Daedalus And Icarus By Anthony Van Dyck
The painting Daedalus and Icarus by Anthony van Dyck, (located in the AGO s European section)
visually represents a few concepts we have covered in our Adolescent Development and Health
course, such as the conflicts that arise between parents and their adolescent children in the Steinberg
and Morris article: Adolescent Development .
Van Dyck s painting captures the subtleties of adolescent naivety, Icarus hand gesture can be argued as
being like the contemporary shoulder shrug and eye roll of a teenager as their parent warns or lecture
them. His eyes look towards the viewer, rather than to his father, as Daedalus points upwards, warning
him not to fly too close to the sun, or his wings will melt and he will fall to his death ( Classic

Boxer Rebellion Dbq
How would you feel if innocent citizens were being attacked for no apparent reason? How would you
feel if another country controlled who you traded with? These are very important questions in history
that are still unanswered today. America should have intervened in the Boxer Rebellion because they
offered the Open Door Policy but the Chinese started the rebellion, attacked innocent people, and we
needed to show the Chinese who had the power.
Furthermore, American government offered a Chinese open door policy to the rest of the world. But,
after the Chinese heard of this new policy, they weren t happy. The Chinese began to train people to be
what was known as a boxer, then decided to rebel against America. The following day, Qing Empress
Dowager Tzu u Hzi (or Cixi, 1835 1908) declared a war on all foreign nations with diplomatic ties in
China (History.com). This shows that America should ve intervened because they re the ones who
proposed the policy in the first place.
Continuing on that idea, the Chinese trained men to become boxers which, then started attacking
innocent people. An anti foreign movement known as the Boxer Rebellion, named for the martial
artists that led the movement, gathered strength, and began attacking foreign ... Show more content on

Persuasive Essay On March Madness
4 Reasons Why You Should Watch March Madness
When it comes to March Madness, like most things, there are those who get it and those who don t.
However, unlike other annual sports events, there is more to March Madness than meets the eye. For
those who have no plans of watching the upcoming March Madness, here are four reasons why you
should.
The pressure
With most sports, teams have plenty of chances to compete before they are kicked out of a
tournament. With NCAA March Madness, on the other hand, players only get one shot at the game
after which they are sent home. That kind of pressure is what makes it so amazing. It is a do or die
moment, and they battle it out with all they ve got. It is nerve racking to watch the games, especially
since any of the teams can be winners. The nerves, pressure, and adrenaline rush are a definite reason
why you should watch the event.
The brackets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Picking out brackets is such a huge deal, Trump received criticism for refusing to do so on ESPN like
his predecessor. Brackets are a lively way for fans to get involved with the game without having to go
to the actual matches or playing in the games. While some people do this professionally to earn some
money, most people do it for fun and the spirit of the game. There s something very thrilling about
watching your predictions come true just as you predicted they would.
The passion
Unlike professional basketball like in the NBA, NCAA March Madness is played by college students
for nothing but the glory of the game. Young people come together in the spirit of sportsmanship and
play to their heart s content. In this games, the players don t get paid, and you only get one shot at
every turn. Nevertheless, they come out and play with everything they have. If not for the game itself,
you should watch March Madness to admire the passion and dedication of the players.

Prussia s Influence On The World s Foundational...
Prussia was a kingdom that existed nearly half a millennium ago as a patchwork of territorial
fragments, with no significant resources founded yet or a coherent culture. With its capital in Berlin,
Prussia grew from being a small, poor, disregarded medieval state into one of the most vigorous and
powerful nations in Europe. 1 Prussia s involvement in the continent s foundational religious and
political conflagrations. From the devastations of the Thirty Years War through centuries of political
machinations to the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. From the enlightenment of Frederick the
Great to the destructive conquests of Napoleon. Then from the Iron and Blood policies of Bismarck to
the creation of the German Empire in 1871, and all that implied for the tumultuous twentieth century.
Prussia s government was monarchical from the 1700s all the way to the Great War. During all that
time it increasingly valued a strong, formidable army, but was not so formidable when it met
Napoleon during the Coalition Wars. It put forth effort in training and spending much of its money
towards weapons and uniforms. The military technology and strategy of Prussia during 1860s and
1870s was outstanding. Especially with the mind of Otto von Bismarck (1815 1898) leading the way
against Denmark, and later Austria, and then with his sneaky tactics he used against France before the
Franco Prussian war in 1870.
Prior to the unification in 1871, Germany was made up of thirty nine

Burn rate study on Alliant (Green dot) smokeless shotgun powder and KClO4 Shalom AJ Cohen
Philadelphia community college 11/2010 Abstract: The purpose of this project is to measure if
differing amounts of potassium perchlorate, KCIO4, mixed with shotgun powder has an effect on burn
rate. The experiment was videotaped and the duration of burn time for each amount used was
recorded. KClO4, amounts ranging from .2g to 2g, were added to 4g of shotgun powder. A steel pipe
that is ½ inch wide and 6 inch, which is welded vertically to a steel plate base was used for
confinement. Ignition occurred from the top down. The hypothesis that was accepted is that the
concentration of KClO4 will accelerate the burn rate of smokeless flake powder. ... Show more

The burn rate of the mixture was recorded with a video camera and the results recorded and timed.
The resulting footage was reviewed and the duration of the combustion noted on a tenth of a second
basis. 4 grams of Alliant Green Dot double base smokeless flake powder with no KClO4 added was
also recorded twice in the same manner, to give a baseline burn time and averaged. Raw Data Gun

