school level entails balancing simplicity with depth, catering to a diverse audience of students
with varying levels of understanding and interest. This necessitates clear, concise explanations
while avoiding oversimplification. Additionally, the subject matter must be engaging and
relatable to high school students, which requires thoughtful consideration of their interests,

General Positivism And The Interpretive Paradigm
Part 1: Purpose
a)Social Science Research Paradigm
The social science paradigm also known as Post positivism consists of testing
hypothesis and research questions that are developed through reasoning. This is done
through measurements and observation. Social scientists aspire to science and they
seek to study human behaviour, interaction and thought in an organized way; which
we can then measure, generalize and replicate. Like any research, post positivism
needs to be backed up by evidence. When a social science research sets out a
research project, it is their goal to find evidence that can either agree or disagree with
the hypothesis or theories. Post positivism, compared to positivism allows more
interaction with the participants of the research project and seeks to highlight the
relationship between universal properties between the variables. The best way to
understand post positivism is by comparing it to positivism and the interpretive
paradigm. Compared to positivism, post positivism is more tolerant for value based
information, however is not focused on qualitative information like the interpretive
paradigm, instead the research is mainly focused on quantitative data.
b) Literature Review Students are now busier than ever, according to the survey
conducted by the New Zealand Union of Students Association, 63% of students are
working while at university, with an average of 25 hours a week (2010), this causes
clashes when it comes to arranging physical group
Bad Health Paradigm
THINK PINK. THINK AGAIN!
You wake up and on your morning commute the city skyline is illuminated in pink.
You walk into the office and your coworkers are sporting hot pink shirts and buttons.
At lunch you see those same coworkers munching way on KFC from a pink bucket
and washing it down with pink bottles of Pepsi. After lunch your boss calls a team
meeting because Katherine was just diagnosed with breast cancer, the third coworker
this year, so he rallies the troops to support her by baking a dozen for the cure and
wearing even morepink tomorrow. you come home exhausted from the day and put
on Monday night football to sell all of your favorite athletes, wearing what other
than pink. You say to yourself If I didn t know better I think I have been pink washed .
The Pink Campaign is in the Epicenter of a Bad Health Paradigm

The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living
b) The unexamined life is not worth living , quoted Socrates. It appears that,
following his brilliant logic, the key to living philosophically is exactly how one
interprets and scrutinizes their own life in a philosophical context. As with the
nature of philosophy itself, living philosophically is also ambiguous, and it could
very well be that one lives philosophically even if they do not necessarily realize it.
Take, for instance, a person who questions why humans and all life forms must die;
or one who ponders their true meaning in life are they not thinking philosophically?
Regardless of whether or not they actually study philosophy, they are still critically
thinking about the nature of being and existence in an interpretive, between the
lines way. If they genuinely reach a conclusion about these topics, they can expand
upon them by applying them towards real world scenarios in effect, they would
truly live philosophically every day. One may argue that individuals need not
actively think about philosophical themes, but rather, perform and apply those ideas
subconsciously into their lives. It thus should be valid that a person who is being in
the world , living around an intensely dedicated focal practice in a hobby or
profession, lives philosophically as well. In this case, their entire self, style, and
genuine, original being, is imprinted upon their particular art or craft. They do not
merely mold themselves into their work, but they essentially become
Hawaiian Monarchy Research Paper
The Overthrow According to Hawaii s Monarchy Overthrown With U.S. Support,
120 Years Ago, a group of wealthy businessmen and sugar plantation owners worked
with U.S. troops to overthrow the Hawaiian Kingdom. The overthrow took place on
January 17, 1893 and was what had caused the end of the Hawaiian monarchy.
However, this event did not happen over the course of a day, it was the result of a
multitude of different events that benefited foreign blood. For example, American
and European men were the owners of sugar plantations and most businesses in
Hawaii. The Reciprocity Treaty of 1875, the Great Mahele, the Rebellion of 1887
and the Bayonet Constitution, and the Wilcox Rebellion of 1888 are also some of the
events that lead to the overthrow. All of these events benefited the people of

Hawaiian kingdom. Their goal was to reform the monarchy politically as well as
economically. During the depressing time Hawaii officially became the 50th state,
what Hawaiians did not realize was that they benefited politically, economically,
and socially. Hawaii was now protected with a stronger military force, many more
job opportunities opened up, the culture in Hawaii became diversified, and Hawaii
also gained wider contacts from other countries. However, Hawaii did lose its
original, unique culture with more people from foreign lands coming to visit
Hawaii. Also, according to NPR s article It Took Two Centuries, But The Native

Good Country People by Flannery O Connor Essay
Good Country People by Flannery O Connor
Good Country People ; by Flannery O #8217;Connor is an excellent example of
irony in literature. From beginning to end it has a steady procession of irony, much
of it based on the title of the story: #8220;Good Country People. ;
In the beginning of the story we meet Mrs. Freeman, wife of the hired hand. She
and her husband have been working for Mrs. Hopewell for four years. #8220;The
reason for her keeping them so long was that they were not trash. They were
#8216;Good Country People, #8217; ; according to Mrs. Hopewell. Ironically one of
the first things we learn about Mrs. Freeman is that her previous employer has called
her #8220;the nosiest woman ever to walk the earth. ; Then, as the ... Show more

country people like me! ; When confronted with this Mrs. Hopewell exclaims
#8220;good country people are the salt of the earth! ; and #8220;there aren
#8217;t enough good country people in the world ;. Seeing that he has found Mrs.
Hopewell #8217;s weakness for #8220;Good Country People, ; Manley proceeds to
play up his being a country boy. #8220;Not even from a place, just from near a
place. ; Then in what I believe to be just another attempt to gain sympathy, Manley
tells Mrs. Hopewell that he has a heart condition and may not live long. This gains
him an invitation to dinner, which he gladly accepts. Yes Manley Pointer is a fine
example of #8220;Good Country People. ; NOT! And we are only just getting to

After dinner Manley Pointer secretly asks Joy/Hulga to go on a picnic with him the
next day. She agrees and during the night she plans to seduce him. She imagines that
she easily seduces him and that then, #8220;of course, she had to reckon with his

