid trust regardless of fact
that M did not state which shares were on hold for H.
Pearson v Lehman Brothers (2010): adopted same principle.
A beneficiary s interest in a certain part of the trust property in older cases judges were more strict:
Boyce v Boyce (1849): testatrix left 4 houses on trust. Trust said one trust to go to Maria other 3
to charlotte. Trust said Maria to choose which one she wanted. Maria died before the testator +
trust came into effect + court said M no longer alive so cannot est. which houses C entitled to as
under the trust she has what is left after M picks, but she died so trust VOID.
Modern approach = more willing to uphold trust: Re Golay s WT (1965): testator left one flat +
reasonable income from his estate courts held not absolutely certain as not state what flat + what
income, but said not so uncertain that cannot est. which should go to whom.
Certainty of Objects
= Broadly include certainty of beneficiaries + power of objects
What is meant by certainty in this context?
Conceptual or semantic certainty = certainty in the meaning of the expression of wording used in
trust instrument. Is the meaning precise in the class that they define?
Consider: first cousins (precise in meaning, no

Philippine American War Essay
Philippine American War In the past centuries, colonialism has been a country s way of gaining
great amounts of wealth and cheap labor. The idea of colonialism has been heavily controversial, in
terms of today s standards. In the United States of America, Americans were also against this idea,
since they also have been under the harsh rule of the British empire. However, after the Spanish
American war ended in 1898 through the Treaty of Paris, the US government decided to own the
colonies that have been ceded by the Spanish. This decision marked the turning point in American
history because it violated their constitution and redefined what it means to be the upholders of
democracy. In one of the acquired colonies, the Philippines expected ultimate independence instead
of a change of colonial power. This allowed conflict to mount between the two countries, which
prompted the Filipinos to stage a revolt against the Americans. Unfortunately, because of the U.S.
government s dedication to establish its sovereignty over the islands, the desire of the Filipinos to
gain their independence, and the economic implications of the islands towards America, the two
countries were unable to form a compromise leading to the Philippine American War. This resulted
to the death of more than 250,000 Filipinos and 4,200 U.S. troops. Ironically, this ugly encounter
between the Americans and the Filipinos brought peace and strong relations after the war that last
until today. The Philippines

Introduction Of The Movie Avatar
Introduction:
The film Avatar (italics on titles plus remove the bold writing on your paragraphs and remove all
the planning above when you submit the final) directed by James Cameron is the story of Jake
Sully; the man who is asked to take the place of his twin brothers place at Pandora for a scientific
experiment. At the start he was very hesitant toward taking his brothers (apostrophe) place, there
were times when he felt like not continuing with the program. Along the way he faced a series on
tests, allies and enemies. The end result is what he was starting to want near the end of the
movie.(the more formal term is film)
Body:
When he was first called to the mission he had moments of refusal because it was a scientific
task and he was in the marine prior to this, therefore he was used to going in all guns blazing
rather than trying to figure it out scientifically and appreciating who they are and what their land
means to them. Other people were not accepting of him, due to his paralysis, causing him to be in
a wheelchair. There is evidence of this when someone from the army side says to their friend that
he is meals on wheels .
Later in the movie, once Jake had figured out that the avatars are nice and that the army shouldn t
(avoid contraction should not) be destroying their land, he starts to refuse orders from Kernell (the
army leader). Kernell was demanding that he told him important things (be precise what are these
important thing exactly?) about the avatars so it would be easier to destroy them, but jake could
keep changing from an avatar to a human, so when he came back to the human life he would
usually start to fill Kernell in on what happened but near the end he stopped telling him so he
could save the avatars. He realised that the avatars were actually really nice and approving of him
after a while.
Where can you include the how? In other words, the cinematic technique, for instance full shots
capture Jake interacting with The colonel or a close up shot reveals the moment Jake realises that
the Na vi people need to be respected
During the 2 hours and 42 minutes Jake faced a series of multiple tests, allies, and enemies. He
was within a bad (avoid using bad and focus on

Grades Are Not The Key
Grades are Not the Key I remember the first time that a grading rubric was attached to a piece of
writing for a grade; I was no longer exploring for me. I want to get that back. Will I ever get that
back? Said Claire, a student a student that goes to Olson University.(Alfiekohn.org) What she is
trying to say is that she feels that all the fun, purpose, and learning experience is being taken out of
because the rubric is commanding and telling her what to do. Grades may deprive students of their
willingness to work and do not matter much because they do not affectyour life in the long run, it
can cause students to be stressed out, and make it a more positive environment if grades were
taken out of the school system. Many people believe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This applies to the future for other for other jobs and schools as well. Grades do not affect your life
in the long run. A studentthat may learn nothing yet get a high score on their quiz or test, versus
someone who learns a lot but gets a low grade and unfortunately, colleges will not know any of
this. Some students may even have test anxiety, making them do bad on test. Around 40 60% of
students suffer from test anxiety.(healthycentral.org) So, around half of students have a chance of
doing poorly on a test despite learning a lot. Colleges may not know this part either; they also do
not know how much blood, sweat, and tears a student has put into the 12 14 grades before college.
Many amazing learning experiences do not even come from school. Then, if a student does not use
that information in school, they may think that it is useless learning information out of school.
They may not even think this until they graduate. Recent graduates, a student with a college
reputation, a high GPA, and courses are shown at the bottom of the list when applying for a
job.(theatlantic.com) So remember, a couple bad grades will not land you a job at McDonald s for
the rest of your life, and experiences. Though, for students who do not believe this, will it just cause
them stress? Grades can cause students to not work to their highest potential. Student should be
focused on the learning material being given to them by their teachers and not the grade they get
from cramming the night

The TRACE Model
The TRACE model accounts for WF effects as studies have found that participants gaze at
words presented prior and after LF words for a longer duration than the words surrounding the
HF words (Rayner Duffy, 1986). Thus, as the model encompasses top down and bottom up
processing (McClelland Elman, 1986), quicker responses may be induced for HF words, as when
individuals read LF words they may analyse surrounding words to assess the context of the text,
which consequently slows them down. Whereas, this process is not necessarily required for HF
words, due to the familiarity of the context the words are used in.
Furthermore, the TRACE model accounts for WS effects as exemplified by Williams and Gaffney
(1985) as eight participants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the model s flexibility and universality allows a greater applicability to these effects and
variations, such as developmental disorders that can impact them. accurately in a string of letters
when presented in an actual word, compared to a non word or a single isolated letter (Baron, 2014).
Thus, as both models only incorporate bottom up processing, which is more useful when processing
individual letters (Starrfelt, Petersen, Vangkilde, 2013), they cannot account for WS as it would be
difficult to efficiently detect letters within words.
However, the TRACE model by McClelland and Elman (1986) accounts for both effects as it is an
interactive processing model whereby visual and auditory inputs are interpreted by their features,
before progressing to either the letter or phenome level and subsequently advancing to the word
level to retrieve suitable candidates, as shown in Figure 2.
The Logogen model accounts for word frequency (WF) effects, which is based on the premise that
high frequency (HF) words are used more regularly so they are easier to recognise than low
frequency (LF) words that are used scarcely (Murrell Morton, 1974). Rayner and Duffy (1986)
illustrate this as participants fixated and gazed longer at LF words compared to HF words,
potentially as infrequent words are not easily accessed within the lexicon. Consequently, as a
Logogen has to reach a specific threshold to be activated, HF words are stimulated quicker than LF

