Analysis Of Johnny Depp, By Edward Scissorhands
Johnny Depp, is one of the most talented physical actors of this age. His unique and often wacky
movements make each of his characters stand out. Most famous for his role as the ridiculous pirate
captain Jack Sparrow, form Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp is also widely known for a number of other
interesting characters in a number of other interesting shows, one of his earliest being Edward
Scissorhands, in Edward Scissorhands (1990). The expansion of Depp s use of physical movement is
tremendous between Edward Scissor hands ad Pirates of the Caribbean. And though they both differ
tremendously in personality and physicality, they still maintain the wacky persona that is so
characteristic of Johnny Depp. First let us analyze whether or not Depp centers each character. And
the answer is that he centers both, but each differently. Edward Scissorhands is very centered, but
definitely not comfortably centered. Although he stands erect, he stands with his head pulled back and
his back very stiff, and his adds to the bizarreness of his strange character. Who stands like that? No
one. It is interesting how just a little abnormality in posture can bring out abnormality in the entire
character. Additionally, the way that Depp centers Edward Scissorhands, with his head constantly
either pull back too far jutted forward in moments of interest add to the emotions of curiosity and
apprehension that are so strong in this character. Depp s second character, the famous Jack Sparrow, is

Creation Myths Essay
Creation Myths
Who made who? Did God create humans or did humans create god? At first thought one
would of course say God created humans. Man cannot create god! What fool would dare say
such a thing! After all the definition of God says that it is the supreme being and the divine
creator, not the divine creation. So of course God created man, right? Or shall we dig a little
deeper into this question and examine it from the other side? Is God just a figment of mans
elaborate imagination? Could it be that God is a mythological tool used by man to manipulate the
mind to give explanations to the unexplainable? If this is true then humans created god.
Since the beginning of mankind, gods and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All they knew was that there
were necessities in the world that were vital to their survival such as the sun. They were oblivious
to what the sun was, but they knew it was consequential to their existence so they labeled it as a

Years past, and as time went by man obtained more and more knowledge about the
environment in which they inhabited. With Knowledge came the dawn of a new breed of gods.
Gods that would satisfy mans starving imagination and explain their existence. Expanding from
the elementary elemental based gods of the Egyptians came more evolved gods. Gods that were
more than just dominators over the elements. Gods that expressed a plethora of emotions toward
man and became a more personal form of a God. Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Muslim
are just a few examples of the contemporary religions that were created between 2500 BCE to
500 CE . Why haven t there been any new religions created within the last 1,500 years? The answer is
simple. The human race as a whole has become so abundant with knowledge that we aren t
nearly as nieve and susceptible to manipulation anymore. Therefore no new creationist religions
have been originated. Sights that would have served as a miracle 2000 years ago have now

Intellectual Property Rights And Digital Pirating
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND DIGITAL PIRATING
Luke Telfer
STATEMENT OF THE ISSUE
The idea of intellectual property can be traced back to ancient Greece with the first known reference
involving the protection of culinary recipes developed by chefs. According to the World Intellectual
Property Organization, intellectual property refers to creations of the mind: inventions; literary and
artistic works; and symbols, names and images used in commerce.
The violation of intellectual property rights can take many forms, however the main ethical issue to be
examined here is that of digital piracy of copyrighted artistic works and of the variety that involves
individual consumption of such material (as opposed to blatant profiteering of the ... Show more

ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
There are several approaches to defending the idea of intellectual property rights, each with their own
strengths and weaknesses. Such approaches generally take one of three largely teleological forms:
personality theory, utilitarian rationale, and Lockean arguments. Each of these forms advocates for the
value of intellectual property rights in general and not specifically toward any particular type of
intellectual property.
Personality Theory
Personality based justifications for intellectual property stem largely from Georg Wilhelm Friedrich
Hegel s ideas on human will, personality, and freedom. Hegel insists that human will is the
fundamental property of existence and that our will is perpetually trying to achieve actuality. This
eternal struggle is therefore the essence of personality and it is in part manifested externally through
our property. With this view in mind, creative works are necessarily the property of the creator and the
creator ought to have complete control over them.
This is an important view for many forms of creation, but it is relatively unclear in how it pertains to
digital copies of a creation. For example, defacing a classical painting would be seen as immoral even
if the perpetrator has legally acquired ownership of the painting because the creator still has certain
rights over the creation. However, if a