How Does Orangutans Affect Human Behavior
Orangutans are the world s largest arboreal mammal. The adults can get very big
in size; some of them can get up to between 120 pounds all the way to a close 200.
They also can stand up very tall and get up to between four to five feet, which is
literally my grandma s height. Orangutan s hair colors are slightly different than one
another. Some have dark orange, brown orange and sometimes even pale orange.
Those are some of the rare colors you will see in orangutans; the most common hair
color for an orangutanis reddish orange. Their physical appearance is almost looking
at a humanbeing who is very hairy. They have almost everything we have and look
just like them for example. Orangutans have hands and feet just like us with

I kid you not my sister and mom gave us the that s gross face while my dad, brother
and I just started laughing and actually thought to ourselves, that we do the same
thing with our fingers and Q tips. I enjoyed watching them move around and eat
and think how much alike we really are, and I always wonder if they think the
same thing. From what I can remember I honestly think the local ecology behavior
doesn t really affect anything. To me I think it s normal, I mean they have been
living like this for thousands of years and have adapted to it. I do think that
humans and orangutans can relate to the ecology behavior. For example our
human ecology is basically a short term of having an interrelationship between
humans and our social, economic and political organizations. The development of
tool use amongst the apes is truly an amazing thing seeing as for us that is
probably how we once started out as. Slowly making and building new tools for
our survival and comfort needs is really a remarkable thing. Orangutans are
beautiful creatures and we must learn as much as we can by them and other apes as
well because they teach us so much about humans and where we all fall from the tree

Managing Information Systems
The aim of this assignment is to see the requirements for developing and managing a
comprehensive Management Information system for an organisation. In today s
business environment it is getting harder and harder for organisation s to not only
survive but to compete against other organisation s. Information technology plays a
big part in helping companies compete and survive. Companies that have branches or
franchises need to make sure that they can communicate with the head office so that
orders can be passed down. Most of a mangers time is spent
1 Passing information and ideas upwards to senior management to aid their decision
making

their jobs more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regular reports help managers perform their duties for example a summary report
of sales figures of a particular period in the year would allow managers to predict
sales figures for the coming year and plan ahead. This would not only help the
manager of the store but it would also allow the person in charge of purchasing
stock, distribution, transportation, and finance to plan ahead of time as well. The
head of stock would have an idea of how much raw materials to buy, distribution
manager would have an idea of where to send it to the parts of the organisation which
are most likely to utilise it the most.
Characteristics of Management Information System
1.Management Information Systems support structured and semi structured decisions
at the operational and management control levels.
2.They are generally reporting and control oriented. They are resigned to report on
existing operations and there fore provide day to0day control operations.
3.The systems also rely on existing corporate data and data flows.
4.However Management Information Systems have little analytical capability
5.On the other hand they generally aid in decision making using past and present data

The Secret History Analysis
The second oral interpretation assignment I did was much more free in a creative
aspect than the first assignment I did, this time I was able to pick the passage
from any book and I picked my favorite book, The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
This passage was meant to entertain the audience and also convey a message, which
was the main purpose of the assignment. In addition to the passage I chose, I also
wrote a brief introduction that provided some background information about the
book and the overall message the passage was conveying. Overall, after reflecting on
the presentation, I came to the conclusion that I did a decent job on this oral
communication project but it was not as good as my first presentation. On the subject

As a performer I have gained the know.edge of how to write a brief introduction
that accurately and correctly sets up a passage and I have also overcome a lot of
my really bad stage fright which was when I would play with my hair and fidget
while presenting. Two areas I really want to focus on improving are being better
prepared and cutting my time. I will do this by practicing a lot more in front of the
mirror and in front of my dad for his advice on what to fix at least a week before
the presentation, so that I am better prepared. I will also cut my presenting time by
cutting out excess words and descriptions. After assessing my presentation, I would
give myself an A , because I did work hard, prepare and tried to improve, which
showed in my presentation. Overall I am proud of this presentation and was mostly
happy with how it turned
Key Contact Journey Essay
Explanation of the key contact journey To create the M.A.C brand key contact
journey, I did ethnographic research by spending time at various M.A.C stores. I
also interviewed various M.A.C cosmetics users and a professional M.A.C make up
artist that works in a M.A.C store in Cape Town. I asked them how they first heard
of M.A.C cosmetics, where and how they buy these products, and what they view as
the positive aspects and the negative aspects of the brand. Key contact journey:
The first point of contact for the M.A.C target audience will be word of mouth
advertising. They might hear a friend or relative talking about a M.A.C product, or
an experience at a M.A.C store.
The target audience will then visit the M.A.C website, and encounter the brand on

The customer service interaction with MAC make up artists is notably different
from other cosmetic companies. M.A.C was the first brand to invest in the training
and education of its staff as well as the customer s point of sale experience. How
consistent and coherent is the journey? My research showed that the M.A.C brand is
very well known, with men and woman of all ages and race groups. The word of
mouth marketing strategy that the company uses is extremely effective in reaching
new clients. The M.A.C brand has been strongly associated with make up. My
research showed that not a lot of the target audience uses, or are even aware, of the
M.A.C skin care line. The qualified make up artists that work at M.A.C forms a big
part of the brand success. They give the target audience a positive, interactive
experience when they visit the M.A.C store and are trained to give helpful advice,
which keeps the M.A.C consumers satisfied and brand

he was, standing by himself in the darkness. The thief approached slowly and with
caution. He was only going to get one shot at this so he had to make it count. He
messed up before and he knew better than to make the same mistake twice. He
looked around to make sure there was no one in sight. He lunged at his target
quickly and quietly blindfolding and constraining him. He took of his target s left

savor his victory before realizing his target was still squirming around in his

We explored the house, and it looked pretty normal. There was a kitchen with
normal kitchen utensils, there was a living room with normal furniture and there
was a normal backyard. We explored the house a little more unit we came across a

just off the living room that contained easels with canvases on them. Some of them

Poverty Of Sharecroppers And Unemployed Industrial
Workers
Poverty of Sharecroppers vs Unemployed Industrial Workers Poverty has been a
big issue over the past century or so and continues to be a problem to this day in
the United States. Due to the Civil War, rural areas and industrial areas were
affected by poverty. The poverty of rural sharecroppers in 1877 was different from
the poverty of unemployed industrial workers in 1939. Even though both situations
were dealing with a form of poverty, both were two completely different situations.
There were several major events that happened that caused poverty of rural
sharecroppers in 1877. Although there were various events leading up to the
poverty of unemployed industrial workers in 1939, poverty in the year of 1877 was
just as bad, if not worse, as in the year of 1939. There are several major events that
happened after the Civil War that led up to poverty. In 1865, Southern states started
issuing out black codes after the Civil War. Black codes were intended to restrain
African Americans freedom. It made it illegal for an African American to be
unemployed or to quit a job, which made them slaves even though they were getting
paid low wages. In 1866, the 14th Amendment was passed by Congress, which
granted citizenship for all Americans, not just white Americans, but African
Americans too. This Amendment got endorsed by the states, which became known as
the Reconstruction Amendment two years later in 1868. In 1870, the states were
obligated to enforce the 15th Amendment due the