Surrealism and Femininity
Surrealism and femininity A2098336 Introduction Surrealism is type of cultural movement that
came into being in 1920s and it is renowned for the visual artworks and writings. The main aim of
the emergence of surrealism was to get a solution to what was a previously contradictory condition
between dream and reality. Artists painted illogical, unnerving scenes that had photographic
precession. They also created strange creatures from the objects that existed everyday. They were
also able to develop techniques in painting which allowed what was not conscious to express itself.
The work of surrealists features elements like surprise, juxtapositions that are unexpected and non
sequitur. On the other hand many surrealist artists and writers term their work as being an
expression of philosophical movement in the first place and their work being artifacts. History of
surrealism The work surrel was coined by an art critic and poet Guillaume Apollinaire. Upon his
death another artist Andre Breton published a manifesto of Surrealism in 1924.in this manifesto he
describe surrealism as attempting to transmute the two states that seem contradictory which are
dream and reality into a kind of reality that is absolute which is of surreality. When people think of
Surrealism they think of Salvador Dali and memory persistence.an important think to note is that
since its emergence surrealism as global particularly as early surrealists existence such as Andre
Breton and Marcel Duchamp used

Unknown Vs Evil In Frankenstein
One of the many themes in James Whale s 1931 film Frankenstein is that of the known vs the
unknown or good vs evil. Whale uses the motif of fire as a powerful extension of what the good
can do to the darkness. Fire is used as a way to keep the Monster or the evil representation of the
film in isolation and outside of the known world and also as a way to show that the known or
good will always win against the unknown or evil.
Known vs unknown or good vs evil falls into the category of a knowledge narrative according to
Andrew Tudor. Tudor says that the narrative itself functions by proposing the existence of a body of
knowledge capable of mediating between these domains of known and unknown (83). The first
distinct moment where there is realization of the darkness/unknown trying to seep into the world of
the light/known is when Henry Frankenstein says that his monster has only been kept in complete
darkness and to wait until [he] brings him into the light (30:30 30:35). After his speech the
Monster walks into the room and Frankenstein closes the light as if to wait for the right moment
to bring him into light or the world of the known. When the Monster finally sits down on a chair,
Frankenstein opens the window on the roof to reveal the sunlight (32:07). Once the sunlight is
revealed to the Monster, it slowly turns his head upwards and walks very slowly and carefully
into the light. The Monster with its head and arms raised as if it wants to grab the light and become a

Self Identity And Self-Identity In The House On Mango Street
Self identity plays a large and significant role in shaping each of our lives. It is very important
because it affects the way you feel about yourself and how you behave in challenging situations.
In The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the main character, Esperanza, is an
approximately 12 year old Mexican American girl who struggles for self definition and
underscores her every action and encounter as she matures emotionally and sexually. Similarly,
in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, the main character,
Junior, is a 14 year old Spokane Indian boy who decides to go to a high school which has mostly
white kids in nearby Reardan, Washington in order to have better opportunities in life. Both of
these characters struggle to fit in with their surroundings that they almost forget about their self
identity. These two books are Similar in many types of ways. For instance, on page 5 of The
House on Mango Street, Esperanza says I knew I had to have a house. A real house. One that I
could point to. But this isn t it. The house on Mango Street isn t it. For the time being, Mama
says. Temporary says, Papa. But I know how those things go. When a nun asked Esperanza
where she lived and she told her, the nun made Esperanza feel ashamed about where she lived.
Another example on page 7 of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian Junior says I wish I
were magical, but I am really just a poor ass reservation kid living with his

When I lived in a Colorado, we resided in Eagle County a rural area in the deep mountains. Our

the major creek going into the Eagle river was the Gore Creek. The Gore Creek s health has been
deteriorating and even failed to meet failed to meet the Environmental Protection Agency standards
a few years ago. It is unfortunately being subjected to heavy erosion and water pollution, mainly
due to tourism related activities and attractions. Things such as golf courses and landscaping use

They have been asking homeowners that live on the creek bank to create a buffer zone, by not
mowing the grass on the creek side, not removing rocks, and to landscape using native plants. The
golf courses and ski resorts have pledged to use less chemicals and improve water drainage
systems. In the popular tourist spots for hiking and biking many natural barriers and vegetation
have been placed, along with signs to inform people where they can access the creek to wade, fish,
or enjoy looking at the beauty close up. Vail has been raising awareness in the community and have
students do hands on experiments. Some organizations have taken it upon themselves to help
educate people and tourists, a great example being Walking Mountains Science Center, which both
educates the community and has many hands on programs.
Other ideas I have, from knowing the area really well include providing homeowners and hotels
the right seeds and more natural vegetation to plant along the creek. Also, since tourists are alway
looking for signs and brochures, there can be more designed to be educational about the fragile
ecosystem and how not do harm it. Also, when the tourist season is over, many local enjoy
volunteer activities and there could be more based around restoring the

A Comparison Of Patrice Lumumba s Assassination
Despite what some people may believe, assassination is not synonymous with murder. Sure, both
are similar, but they are also very different. For instance, assassination is the act of killing an
important person for political reasons while murder is the killing of an average person for any
reason. Also, assassination has only happened to important political figures, such as Abraham
Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, and John F. Kennedy. Another important person who was
assassinated was Patrice Lumumba. He was an important historical figure who was possibly either
killed by troops who were loyal to Colonel Mobutu or the CIA. Born in the small village of
Onalua in Kasai province on July 2, 1925, Patrice Hemery Lumumba was a great man who
accomplished great things. He fought for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Lumumba made the decision to raise the pay of all government employees except for the
army, many units of the army objected and multiple rebellions spread throughout the country,
causing nationwide panic. For political reasons, Lumumba had to seek help from the Soviet, which
alarmed several countries and made them think that he was a communist. Because of this, he was
in deep trouble. Around September, 1961, Lumumba was dismissed from the government by
President Kasa Vubu. Furious, he retaliated by declaring the president deposed. As to be expected,
this did not go well with Colonel Joseph Mobutu, and so on the 14th of September, the colonel
incapacitated both Lumumba and Kasa Vubu. Despite being put under house arrest, Lumumba
snuck out to Stanleyville but was caught by Colonel Joseph Mobutu s troops. Then, around
January, after being beaten repeatedly, he was driven to the secessionist regime in Katanga and was
killed, however, no one is certain who was responsible for this, but theories suggest that it was the
CIA or the Katanga authorities that killed him because of his involvements with the Soviet

Upbringing Of Same Sex Marriage In The United States
The importance of love has abruptly changed society forever.Same sex marriage has evolved
over time. Before the law was passed in 2015 that it was legal for same sex can get married in
any state in the United States; they had to build that foundation to get to this point. People that
were not man and woman marriages were frowned upon by people that was not for it. These
people were murdered, whipped, said they had a disorder, and brutally beaten until they changed
their ways . The plethora of court cases, Harvey Milk, and The Defense Of Marriage Act are all
examples of the coming of age of same sex marriage.
Over the years from the early 1900s to the present 20th century marriage has made a 360. From
deaths, jail time, and whippings; this is what molds the upbringing of same sex marriage.
The Society of Human Rights was the first and the oldest documented gay rights organization. It
was established in 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. Also the first state to decriminalize homosexuality.
Friendships and Freedoms were the first American publications on the topic of homosexuality. It
was founded by Henry Gerber, the society shortly ended after a majority of members were arrested.

one wants to farm, there will be no food. If no one wants to labor, there will be no benefits to
share. Should such happen, let no one complain about longing for anything or being hungry and
cold. I can provide the means; the rest is left to the people. If a group of people decides to occupy
one house and live off the workreceipt of one person in the household who is working, so be it.
My ears will be closed to anyone s crying about there not being enough goods and services to
provide for everyone. In the capitalist world, when you find someone unemployed, you feel
sorry for him. If I can foresee the future correctly, I believe those found unemployed in Utopia
would become social outcasts, as there will be no reasons to be unemployed except for a desire
to be a freeloader. Social values should undergo a change. Whereas money is the root of all evil,
and Utopia will not have any money, Utopia will not have any evil. People will stop competing
against one another and will come to discover a new human being heretofore rarely seen. The
new creation will be people who will enjoy welcoming a stranger into their homes. They will be
people who give, ask for nothing in return, and will help others secretly and not blow a trumpet
for all to hear. I expect Utopia to be a shining light to a world stricken with suffering and despair.