Piggy s Struggle For Power
How does a group of young, innocent boys become ruthless savages? In the Lord of the Flies by
William Goulding, a group of adolescents are left stranded on an island after a plane crash. They are
without any influence of adults, a situation that leaves no doubt that the community will quickly lose
control. Humans craving for power is the cause of all viciousness in the world. With great irony, the
most intelligent boy called Piggy is wrongly ignored by the other boys. Trusting Ralph too much, the
fat boy shares, They used to call me Piggy. Ralph shrieked with laughter. He jumped up and said,
Piggy! Piggy! and Piggy then pleaded, Ralph please! (11). When Piggy and Ralph first meet, Ralph
immediately sees Piggy as weak. Piggy asks Ralph not to call him by his nickname, but Ralph calls
him Piggy anyway despite his embarrassment. Who cares what you believe Fatty! ... Show more

The boys were playing a game that started out with attacking a boar for fun, but got out of hand when
Ralph, carried away by a sudden thick excitement, grabbed Eric s spear and jabbed at Robert with it
(114). During the game, the boys become carried away and drunk on their newfound power. Ralph
initiates using Robert as the boar and attacking him, which demonstrates loss of humanity on the
island. Leaning all his weight on the lever, Roger killed Piggy with a sense of delirious abandonment
(180). Roger is the one who starts the chain reaction that kills Piggy, by releasing the rock that kills
him. This is no surprise, as Roger is the silent troublemaker of the group. Jack began to dance and his
laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling as he capered toward Bill (64). This quote represents the book
as a whole. It demonstrates how the boys innocence at the beginning of the book turned to violence
and hatred. The murder of Piggy and Simon can both be blamed on Jack s desire for

The purpose of this research paper is to critically analyse the issues of delay in the NAIT LRT project.
This project was initiated on September 6, 2015, which was supposed to be in 2014. The key objective
of this research paper is to identify steps and activities that must be managed to avoid delays,
development problems due to unexpected risks and even monitoring the project. This study will
provide a brief analysis of the issues incurred in the failure of NAIT LRT project. This study

It is formally known as the Metro Line. (Objective) The 3.3km division line was planned to run from
Churchill Square to NAIT linking MacEwan University, the Royal Alexandra Hospital, the new arena
and Kingsway Mall to the main LRT system. It was expected to add 13,200 weekday riders to the city
s LRT network. The objective of this project is to get the line open, subject to it being safe, as
described by city manager Simon Farbrother in an interview in Edmonton Journal. The construction
and designing of this extended Meto Line were predicted to cost (baseline cost) of $755 million. This
cost estimation includes the purchasing property and new LRVs. Sponsors of the NAIT LRT project

The Concept Of The Looking Glass Self
Sociology 1110 Winter 2015 Assignment 4 Expository Explanatory Paper
The increase in interest to the problem of communication in sociology actualized questions of
understanding the nature of the individual. This determined the weakening of the behaviorist tradition,
which is characterized by a nihilistic attitude to the study of psychological processes and the
determination of the human life as a manifestation of the externally observable behavior (by analogy
with the animal reaction). The interactionist approach in sociology has been formed and it refers to the
integrity of the human personality and self determination in the micro social environment. In this
research paper, I want to consider the interactionist theory, as it perfectly reflects micro social
processes and explain the nature of human identity.
The Self Concept
The concept of the looking glass self is one of the first concepts of personality psychology, sociology.
It does not come from the internal characteristics of the person, but from the recognition of the crucial
role of the interaction of individuals, who act in relation to each other as standing in a front of a
mirror. William James, who was American philosopher and psychologist, was the first, who began to
develop problems with The self concept. James used fixed language structures in order to distinguish
different aspects of a single integrated Self , who is the individual himself. Thus, James suggested
reasonable (but still hypothetical) model