Intensive Supervision Programs Essay
The intensive supervision programs are very similar to those programs utilized
within standard probation and parole (Latessa Smith, 2011). The difference is
mainly the amount of control, supervision, as well as the application of the
programs. The use of intensive supervision programs began in the mid 1900s in
California with an emphasis on the rehabilitation of the offenders. In the 1980 s the
programs become widely used to reduce prison populations with a shift in the focus
away from rehabilitation to deterrence, control, and supervision taking the forefront
(Lowenkamp et. al., 2010). The effectiveness of the intensive supervision programs
is largely dependent upon how the enforcement is administered as well as which
programs are utilized (Latessa Smith, 2011). The caseload of probation and parole
officers is often much higher than what can ideally be monitored effectively. This
creates a strain on the officials overseeing the offenders as well as increases the risk
to public safety if the offender is not receiving the supervision or treatments they
need. There have been studies conducted into the use of various intensive supervision
programs throughout the years (Lowenkamp et. al., 2010). The findings determined

The programs have failed to reduce prison populations, moreover, the cost savings
predicted from utilizing intensive supervision programs over incarceration have
proven to be substantially higher than thought (Lowenkamp et. al., 2010). The

effectiveness. The programs that focus on providing human services rather than
focusing on deterrence have proven to be more effective in the intervention of

In this type of organization can be observed few characteristics of Weber s theory
such as a clear cut division of labor, high level of specialization and the hierarchical
authority applies to offices and positions of the organization.
To coordinate and control activities in this type of organization, it is configured by
two features: horizontal and vertical differentiation. In horizontal differentiation Lego
has been grouped by functions (Finance, Sales, Human Resources, Purchase
departments etc.). But in lower levels it has been grouped by product (PMT1, PMT2,
OTC) and customer type (Toys for customers) and geographical location of

Vertical differentiation shows that this company has good span of control, latter leads
to inference that Lego s organizational structure is flat leading the structure of this

Lego is ready to deal with different kind of problems in any situation.
This organization has a lot of hierarchical levels, to control all their actions in this

organization; this chain, which results from the unity of command principle, should
be used as a channel for communication and decision

each year, in 2013 it is said that 38,708 entries were received to run in the marathon.
With such a large amount of people attending this you can see why it would be

The nation was left with unanswered questions at this point. It wasn t until later on in

Sigmund Freud Biography
Sigmund Frued, Austrian physician, neurologist, and founder of psychoanalysis.
Freud was born in Freiberg (now PrГbor, Czech Republic), on May 6, 1856, and
educated at the University of Vienna. When he was three years old his family,
fleeing from the anti Semitic riots then raging in Freiberg, moved to Leipzig.
Shortly thereafter, the family settled in Vienna, where Freud remained for most of
his life. Although Freud s ambition from childhood had been a career in law, he
decided to become a medical student shortly before he entered the University of
Vienna in 1873. Inspired by the scientific investigations of the German poet Goethe,
Freud was driven by an intense desire to study natural science and to solve some of

In his clinical observations Freud found evidence for the mental mechanisms of
repression and resistance. He described repression as a device operating
unconsciously to make the memory of painful or threatening events inaccessible
to the conscious mind. Resistance is defined as the unconscious defense against
awareness of repressed experiences in order to avoid the resulting anxiety. He
traced the operation of unconscious processes, using the free associations of the
patient to guide him in the interpretation of dreams and slips of speech. Dream
analysis led to his discoveries of infantile sexuality and of the so called Oedipus
complex, which constitutes the erotic attachment of the child for the parent of the
opposite sex, together with hostile feelings toward the other parent. In these years
he also developed the theory of transference, the process by which emotional
attitudes, established originally toward parental figures in childhood, are
transferred in later life to others. The end of this period was marked by the
appearance of Freud s most important work, The Interpretation of Dreams (1900).
Here Freud analyzed many of his own dreams recorded in the 3 year period of his
self analysis, begun in 1897. This
Conformity In Pleasantville
Pleasantville is a film about two teenagers from the 90 s who mysteriously find
themselves in a black and white 1950s television show. They become residents of
Pleasantville; a suburbia where sex doesn t exist, the high school basketball team
always wins, married couples sleep in twin beds, books have no words, and
everything is pleasant. The citizens of Pleasantville don t seem to question their
good life, until Bud and Mary Sue come along and disturb the conformity. Suddenly
parts of Pleasantville become colorful, repressed desires surface, the 50 s lifestyle is
broken apart, and its citizens lives change in a strange, yet exciting way. Some people
are opposed to the transformation, but in the end the entire town turns to color and
the citizens are liberated.
This Gary Ross film is particularly captivating because of its revolutionary use of
selective coloring. Furthermore, it broke an all time record with more than 1700
special effect shots. Not only did this film create history with its special effects, but
also utilized them in order to address very important themes of ... Show more content

In the 1950 s it was encouraged to only have sexual desires while in a marital
context. In actual sitcoms played during the 50 s including, Father Knows Best,
Leave it to Beaver, and The Dick Van Dyke Show, sex was an avoided topic. For
instance, in these shows couples slept in separate beds in order to satisfy network
censors, just like in the beginning of Pleasantville. About halfway through the film,
once the town starts becoming colorful, there is one scene where people standing
outside a store are looking at a window display of a king sized bed in complete
bewilderment. As if the thought of two people sleeping in one bed is unbelievably
outrageous. This sexual suppression is what led to the sexual liberation during the 60

Dear Rick, I am writing to you to inform you of the statutes of limitations in Texas
and my thoughts on the topic. Statutes of limitations is the time period in which a
lawsuit or other civil action must be filed, as measured from the date of the incident.
Statutes of limitations can apply to criminal cases, which prohibits prosecutors from
filing criminal after the passage of a specified number of years. The statutes differ
from state to state as well as the statutes for various types of civil actions and crimes.
The legislature of the state of Texas published official revised statutes in 1879, the...