4 g of Alliant, Green Dot double base smokeless powder with no KClO4 was 1.94 seconds. The burn
rate with KClO4 ranged from 1.23 to 2. 76 seconds. 4 out of 7 tests provided results where the burning
rate of the mixture were accelerated when KClO4 where added to the shotgun powder. Two tests
showed a slight decline in the burn rate. The final test using 1g showed a decline in burn rate by 0.82
seconds. The declines might have been caused by residual shotgun powder from a previous test. It
would have been desirable to repeat the 1g test in order to

Queen Kapiolani In Hawaii
Queen Kapiolani was a gentle queen whose main concern was the people of Hawaii. She was
determined to make sure the people of Hawaii were taken care of and that they will one day get their
homes and justice back. She took every opportunity she could take to ensure the security of her
people. She did everything she could in her power to make a better future for her people. Her and her
husband were determined to not give the Hawaiian Kingdom to the United States. Kapiolani was born

on February 12, 1883 at the Iolani Palace. Kalakaua hoped that once day in the future the foreign
people leave and the Hawaiian people will be left in peace. Kapiolani did everything she could in her
power to help her people. She established the, now called, Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and
Children. This hospital was dedicated to help the Hawaiian mothers and babies. She dedicated her
time and energy into this hospital. She even became the first Queen to visit the White House, hooping
to bring attention to Hawaii. Queen Kapiolani was so determined that she decided she would never
speak English and only speak Hawaiian. Princess Liliuokalani became her interpreter. King Kalakaua

My Reading Experience
Laying on my comfortable bed under my warm covers with a chapter book in front of my face, I
turned to the last page.
It was a suc cess ful successful day, read the final line in the book.
My heart began to race as my eyes grew wide like an owl s. Had I really just read a whole chapter
book by myself? I sprung out of my bed and ran to go tell my mom.
Mommy, I just finished reading a chapter book all by myself! I exclaimed with a wide smile plastered
on my face.
I m so proud of you! my mother responded. I knew that you could do it! My mom gave me a huge
hug. At that moment, I realized that all of the long hours of practicing and reading had paid off. I
could finally read a chapter book.
Since I was young, my parents made reading a priority for me. When I was in kindergarten at my
preschool, I had a reading teacher who worked one on one with me to increase my level. As a result, I
was confident in my reading ability and excited for the first day of first grade at my new red bricked
elementary school. As I briskly walked through the main entrance and to my classroom the morning of
the first day, I squeezed my parents hands tightly with butterflies in my stomach. I had only been
inside the school one other time, at Meet the Teacher night, so I was still unsure of what to expect. We
found my classroom and put my pink polka dot backpack and matching lunchbox on the hook below
my cubby right inside the door. After finding my desk and sitting in my chair, my parents gave me

Elie Wiesel s Experience In Night And Life Is Beautiful
Night Life is Beautiful There are many similarities and differences between Elie s experience in a
concentration camp and what Joshua experienced. Throughout the book and movie you were able to
take note of these comparisons and contrasts. For example, the age difference, their first impression of
the camps and overall, there main thought of the camps in the end.
Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when he first arrived at a concentration camp. Joshua, though was
five to six years old. They both were sent away to a camp. Therefore, this shows how their
experiences with the camp are very different compared to the other. A similarity relating in how they
look at things was their first impression of the train. Both of the boys had no idea ... Show more

Elie needed to pass the tests given every so often to see who was fit to go on, and not be killed
because they were too weak to carry on. Joshua has continued to play the game and follow the rules
given out by his father. Stay hidden, do not ask for a snack, do not speak unless told to. These were a
few of the rules given out in order to receive points. Elie and his father were forced to move from
camp many times. Joshua and his father however, stayed in one place. Elie and his father also had a
great variety of jobs they had to do in order to receive food. Joshua did not work, his father did
though. The one, same job. A similarity though, was the friends involved during their time in the
camp. Both sons had friends and peers during either a short time. Joshua had the Jewish children in
the very beginning who he played with, until they took them away and he had to hide after. Elie had
work friends and companions he talked to. Many times they were either separated, killed or died. The
ending of both the movie and the book were similar in certain things. In both camps they were
liberated by the American soldiers. In the movie after they were liberated, the surviving prisoners has
to walk in a line to wherever safety was. In the book however, the prisoners were given provisions
immediately. When they ran out of them, the soldiers went back into the town and get more to help the

Analysis Of Kevin Hart Like Ride Along 2
Honestly, I m starting to wonder if there should be a law against creating sequels to horrible
predecessors. I know. I know. That s ridiculous. But that doesn t change the fact that nobody asked for
another Ride Along. The first film was cheesy, unimaginative, and the partnership between Kevin Hart
and Ice Cube was mediocre at best. At the same time, though the cop comedy managed to gross a little
more than $150 million worldwide, produced against a conservative budget of $25 million.
By definition, that is the recipe for a successful Hollywood production. Still, the reviews were
gruesome, and I don t exactly know anyone that said, Man, I can t wait for a Ride Along sequel. Sure,
there are probably people out there that love Ride ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In PG 13 films, like Ride Along 2, he relies upon nonsensical moments, like an alligator eating his
shoe or sticking his head into a ceiling fan, for lackluster laughs. Both of those scenes, I might add,
didn t even warrant a sympathy laugh, let alone the reaction it was going for.
While Kevin Hart flounders around in this sequel, identically to his role in the first film, Ice Cube
doesn t do much to add layers to his role, either with his character s continuous attempts to drum up
laughter with stern, smug sarcasm. Like Hart, I like Ice Cube, too. He s had a few memorable roles
here and there but he will obviously be remembered as one of the founding members of the legendary,
groundbreaking rap group, N.W.A. And, as much as his lyrics revolutionized the music industry, his
acting career isn t exactly wowing anyone at the moment.
On paper, Kevin Hart and Ice Cube should demonstrate an endless amount of playful and outlandish
chemistry. In reality, though they wish they could be as popular as other comedy cop duos with
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill sticking out as the best in the business at the moment (in the 21 Jump
Street which Ice Cube also stars in, and is rather hilarious more often than not). With that said, the
Hart/Cube partnership is fit to be retired despite its youth and