This use of technology is just one of the issues being addressed in the movie. There is an
abundance of appliances, gadgets and devices that are created with the idea that they are meant to
make the world easier, simpler and more fun to live in. But the majority of these devices fail to
serve their purpose making things more cluttered and cumbersome. This includes elevators that don
t work, automated coffee machines that pour the coffee in the incorrect place, alarm clocks that get
stuck , miniature sized computers with magnifying glasses for viewing, and most importantly to the
main character, Sam Lowry, heating ducts that don t work.
Apartments in the world of Brazil are equipped with centralized climate control ducts in the walls.
The walls themselves are made out of panels to access all the tubing going through the walls in all
directions. To the misfortune of Sam Lowry, his heating ducts go incredibly array. When he calls to
have them fixed by the proper authorities, he is disappointed to find service unavailable and then
later, inefficient. Following misfortunes due to this breakdown lead to Sam Lowry s eventual
demise.
Brazil depicts how technology is not always a positive thing. Even products and systems that are
designed specifically for our benefit can become more tedious than useful. Technology is not
equivalent to progress, though much of the twentieth century has set that example. Industrialization

The Prevalence Of Parkinson s Disease
Individuals worldwide are affected by Parkinson s disease. Parkinson s is a chronic disorder
with onset of symptoms occurring at a mean age of 60 years. The prevalence of Parkinson s
increases with age and may affect up to 5% of individuals over 79 years old. (Tosin, Campos,
Andrade, Oliveira, Santana, 2015). Those affected by the disease, experience impairments in
movement, balance, and have difficulty performing everyday life tasks. Due to posture deficits and
gait dysfunction, patients with Parkinson s have an increased risk of falling which may lead to
secondary health problems. Although exercise programs have been implemented to decrease falls,
few programs are proven successful. (Li, Harmer, Fitzgerald, Eckstrom, Stock, Galver, Maddalozzo,
Batya, 2012). In order to find an effective program in decreasing falls, nurses are performing various
rehabilitation interventions that focus on improving postural stability. Two examples of
interventions include QiGong and Tai Chi. Qi Gong is a mindful exercise that effects neuroplasticity
in the brain and can have an effect on the postural instability that Parkinson s patients experience
(Loftus, 2014). Tai Chi is a balance based exercise that may have an effect on muscle strength and
stability for those living with Parkinson s (Li, et al., 2012). Qi Gong and Tai Chi are two
rehabilitation interventions that nurses are implementing to prove whether or not complementary

Analysis Of The Book Crossing The Wire
Hispanics, mostly Mexicans, are not being treated equally because of their different culture and
lifestyle and people need to treat them fairly and enforce laws against discrimination. In the book,
Crossing the Wire, Hobbs displays what a Mexican has to go through when they are crossing the
border to the United Statesfor a good cause. Hispanics have been discriminated ever since the
Mexicans gained independence in 1821 from Spain. In recent years African Americans have
been receiving the most attention in America because of so much racial discrimination, but they
are not the only big race being discriminated. Mexicans are getting just as much hate. This
problem is going to continue because the Mexican population in the United States is rapidly
growing. Humans need to figure out a solution to stop this hatred, so all races can unite with
each other. If we unite we can try to agree with each other on things and make the earth a better
place to live. Ever since the 1900s, there has been a large number of Mexicans immigrating
illegally and legally into the United States. During this time, Mexicans mostly lived in the
southwestern part of America, where most schools in the area were segregated, job opportunities
were limited, public facilities were limited to Mexican Americans and housing was in poor quality.
For example, in California, public swimming pools were open only one day a week for Mexican
Americans (Daniels). In 1993 the National School Boards Association found

On one side there is Augustus Caesar leading Italians with the senate and mighty gods and on
the other side comes Anthony with barbaric might and motley arms (109). He describes Egypt

grandness of these countries. It sounds similar to the first passage because Virgil wants to show
how important the Battle of Actium was for Augustus. All rush at once he writes as he describes

Kant s Theory Of Doubt
DOUBT AND CERTAINTY: A PHILOSOPHICAL RELATIONSHIP OF THE TWO
PARADOXICAL NOTIONS
I.INTRODUCTION
It is a human nature to be somewhat terrified to the unknown. However, the world is a giant
conglomerate of doubt. An extensive analysis is subjected to an extensive doubt. On the other
hand, humans continuously seek for certainty regarding a specific situation. We want to be certain
and aware on what is coming, in order to be prepared and fully know the truths. However, is it
possible for humans to achieve certainty with everything? What would the world be like if humans
do not have any hint of doubt?
The avenue of philosophy is primarily about addressing the fundamental questions regarding reality,
existence and truth in order to fulfil one s curiosity. Philosophizing is asking the right questions to
come up with the right answers. Relevantly, the feeling of doubt impels man to ask philosophical ...

to a condition in which one is unable or unwilling to accept, on the face of it, a given statement as
true. 1 When we say we are in doubt, what we mean is that we are not altogether certain about the
correctness of a proposition, the reliability of a person or even the existence of something.
Not all doubts are created equal. Doubt in its various forms exists. One of these is in the form of
quotidian doubt which is pertains to suspecting that the proponent of a proposition is most probably
not telling the truth, and at the same time, may even have reason to do so. For instance, when a
very probable suspect who is questioned by the police asserts that he is truly innocent, one may not
accept the statement as absolutely true.
Additionally, if a doctor were to tell a close relative of a seriously ill patient that there is a very
good chance of recovery, one may have some doubts about what the physician

Clonal Heterogeneity
Cancer is a systemic disease and advanced cancers can be locally advanced or metastatic. Generally,
the metastatic potential is through to be due to tumor heterogeneities which origin from the
differences generated in the evolution process of cancer itself as well as host microenvironment.
The capability of invasion and metastasisis closely related to cell motility and requires the
cytoskeleton that is essential during mitoses[18]. Since malignancy criteria are mainly related to
the phenotype of actively proliferating cells, metastatic deposits genetically match well
differentiated areas of primary and invasive areas[19]. These factors need attention when planning
the evaluation of intratumoral heterogeneity and detailed specification would be necessary to
pinpoint the intratumoral location, to assess selective process and to analyze pathways[18, 20].
These biological foundations would improve the therapeutic design and patient s management base
on heterogeneity.
The connection between initial stages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it should be noted that this approach could only be reliable only where the genetic
compositions of primary and metastatic tumors are similar. In addition, elucidating the key
difference between early and late origin of metastasis initiating cells is pivotal for determining the
therapeutic strategies that target tumor invasion. The question of clonal heterogeneity within
metastases remains unexplored, and, moreover, clonal heterogeneity within primary tumors has
limited direct therapeutic relevance. It should be noted that primary tumors can be successfully
removed by surgery in most cases, but this is most often not the case for metastatic outgrowths.
Therefore, elimination of metastatic clones has to rely on adjuvant therapies, and it is likely that
the success of these therapies will depend on the extent of the heterogeneity of these tumor cell

The Parable Of The Cave
The stories we read can teach us many things. We can learn lessons from such stories can make
us better people by teaching how others have learned from their successes and failures. Many
examples of such successes and failures which are discovered in Plato s story, The Parable of
the Cave, and Genesis chapter of the The Old Testament. Those involved in these stories learn
valuable lessons in these stories, both in a similar way, yet with different outcomes. Even with
these different outcome, everyone involved are taught in similar fashion, by learning one
concept after another, until they were able to comprehend fully. In Plato s, The Parable of the
Cave, Socrates is talking with a young follower named, Glaucon. Socrates wants to talk about
those who are enlightened or unenlightened, about looking past your own scope or view on your
life, to expand your mind. In order for Socrates to get his point across he needs to set examples
for Glaucon. Firstly, he starts his story of prisoners in chains, where they are unable to move
since childhood, followed by the effects that would occur if set free. Socrates uses questions in
order to engage Glaucon to teach him his principles of his theory. For example, And if they were
able to converse with one another, would they not suppose that they were naming what was actually
before them? (Literature of the Western World Pg. 1197) Also, when Socrates is talking about the
prisoner being removed

Analysis Of Unlocking The Mystery Of The Bible By Jeff Cavin
Last year, I took Karen Rieger s class, Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible by Jeff Cavins. This
class really opened my eyes! I finally got to see the big picture of the bible. Jeff Cavins presented
the story of salvation from creation and the fall through the coming of Christ to the establishment of
the Church. I love the color coded Bibletimeline chart. It arranges the key people, places, and
events of Sacred Scripture in chronological order.
St. Jerome, said ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. When I learn to know God through

Essay on Ludwig Van Beethoven and W.A. Mozart
Ludwig Van Beethoven and W.A. Mozart
Ludwig Van Beethoven and W.A. Mozart are the two most important musicians of their time. Their
pieces are everlasting and will live on forever. Their styles are so unique and uplifting that they
could never be matched. These masterminds played in the same time period but their lives differed
tremendously. There are some similarities and many differences between these two but one fact
will remain: They are the central and most vital part of all music.