Compare the way love is presented in Sonnet 43 and Ghazal
Both poems, Sonnet 43 and Ghazal convey emotions and passionate feelings of
love in different ways. Sonnets and Ghazals are poem that are meant to express
strong feelings of love. Khalvati and Barrett Browning chose them to illustrate their
loving feelings to their lovers. Barrett Browning does not correctly carry out all the
rules of Sonnets in her poem which gives an effect that she would do anything for
her lover and that there are no rules to their love, whereas Khalvati does not break
any of rules in Ghazal, this might, perhaps mean that her love is unrequited and that
she would follow all the rules to get the attention of the person she loves.

that her love is long lasting. The image by sun and candlelight that Barrett
Browning creates, is that her love may be ordinary like the sun, but its continuous
since the light keeps shining day and night, which is why she uses the candlelight
to represent the light she has for him is still on at night. Another image that Barrett
Browning conveys is I love thee freely, as men strive for Right, I love thee purely,
as they turn from Praise . This line shows that her love for him is of her own free
choice and she compares it to the nationalists that fight for their countries, indicating
that their love is as strong as a person s love is to their country. Barrett Browning
also says, I love thee with the passion, put to use/In my old greifs... and with my
childhood s faith here, the poet redirected her emotions from her past concerns onto
her love. She states that her she loves him with her childhood s faith, which could
mean that she loves him with unquestioning confidence, just like a naГЇve child

Mimi Khalvati uses a wide range of words and phrases that are inspired by nature.
If I am the grass and you the breeze, blow through me. Nature is a very beautiful
and passionate thing, which might explain why Khalvati chose to use it to associate

What Is The Black Magic Essay
The black magic causes many problems, people become ugly and self abased; it
causes some problems among people as well. Make up is magic because it can
make people more beautiful, and make them feel confidence, but it is also black
magic because it can also make people become ugly. When I was about 13 years
old, I attended many performances. Before the performances, teachers would help
students put on make ups. One time, the blushers were not enough for every
student, so they chose to use lipsticks to substitute blushers. I was the unlucky one
who used lipsticks as blushers. The lipsticks were sticky and rigid, so it was hard
for teachers to control. I felt my face was getting larger and hot because the teacher

Some girls always put on make ups, so it is very difficult to see their real

I looked at her and couldn t recognize who she was, so I spent some time on
looking at her face. At last, I still couldn t recognize her, so I asked, Who are you?
I found that she was very surprised because she was wincing and looked annoyed,
but she still told me who she was. We had the same class in the afternoon. I felt
extremely embarrassed and wanted to find a hole to hide myself. Every time I saw

I though lipsticks were the most beautiful crayons in the world, the designs were

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)
What is POTS? Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is a type of
dysautonomia1 that affects numerous people around the world. When diagnosing
POTS, a Tilt Table test is frequently used and the heart rate of the patient must
increase by 30 beats per minute (bpm) or more, or be over 120 bpm, within the
first 10 minutes of being placed in the vertical position from the supine position
and with an absence of orthostatic hypotension2. Patients affected with POTS may
have symptoms that range in severity. Although many POTS patients are able to
continue with typical activities, some POTS patients are not able to. For others
that are not able to fulfill a normal life, symptoms may be so severe that everyday
activities such as bathing, eating, walking, or standing can be difficult or
impossible. POTS patients have trouble changing positions because there is
decreased blood flow to the brain. When there is decreased blood flow to the brain,
it can cause severe dizziness and fainting (Garland). Many people, who have POTS,
experience presyncope. During presyncope episodes, symptoms are similar to a faint
but no loss of consciousness is experienced (Pots ). POTS patients can also have
severe pain that is debilitating. Sometimes POTS patients will have other diseases or
complications along with POTS that disables them.
The Temperature of Poetry
The Temperature of Poetry
Poetry is one of the stranger parts of the literary world. A poem can be anything,
from a three lined poem known as a haiku to a giant epic poem like the The
Odyssey. They can be rhyming or non rhyming, long or short, sensible or
nonsensical. Even lyrics in songs can be considered poetry, seeing as how they are
rhyming and flow so well. The parameters for a poem are wide, the requirements
few; but no matter what kind of poem you read, from Homer to Doctor Seuss to
John Mayer, symbolism is the driving force behind it all. Symbolism is the basis
for almost every piece of poetry written so far, barring some of the works of Doctor
Seuss. One recurring piece of symbolism found throughout the literary world is the
use of temperature. The warmth of the sun or a comforting smile, the cold of night or
a dark hospital room, temperature plays a part in many poems and plays its part
well. But the part it plays can vary from writer to writer, poem to poem. The three
major uses of temperatures though are to show the warmth of memory versus the
harsh cold of reality, the warmth of comfort, and how warmth is used to show life
and vitality while cold is used to signify harshness and cruelty.
The first two poems to discuss are I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William
Wordsworth and Disabled by Wilfred Owen. These two poems are very different in
their subject, but their usage of temperature in the form of memory gives them a
common denominator. Both speak of
The Discovery Of Gene Therapy
The word science comes from the Latin word to know (Science Made Simple, 2014).
In
1953, Watson and Crick discovered one of the biggest mysteries of the human
body; the DNA double helix (Nobel Prize.org, 2014). The discovery reshaped
biology and the way scientists viewed how biological information was stored and
processed (Nobel Prize. org, 2014). Once the double helix was discovered new
information about genes and protein synthesis quickly followed
(NLM, 2014). This new knowledge about genes made scientists look at the
biological processes in new ways (Nobel Prize.org, 2014). One of the biggest
breakthroughs was the development
Gene Therapy. This paper will demonstrate how Gene Therapyis an important step in
revolutionizing medicine and treating disease. It is believed that Gene Therapy holds
the key to permanently curing disease.
Gene Therapy Researchers have been trying to find new ways to cure disease for
centuries. Gene Therapy seems to hold the key to make this a reality. Gene
Therapy is still in its early stages and is still considered an experimental technique
(NLM, 2014). Yet it holds the ability to treat and prevent disease (NLM, 2014). The
procedure uses a corrected gene and inserts it into a person instead of using drugs or
surgery (NLM, 2014). There are different techniques of Gene Therapy which could
include replacing mutated genes with healthy genes or even introducing new genes
into the body to help fight disease
Contemporary Environmentalism
Contemporary environmentalism and wilderness culture are often fraught with
controversy, saddled with remnants of obsolete ideas which continue to hinder their
effectiveness and reception. Firstly, the dominant environmental paradigm is
fashioned in part from a mechanistic worldview, a relic of Enlightenment thinking
that espouses scientific objectivity. It relies on an underlying dichotomy of wilderness
and civilization, and implies superior significance of humans over Nature.
Furthermore, it preserves the racist tone of early conservationism.
Much of contemporary environmentalism stems from a mechanistic worldview.
Characterized by scientific objectivity, it regards the claims, methods and results of
science as undisputable, thus giving rise to the notion of scientific knowledge as
power. This is best typified by the mind body dualism of Descartes which
distinguishes the scientific, rational mind as on a higher realm than the natural body.
Similarly, Haraway defines Absolute Objectivity as an external, disembodied point
of view that provides an absolute and hence, irrefutable perspective on a given issue.
It regards the scientific gaze as an omniscient observer, while the object of inquiry is
passive and stable . This has staggering consequences for environmentalism. Firstly, it
implies a calculability of the world. Adorno and Horkheimer lament that Mythology
has entered the profane , symbolizing the disdain the mechanistic mind possesses for