Essay on The Creamy Creations Take-over
Case Study #1
The Creamy Creations Take Over
The executives of Burger Barn have attempted to implement some new changes to Creamy Creations
in a positive light. However, some of these changes risk having an impact on the rosy future they
foresee for Creamy Creations. Currently, Creamy Creations is still profitable and the financial
numbers have rose since they took over management, but there are few things I do not think Burger
Barn put any consideration into when they looked at the current state of the business and the future
they foresee if business continues down the glories trail it is on currently.
One of the things I feel Burger Barn did not consider when they predicted the future of Creamy
Creations, is that Creamy Creations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will start to be more infrequent with their visits to the shoppe and eventually the shoppe will
have a chance of becoming a prime example of a tourist restaurant. This can cause the Ice Cream
Shoppe to become more seasonal then year round. Burger Barn also needs to think about the high
employee turnover. This could cause a business to go under really fast. If you get a reputation of never
having a more regular staff, customers are going to start to receive huge variances in customer service
and they may not return and you have a huge possibility of losing clientele. Also, you have a
possibility of running out of people willing to work for a place which seems to not treat the employees
well. People will wonder this because why else would the turnover rate be so high and the only
constant would be the ownership or management. These are all reasons why Burger Barn should not
be so optimistic about the future of Creamy Creations. There are few things that still need to be
tweaked before they can really start to be optimistic.
Some of the principles of classical management have been reflected in what has happened at Creamy
Creations. One of those principles is that management is making all of the decisions. Based off of the
case study, Burger Barns executives have made all of the decisions without any input from the staff.
The other principle which reflects on Creamy Creations is the division of labor.

Abstract
In this essay I shall analyze Barack Obama s Inaugural Address, January, 2009 from the perspective of
various linguistic techniques. More specifically, I shall propose and focus on the idea that the
composition of the speech has an aim to create a unity of the speaker and the audience in order to
deliver the message. Moreover, the speaker maintains the atmosphere of unity throughout the speech,
so that the speech produces an effect when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

performance that aims the delivery of the message. I will focus on the structural and functional
properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the
performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech was
made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an idea, and
in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun). Defining
the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are for; it is also
what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for analysis of any
speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural and social
circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In subchapter
2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a presidential campaign,
any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the electors preferences and,
possibly, expectations. A President s address, in turn, is based on audience s expectations. That is why,
I think, this aspect should be taken into account while

The Development Process Of The New Testament Canon
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON
SUBMITTED TO DR. NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR
THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN
NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement to come from early church history
is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon. While we may not put much thought into it
today, which books should be included or excluded from the New Testament was once the center of
much controversy. It took the church many years to settle upon the current collection of books as
being the proper Canon, making it more of a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a
universal Canon was only realized after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian
heretic Marcion. Marcion s collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the
church through councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books
became part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of the
church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. The selection of books that were to be
included or excluded from the texts used by the church was the responsibility of each individual
church body, and thus varied greatly from location to location. Because there was no canon (books

professor Lowry and his amazing telescope. What I saw and learned that night about Saturn, Jupiter
and the constellations was remarkable and complemented what I have being learning in my astronomy

see the yellow and orange spectrum of the sun. This was a great example of what happen to the
Northern Hemisphere in June solstice, when days are longer. That bright night I saw the planet Earth

Similarities Between Rosa Parks And Martin Luther King
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of
former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. Martin Luther King
Jr spoke these words at the Civil Rights March on August 28, 1963. The words above may seem
worthless, but to the people in attendance at the protest, they meant the world. It gave them hope,
perseverance, a shimmer of light in the dark times. Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare
our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome. This is one of Rosa Parks
more famous quotes. In other words, racism is still among the people of America, but it is up to them

and Rosa Parks faced many struggles during their battle to stop segregation. Although the journey was
tough, they didn t give up until they reached their goal of being seen as an equal in our society.
Similarly, they were both arrested several times just because they stood up for themselves. For
instance, Rosa Parks was arrested on December 1, 1955 when she refused to give up her seat on the
bus. In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. was sent to jail because he protested the treatment of african
americans in Birmingham, Alabama. Not only does this go against his right to freedom of petition, but
it also goes against his right to freedom of speech. Even though Parks faced many issues because of
her race, she also faced many personal problems such as an ulcer that caused her to quit her job in
Detroit. Basically, an ulcer is a hole in the lining of your stomach that can be caused by stress and
poor nutrition. Both dealt with many internal and external conflicts that affected their outlook on life
and how we see them today. The struggle is real. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. understand
that more than anyone. They faced the fear of every black out there with their heads held high, never
backing down from a challenge; as a result, their remarkable actions will go down in history, never to