Analysis Of Jay Z s August 4th
Jay Z s December 4th was the first song on his Black Album, which was released in 2003, during one
of the many peaks in the rapper s career. The song includes his mother talking about his childhood in
between verses and is a very autobiographical song in the sense that he talks about his life up until he
formed the persona that is Jay Z. Although December 4th is thought to have been about the rappers s
presumed retirement, the song does not allude to an end to his rap career, instead, the December 4th is
about the artist s transition from Shawn Carter to Jay Z. He tells the story, not of the end, but of the
beginning of Jay Z and he does this by separating himself from his former self, Shawn Carter;
examining the importance that Carter played in the story of how Jay Z was born and continues to live.
This song is very indicative of a speaker who is narrating and advising his former self and showing the
importance of accepting and how one came to be. The song begins almost as a confessional, telling his
audience about the decisions and choices he made leading up to the creation of Jay Z . When he says, I
m leaving after this song/ So you ain t gotta feel no way about Jay so long/ At least let me tell you why
I m this way, the rapper is letting his audience know that this song is about his life and the aspects of
his upbringing that lead him to his present life as Jay Z. It is also important to note that the lines above
are being told from the point of view of Carter

NASA has never made a trip to Mars, but I don t think the benefits of going to Mars will outweigh the

Lack Of Rest-Time In Sports-Related Concussions
More than 300,000 sports related concussions occur per year. Most athletes recover from head
injuries, like concussions, if they take the time to properly manage the injury. Injured athletes should
be required to sit out for longer periods of time to allow time for the brain to heal completely. The lack
of rest time may lead to multiple concussions, permanent brain damage, and loss of memory or focus.
Athletes need rest time in order to get back on the field in the future. Most athletes want to play their

For Esme- With Love and Squalor Essay
For Esme With Love and Squalor
1) In For Esme With Love and Squalor, J.D. Salinger addresses a part of every person s life. Everyone
experiences periods in their life when they question the world and what is happening around them.
Most people probably do not experience it quite as dramatic as the writer of the story, Sergeant X,
does. He finds himself in the middle of the pure madness of war, and is having a hard time coping
with the realities of the situation. Eventually, people find their way of dealing with these moments.
Sergeant X relies on his memories of Esme to help him. The theme of the story is that the innocence
of youth can serve as a healing power in times when the world seems to be falling apart.
2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We experience the pain and suffering that he endures. We are also able to understand how Esme s
innocence is able to end that suffering.
4) The main characters in the story help to illustrate the theme by contrasting the two different worlds
in the story. Esme, although she only knows the writer for a short time, has a profound impact on him.
Esme is intelligent, but it is obvious that she is trying much too hard to impress the author. Her
dramatic vocabulary and over use of the word extremely is childish and annoying. During the choir
practice the coach says that children should ...absorb the meanings of the words they sing, not just
mouth them, like silly billy parrots.
5) However, it is not the intelligence she displays, it is her innocence and child like appearance that
the writer concentrates on the most. We are told before she approaches that she is giving qualified
smiles , or appearing sexually mature. The way he describes her crossed ankles and feet as being
lovely, further supports the characteristics of her being naïve and not sexually alluring. The author also
notes Esme s lack of compassion, this also adds to the idea of her as being innocent and unaware of
the realities of war. She describes her father as being S L A I N. This is later used at the end of the
story to mock Esme s naïve remark that he returns from the war with all his faculties intact.
6) The character of Corporal Z

The Measures against Drunk Driving
Should drink drive limit? include: arguments, data analysis, economic effects, and social effects
environmental effects. Drunk driving over the years has led to many atrocities; traffic congestions,
accidents, mishaps, unruly words exchanged and on the other extreme, deaths. An American is killed
every 40 minutes by a drunk driver. These accidents usually occur in the later parts of the night or
early parts of the day. And the age group for drunk drivers is usually between 21 24 years. Also men
seem to be more susceptible to be drunk drivers than women. (Facts, 2009) To qualify as a drunk
driver, the alcohol content in the blood level of an individual needs to be greater than or equal to .08
grams per deciliter (g/dL). And parents are worried that children will be indulging in this activity
frequently and wish to curb it but find they are helpless. But the key to solving this issue by parents is
that they think like their children. Be it teenagers or adults. Young people think they can do anything.
They are reckless and full of life, not thinking of the dire consequences of situations they may place
themselves into. But parents know better. They know that even young people cannot combat death
when it comes. And so they must realize that young people hate having their privileges taken away,
and they hate an adult, especially their parents finding out. So parents can take this particular action
against children, and forewarn them that this will happen if they indulge

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Problem Solving
Various types of problems are evident. They have been classified as generic or specific for a task, well
structured to ill structured, diagnostic or remedial. (De Mast and Lokkerbol, 2012). In order to ensure
solved problems do not resurface, scientific methods of problem solving needs to be used.
Literature review suggest that scientific problem solving has been addressed by three schools of
thought namely Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing/ Lean Enterprise and World Class Manufacturing
Practices. These theories have evolved over time with the empirical evidence and new knowledge
uncovered.
2.1 Six Sigma
The origin of six sigma comes from statistics and statisticians. (Hahn et al., 1999), (Hoerl and Snee,
2002), and (Montgomery, 2001) The term six sigma is defined ... Show more content on