Qing Dao Short Story
Once upon a time, a kind old fisherman lived with his daughter on an island. One
day, the Dragon King kidnapped the daughter and brought her to his palace. The
poor fisherman stood by the ocean calling out to the sea day by day, for years. It
made the Dragon King angry so he cast a spell on him causing the man to slowly
turn into a rock. After the daughter heard what the Dragon King had done, she
escaped the palace and ran towards her father who has now turned into a rock. The
ocean breeze blew the flowers in her hair onto the island, making plants grow.
When she is near Lao mountain, the Dragon King put a spell on her too and turned
her into a giant reef. From that day on, the father and daughter can only look at
each other from across the sea, unable to meet. This is the story of Old Man Rock,
one of the unique and beautiful sites in Qing Dao. On the east side of Chinais a small

Economic Liberalization Of The United Arab Emirates

Research Paper
Research Question: Has economic liberalization been occurring in the UAE?
Economic Liberalization in the United Arab Emirates
The economy in the United Arab Emirates has experienced substantial increases in
the last 40 years. The UAE s capabilities with the pearling and oil industries have
given the region its necessary budgets to expand so rapidly. The economic policies
in the UAE have gone through stages, since the birth of the region in 1971. Changes
in economic welfare of the markets, and privatization policies are also key aspects in
understanding the UAE s economic liberalization and growth. In order to understand
the UAE s economic standard, economic liberalization must be analyzed. The
argument of this paper will discuss how economic liberalization has occurred in the
United Arab Emirates and is continuing to grow. Economic liberalization is the
openness of free trade, privatization of public services, and minimal regulations over
markets. Economic growth is the increase in GDP from the markets. The two terms
connect together for the UAE due to the economic growth allowing economic
liberalization to flourish in the region to keep up with the modernity occurring. With
economic growth increasing rapidly, the UAE has felt it necessary to liberalize its
economy in order to diversify its region and allow for more opportunities domestically
and internationally. In the United Arab Emirates, economic liberalization would

The main objective of Mario Draghi is to inject money directly into the euro zone
economy; hopefully this will boost the economies in the Eurozone if the target of 2%
inflation is met. Essentially, if the inflation rate is above 2%, then the Bank will have
to reduce the pace of spending and decrease the inflation in order to maintain the 2%
criteria. In comparison, if the inflation is below the minimum percentage, it decreases
the bank rate to the extent of boost of inflation and spending.
Conversely, on behalf of a member of the ECB board of governors, applying
quantitative easing within the Eurozone is seen as a very unbalanced approach,
unbalanced approach in terms of effecting financial activities and may be beneficial
for some countries in the Eurozone. Nevertheless, the Germans may see
Quantitative Easing as an ineffective monetary policy regarding that, if the
European Central Bank (ECB) purchase governments or corporate bonds from high
debt countries then the German taxpayers will face a risk of having to foot the bill.
This occurs if one or more of these countries default on their debt. Also, it will create
a loss on the balance sheet of the ECB. The other member countries in the euro zone,
especially Germany, will then have to step in to cover the loss (De Grauwe, 2015).
Mario Draghi believes that the programme of bond buying is an important financial
approach to circumvent the Eurozone from a deflationary situation. Whereas, the

After reading the material I believe the reason church planting is not the center of
some churches today is they fact that they are spending all their time and resources
on trying to keep a older church alive that is failing and unsuccessful. The other
reason I think church planting has taken a back seat is because many people believe
that there are enough churches already in the area and that there is no need for a
new church plant. Which is not always the case because their may be a certain group
of people you may be able to reach through a plant that would never consider

Fate Or Free Will Controls Human Lives
Generally, fate refers to the development of events beyond a person s control
(Aurobindo). As such, a fatalist is a person who believes that whatever happens is,
and always was, unavoidable. Moreover, such a person strongly believes that he or
she has no control over what happens the next moment, tomorrow, next year, or
several years to come. Free will, on the other hand, is formed by the power of
sanction (Aurobindo). In other words, it is consent by the spirit that it shall not be
bound but that its enjoyment should be bound by time, space, and causality and by
the swabhava and the dharma (Aurobindo). To determine whether fate or free will
controls human lives, it is important to objectively analyse, synthesizes, and respond
to the critical conversation that the authors of class readings seem to be engaging
with regard to this subject. In connection to this, humanity has been fascinated by
fate and free will for a long time. Some philosophers in the Ancient Greek and the
Middle Ages believed that free will influenced human destiny while others believed
that fate was responsible for what befell mankind.
The theme of fate conspicuously permeates Homer s famous poem, Ilad, from the
first to the last sentence. The author asserts that death is a natural and unavoidable
part of human existence from the onset by affirming that Akhilleus anger is doomed
and ruinous. In this regard, fate but not free will defines consciousness in the Trojan
War. Although everybody
Elder Scrolls
The Elder Scrolls series are some of the best game series of all time in my opinion,
and that includes the soundtracks as well. I have enjoyed the Elder Scrolls for a
very long time, starting with Elder Scrolls 2 Daggerfall and have continued to play
them all the way through the new series Legends. The games have such a great
way of immersing you into the world that they are trying to portray in any given
time. One of my personal favorite moments was from the ESV whenever you are
finished fighting the first dragon and you absorb its soul in order to gain its power
through your dragon blood. Not only does it make for a very epic moment, the
musical score reflects the gravity of the situation and the importance that your life as