The Albany Devils First 30 Games Of 2016
For my project I chose to look at the Albany Devils first 30 games of 2016. I chose this topic because
my parents have season tickets to Albany Devils games and I either go to them when I am home or
watching them on my laptop when I am at school. My elements where the first 30 games of 2016 like
stated before, and my variables were goals for, goals against, the result of the game and the distance
traveled. The elements are listed by the day and I also listed who the opponent was so one can tell if it
was an away game or a home game.
For the first variable, result of the game, I put the outcomes in a table and also made a pie chart
showing their frequency. There were four possible outcomes, win, loss, overtime loss, and shootout
loss. The reason why I did this variable is because each result helps or hurts the team in some way.
When the team gets a win in any way they get two points, when they lose in regulation, they get two
points, and if they lose in either overtime or in a shootout they only get one point. Turns out the
Albany Devils won over half of their first 30 games in 2016, with a total of 18 wins. They earn zero
points in seven of the sampled games. In 17% of the sampled games they earn only one point per
game. The team did not even have one overtime loss. The Albany Devils earned 41 of the possible 60
points up for grabs from January second to March thirteenth helping them make it into the Calder Cup
Playoffs for the second time in the past three seasons.

Richard Wagner Characteristics
We are still waiting for the man who can compose and write a genuine opera. (Furness 14). That man
was Wilhelm Richard Wagner he was known for his operas and other compositions which influenced
many other composers. Wagner wrote many amazing operas, compositions, and poetic lyrics. Some
think he wasn t so important, but some even think he was one of the best holding him up to Beethoven
for his compositions (Furness 7). Wagner s best composition from his career is a composition called
Der Rings Des Nibelungen, which is a composition that is eighteen hours long and four operas which
had reoccurring themes connecting them all together. Firstly, Richard Wagner was born on May 22
,1813 in Leipzig, Germany. Wagner had eight siblings, five sisters and three brothers. He never had
much talent in music when he was attending a school in Dresden, Germany. He played the piano a
horrible way and his teacher told him he wouldn t be much because he couldn t manage to play
properly (Newman 46). He had trouble understanding the terms of the music as a child he knew what
they use where he just didn t know how they were announced. He also struggled in his life when it
came to see who his father was even some would say Richard s facial features resembled his father
Carl Friedrich Wagner who passed away just months after he was born, but an actor named Ludwig
Geyer who married Wagner s mother was on the list of whether he was the father or not. While the

Even though Canadian government are showing protective approach presently because of several

Decline Roman Empire
In the period circa 600 B.C.E to 600 C.E., imperial decline and collapse was caused partly by over
expansion, a failing economy due to overspending, and external invasions by barbarian tribes as
shown by the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 C.E..
One main cause of the decline and collapse of the Roman Empire was over expansion of territory
which led to the empire becoming too large to govern successfully and overall decentralization. At its
zenith during Pax Romana, the empire extended from the Atlantic Ocean to the Euphrates River in the
Middle East and also consisted of parts of North Africa. As the empire began expanding farther from
its administrative center, the Romans were unable to communicate quickly or effectively enough in
order to control their territory. With such a vast empire, Romans struggled to deploy sufficient troops
and resources to defend the borders and frontiers from rebellions and external invasions. This also led
to the emperor, Hadrian, building his famous wall in order to protect the British Isles from foreign
attacks. Furthermore, the Roman Empire became comprised of many different cultures as it expanded.
Some conquered people retained their own individual cultural identity by keeping their own religion ...