He wrote, Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, a German opera in 1782. Mozart earned a living giving
lessons and holding concerts. Mozart later wrote Don Giovanni and The marriage of Figaro and
these were highly acclaimed pieces. Eventually, Mozart s popularity faded and his music was
found to be too complicated and hard to follow. Mozart s music was very versatile and his
masterpieces were in many forms. His piano concertos are very important and are popular
pieces. Mozart was also a master of the opera, writing many popular operas in his time. During
his last year, Mozart was more successful. He wrote and opera and a Requiem, which he did not
finish. W.A. Mozart s great passion in his work can be felt in many of his various works and his
style is that of the utmost perfection and can never be replicated. Mozart died in 1791, in Vienna at
the age of just 35. Ludwig Van Beethovencame in the later part of the Classical Period and helped
bridge this period with the Romantic era. Beethoven is considered by many the greatest musician
to ever play and is a mere genius. His influence is felt today and will continue to be felt
throughout time, with his pieces being so dramatic and profound that they will never be lost.

Ceramics Scholarship Essay
Growing up I have developed interests and abilities that continue to provide me endless satisfaction
and joy: literature, creative writing, friends, and art. These things are my foundation, my fun and
my life.
Ceramics is one of my true passions. It began when I was very young and continued through a 5
week summer program at Choate in 2016, and now at Fay as my favored art class. At Choate, I
advanced significantly in ceramics, learning and developing new clay and glazing techniques. One
of the methods I created was a marbling technique which impressed my fellow students and was
used by upper classmates for the rest of the summer. In my present ceramics class at Fay, I have
worked hard on hand building pieces, whistles, and using slabs to create boxes, vases, and tea sets.
I am hoping to get onto the Varsity Art team next year. Varsity Art is a ninth grade art class where
advanced art students are placed together to work and learn new techniques. The class focuses on
sketching, painting, sculpting and painting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Despite my love for writing, this was an arduous task for me. Writing about myself is more
challenging sometimes than writing about almost anything else!
Friendship is something that almost everyone needs or has. I have many friends and I am so
thankful for them. One of the most wonderful elements of my experience at Fay is the opportunity
to meet people my age, ranging from Thailand to Russia to California. I feel that true friends are
extremely important because they are there through hard times and are always there to talk to and

Abraham/Sarah, Isaac/ Rebecca and Jacob/ Racheal. The first creation story is found in Genesis 1

In the second creation story Gods interest was to find man a partner stating It is not good that the
man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner (Genesis 2:18). God attempted to
bring every animal in creation to the man in hopes that they would fit as a good partner but they
did not. The LORD than decided to make a creature for man to partner with stating then he took
one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from
the man he made into a woman (Genesis 2:21 22) Thus making man a fitting partner. The calling
of Abraham in 12:1 3 is shown as a bridge to link 2:4b 11 and the ancestral narrative of 12 50

that as mankind began to reproduce they became more and more wicked because of their

Business ethics and corporate social responsibility have become an increasing area of focus for

Jack Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums Essay
Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums
Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums does not fall too far from a basic description of his life.
Kerouac spent the bulk of his writing career riding trains from city to city, meeting people and
writing books and poetry. He was among the premier writers of the Beat Generation, a group of
primarily urban poets and writers who put the basics of life and their spiritual nuances into poetry
with a beat. The book, The Dharma Bums, is a window into the daily structure of the Beat
Generation.
Kerouac wrote The Dharma Bums while living the life of a bum, riding from city to city as a

He is almost always meticulous in certain aspects of a given scene while leaving out what one
would think are important details. However, the descriptions given are always enough to reveal a
full, vivid picture of moments, whether only gestures are described or wall paper.
The various scenes of the book are often unexpected, but the matter of fact style of writing
usually diffuses. Kerouac creates such a familiarity with his readers that it becomes assumed that
any place unusual to the reader is typical for him, and in this way he pulls the reader further into
this world of the Beat Generation. Oftentimes the scenes are set in the cramped places such as
boxcars and single room shacks frequented by Ray and his friends. Other times the scenes are
places like cafe s and restaurants around San Francisco, San Diego, and other, usually Californian,
cities; however some of Kerouac s most effective place descriptions throughout The Dharma Bums
are found in the stories of other places told by those Ray meets, rather than where he actually goes.
Among the most poignant aspects of The Dharma Bums is Kerouac s ability to use long narratives
to pull his readers into the experiences of the characters. The Dharma Bums is replete with the
explanation of the experiences of ancient Zen Buddhist thinkers and their experiences as they
search for enlightenment. Kerouac constantly accesses the ancient writings of Zen Buddhist
monks. Using such writings as a

Innocence In Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover
The Demon Lover, explains a love story from the past that comes back to the protagonist, Mrs.

the reader is left predicting the anonymous person who left it. It is unknown from the shift as to
what will occur, but the reader can assume something may not be good based on the title and the

In The Demon Lover, Bowen uses modern and feminist ideas to draw the reader into a deeper

narrows down possibilities as to how the letter arrived inside her home. Mrs. Drover remembers
her ex fiancГ© s promise, I shall be with you, he said, sooner or later. You won t forget that,
which leads to her, later on, talking to herself after his death saying that, he was never kind to me,
not really. I don t remember him kind at all (Bowen, 1332 1335). At the end of the short story, Mrs.

would let Jor el have reign over the new world, which is also said when the devil is speaking to
God and trying to keep himself out of what was to become Hell. One of the strongest points in
the movie that showed itself to be on the same path as Christ s coming was when Jor el said the
father in the son, and the son in the father, before he was to send Kah lel off into the universe
towards Earth. Another moment was when Kah lel throws the crystal and his father appears to
tell his son that he is pleased with him and that he should now start his ministry after roaming

Bible s story of Christ s twelve lost years, but it also is similar to when Christ was baptized by
John. When Christ s baptism took place in the river Jordan, a voice from Heaven came down
upon the crowd and said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. From the
beginning to end of the movie, there are times in which Superman looked to be modeled after the
story of Christ s coming.

Comparison Of Calista Roy s And Betty Neuman
Throughout nursing, there are many theories that nurses may come across and use. Calista Roy s
and Betty Neuman are two theorists that use two different types of models to encompasses the
health, person, and the environment. Callista Roy uses a theory that promotes adaptation to the
stimuli a person may encounter. Betty Neuman uses a theorythat promotes equilibrium in a time
where a person will encounter stress. These theories allow the nurseto bring a knowledge to learn
more about the person and the factors that influence their health. Although with any theory there
are different approaches in how the nursing plan is done, but with the patient in mind, it makes the
difference in care that is given and allows for better outcomes for the patient.
Roy s adaptation model is described as promoting a person s adaptation in the four adaptive
models which include physiologic needs, self concept, role function, and interdependent relations
(Hood, 2014, p. 135). Roy uses the approach of adaptation in the response to external stimulus. A
stimulus can elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will
allow the person to cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). For example, a person may encounter an illness but
how the person deals with it and the resources at hand will make the difference in their coping.
Roy describes that there are two coping mechanisms that can affect our mind and also our body
systems (Hood, 2014, p.134).