Students who attend public school also tend to do better when they get to college.
Even when the funding for school becomes difficult, public school offers more
extracurricular activities and resources. There are several after school programs
available for children, his is another way that your child learn social skills by
interacting. The number of students in a public school classroom provides
opportunities that don t exist in most home schools, from large scale projects to
team sports. One may offer a more controlled environment for your child, while the
other may expose him or her to a world of things you could not possibly imagine.
Homeschooling, while sometimes more fun, simply cannot be guaranteed to
uphold the necessary educational standards. Public schools will always meet these
standards. You may find it difficult to choose between the two. Making the right
choice depends upon how your child learns, and what you won t them to learn.

pay and not giving enough funding for materials, but they still seem to make a way
to teach our children morals. Some teachers in public school even take time out to
help some of the children that they see are headed for a road of destruction. The
difference are really plain as day, homeschooling cuts them off from society and
public school bridges them with the society so they can be able to face
Essay on Battlefield in the Ukraine
Battlefield an etude. Inspired by the recent events of February 2014 in Kiev,
Ukraine. A vision... a man is standing lit by a bleak sun under a grey sky... he
stands at the crevice, which is filled with body parts, which seem to be human but
at the same time to have come from toy humans. A man takes random people,
pushes them towards this huge hole, throws them down... and they fall, slowly, as if
the rules of physics do not apply. Once they reach the bottom, they fall apart as
unrealistically as they were descending. One thing was clear that man was killing all
those random people. There was no reason, no motivation or goal. Just the gruesome
process. I suddenly wake up. I am trying to understand where I am and what is
happening. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is scary to realize that it is a war. A war in a place where I used to walk freely
with friends, family, and loved ones, not fearing for my own life. For this is
downtown, crime activity is low here. Police will protect me, and take care of me.
Only now, it was police who was firing at me, perceiving me as an enemy. It is
immensely scary that everything has suddenly become so real: not just a piece of
news on television or the Internet, but a real time 3D experience, in which any
wrong move can result in the permanent final end of life, losing the privilege to
find out how this war will end. I am sitting behind the tree while the brain breaks
everything up in segments. One part of the mind attempts to evaluate the defense
of the body as well as any damage. Another part recalls every single moment of the
past several minutes: from the tiniest crack in a random stone to all drops of blood
on the pavement. The third part tries to analyze the overall situation and to choose
the best moment for escape. This part is the most dangerous. It sent many people
towards an untimely end in a last grasp for life, the last attempt to make an escape.
All of the above was scary and yet fear was subdued. It was such a rollercoaster of
emotions and feelings that I was not able to experience any feeling fully for a
certain time. Not more than several hours ago I was looking at my friend, laughing my

The coastline of Colombia extends for about 1760 km (about 1090 mi) along the
Caribbean and for about 1450 km (about 900 mi) along the Pacific. River mouths
along the coasts are numerous, but no good natural harbors exist.
AClimate Colombia lies almost entirely in the Torrid Zone, a meteorological term
denoting the areas of the earth s surface between the tropic of Cancer and the tropic
of Capricorn. The climate, however, varies with the elevation. The low regions along
the coast and the deep PatГa and Magdalena river valleys are torrid, with average

m (about 1500 to 7500 ft) the climate is subtropical, and from about 2300 to 3000
m (about 7500 to 10,000 ft) it is temperate. Above about 3000 m (about 10,000 ft) is
the cold climate zone, where temperatures range from 18В° to 13В° C (0В° to 55В°

(57В° F). The averages for the same months in Barranquilla are 27В° C (80В° F) and
28В° C (82В° F).
Throughout the year, three month periods of rain and dry weather alternate. Along
the Pacific coast precipitation is heavy. At BogotГЎ the annual rainfall averages
about 1060 mm (about 42 in), and in Barranquilla it averages about 800 mm (about
32 in). Dry weather prevails on the slopes of the Cordillera Oriental.

Mary Queen Of Scots By William Shakespeare
Mary I of England, not to be confused with her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, is
most commonly referred to as one of the most, if not the most vicious and blood
thirsty monarchs in English history and few of them have been given reputations
as infamous as hers. Mary was obsessed with the quest to return England from the
Protestant Church of England to its Catholic tradition during her three year reign
as Queen of England. Mary s insistence on creating a Catholic English nation
stemmed from resentment held for her father King Henry VIII s decision to break
away and create his own religion, harboring the Reformation period. These reforms
were ultimately reversed under Mary, who was determined to achieve her goals at
any cost. Mary was not afraid to remove anyone who stood in her path of reform.
Fueled by her loyalty and love for the Catholic Church, Mary s reputation and
legacy of Bloody Mary was created as she sought to create her Catholic nation, at
the expense of the hundreds of Protestants that were murdered under her reign.
Born on February 18, 1516, Mary Tudor was the fifth child but the only child of
Henry Tudor VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon who survived to live until
adulthood (Doran). She was baptized soon after her birth and was raised in the
Catholic tradition of her mother. Mary was sent off by her father to live in Wales,
and was constantly set up for marriages with princes and other nobility. She was
taught by an English tutor was a prolific student

  • 2. General Positivism And The Interpretive Paradigm Part 1: Purpose a)Social Science Research Paradigm The social science paradigm also known as Post positivism consists of testing hypothesis and research questions that are developed through reasoning. This is done through measurements and observation. Social scientists aspire to science and they seek to study human behaviour, interaction and thought in an organized way; which we can then measure, generalize and replicate. Like any research, post positivism needs to be backed up by evidence. When a social science research sets out a research project, it is their goal to find evidence that can either agree or disagree with the hypothesis or theories. Post positivism, compared to positivism allows more interaction with the participants of the research project and seeks to highlight the relationship between universal properties between the variables. The best way to understand post positivism is by comparing it to positivism and the interpretive paradigm. Compared to positivism, post positivism is more tolerant for value based information, however is not focused on qualitative information like the interpretive paradigm, instead the research is mainly focused on quantitative data. b) Literature Review Students are now busier than ever, according to the survey conducted by the New Zealand Union of Students Association, 63% of students are working while at university, with an average of 25 hours a week (2010), this causes clashes when it comes to arranging physical group