The challenge of having quality data available, and solutions driven by the data are expensive and
only a small part of the solution is implemented at the end.
It is a subjective judgement, where a defect may be defined as anything which does not meet customer
needs or expectations. The calculation of defect rates for non normal situations is yet to be addressed.
The start up cost for six sigma into a corporate culture (training, consulting, improvement
implementation; and software) can be asignificant investment (Karbasian et al., 2006).
Committed leadership of top management and fully fledged training are crucial to the success of Six
Sigma implementation. Human resource functions need good harmonization with Six Sigma
approach(Tjahjono, B. et al., 2010).The right selection and prioritization of projects is also a critical
success factor(Antony, J., 2004).
Evolution of theoretical and empirical knowledge redefines the theme of Six Sigma as a method of
improving product and process quality by understanding the relationships between the inputs and the
metrics that define the quality

something about blood money and an ancient curse. Needless to say, I asked her to skip ahead. So
today, she bellowed, Claire... chased Wasle... with scissors! Immediately, I burst out giggling, Nuh uh,

Negotiations between AT and T and McCaw
MERGER BETWEEN AT T AND McCAW By: Shilpa Keswani Lakhani Kashif Khan Satyameet
Singh Ahuja Moin Akhtar Madhur Chaudhary With multiple valuation numbers being arrived at
ranging from 5.4 billion dollars to 173 billion, we believe that the most appropriate value for the
organization is 12 billion dollars. It has been arrived at, by maintaining the industry standard of
pricing a potential customer at a 173 dollars. The highest valuation we arrived at was by the DCF
method (193 billion), this number is only plausible when we assume that the organization will grow at
7% indefinitely. On the other hand the organization was valued the ... Show more content on

This risk gains great importance on the grounds, that British Telecom has seen a negative return of
almost 50% in its investment (41$ to 24 $), and whether they will be willing to dilute their interest and
take a major loss. Finally since McCaw’s aspirations have led it to acquiring a 52% stake in Lin,
the future of Lin and McCaw’s relationship could really make or break the fruits of this merger.
Goals: As the negotiator for AT T, our goal is to ensure that the deal is signed at a price acceptable to
us. Another goal for us is to secure this deal during the current market sentiment when mergers are at a
low and hence we could enjoy the relative cost advantages. Moving on, we need to get the ideal mix
of the cash †equity ratio for financing this deal. With a high debt ratio and the addition of
McCaw’s debt to our balance sheets, we need to sign the deal which effects this potentially
harmful ratio the least. The goals of people from McCaw would involve driving us to pay the
maximum due to our need. Their motive would likely be to have a high cash component while
receiving the payment to cover their debt and assets. Craig, being an individual who feels the need to
be in control of his companies, and his intention of seeking a partnership, he would look for a position
of influence in the new amalgamated firm. Negotiating Strategy: The strategy we’d like to adopt is

Essay Lower Corporate Tax
A Case for lower Corporate Tax
Submitted by Student 201204997 on 11th of march 2013
Executive Summary
Policy Makers in the United Kingdom may as well take notice and acknowledge that lower corporate
tax can give essential profits to business competiveness without fundamentally hurting the medium
term budget viewpoint.
Several countries lately have reduced or plan to reduce their corporate tax rates in order to stimulate
investment, create jobs and promote faster economic growth. This includes the Ireland where the rate
of Corporation Tax has been kept at 12%.Recently published report of Northern Ireland (NI)
Economic Strategy, identified lowering of corporate tax as the single measure that might have the

Studies by Economist Lee and Gordon(2004) found viewed the connection between corporate tax
rates and economic growth for 70 nations over a 27 year period they discovered that statutory
corporate charge rates are fundamentally adversely related with cross sectional distinctions in normal
economic development rates and that reducing the corporate duty rate by 10 percent can deliver a
additional growth rate of 1.1%
Studies such as these provide strong evidence that lower corporate taxes do lead to long term
economic growth and by having high rates we retard the nation growth potential.
Competiveness
The Canadian legislature has set an unequivocal objective of having a lowest corporate tax in the
Group of Seven (G7) nations on January 1st, Canada brought down its corporate tax rate from 18
percent to 16.5 percent. the rate will eventually decrease to 15 percent. The Japanese administration
also affirmed corporate tax deduction by 5 percent with a specific end goal to increase local
investment and create jobs through improving Japanese firms worldwide competiveness and
improving business environment. Lee and Gordon (2004) argue that the elevated sticker value of the
nation high corporate charge rate not just makes the its economy less competitive all around, but also
it makes its business organizations less aggressive competitive they argue lower corporate tax rates

History Of The Aztec Calendar
The Aztec Calendar was carved in 1479. The Calendar was dedicated to the sun god. It is 3 feet thick,
is about 12 feet across, and weighs almost 25 tones. The Aztec Calendar is a reflection of the Aztecs
Pharisaical understanding of time and space. The Aztecs, along with many of societies at this time
believed that time went in cycles. Now, the Calendar consists of more than just one wheel rather it is a
combination of two wheels. The first Calendar is known to the Aztecs as Xiuhpohualli. The second
being Tonalpohualli. Today I will be expanding on so of the known surrounding the Aztec calendar.
The Aztec calendar played a big role in the complex system of religious beliefs and ceremonies that