the most successful musicians across the globe gather for the Grammy Awards. Ever since 1959, the
world has tuned into their televisions to get a glimpse of the most popular awards show in the United
States. Recently in 2016, the Grammys committee changed a very controversial rule. Traditionally
artists that were unsigned to a record label were unable to be nominated for an award. The new rule,
however now allows unsigned artists to be nominated for a Grammy. This used to be a controversial

A newer kind of music app has changed all of that. This new app is called SoundCloud. This app

tremendously due to the new Grammy rule. The Grammys has opened up a whole new world for both
SoundCloud and unsigned artists. In this statement made by Bill Freimuth, The Grammys aren t just
peer awarded, they re peer driven, he reiterated the idea that unsigned artists are humble and deserve
to be awarded for their work. Another big reason for this rule change is the recent petitions made by
several artists that have raised concerns about this issue. A petition was started in 2016 by a group of
independent artists as you may be able to conclude, they got enough signatures to raise awareness for
this topic. This quote made by Bill Freimuth, Streaming is here and probably here to stay, admits that
the Grammys need to be more lenient on certain rules. Unsigned artists should be able to participate in
the Grammys because it engages a wider audience and gives opportunities to new artists. Musicians

of events that were discovered. For example, The Great Library of Alexandria did not exist in during
this time period. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized scene where the
Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library attempting to save the
important books. This was not a factual depiction of this event. The Great Library was actually built in
288 B.C. and destroyed in 48 B.C. The movie s setting is based around the 4th century A.D. which is a
clear indication that the library was no longer in existence.* Another example of the film s inaccuracy
is the account and event of Hypatia s death. In the film, her death was the result of her knowledge and
her ability to reason which labeled her as a witch. In addition, her death did not have anything to do
with her religious beliefs or the fact that she was a woman. Hypatia s death was due to politics. In the
film, a follower of Cyril threw a stone at Orestes, the man was arrested, tortured and later killed. In
revenge, the Christians became outraged and agreed to kill the person who Orestes loved most which
was Hypatia ( ). Therefore, the film s depiction of Hypatia being killed

Netflix And Vs. Hulu
The idea of this show would work best with Netflix and or Hulu. Netflix would be the best fit as their
catalog has a wider range of choices and are more experimental in their stories than typical
mainstream media. Their budget is also higher which I believe would be an added benefit for a show
like this that would be shooting on location more so than on a soundstage, or at least for the city
exteriors. The form of the show would not be a typical sitcom camera set up but more like how Netflix
shoots Master of None (2015 present) or Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (2015 present). I feel like the
camera would be less static and more cinematic. There would be longer tracking shots to give the
audience a sense of being there with these characters. The story is meant to be intimate and that they
are there with Julianna, going through these struggles life throws at her. A typically, sitcom set feels as
though the audience is looking into the characters lives versus being immersed into the story itself.
The eight to thirteen episodes seems like a better fit for this type of a comedy as well. Instead of trying
to stretch out a season of twenty something episodes it makes more sense to try and keep the story line
conscious and building off of each other. In recent years tv shows have stopped being episodes that
can be stand alone. A viewer cannot just tune in to any random episode of say Stranger Things () and
understand what is happening. Instead they have to watch every episode to

Disability Rights Movement
Disability has been a difficult topic of society for years. Many people find discomfort in the presence
of the disabled and many feel pity for those who are disabled. Back in the 1800s, the disabled were
perceived as unable to contribute to society, often forced to undergo sterilization, and forced into
institutions and asylums ( A Brief History ). In fact, this treatment of the disabled and mentally ill has
been persistent until somewhat recently, when the Civil Rights movement took place, and those with
disabilities decided to take a stand for their rights. Although people with disabilities continue to face
difficulties in finding jobs, legitimizing their opinion, having the right to vote, and choosing whether

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Animation
INTRODUCTION
Animation is a process of creating an illusion of motion or movement or any change of shape of any
object or body by means of rapid display of a sequence of images that were different from each other.
It is a process of displaying still images. In animation, processes done by frames and in 1 sec 24
frames were cut to make an image.
The meaning of animation is to convert REAL WORLD into VIRTUAL WORLD. To animate
everything (non living thing) into virtual world. Basically to show everything real which would not be
possible in real world but it would in virtual world.
Animation starts by collecting various independent pictures and putting together to form the illusion
of continuous motion.