The roaring of lions, the howling of wolves, the raging of the stormy sea, and the destructive
sword, are portions of eternity too great for the eye of man. (William Blake, The Marriage of
Heaven and Hell, p. 7)
In 1980, William S. Burroughs delivered a speech at the Planet Earth Conference at the Institute of
Ecotechnics in Aix en Provence titled The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse .1 In this speech,
Burroughs, following religious tradition, says that the four horsemen of the apocalypse are Famine,

But he was never considered to be an apocalyptist before this speech. As I shall argue in this paper,
in Naked Lunch (1959), Burroughs serves us a naked apocalypse that is not simply cataclysmic and
frightening but eternal, parodic, and comic.
In 1988, Burroughs was asked to write the introduction to a Keith Haring exhibition catalogue,
Apocalypse.2 In it, Burroughs is more specific about his conception of the apocalypse:
Consider an apocalyptic statement: Nothing is true, everything is permitted Hassan i Sabbath.
Not to be interpreted as an invitation to all manner of unrestrained and destructive behavior; that
would be a minor episode, which would run its course. Everything is permitted because nothing
is true. It is all make believe, illusion, dream.... ART. When art leaves the frame and the written
world leaves the page not merely the physical frame and page, but the frames and pages of
assigned categories a basic disruption of reality occurs: the literal realization of art... Success will

If nothing is true then there can be no prohibition and no law and everything is permitted, and
permitted in the form of creative art because only that can disrupt reality. The effect of Burroughs
experiments with writing is to demystify literature as an institution and to make it available for
creative work. Anybody can make cut ups , he

Gasoline powered vehicles, also known as fuelies or gassers , run on premixed gasoline and oil.
They cost much more (usually $1000 $3000 RTR) than nitro and electric cars. They are also
much bigger and therefore require much more space to run. They don t usually have high top
end speeds (compared to nitro and some electrics) but have lots of power and don t take a lot of
fuel to run. Over time the cost of a gas powered car can be less than some nitro powered vehicles,
because of the high cost of nitro fuel and buying new nitro engines to replace worn out ones. In
addition, gas powered motors rarely if ever require tuning and have a very long lifespan. These
large scale models have been popular in Europe for over a decade. Accessories All R/C models
generally require the purchase of additional accessories. For electrical vehicles, battery packs and
a suitable charger are needed to power the car. A soldering iron and supplies are often necessary to
build high performance battery packs and install upgraded electronics or low resistance

Mesopotamian Civilizations
By looking in the past, us humans can learn about how we evolved as a species over time. Two of
the most studied civilizations are the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations. Even though each
civilization arose in different locations and time periods, both river system civilizations are mainly
similar regarding religion, art, writing, and architectural styles; except for a few slight differences
that are unique to each civilization. Both the Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations were
strongly reliant on religion, and this led both civilizations to believe in a polytheistic religion
system. The Egyptian and Mesopotamian populations believed in many gods, and associated their
gods with the natural forces that existed around them. For example,... Show more content on

For example, the Egyptians are most commonly known for their large architectural projects
which required an enormous labor force. Some examples include the Three Pyramids at Giza,
where Khufu, Menkaure, and Khafre were buried, The Great Sphinx, and the Stepped Pyramid at
Saqqara. Likewise, the only Mesopotamian structure that can compare to the size of the pyramids
is the ziggurat. Significance wise, both were built for religious purposes, as the ziggurat is a
place of worship and pyramids were built to immortalize the kings. Both the Egyptians and
Mesopotamians developed their own forms of writing, Hieroglyphics and Cuneiform, respectively.
Hieroglyphics is the more complex of the two, consisting of pictograms, phonograms, and
determinatives, and symbols can hold a variety of meanings depending on the context of what is
being written. When looking at art forms, you can learn many things about societal order and
hierarchy. For example, when looking at Egyptian monolithic statues, you can see clear differences
in social status just by structure and build of the piece. Kings and important officials had their
statue carved out of stone materials, like granite, while lesser figures were carved in wood. Kings
often had perfect physique in their sculptures, while scribes often looked lethargic and naturalistic.
More important figures even had a

Cold War And Communism Essay
The collapse of both the Soviet Union and socialism was a ceremony, yet to others, it was a
failure. To the everyday people who wanted rights to express, to live their life independent, and to
vote, this was a great accomplishment. To the individuals who were with the power, who did not
oppose to such policies, they remained oppressed by so a fall, especially communist bureaucrats.
This large fall was the origin of the ending of the Cold War. That was an ending to multiple
catastrophic incidents that got a point during, before, and later the Cold War. There are many cases
to why the Soviet Unionand socialism in East Europe fell. The three top reasons were, the first
being the Soviet s economic decline from military spending, another being Gorbachev s perestroika
and glasnost methods, and the three being some neighboring nations of the Soviet Union were
quickly facing socialism and taking fighting against their regime. All these matters slowly and
eventually led to the crumbling of the Soviet Union and socialism in Eastern Europe. The Cold War
began as tension arose due to the political competence of communism versus democracy during the
post war... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These objectives changed the lives of many people. The lives of many Eastern Europeans was
never pleasant during the Cold War, for it was regulated and restricted by communists who were
fixed on developing such a system throughout the world. The Soviet Union needed to reach an
extent wherever they were the only leaders and always in control. It is maybe due to this wish and
wants that their policies and system, in the end, are lost. The Soviet s economic decline due to
military spending, Gorbachev s perestroika and glasnost management, and the quick opposing of
surrounding nations of the Soviet Union toward their government were the primary causes of the
death of communism in Eastern Europe and the dissolving of the Soviet

The Wire And Not Plato
It s all in the game. Though these words belong to the nefarious Omar Little of HBO s critically
acclaimed The Wire and not Plato, they nonetheless remain relevant. If anything, the game is
akin to Plato s allegory of the cave and the shadows that it casts. That being said, I will make the
argument that anyone who doesn t play by the rules of the game or tries to alter it, much like the
prisoner who sees the light and goes back to aid his fellow prisoners, will be rejected. The only
means of retaining a livelihood in the context of the Wire and its characters is to remain in the
cave and entertain the idea of the shadows being reality for just as the prisoners in the cave are
disillusioned by the shadows they perceive to be reality,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Religions Of The Middle East
Abrahamic religions, religions that derive from the biblical character Abraham, have three main
religions in the group. The first, and oldest, is Judaism, founded several thousand years ago in the
Middle East; then there is Christianity, the most popular religion in the world, which was founded
shortly after the death of Christ; finally, there is Islam, the second most popular religion in the
world, founded by the prophet Muhammed in the 7th century ACE. Islam has over one billion
followers of the Islamic faith. Although it is one of the most popular religions in the world, many
people do not know much about what Muslims, followers of Islam, believe in. Due to the rising
publicity of militant terrorist groups in the Middle East, Islamophobia has become rampant in many
first world countries. Although the media portrays violent and barbaric acts performed by militant
Muslims, a majority of Muslims do not commit such atrocities and are wrongly persecuted. Only by
educating those who do not know about Islam, can it be assured that Islamophobia will dwindle.
Islam was founded in Saudi Arabia by a prophet named Muhammed. Muhammed is considered to be
the greatest prophet in the Muslim faith, the second greatest prophet in the Muslim faith is
considered to be Jesus Christ himself. The one main, significant difference between Islam and
Christianity is that Muslims do not see Christ as being the Lord, they believe that only Allah, the
Arabic name for God, is the one, true lord.

Income Tax And Tax Rates
Income Tax
As the name implies income tax is a percentage of a person s income but it is not quite as simple as
the percentage changes depending on how much you earn on average in a year (See Figure 1)
ergo if you make more money you pay a larger amount of income tax, however most people get a
Personal Allowance of ВЈ10,000 a year which you don t pay tax on therefore if you don t earn more
than this amount you aren t required to pay any form of income tax. There are certain forms of
income which you don t pay tax for example certain state benefits, interest on savings, rental
income below ВЈ4,250 and premium bonds.