Reading the Old Testament Essay
The Old Testament and the Bible itself has been studied extensively for centuries. Archeologists and
Scholars have labored and pondered over texts trying to decipher its clues. It does not matter how
many times the Old Testament has been studied there will always be something new to learn about it
or the history surrounding it. In the book Reading the Old Testament: an Introduction, the author
Lawrence Boadt presents us with a few different authors of the Old Testament that used different
names for God and had a unique insight into the texts. These four sources are titled P for priests, E for
Elohim, J for Jehovah, and Y for Yahweh (95). These four unique sources help us realize that there is
more than one author of the Pentateuch. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sources that do not come from the bible specifically are ones that have everything to do with it but
show some insight as to the history of it. They help peel a little off the mystery that the bible is
surrounded by. The Nova website gives us an insurmountable amount of information about the
archeology, history, and thoughts on the bible. Therefore without these sources, we would be in the
dark on what was behind the bible and without that knowledge people would be more skeptical of the
bible that has no background to as how it came to be in existence. If there was no history or sources
behind it then we would have no idea why these authors felt compelled to write anything and what
their culture was like that influenced it. Most importantly we would never be able to answer the
question, who wrote the bible? Higher criticism are techniques of analysis to find out what
circumstances surrounded the writing of the bible, how many versions there are, and plenty of other
questions (Boadt 80). One of these criticisms is source criticism which is also called literary criticism.
This deals with whether earlier to the written word we have if there were others before and how they
were incorporated into the present text (Boadt 81). In the bible especially in the Pentateuch there is a
considerable amount of evidence in the text of more than one

1. Define and explain the significance of jure imperii and jure gestionis (reference the theory of
sovereign immunity to which they are relevant).
Principally, the theory of restrictive sovereign immunity is basically when the Department of States
can elect to instill immunity, or otherwise not let immunity happen (Murphy, 305). There are
specifically two areas that either allows this unit to acclaim immunity and or reject immunity
(Murphy, 305). The first area is known as jure imperii. When governments of other nations have an
undertaking that is relevant to the community, then immunity is acclaimed (Murphy, 305). The second
area is known as jure gestionis. If a government of another nation has relayed information on
undertakings in being profit oriented, then rejecting immunity is the option (Murphy, 305).

Four Key Determinants Of Health
According to Leiyu Shi and Douglas A. Singh (2015), Health determinants are major factors that, over
time affect the health and well being of individuals and populations (p.52). Differences are constantly
being made throughout the health care system, communities and various cultural groups for the
healthcare administrations to expand their reach beyond medical services. Today in many areas health
care professionals are taking a different approach by focusing not only on health but on the well being
of the people as well. In order for many of the health care professionals to improve the communities in
which they serve they must improve on the four key determinants of health.
The first one is the environment in which we live. Our environment

Over the course of last 100 years, the United States has been involved in over ten military conflicts.
With each and every conflict SIGINT collection and analysis has grown and matured. Of all the
SIGINT platforms no platform has had a more far reaching impact on the battle field then Prophet

the prophet system has allowed commanders real time access to valuable SIGINT intelligence and

Most Prophet System consist of two components. The components are control vehicle and usually 2 to

The Murder Mystery Of John Wright
The Case of the Murder Mystery of John Wright in Trifles
The story was written by Susan Glaspell who was born and raised in Davenport, Lowa. She graduated
from Drake University in 1899. She married the novelist and playwright Norman Matson in 1925 and
was divorced in 1932. After the divorce, she spent the rest of her life in Provincetown by continually
exploring the major suspect of the story Trifles , the environments that frustrated full development of
human potential as well as the impact of gender on the complex process by which explains to us the
social texts and literacy. Cofounder in 1915 of the Provincetown players, Susan Glaspell was also a
noted dramatist and prolific fiction writer. She published ten novels and more than forty short stories.
Trifles was an act play included in 1916 (Glaspell, 177). Mrs. Wright is a major suspect in her
husband s death. In her story Trifles , John Wright, a farmer is found dead in his bed with a rope
around his neck and his wife, Mrs. Wright is suspected of killing him. Mrs. Wright tells investigators
that her husband was murdered while she was sleeping. She becomes the main suspect in the
investigation (Glaspell, 178).
The setting of the story Trifles takes place in a gloomy kitchen with unwashed pans under the sink, a
loaf of bread outside the breadbox, a dish towel on the table and other signs of incomplete work. I
think the most important part of this play is the setting and the reason is because the

How to Improve Reading Comprehension How to improve one s reading comprehension? First, one
must know what reading compression is, plain and simple it is the act of understanding what is being
read. Learning how to read is probably one of the most important skills that a child will acquire in
his/her lifetime (Pardo, 2011). Though it may sound easy, many people have difficultly remembering
and understanding what they read. To become a successful reader, a child must be able to decode the
individual words on the page and must be able to comprehend the text (McNamara, 2007). To read

Move the hand so that the first line of text being read is above the side of the hand. Slowly move the
palm to revile the words of the text at a regular speed so the reader can see the words that are being
exposed. Next, is the finger trick with this method the reader should place the index finger on the first
group of words that is about to be read. Move the finger in an irregular manner from the beginning of
the sentence to the end. This helps the reader to focus on reading groups of words instead of
individually. Another good tip to become a better reader is the card trick. Get an index card and place
it over the first sentence. Then slowly begin moving it in a downwards, covering what was just read.
This helps the reader to pay attention on what was just read since they will not have the opportunity to
revisit the words. After the reader has finished, determine what was learned. Give the reader a chance
to share what they have read in pairs or small groups. Then have them quiz themselves on the main
points of the material. Tell a friend about it. By doing this, the reader should try to recall the important
information in their own words. This will help them to remember and give a deeper insight into the
topic. If both people have read the same material, the friend could give good feedback to ensure that
the reader comprehends what was being read. The goal of having them discuss this is to involve more

How Did The Us Foothold In The War Of 1812
The War of 1812 was the first war where the US actually declared war on anybody. The US was ready
to expand and had their sights on Canada. The Northern states were against going to war as they relied
on trade a lot. The Southern and Western states, being more agrarian, wanted expansion. The
Americans who were ready for war were referred to as War Hawks, Henry Clay being amongst them.
The Federalists were against going to war. America didn t have many ships, their leaders were out of
shape and most of them were drinking. The only reason the US gained a foothold in the war was due
to Britain being preoccupied in the Napoleonic Wars, which they defeated Napoleon not until 1814.
With the defeat of Napoleon came the end of impressment since