You walk into the office and your coworkers are sporting hot pink shirts and buttons. After lunch your boss calls a team meeting because Katherine was just diagnosed with breast cancer, the third coworker this year, so he rallies the troops to support her by baking a dozen for the cure and wearing even morepink tomorrow. you come home exhausted from the day and put on Monday night football to sell all of your favorite athletes, wearing what other than pink. • 4. The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living b) The unexamined life is not worth living , quoted Socrates. It appears that, following his brilliant logic, the key to living philosophically is exactly how one interprets and scrutinizes their own life in a philosophical context. As with the nature of philosophy itself, living philosophically is also ambiguous, and it could very well be that one lives philosophically even if they do not necessarily realize it. Take, for instance, a person who questions why humans and all life forms must die; or one who ponders their true meaning in life are they not thinking philosophically? Regardless of whether or not they actually study philosophy, they are still critically thinking about the nature of being and existence in an interpretive, between the lines way. If they genuinely reach a conclusion about these topics, they can expand upon them by applying them towards real world scenarios in effect, they would truly live philosophically every day. One may argue that individuals need not actively think about philosophical themes, but rather, perform and apply those ideas subconsciously into their lives. It thus should be valid that a person who is being in the world , living around an intensely dedicated focal practice in a hobby or profession, lives philosophically as well. In this case, their entire self, style, and genuine, original being, is imprinted upon their particular art or craft. They do not merely mold themselves into their work, but they essentially become

Hawaiian Monarchy Research Paper The Overthrow According to Hawaii s Monarchy Overthrown With U.S. Support, 120 Years Ago, a group of wealthy businessmen and sugar plantation owners worked with U.S. troops to overthrow the Hawaiian Kingdom. The overthrow took place on January 17, 1893 and was what had caused the end of the Hawaiian monarchy. However, this event did not happen over the course of a day, it was the result of a multitude of different events that benefited foreign blood. For example, American and European men were the owners of sugar plantations and most businesses in Hawaii. The Reciprocity Treaty of 1875, the Great Mahele, the Rebellion of 1887 and the Bayonet Constitution, and the Wilcox Rebellion of 1888 are also some of the events that lead to the overthrow. Their goal was to reform the monarchy politically as well as economically. During the depressing time Hawaii officially became the 50th state, what Hawaiians did not realize was that they benefited politically, economically, and socially. Hawaii was now protected with a stronger military force, many more job opportunities opened up, the culture in Hawaii became diversified, and Hawaii also gained wider contacts from other countries. However, Hawaii did lose its original, unique culture with more people from foreign lands coming to visit Hawaii. Also, according to NPR s article It Took Two Centuries, But The Native Hawaiian Population May Be Bouncing Back, from around the 1880s to the 1900s, about the Hawaiian population decreased by over 600, 000 people. This was mostly due to the foreign

The difference is mainly the amount of control, supervision, as well as the application of the programs. The use of intensive supervision programs began in the mid 1900s in California with an emphasis on the rehabilitation of the offenders. In the 1980 s the programs become widely used to reduce prison populations with a shift in the focus away from rehabilitation to deterrence, control, and supervision taking the forefront (Lowenkamp et. al., 2010). The effectiveness of the intensive supervision programs is largely dependent upon how the enforcement is administered as well as which programs are utilized (Latessa Smith, 2011). The caseload of probation and parole officers is often much higher than what can ideally be monitored effectively. This creates a strain on the officials overseeing the offenders as well as increases the risk to public safety if the offender is not receiving the supervision or treatments they need. He described repression as a device operating unconsciously to make the memory of painful or threatening events inaccessible to the conscious mind. Resistance is defined as the unconscious defense against awareness of repressed experiences in order to avoid the resulting anxiety. He traced the operation of unconscious processes, using the free associations of the patient to guide him in the interpretation of dreams and slips of speech. Dream analysis led to his discoveries of infantile sexuality and of the so called Oedipus complex, which constitutes the erotic attachment of the child for the parent of the opposite sex, together with hostile feelings toward the other parent. In these years he also developed the theory of transference, the process by which emotional attitudes, established originally toward parental figures in childhood, are transferred in later life to others. The end of this period was marked by the appearance of Freud s most important work, The Interpretation of Dreams (1900). Here Freud analyzed many of his own dreams recorded in the 3 year period of his self analysis, begun in 1897. This

At last, I still couldn t recognize her, so I asked, Who are you? I found that she was very surprised because she was wincing and looked annoyed, but she still told me who she was. We had the same class in the afternoon. I felt extremely embarrassed and wanted to find a hole to hide myself. Every time I saw her, I would think make ups will change a person a lot, and I would leave immediately. There was a bad story about lipsticks as well. When I was a little kid, I though lipsticks were the most beautiful crayons in the world, the designs were all different, so my mother s lipsticks got my interest. I used these pretty lipsticks to draw on the paper. When my mother needed to use lipsticks, she would know that I used her cosmetics again, so she would call my name loudly and started stamping her feet. The end of this story is that I stood on the corner of the room and cried alone. Until now, my mother will always tell me this story when she sees

When diagnosing POTS, a Tilt Table test is frequently used and the heart rate of the patient must increase by 30 beats per minute (bpm) or more, or be over 120 bpm, within the first 10 minutes of being placed in the vertical position from the supine position and with an absence of orthostatic hypotension2. Patients affected with POTS may have symptoms that range in severity. Although many POTS patients are able to continue with typical activities, some POTS patients are not able to. For others that are not able to fulfill a normal life, symptoms may be so severe that everyday activities such as bathing, eating, walking, or standing can be difficult or impossible. POTS patients have trouble changing positions because there is decreased blood flow to the brain. When there is decreased blood flow to the brain, it can cause severe dizziness and fainting (Garland). Many people, who have POTS, experience presyncope. During presyncope episodes, symptoms are similar to a faint but no loss of consciousness is experienced (Pots ). POTS patients can also have severe pain that is debilitating. Sometimes POTS patients will have other diseases or complications along with POTS that disables them.
  • 27. The Temperature of Poetry The Temperature of Poetry Poetry is one of the stranger parts of the literary world. A poem can be anything, from a three lined poem known as a haiku to a giant epic poem like the The Odyssey. They can be rhyming or non rhyming, long or short, sensible or nonsensical. Even lyrics in songs can be considered poetry, seeing as how they are rhyming and flow so well. The parameters for a poem are wide, the requirements few; but no matter what kind of poem you read, from Homer to Doctor Seuss to John Mayer, symbolism is the driving force behind it all. Symbolism is the basis for almost every piece of poetry written so far, barring some of the works of Doctor Seuss. One recurring piece of symbolism found throughout the literary world is the use of temperature. The warmth of the sun or a comforting smile, the cold of night or a dark hospital room, temperature plays a part in many poems and plays its part well. But the part it plays can vary from writer to writer, poem to poem. The three major uses of temperatures though are to show the warmth of memory versus the harsh cold of reality, the warmth of comfort, and how warmth is used to show life and vitality while cold is used to signify harshness and cruelty. The first two poems to discuss are I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth and Disabled by Wilfred Owen. These two poems are very different in their subject, but their usage of temperature in the form of memory gives them a common denominator. Both speak of