Also known as Hand Written animation. Traditional or cel animation is the most popular form of
animation that involves hand drawn images. It was followed in 20th century. The process started by
deciding a story. The frames which were drawn by hand are basically photographs of drawing, first
drawn on a paper to create an illusion of movement where each frame or drawing must be different
from one another. The digital scanning has replaced the cel animation but the look is still preserved

I ve always been interested in the field of medicine. When I was being born, I almost died, being

I want to have an impact on the quality of life for others, and I think the University of Pennsylvania is

findings, the tools to excel at UPenn are readily available, and I plan to excel. I find this, more than

Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could see
this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a poem
about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to symbolize
an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title may give the
impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but some words and
phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind.
The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath (Roethke, 1)
already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to remember this experience
with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may have been a drunk. He remembers
his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major role in the entire experience itself. The
speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol
on his breath was so strong it made him feel lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been
drinking heavily and the fact that it made him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out
for an occasional drink. However, even though the boy felt sick he still held on to his father closely,

Why Drawing Is Drawing
A person can have many skills, whether it be good or bad. Someone could paint really well or could be
a disastrous cook. There are many common skills such as doing underwater handstands and then there
are skills that are absolutely out of the blue, for example bending their index finger backwards down
the wrist. My skill isn t too common though it isn t very unique either. My skill isn t painting or
cooking, or even having strangely, stretchy fingers. My skill is drawing. Drawing is one of my
passions, because it is a good stress reliever and it can help express emotion. Drawing is very useful
for when I m upset and need something to boost my moralemood and is comforting for just a normal,
rainy day activity. I especially draw especially when I m bored or trying to pass time. Some people
agree, and find drawing fun, but others may find it frustrating or boring. I enjoy drawing because it
lets me work at my own pace. I casually sketch, whether it be for a novel or just a plain doodle, I find
a way to maneuver it into random pieces of work. I could be working on notes, and sooner or later
have a mural on the sides of the paper. This is funny considering that when I get an actual sketching
pad, the sketches look horrible, but on a sheet of scratched up ... Show more content on

Tip #3
Here is another tip to open that most stubborn jar. Take a cloth, a rubber glove or even a dryer sheet.

Essay On The Red Queen
Name Professor s name Course Date, Film Paper: The Red Queen
The Red Queen is a documentary made by the Discovery channel. It tells about a study of ancient
remnants of the Maya woman. She was buried honorably, like an important member of the ruling
dynasty. Researchers did not ascertain the woman s identity, but provided enough evidences to suggest
she was Tzakbu Ajaw, the wife of Pakal II, one of the greatest Maya rulers, who headed the
government of Palenque. The movie also provided insights in the women s role in ancient Maya life.
The movie portrays the woman as a noble person. Her tomb and used mortuary ceremonies were
similar to procedures that were applied to king s bodies. Red Queen was around 50 60 years old when
she died. Woman s teeth showed she had a high quality diet, but it did not save her from abscesses in
the mouth. Red Queen had children, and several pregnancies could be a possible cause of her

only second roles as mothers and wives of rulers, who give them male successors. Their positions
were not limited by these duties; for example, Maya believed women can contact with ancestors, when
they sacrifice their blood. They also admitted females intelligence and ability to make decisions, if
they existed. Women were not prohibited from the throne, but Maya did not like such derogation from
traditions and chose them as rulers only it was the only way to maintain the kingdom. So they often
stayed in charge as grey cardinals . This role was chosen by Sak K uk , the mother of Pakal II and one
of the potential identities of the Red Queen. She could not come into throne, so she named her son for
this post, when he was 12 years old. Sak K uk ruled the country openly without any complains from

Inequality in British Schools
Is there a problem of Inequality in British schools?
The educational system is one of the most influential institutions in society as it provides young
people with a vast amount of knowledge, attitudes and skills. These are acquired formally through set
lessons or informally through the hidden curriculum which provides the unofficial and unplanned
consequences of school experience. Social Inequality is one of the major preoccupations of sociology.
The relationship between inequality and education has been studied for many years. Although it seems
obvious that educational success is simply down to an individual s capabilities and motivation,
sociological research shows that the inequalities in social class, gender and race and ethnicity ... Show