Mixed Incontinence Case Study
The patient in the case study would most likely have mixed incontinence. The two forms of
incontinence the patient would suffer from are transient and functional. The patient is currently taking
Lasix 80 mg by mouth every 12 hours and would this would be the contributable factor for transient
incontinence. Functional incontinence in this case would be from the patient being unable to make it
to the toilet because he needs two people to assist him when moving. If the patient was not taking the
Lasix, he would still most likely suffer from functional incontinence. The patient has also had an
intraoperative left cerebrovascular accident (CVA) which can also be a factor for incontinence but
there is not enough information given to make that determination. Although, a CVA can be a factor for
incontinence it is not always the cause. The Lasix 80 mg twice a day combined with the patient not
being able to go to the toilet on his own would lead to a diagnosis of mixed incontinence (Ebersole
Hess , 2014). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

patient protection if he is not able to get to the commode or urinal fast enough and provide a barrier
between the sheets and his skin as most of the pads are moisture absorbent. The commode next to the
bed would be the last resort in interventions as the patient would still need assistance to transfer from
the bed. Putting these interventions into place would help the patient with incontinence and give him a

Parsons visited Germany under Hitler s leadership, and wrote about what he saw there. He returned
and debated endlessly, giving multiple warnings on how the German people were faring under
fascism. This perhaps played no small part in the US eventually coming to oppose Germany in the
Second World War.
Parsons wrote a scathing article entitled New Dark Age Seen If Nazis Should Win , and went on to
rally people behind his staunch opposition of Nazi Germany, and fascism, in general; speaking in
public, and appearing on the radio as well as helping to initiate the Harvard Defense Committee to
further these efforts. At one point during a public appearance, his speech was disrupted by isolation
activists, making him realize that if he was to turn the American people towards supporting a US
presence in the European war, he would have to first overcome the strong feelings many Americans
had in favor of continued isolationism. After WWII, Parsons would go on to socially oppose
Communism and all other forms of totalitarian government, and spoke frequently about what he
referred to as empirical finalism (cultural and ideological claims as to the correct end of a pattern of
value orientation), likening such forms of government to a fundamentalist stance on religion.
Parsons also espoused the ideas of American Exceptionalism, which were more than valid at the time,
as the United States was on the leading edge of science and technology, in