In 1953, Watson and Crick discovered one of the biggest mysteries of the human body; the DNA double helix (Nobel Prize.org, 2014). The discovery reshaped biology and the way scientists viewed how biological information was stored and processed (Nobel Prize. org, 2014). Once the double helix was discovered new information about genes and protein synthesis quickly followed (NLM, 2014). This new knowledge about genes made scientists look at the biological processes in new ways (Nobel Prize.org, 2014). One of the biggest breakthroughs was the development Gene Therapy. This paper will demonstrate how Gene Therapyis an important step in revolutionizing medicine and treating disease. It is believed that Gene Therapy holds the key to permanently curing disease. Gene Therapy Researchers have been trying to find new ways to cure disease for centuries. Gene Therapy seems to hold the key to make this a reality. Gene Therapy is still in its early stages and is still considered an experimental technique (NLM, 2014). Yet it holds the ability to treat and prevent disease (NLM, 2014). The procedure uses a corrected gene and inserts it into a person instead of using drugs or surgery (NLM, 2014). There are different techniques of Gene Therapy which could include replacing mutated genes with healthy genes or even introducing new genes into the body to help fight disease
  • 29. Contemporary Environmentalism Contemporary environmentalism and wilderness culture are often fraught with controversy, saddled with remnants of obsolete ideas which continue to hinder their effectiveness and reception. Firstly, the dominant environmental paradigm is fashioned in part from a mechanistic worldview, a relic of Enlightenment thinking that espouses scientific objectivity. It relies on an underlying dichotomy of wilderness and civilization, and implies superior significance of humans over Nature. Furthermore, it preserves the racist tone of early conservationism. Much of contemporary environmentalism stems from a mechanistic worldview. Characterized by scientific objectivity, it regards the claims, methods and results of science as undisputable, thus giving rise to the notion of scientific knowledge as power. This is best typified by the mind body dualism of Descartes which distinguishes the scientific, rational mind as on a higher realm than the natural body. Similarly, Haraway defines Absolute Objectivity as an external, disembodied point of view that provides an absolute and hence, irrefutable perspective on a given issue. It regards the scientific gaze as an omniscient observer, while the object of inquiry is passive and stable . This has staggering consequences for environmentalism. Firstly, it implies a calculability of the world. Adorno and Horkheimer lament that Mythology has entered the profane , symbolizing the disdain the mechanistic mind possesses for mystical

The main objective of Mario Draghi is to inject money directly into the euro zone economy; hopefully this will boost the economies in the Eurozone if the target of 2% inflation is met. Essentially, if the inflation rate is above 2%, then the Bank will have to reduce the pace of spending and decrease the inflation in order to maintain the 2% criteria. In comparison, if the inflation is below the minimum percentage, it decreases the bank rate to the extent of boost of inflation and spending. Conversely, on behalf of a member of the ECB board of governors, applying quantitative easing within the Eurozone is seen as a very unbalanced approach, unbalanced approach in terms of effecting financial activities and may be beneficial for some countries in the Eurozone. Nevertheless, the Germans may see Quantitative Easing as an ineffective monetary policy regarding that, if the European Central Bank (ECB) purchase governments or corporate bonds from high debt countries then the German taxpayers will face a risk of having to foot the bill. This occurs if one or more of these countries default on their debt. Also, it will create a loss on the balance sheet of the ECB. The other member countries in the euro zone, especially Germany, will then have to step in to cover the loss (De Grauwe, 2015). Mario Draghi believes that the programme of bond buying is an important financial approach to circumvent the Eurozone from a deflationary situation. Whereas, the Germans fear

  • 36. Fate Or Free Will Controls Human Lives Generally, fate refers to the development of events beyond a person s control (Aurobindo). As such, a fatalist is a person who believes that whatever happens is, and always was, unavoidable. Moreover, such a person strongly believes that he or she has no control over what happens the next moment, tomorrow, next year, or several years to come. Free will, on the other hand, is formed by the power of sanction (Aurobindo). In other words, it is consent by the spirit that it shall not be bound but that its enjoyment should be bound by time, space, and causality and by the swabhava and the dharma (Aurobindo). To determine whether fate or free will controls human lives, it is important to objectively analyse, synthesizes, and respond to the critical conversation that the authors of class readings seem to be engaging with regard to this subject. In connection to this, humanity has been fascinated by fate and free will for a long time. Some philosophers in the Ancient Greek and the Middle Ages believed that free will influenced human destiny while others believed that fate was responsible for what befell mankind. The theme of fate conspicuously permeates Homer s famous poem, Ilad, from the first to the last sentence. The author asserts that death is a natural and unavoidable part of human existence from the onset by affirming that Akhilleus anger is doomed and ruinous. In this regard, fate but not free will defines consciousness in the Trojan War. Although everybody

Mary Queen Of Scots By William Shakespeare Mary I of England, not to be confused with her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, is most commonly referred to as one of the most, if not the most vicious and blood thirsty monarchs in English history and few of them have been given reputations as infamous as hers. Mary was obsessed with the quest to return England from the Protestant Church of England to its Catholic tradition during her three year reign as Queen of England. Mary s insistence on creating a Catholic English nation stemmed from resentment held for her father King Henry VIII s decision to break away and create his own religion, harboring the Reformation period. These reforms were ultimately reversed under Mary, who was determined to achieve her goals at any cost. Mary was not afraid to remove anyone who stood in her path of reform. Fueled by her loyalty and love for the Catholic Church, Mary s reputation and legacy of Bloody Mary was created as she sought to create her Catholic nation, at the expense of the hundreds of Protestants that were murdered under her reign. Born on February 18, 1516, Mary Tudor was the fifth child but the only child of Henry Tudor VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon who survived to live until adulthood (Doran). She was baptized soon after her birth and was raised in the Catholic tradition of her mother. Mary was sent off by her father to live in Wales, and was constantly set up for marriages with princes and other nobility. She was taught by an English tutor was a prolific student