The UK s corporate tax is slightly higher with Europe s average corporation tax which stands at
19.68% this fiscal year but is much lower than the North American average of 33.25% this fiscal

VAT
VAT is a form of tax which is taken from the majority of goods and services, as well as certain
goods imported into the UK outside the EU. VAT can be taken from both B2B and B2C
transactions carried out by a business and can reclaim the VAT paid for goods and services
required for the business. There are three rates of VAT, Standard (20%), Reduced (5%), Zero
(0%) and certain are exempt from VAT or aren t included in the UK VAT system. To be able to
register to be able to use VAT you must first pass the VAT threshold which is currently В
Ј81,000,
meaning your company must have had a turnover at or above ВЈ81,000 to be eligible to apply. The
rate of VAT changes over time depending on the economic climate for example during 2008 VAT
rates dropped to 15% and by 2010 they increased to 17.5% until 2011 when they raised to todays
20% rate. This change in VAT rates can help to determine when a country is in the

The Importance Of The Flipped Classroom
The motivation to examine the flipped classroom as a theme of investigation originates from this
present creator s advantage and mastery in utilizing innovation and how it can be utilized to draw in
and upgrade the classroom condition today. Most secondary school seniors were conceived and
grew up concurrent with the introduction of cell phones, youtube, myspace, facebook, snapchat and
instagram. With the advances in innovation regularly, one starts to contemplate what is the eventual
future of education. Flipped classroom turned into an enthusiasm of mine since it includes utilizing
online videos and it can possibly furnish educators with additional time in the classroom to provide
learning experiences that will reinforce the skills needed by the 21st Centurystudent.
Why the Flipped Classroom
Research has demonstrated that the classroom educator can have the largest impact on gains in
student learning (Marzano, Pickering, Pollack, 2001). Marzano et al. (2001) provided teachers
with many different research based strategies for increasing student achievement. In later research,
(Marzano, 2007) went on to say, Arguably, keeping students engaged is one of the most important
considerations for the classroom teacher (Marzano, 2007 p. 98). He additionally states that
engaging students have become increasingly difficult with the influence of a society with fast
paced media and video games. (Marzano, 2007 p. 98) Marzano provided educators with many
different ideas for the

Shakespeare s Education And Literary Education In...
Shakespeare is considered one of the greatest poets of all time. He has thirty eight playwrights
and over 150 sonnets credited to his name, yet there is no historic records of Shakespeare
physically writing these masterpieces. Two centuries ago, Hank Whittemore theorized that William
Shakespeare was just an alias for a poet named Earl de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford. Numerous
scholars disregard Hank Whittemore s claim and believe William Shakespeareis the legitimate poet,
but historical evidence suggests Shakespeare s education background would have made him unfit to
write such masterpieces. The true master mind behind the Shakespearean works is not William
Shakespeare, but rather Earl de Vere. Shakespeare was incompetent to have written the plays, and
overwhelming evidence suggests Earl de Vere is the wordsmith of the shakespearean plays.
During Elizabethan England, William Shakespeare s education and social class would have
rendered him unable to write the sophisticated shakespearean literature. William Shakespeare was
born to a poor family, and he was given a very basic education. Because of his social status,
William Shakespeare had neither the education nor the literary training to write such eloquent
prose and create such rich characters, (A E Networks Television). To write the Shakespearean
works it demands excessive literary knowledge, yet Shakespeare had neither a profound education
or literary guidance, raising uncertainty on Shakespeare s capability to compose

A Brief Introduction to the Pinch Analysis
The economics of industrial production, limitation of global energy supply, and the realities of
environmental conservation are an enduring concern for all industries. Wherever you turn, there s
another entreaty to save energy, reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment for posterity.
Pinch analysis is a tools used to design a heat exchanger networks (HEN) that reduce the energy
usage. This paper will be about brief introduction for the pinch analysis, application of the second
law of thermodynamicsin design heat exchanger network
Pinch Analysis:
Pinch technology is the technology that provides a systematic methodology for energy saving in
processes and total sites. The methodology is based upon first low and second low of ... Show more

Minimizing the total entropy produced by heat exchanger network lead to minimizing the use of
high energy quality. The entropy can define for single heat exchanger i.e. exchange heat of one hot
stream with one cold stream as
S=в€®в
–’dS=∫в
–’dq/T
S=∫_(T_Hi)^(T_Ho)в
–’(C_H dT_H)/T_H ∫_(T_Ci)^(T_Co)в
–’(C_C dT_C)/T_C
гЂ–S=CгЂ—_C lnвЃЎгЂ–(T_Co/T_Ci гЂ—) C_H lnвЃЎгЂ–(T_Hi/T_Hi гЂ—)
Sets of heat exchanger network will have constant total entropy when they use same type and
amount of utilities. On the other hand, the entropy will vary for networks having different types
and amount of utilities. The networks entropy that is used high energy qualities is higher than the
one that used low energy qualities. The changes come from using high energy qualities, and this
lead to have higher temperature different in some heat exchangers, hence high entropy. Due to that,
the total area of the networks also will vary with the use of different utilities since total area is in
related with temperature different in heat exchanger. As the temperature different increase the area
will decrease.
Furthermore, total entropy can be used as objected furcation in mathematical programing. Total
entropy can help to find total energy required with from each energy levels in small code.
Case study:
The objective of this case study is show the change of total entropy when different types of utility
used i.e. LP steam, MP steam and HP steam. The case study has three hot streams and three

Assistive Technology Solutions For Students With Learning...
Assistive Technology Solutions
Technological advances have increased access to the curriculum for students with learning
disabilities. Assistive technology are the devices and services used to maintain or improve the
capabilities of a student with a disability (Dell, Newton, Petroff, 2011). Through these technologies,
students with learning disabilities are able to complete tasks in the classroom that they were
otherwise, unable to achieve. Prior to the availability of assistive technology, a student who was
unable to use their hands or arms, would not have been able to write or type on a computer in the
classroom. Additionally, students unable to read because of visual disabilities, or reading
disabilities such as dyslexia, had a difficult time accessing information in the traditional classroom
setting.
Assistive Technology Software
There are a variety of computer software programs and hardware designs available to use for
students with disabilities. These assistive technology designs help the student to access information
they were unable to do before. Text to speech software, such as Kurzweil 3000, reads the material
aloud to the student. Documents can be scanned into the program allowing the student to have the
computer read them the text. The student is able to complete the work independently; affording
them access to the curriculum and a new independence. Another example of assistive technology is
speech to text. Dragon Naturally Speaking, is a software program

Harley Davidson
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Harley Davidson is the largest market share holder of motorcycles over

States. After the expansion of our production and distribution capacity, we will be in the position to
meet the increasing demand for our motorcycles and other products. Growth potential appears very
good especially in the overseas market. Gaining a larger market share in these area may require a
further increase in production and distribution capacities. We must plan for expansion now and
continue to grow as a company.