  • 3. Daedalus And Icarus By Anthony Van Dyck The painting Daedalus and Icarus by Anthony van Dyck, (located in the AGO s European section) visually represents a few concepts we have covered in our Adolescent Development and Health course, such as the conflicts that arise between parents and their adolescent children in the Steinberg and Morris article: Adolescent Development . Van Dyck s painting captures the subtleties of adolescent naivety, Icarus hand gesture can be argued as being like the contemporary shoulder shrug and eye roll of a teenager as their parent warns or lecture them. His eyes look towards the viewer, rather than to his father, as Daedalus points upwards, warning him not to fly too close to the sun, or his wings will melt and he will fall to his death ( Classic ... • 4. Boxer Rebellion Dbq How would you feel if innocent citizens were being attacked for no apparent reason? How would you feel if another country controlled who you traded with? These are very important questions in history that are still unanswered today. America should have intervened in the Boxer Rebellion because they offered the Open Door Policy but the Chinese started the rebellion, attacked innocent people, and we needed to show the Chinese who had the power. Furthermore, American government offered a Chinese open door policy to the rest of the world. But, after the Chinese heard of this new policy, they weren t happy. The Chinese began to train people to be what was known as a boxer, then decided to rebel against America. The following day, Qing Empress Dowager Tzu u Hzi (or Cixi, 1835 1908) declared a war on all foreign nations with diplomatic ties in China (History.com). This shows that America should ve intervened because they re the ones who proposed the policy in the first place. • 5. Persuasive Essay On March Madness 4 Reasons Why You Should Watch March Madness When it comes to March Madness, like most things, there are those who get it and those who don t. However, unlike other annual sports events, there is more to March Madness than meets the eye. For those who have no plans of watching the upcoming March Madness, here are four reasons why you should. The pressure With most sports, teams have plenty of chances to compete before they are kicked out of a tournament. With NCAA March Madness, on the other hand, players only get one shot at the game after which they are sent home. That kind of pressure is what makes it so amazing. It is a do or die moment, and they battle it out with all they ve got. It is nerve racking to watch the games, especially since any of the teams can be winners. The nerves, pressure, and adrenaline rush are a definite reason why you should watch the event. The brackets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Picking out brackets is such a huge deal, Trump received criticism for refusing to do so on ESPN like his predecessor. Brackets are a lively way for fans to get involved with the game without having to go to the actual matches or playing in the games. While some people do this professionally to earn some money, most people do it for fun and the spirit of the game. There s something very thrilling about watching your predictions come true just as you predicted they would. The passion Unlike professional basketball like in the NBA, NCAA March Madness is played by college students for nothing but the glory of the game. Young people come together in the spirit of sportsmanship and play to their heart s content. In this games, the players don t get paid, and you only get one shot at every turn. Nevertheless, they come out and play with everything they have. If not for the game itself, you should watch March Madness to admire the passion and dedication of the players. Ease of ... • 6. Prussia s Influence On The World s Foundational... Prussia was a kingdom that existed nearly half a millennium ago as a patchwork of territorial fragments, with no significant resources founded yet or a coherent culture. With its capital in Berlin, Prussia grew from being a small, poor, disregarded medieval state into one of the most vigorous and powerful nations in Europe. 1 Prussia s involvement in the continent s foundational religious and political conflagrations. From the devastations of the Thirty Years War through centuries of political machinations to the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire. From the enlightenment of Frederick the Great to the destructive conquests of Napoleon. Then from the Iron and Blood policies of Bismarck to the creation of the German Empire in 1871, and all that implied for the tumultuous twentieth century. Prussia s government was monarchical from the 1700s all the way to the Great War. During all that time it increasingly valued a strong, formidable army, but was not so formidable when it met Napoleon during the Coalition Wars. It put forth effort in training and spending much of its money towards weapons and uniforms. The military technology and strategy of Prussia during 1860s and 1870s was outstanding. Especially with the mind of Otto von Bismarck (1815 1898) leading the way against Denmark, and later Austria, and then with his sneaky tactics he used against France before the Franco Prussian war in 1870. Burn rate study on Alliant (Green dot) smokeless shotgun powder and KClO4 Shalom AJ Cohen Philadelphia community college 11/2010 Abstract: The purpose of this project is to measure if differing amounts of potassium perchlorate, KCIO4, mixed with shotgun powder has an effect on burn rate. The experiment was videotaped and the duration of burn time for each amount used was recorded. KClO4, amounts ranging from .2g to 2g, were added to 4g of shotgun powder. A steel pipe that is ½ inch wide and 6 inch, which is welded vertically to a steel plate base was used for confinement. Ignition occurred from the top down. The hypothesis that was accepted is that the concentration of KClO4 will accelerate the burn rate of smokeless flake powder. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The burn rate of the mixture was recorded with a video camera and the results recorded and timed. The resulting footage was reviewed and the duration of the combustion noted on a tenth of a second basis. 4 grams of Alliant Green Dot double base smokeless flake powder with no KClO4 added was also recorded twice in the same manner, to give a baseline burn time and averaged. Raw Data Gun powder without additive burn time: Amount: Burn time: 4g 1.91s 4g 1.97s Amount of KClO4 added to 4 g shotgun powder: Amount: Burn time: 2g 1.23s .4g 1.86s .6g 2.76s .8g 1.98s 1g 2.76s 1.2g 1.92s 2g 1.98s DATA Conclusion: The gathered data shows a negative skew pattern. It was a suc cess ful successful day, read the final line in the book. My heart began to race as my eyes grew wide like an owl s. Had I really just read a whole chapter book by myself? I sprung out of my bed and ran to go tell my mom. Mommy, I just finished reading a chapter book all by myself! I exclaimed with a wide smile plastered on my face. I m so proud of you! my mother responded. I knew that you could do it! My mom gave me a huge hug. At that moment, I realized that all of the long hours of practicing and reading had paid off. I could finally read a chapter book. Since I was young, my parents made reading a priority for me. When I was in kindergarten at my preschool, I had a reading teacher who worked one on one with me to increase my level. As a result, I was confident in my reading ability and excited for the first day of first grade at my new red bricked elementary school. As I briskly walked through the main entrance and to my classroom the morning of the first day, I squeezed my parents hands tightly with butterflies in my stomach. I had only been inside the school one other time, at Meet the Teacher night, so I was still unsure of what to expect. We found my classroom and put my pink polka dot backpack and matching lunchbox on the hook below my cubby right inside the door. After finding my desk and sitting in my chair, my parents gave me ... • 11. Analysis Of Kevin Hart Like Ride Along 2 Honestly, I m starting to wonder if there should be a law against creating sequels to horrible predecessors. I know. I know. That s ridiculous. But that doesn t change the fact that nobody asked for another Ride Along. The first film was cheesy, unimaginative, and the partnership between Kevin Hart and Ice Cube was mediocre at best. At the same time, though the cop comedy managed to gross a little more than $150 million worldwide, produced against a conservative budget of $25 million. By definition, that is the recipe for a successful Hollywood production. Still, the reviews were gruesome, and I don t exactly know anyone that said, Man, I can t wait for a Ride Along sequel. Both of those scenes, I might add, didn t even warrant a sympathy laugh, let alone the reaction it was going for. While Kevin Hart flounders around in this sequel, identically to his role in the first film, Ice Cube doesn t do much to add layers to his role, either with his character s continuous attempts to drum up laughter with stern, smug sarcasm. Like Hart, I like Ice Cube, too. He s had a few memorable roles here and there but he will obviously be remembered as one of the founding members of the legendary, groundbreaking rap group, N.W.A. And, as much as his lyrics revolutionized the music industry, his acting career