On the other hand if the teacher labels a pupil as un co operative or from a poor background, this can
cause low self esteem and the pupil will be likely to fail to achieve much success.
The Neo Marxist s perspective on class stratification in Britain claims that schools create a false class
consciousness so it seems that they promote equal opportunities for all, but they really reproduce a
capitalist division of labour, preparing young people for class determined careers in the labour market.
Willis (1977) accepts the Marxist s view on education being closely linked to the needs of the
capitalist s system; however he does not agree with the idea of there being a direct link between
education and the economy. (Macionis. J, Plummer.K, 2008)
His study found that poorer children often grow up in environments where people see little hope of
upward social mobility and rebel against the system rather than trying to conform with in. In such an
environment adults often discourage rather than encourage success at school. (Macionis. J,
Plummer.K, 2008)
Social class is not the only inequality in Britain s schooling. Sociologists have also found a link
between gender and academic success. Until the late 1980 s there was high concern about the
underachievement of girls. Societies had been structured to consider schooling more important for
males than for females. Although the gap in gender

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. Quotes like this
come from the one and only, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, or what he s commonly known as
Mahatma Gandhi. He peacefully brought people together to boycott against British rule, and rebelled
against what he believed was wrong. Before all of his, Gandhi was born on October 2nd 1869, in
Porbandar, Kathiawar, India which was at the time apart of the British empire. He had what seemed to
be a short childhood, marrying at thirteen years old in an arranged marriage with Kasturba Makanji.
This soon caused his early rebel teen years which was, smoking, eating meat, and stealing change
from household servants. (Biography.com Editors 1). He had little interest in school, but kept average
grades due to his father s expectations in his academics. He went on to study western culture in
London, England for three years and struggled through his studies. While staying there he started
reading a variety of sacred texts about different religions, learning about the different cultures and

Touch Screen Technology

touch screen technology has been on the rise since the early 1960 s. According to New Interfaces at

touch technology, followed by further examining how two common touch technologies, capacitive and

technicality of how they work, it s important to take a look at the history and evolution of its making.
The timeline published on NPR by Nicole Cohen, A History Of Touch Screen Technology allows one

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Foreign Direct Investment
In all countries that are concerned to trade relations, they follow a trade policy which defines
standards, goals, rules and regulations between two or more countries. These policies are particular to
each country and are formulated by its public officials. A country s trade policy includes taxes
imposed on import and export, examination regulations, and tariffs. Their aim is to boost the nation s
international trade (Azzam, H., T. 2002). One of these several trade policies is the foreign direct
investment that encounters an investment in an industry by a shareholder from another country, for
which the foreign investor has control over the company purchase.
Let s talk about Investment from one country into another normally by companies rather than

Plastic Persuasive Speech
Yes, you read that correctly. Currently, I am trying to cut plastic out of my life, and so is Charleston.
Why, you ask? There are so many reasons, but I ll start with this:
By the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Here s the scoop
Plastic never, ever, ever, ever, ever goes away. It will continue to break down, but it will never fully
decompose. What does this mean for our ocean? It means that more and more plastic is getting into
our waterways and ocean life is consuming the plastic, thinking it is food. Unfortunately, they are
being poisoned by our trash. They are also consuming it, and think about this, then we eat that fish,
which means we are consuming the plastic YUCK!
How is plastic getting into our oceans in such large quantities? Some of it is coming from boats, but
this is a very small quantity. Most of it is simply coming from littering. This means littering on the
beach, on our streets, etc. Think about how our litter gets blown into the sewer...then it eventually
makes it way into the ocean.
So, what can you do to cut out plastic? First, start looking around you. Becoming aware of how much
plastic you encounter on a daily basis is a huge eye opener. Plastic is everywhere. There is the the
plastic that helps you (medical equipment, your car, etc.). Then, there is one time use, convenient
plastics (straws, styrofoam containers, plastic bags/baggies, etc.).
Once you start becoming aware of what