Sales of Buell motorcycles (which are distributed through select Harley Davidson dealers) increased
to $14 million in 1995 as compared to $6 million in 1994. The Company began 1995 at a
scheduled motorcycle production rate of 395 units per day. As the implementation of the
manufacturing strategy continued, the rate increased to 470 units per day by the end of the year.
The Company exceeded its production goal of 100,000 units in 1995 and anticipates 1996
production will reach at least 115,000 units.
The Company is currently reviewing alternative sites for the construction of a new manufacturing
facility to enable it to achieve its long term goal of doubling motorcycle production by 2003. Year
end data indicates that the domestic (United States) motorcycle market continued to grow
throughout 1995.
Compared to 1994, industry registrations of domestic heavyweight (engine displacements in
excess of 751cc) motorcycles were up 11.3% . The Company ended 1995 with a domestic market
share of 55.8% compared to 56.1% in 1994. This decrease is a reflection of the Company s
constrained production capacity in a growing heavyweight motorcycle market. Demand for the
Company s motorcycles continues to exceed supply with nearly all of the Company s independent
domestic dealers reporting retail orders on all of their remaining 1996 model year motorcycle
allocations (production through June, 1996). Export revenues totaled $394.8 million during

Glumania-Personal Narrative Essay
It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. Josh, my grandfather yelled up the
stairs, it s for you. It s Jackie, and she sounds angry. As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I
was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice quiet evening at home, not another
pointless police chase leading to me and Jackie being outran by some goons. Thirty minutes later,
however, Jackie s white Mustang skrted into our driveway, and Jackie was laying on the horn
before the car had come to a full stop. I scurried to get my shoes and jacket, then ran out the front
door with all the enthusiasm of a man going to chase after the largest cartelon planet Glumania.

saw me hover up next to her in the Mustang.
Hop in and let s go catch these guys. I yelled to Jackie.
She got in and had so many questions to ask which is as expected from her. We flew off in the
direction we last saw the space car speed off towards. There was no sight of where the car
possibly went, but we continued going farther and farther out into what appeared to be nowhere.
The cool calm air rushed through my hair as we continued or journey, it was silent except for the
noise of the humming engine. We decided to delay our pursuit since we had been up all night and
find a place to park the Mustang so we could get some sleep.
As I was drifting off into what would have been a peaceful sleep the roar of an engine in the
distance woke me up.