isn t exactly wowing anyone at the moment. On paper, Kevin Hart and Ice Cube should demonstrate an endless amount of playful and outlandish chemistry. In reality, though they wish they could be as popular as other comedy cop duos with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill sticking out as the best in the business at the moment (in the 21 Jump Street which Ice Cube also stars in, and is rather hilarious more often than not). • 12. Analysis Of Jay Z s August 4th Jay Z s December 4th was the first song on his Black Album, which was released in 2003, during one of the many peaks in the rapper s career. The song includes his mother talking about his childhood in between verses and is a very autobiographical song in the sense that he talks about his life up until he formed the persona that is Jay Z. Although December 4th is thought to have been about the rappers s presumed retirement, the song does not allude to an end to his rap career, instead, the December 4th is about the artist s transition from Shawn Carter to Jay Z. He tells the story, not of the end, but of the beginning of Jay Z and he does this by separating himself from his former self, Shawn Carter; examining the importance that Carter played in the story of how Jay Z was born and continues to live. This song is very indicative of a speaker who is narrating and advising his former self and showing the importance of accepting and how one came to be. The song begins almost as a confessional, telling his audience about the decisions and choices he made leading up to the creation of Jay Z . When he says, I m leaving after this song/ So you ain t gotta feel no way about Jay so long/ At least let me tell you why I m this way, the rapper is letting his audience know that this song is about his life and the aspects of his upbringing that lead him to his present life as Jay Z. Everyone experiences periods in their life when they question the world and what is happening around them. Most people probably do not experience it quite as dramatic as the writer of the story, Sergeant X, does. He finds himself in the middle of the pure madness of war, and is having a hard time coping with the realities of the situation. Eventually, people find their way of dealing with these moments. Sergeant X relies on his memories of Esme to help him. The theme of the story is that the innocence of youth can serve as a healing power in times when the world seems to be falling apart. 2) ... Her dramatic vocabulary and over use of the word extremely is childish and annoying. During the choir practice the coach says that children should ...absorb the meanings of the words they sing, not just mouth them, like silly billy parrots. 5) However, it is not the intelligence she displays, it is her innocence and child like appearance that the writer concentrates on the most. We are told before she approaches that she is giving qualified smiles , or appearing sexually mature. The way he describes her crossed ankles and feet as being lovely, further supports the characteristics of her being naïve and not sexually alluring. The author also notes Esme s lack of compassion, this also adds to the idea of her as being innocent and unaware of the realities of war. She describes her father as being S L A I N. This is later used at the end of the story to mock Esme s naïve remark that he returns from the war with all his faculties intact. 6) The character of Corporal Z ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. How to Improve Reading Comprehension Tony Sandoval III American Military University Coll 100 Derrah Q. Cassidy How to Improve Reading Comprehension How to improve one s reading comprehension? First, one must know what reading compression is, plain and simple it is the act of understanding what is being read. Learning how to read is probably one of the most important skills that a child will acquire in his/her lifetime (Pardo, 2011). Though it may sound easy, many people have difficultly remembering and understanding what they read. To become a successful reader, a child must be able to decode the individual words on the page and must be able to comprehend the text (McNamara, 2007). To read effectively pick a subject that will be interesting, try to figure out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Move the hand so that the first line of text being read is above the side of the hand. Slowly move the palm to revile the words of the text at a regular speed so the reader can see the words that are being exposed. Next, is the finger trick with this method the reader should place the index finger on the first group of words that is about to be read. Move the finger in an irregular manner from the beginning of the sentence to the end. This helps the reader to focus on reading groups of words instead of individually. Another good tip to become a better reader is the card trick. Get an index card and place it over the first sentence. Then slowly begin moving it in a downwards, covering what was just read. This helps the reader to pay attention on what was just read since they will not have the opportunity to revisit the words. After the reader has finished, determine what was learned. Give the reader a chance to share what they have read in pairs or small groups. Then have them quiz themselves on the main points of the material. Tell a friend about it. By doing this, the reader should try to recall the important information in their own words. This will help them to remember and give a deeper insight into the topic. If both people have read the same material, the friend could give good feedback to ensure that the reader comprehends what was being read. The goal of having them discuss this is to involve more ... • 32. How Did The Us Foothold In The War Of 1812 The War of 1812 was the first war where the US actually declared war on anybody. The US was ready to expand and had their sights on Canada. The Northern states were against going to war as they relied on trade a lot. The Southern and Western states, being more agrarian, wanted expansion. The Americans who were ready for war were referred to as War Hawks, Henry Clay being amongst them. The Federalists were against going to war. America didn t have many ships, their leaders were out of shape and most of them were drinking. The only reason the US gained a foothold in the war was due to Britain being preoccupied in the Napoleonic Wars, which they defeated Napoleon not until 1814. • 33. Mixed Incontinence Case Study The patient in the case study would most likely have mixed incontinence. The two forms of incontinence the patient would suffer from are transient and functional. The patient is currently taking Lasix 80 mg by mouth every 12 hours and would this would be the contributable factor for transient incontinence. Functional incontinence in this case would be from the patient being unable to make it to the toilet because he needs two people to assist him when moving. If the patient was not taking the Lasix, he would still most likely suffer from functional incontinence. The patient has also had an intraoperative left cerebrovascular accident (CVA) which can also be a factor for incontinence but there is not enough information given to make that determination. Although, a CVA can be a factor for incontinence it is not always the cause. The Lasix 80 mg twice a day combined with the patient not being able to go to the toilet on his own would lead to a diagnosis of mixed incontinence (Ebersole Hess , 2014). ... The absorbent bed pads would give the patient protection if he is not able to get to the commode or urinal fast enough and provide a barrier between the sheets and his skin as most of the pads are moisture absorbent. The commode next to the bed would be the last resort in interventions as the patient would still need assistance to transfer from the bed. Putting these interventions into place would help the patient with incontinence and give him a sense of self help (Ebersole Hess , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He returned and debated endlessly, giving multiple warnings on how the German people were faring under fascism. This perhaps played no small part in the US eventually coming to oppose Germany in the Second World War. Parsons wrote a scathing article entitled New Dark Age Seen If Nazis Should Win , and went on to rally people behind his staunch opposition of Nazi Germany, and fascism, in general; speaking in public, and appearing on the radio as well as helping to initiate the Harvard Defense Committee to further these efforts. At one point during a public appearance, his speech was disrupted by isolation activists, making him realize that if he was to turn the American people towards supporting a US presence in the European war, he would have to first overcome the strong feelings many Americans had in favor of continued isolationism. After WWII, Parsons would go on to socially oppose Communism and all other forms of totalitarian government, and spoke frequently about what he referred to as empirical finalism (cultural and ideological claims as to the correct end of a pattern of value orientation), likening such forms of government to a fundamentalist stance on religion. Parsons also espoused the ideas of American Exceptionalism, which were more than valid at the time, as the United States was on the leading edge of science and technology, in ...