  • 3. Philippine American War Essay Philippine American War In the past centuries, colonialism has been a country s way of gaining great amounts of wealth and cheap labor. The idea of colonialism has been heavily controversial, in terms of today s standards. In the United States of America, Americans were also against this idea, since they also have been under the harsh rule of the British empire. However, after the Spanish American war ended in 1898 through the Treaty of Paris, the US government decided to own the colonies that have been ceded by the Spanish. This decision marked the turning point in American history because it violated their constitution and redefined what it means to be the upholders of democracy. In one of the acquired colonies, the Philippines expected ultimate independence instead of a change of colonial power. This allowed conflict to mount between the two countries, which prompted the Filipinos to stage a revolt against the Americans. Unfortunately, because of the U.S. government s dedication to establish its sovereignty over the islands, the desire of the Filipinos to gain their independence, and the economic implications of the islands towards America, the two countries were unable to form a compromise leading to the Philippine American War. This resulted to the death of more than 250,000 Filipinos and 4,200 U.S. troops. Ironically, this ugly encounter between the Americans and the Filipinos brought peace and strong relations after the war that last until today. The Philippines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Introduction Of The Movie Avatar Introduction: The film Avatar (italics on titles plus remove the bold writing on your paragraphs and remove all the planning above when you submit the final) directed by James Cameron is the story of Jake Sully; the man who is asked to take the place of his twin brothers place at Pandora for a scientific experiment. At the start he was very hesitant toward taking his brothers (apostrophe) place, there were times when he felt like not continuing with the program. Along the way he faced a series on tests, allies and enemies. The end result is what he was starting to want near the end of the movie.(the more formal term is film) Body: When he was first called to the mission he had moments of refusal because it was a scientific task and he was in the marine prior to this, therefore he was used to going in all guns blazing rather than trying to figure it out scientifically and appreciating who they are and what their land means to them. Other people were not accepting of him, due to his paralysis, causing him to be in a wheelchair. There is evidence of this when someone from the army side says to their friend that he is meals on wheels . Later in the movie, once Jake had figured out that the avatars are nice and that the army shouldn t (avoid contraction should not) be destroying their land, he starts to refuse orders from Kernell (the army leader). Kernell was demanding that he told him important things (be precise what are these important thing exactly?) about the avatars so it would be easier to destroy them, but jake could keep changing from an avatar to a human, so when he came back to the human life he would usually start to fill Kernell in on what happened but near the end he stopped telling him so he could save the avatars. He realised that the avatars were actually really nice and approving of him after a while. Where can you include the how? In other words, the cinematic technique, for instance full shots capture Jake interacting with The colonel or a close up shot reveals the moment Jake realises that the Na vi people need to be respected During the 2 hours and 42 minutes Jake faced a series of multiple tests, allies, and enemies. • 5. Grades Are Not The Key Grades are Not the Key I remember the first time that a grading rubric was attached to a piece of writing for a grade; I was no longer exploring for me. I want to get that back. Will I ever get that back? Said Claire, a student a student that goes to Olson University.(Alfiekohn.org) What she is trying to say is that she feels that all the fun, purpose, and learning experience is being taken out of because the rubric is commanding and telling her what to do. Grades may deprive students of their willingness to work and do not matter much because they do not affectyour life in the long run, it can cause students to be stressed out, and make it a more positive environment if grades were taken out of the school system. Many people believe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This applies to the future for other for other jobs and schools as well. Grades do not affect your life in the long run. A studentthat may learn nothing yet get a high score on their quiz or test, versus someone who learns a lot but gets a low grade and unfortunately, colleges will not know any of this. Some students may even have test anxiety, making them do bad on test. Around 40 60% of students suffer from test anxiety.(healthycentral.org) So, around half of students have a chance of doing poorly on a test despite learning a lot. Colleges may not know this part either; they also do not know how much blood, sweat, and tears a student has put into the 12 14 grades before college. Many amazing learning experiences do not even come from school. Then, if a student does not use that information in school, they may think that it is useless learning information out of school. They may not even think this until they graduate. Recent graduates, a student with a college reputation, a high GPA, and courses are shown at the bottom of the list when applying for a job.(theatlantic.com) So remember, a couple bad grades will not land you a job at McDonald s for the rest of your life, and experiences. • 6. The TRACE Model The TRACE model accounts for WF effects as studies have found that participants gaze at words presented prior and after LF words for a longer duration than the words surrounding the HF words (Rayner Duffy, 1986). Thus, as the model encompasses top down and bottom up processing (McClelland Elman, 1986), quicker responses may be induced for HF words, as when individuals read LF words they may analyse surrounding words to assess the context of the text, which consequently slows them down. Whereas, this process is not necessarily required for HF words, due to the familiarity of the context the words are used in. Furthermore, the TRACE model accounts for WS effects as exemplified by Williams and Gaffney (1985) as eight participants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the model s flexibility and universality allows a greater applicability to these effects and variations, such as developmental disorders that can impact them. accurately in a string of letters when presented in an actual word, compared to a non word or a single isolated letter (Baron, 2014). Thus, as both models only incorporate bottom up processing, which is more useful when processing individual letters (Starrfelt, Petersen, Vangkilde, 2013), they cannot account for WS as it would be difficult to efficiently detect letters within words. However, the TRACE model by McClelland and Elman (1986) accounts for both effects as it is an interactive processing model whereby visual and auditory inputs are interpreted by their features, before progressing to either the letter or phenome level and subsequently advancing to the word level to retrieve suitable candidates, as shown in Figure 2. The Logogen model accounts for word frequency (WF) effects, which is based on the premise that high frequency (HF) words are used more regularly so they are easier to recognise than low frequency (LF) words that are used scarcely (Murrell Morton, 1974). Rayner and Duffy (1986) illustrate this as participants fixated and gazed longer at LF words compared to HF words, potentially as infrequent words are not easily accessed within the lexicon. Consequently, as a Logogen has to reach a specific threshold to be activated, HF words are stimulated quicker than LF ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Surrealism and Femininity Surrealism and femininity A2098336 Introduction Surrealism is type of cultural movement that came into being in 1920s and it is renowned for the visual artworks and writings. The main aim of the emergence of surrealism was to get a solution to what was a previously contradictory condition between dream and reality. Artists painted illogical, unnerving scenes that had photographic precession. They also created strange creatures from the objects that existed everyday. They were also able to develop techniques in painting which allowed what was not conscious to express itself. The work of surrealists features elements like surprise, juxtapositions that are unexpected and non sequitur. On the other hand many surrealist artists and writers term their work as being an expression of philosophical movement in the first place and their work being artifacts. History of surrealism The work surrel was coined by an art critic and poet Guillaume Apollinaire. Upon his death another artist Andre Breton published a manifesto of Surrealism in 1924.in this manifesto he describe surrealism as attempting to transmute the two states that seem contradictory which are dream and reality into a kind of reality that is absolute which is of surreality. When people think of Surrealism they think of Salvador Dali and memory persistence.an important think to note is that since its emergence surrealism as global particularly as early surrealists existence such as Andre Breton and Marcel Duchamp used ... • 8. Unknown Vs Evil In Frankenstein One of the many themes in James Whale s 1931 film Frankenstein is that of the known vs the unknown or good vs evil. Whale uses the motif of fire as a powerful extension of what the good can do to the darkness. Fire is used as a way to keep the Monster or the evil representation of the film in isolation and outside of the known world and also as a way to show that the known or good will always win against the unknown or evil. Known vs unknown or good vs evil falls into the category of a knowledge narrative according to Andrew Tudor. Tudor says that the narrative itself functions by proposing the existence of a body of knowledge capable of mediating between these domains of known and unknown (83). The first distinct moment where there is realization of the darkness/unknown trying to seep into the world of the light/known is when Henry Frankenstein says that his monster has only been kept in complete darkness and to wait until [he] brings him into the light (30:30 30:35). After his speech the Monster walks into the room and Frankenstein closes the light as if to wait for the right moment to bring him into light or the world of the known. When the Monster finally sits down on a chair, Frankenstein opens the window on the roof to reveal the sunlight (32:07). Once the sunlight is revealed to the Monster, it slowly turns his head upwards and walks very slowly and carefully into the light. It is very important because it affects the way you feel about yourself and how you behave in challenging situations. In The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the main character, Esperanza, is an approximately 12 year old Mexican American girl who struggles for self definition and underscores her every action and encounter as she matures emotionally and sexually. Similarly, in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, the main character, Junior, is a 14 year old Spokane Indian boy who decides to go to a high school which has mostly white kids in nearby Reardan, Washington in order to have better opportunities in life. Both of these characters struggle to fit in with their surroundings that they almost forget about their self identity. These two books are Similar in many types of ways. For instance, on page 5 of The House on Mango Street, Esperanza says I knew I had to have a house. A real house. One that I could point to. But this isn t it. The house on Mango Street isn t it. For instance, assassination is the act of killing an important person for political reasons while murder is the killing of an average person for any reason. Also, assassination has only happened to important political figures, such as Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, and John F. Kennedy. Another important person who was assassinated was Patrice Lumumba. He was an important historical figure who was possibly either killed by troops who were loyal to Colonel Mobutu or the CIA. Around September, 1961, Lumumba was dismissed from the government by President Kasa Vubu. Furious, he retaliated by declaring the president deposed. As to be expected, this did not go well with Colonel Joseph Mobutu, and so on the 14th of September, the colonel incapacitated both Lumumba and Kasa Vubu. Despite being put under house arrest, Lumumba snuck out to Stanleyville but was caught by Colonel Joseph Mobutu s troops. Not all doubts are created equal. Doubt in its various forms exists. One of these is in the form of quotidian doubt which is pertains to suspecting that the proponent of a proposition is most probably not telling the truth, and at the same time, may even have reason to do so. Generally, the metastatic potential is through to be due to tumor heterogeneities which origin from the differences generated in the evolution process of cancer itself as well as host microenvironment. The capability of invasion and metastasisis closely related to cell motility and requires the cytoskeleton that is essential during mitoses[18]. Since malignancy criteria are mainly related to the phenotype of actively proliferating cells, metastatic deposits genetically match well differentiated areas of primary and invasive areas[19]. These factors need attention when planning the evaluation of intratumoral heterogeneity and detailed specification would be necessary to pinpoint the intratumoral location, to assess selective process and to analyze pathways[18, 20]. It should be noted that primary tumors can be successfully removed by surgery in most cases, but this is most often not the case for metastatic outgrowths. • 32. Jack Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums Essay Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums Jack Kerouac s The Dharma Bums does not fall too far from a basic description of his life. Kerouac spent the bulk of his writing career riding trains from city to city, meeting people and writing books and poetry. He was among the premier writers of the Beat Generation, a group of primarily urban poets and writers who put the basics of life and their spiritual nuances into poetry with a beat. The book, The Dharma Bums, is a window into the daily structure of the Beat Generation. He is almost always meticulous in certain aspects of a given scene while leaving out what one would think are important details. However, the descriptions given are always enough to reveal a full, vivid picture of moments, whether only gestures are described or wall paper. The various scenes of the book are often unexpected, but the matter of fact style of writing usually diffuses. Kerouac creates such a familiarity with his readers that it becomes assumed that any place unusual to the reader is typical for him, and in this way he pulls the reader further into this world of the Beat Generation. Oftentimes the scenes are set in the cramped places such as boxcars and single room shacks frequented by Ray and his friends. Other times the scenes are places like cafe s and restaurants around San Francisco, San Diego, and other, usually Californian, cities; however some of Kerouac s most effective place descriptions throughout The Dharma Bums are found in the stories of other places told by those Ray meets, rather than where he actually goes. Among the most poignant aspects of The Dharma Bums is Kerouac s ability to use long narratives to pull his readers into the experiences of the characters. The Dharma Bums is replete with the explanation of the experiences of ancient Zen Buddhist thinkers and their experiences as they search for enlightenment. Kerouac constantly accesses the ancient writings of Zen Buddhist monks. Using such writings as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Zod, who was one of two men on trial, told Jor el to let him go and that he would let Jor el have reign over the new world, which is also said when the devil is speaking to God and trying to keep himself out of what was to become Hell. One of the strongest points in the movie that showed itself to be on the same path as Christ s coming was when Jor el said the father in the son, and the son in the father, before he was to send Kah lel off into the universe towards Earth. Another moment was when Kah lel throws the crystal and his father appears to tell his son that he is pleased with him and that he should now start his ministry after roaming the wilderness for the past twelve years. Not only does this scene in the movie agree with the Bible s story of Christ s twelve lost years, but it also is similar to when Christ was baptized by John. When Christ s baptism took place in the river Jordan, a voice from Heaven came down upon the crowd and said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. These theories allow the nurseto bring a knowledge to learn more about the person and the factors that influence their health. Although with any theory there are different approaches in how the nursing plan is done, but with the patient in mind, it makes the difference in care that is given and allows for better outcomes for the patient. Roy s adaptation model is described as promoting a person s adaptation in the four adaptive models which include physiologic needs, self concept, role function, and interdependent relations (Hood, 2014, p. 135). Roy uses the approach of adaptation in the response to external stimulus. A stimulus can elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will allow the person to cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). For example, a person may encounter an illness but how the person deals with it and the resources at hand will make the difference in their coping. Gas powered models Gasoline powered vehicles, also known as fuelies or gassers , run on premixed gasoline and oil. They cost much more (usually $1000 $3000 RTR) than nitro and electric cars. Through these technologies, students with learning disabilities are able to complete tasks in the classroom that they were otherwise, unable to achieve. Prior to the availability of assistive technology, a student who was unable to use their hands or arms, would not have been able to write or type on a computer in the classroom. Compared to 1994, industry registrations of domestic heavyweight (engine displacements in excess of 751cc) motorcycles were up 11.3% . Demand for the Company s motorcycles continues to exceed supply with nearly all of the Company s independent domestic dealers reporting retail orders on all of their remaining 1996 model year motorcycle allocations (production through June, 1996). Export revenues totaled $394.8 million during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She got in and had so many questions to ask which is as expected from her. We flew off in the direction we last saw the space car speed off towards. There was no sight of where the car possibly went, but we continued going farther and farther out into what appeared to be nowhere. The cool calm air rushed through my hair as we continued or journey, it was silent except for the noise of the humming engine. We decided to delay our pursuit since we had been up all night and find a place to park the Mustang so we could get some sleep.