This printing press idea quickly spread throughout Europe and later to the Americas (YouHis2).
Afterwards, around the 1700s, when the use of newspapers began to be an everyday publication,
advertisements started being printed in them, even if the advertisements were simple at the time.
Newspapers became the first medium to be conquered by advertisement. In 1721, Benjamin Franklin
founded the Pennsylvania Gazette, the second newspaper made in the Americas. What was special
about it is that it had pictures accompanying the ads to help the people understand better their product,
which was the difference with his close relative, The Boston Gazette, which had pictureless ads
(YouHis3). Since the eighteenth century, most newspapers have relied on advertisements for part of
their profit, and they have been developing advertising bit by bit.
Following the example of the newspapers, radio programming began using advertisements. These
advertisements were very slow and repetitive sonnets that companies used to get people to know their
products. These advertisements started in the late 1800s, with their lengths being fairly short. They
never extended past a minute. To compensate for the brevity of the ads, companies would repeat the
same ad many times between radio programs.
Then, the invention of television came along. Advertisements on television captivated everyone s

The Negative Effects Of Gress Stress And Its Effects On...
Through the fast pace of today s economy and job market in the United States, students are constantly
being asked to do more in order to maintain a competitive edge. Although, obtaining such an edge
might promote a positive outcome, there are also negative responses that essentially hurt students as
individuals and the American job market as a whole. The constant government and societal push
towards measuring up to the rest of the world is essentially, harming students more than it is
promoting them.
Although stress stress isn t always a negative aspect, in extreme situations, it can prove to be very
unhealthy. The American Psychological Association has found that Teens report that their stress level
during the school year far exceeds what they believe to be healthy... The association also says that
Many teens also report feeling overwhelmed (31 percent) and depressed or sad (30 percent) as a result
of stress. The stress that students are experiencing is not the problem as much as the consequences that
come from it. Depression and lack of motivation can result from too much pressure upon students, and
these negative side effects can cancel any of the positively intended effects. From elementary school
to college, the American school system is constantly striving to keep up with that of other countries.
This constant motivation can be very toxic to the entire cause at hand. The University of La Verne

Unappropriate Tv Shows for Children
Unappropriate Television Shows Abstract Children are being influenced by television shows on a
daily basis. Some children are watching inappropriate television shows such as SpongeBob, Fish
Hooks, Family Guy, South Park, Ed, Edd, Eddy, Scooby Doo, Boondocks and etc. These shows can
affect children as they grow up in many ways such as using profanity, violent and aggressive behavior,
poor school performance and watch too much television may cause a slight obesity. There are many
educational television shows that are best for child to watch such as Barney, Blue s Clue, Dora the
Explorer and etc. Parent should also limit the amount of time children spend watching television.

How is there such a big impact on them just because of watching television? Television can affect
learning and school performance if it interferes with the time kids need for activities crucial to healthy
mental and physical development. Some shows (SpongeBob) teaches that it is fine to commit an
inappropriate action because there will not be a punishment and kids feel that if they do the same thing
as their favorite character from the program who committed the crime they will be a hero. Researchers
have identified three potential responses to media violence in children: increase fear, desensitization to
real life violence, and increase aggressive behavior. It may desensitve kids so much they think it is
okay and no big deal for somebody to be hit or to hit someone in the head with a hammer. Kids who
view violent acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior, but also fear that the world is scary and
that everyday something bad will happen. Scary looking things like grotesque monsters especially
frighten children aged two to seven. Telling them that the images aren t real does not help because
kids under age eight can t always tell the difference between fantasy and reality (Television and
Children). When watching a television shows usually every episode has a bad situation or a lot of
drama in it so kids will start to have that mind frame that things will happen to them just like on the
show. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that kids under

Comparison Of Gnosticism In The Truman Show And The Da...
In modern day society, there are several ways in which the belief of Gnosticism is gradually being
circulated throughout our culture. One popular way that Gnostic concepts are being easily dispersed is
through the film industry. In widespread movies such as The Matrix, The Truman Show and The Da
Vinci Code, the presence of underlying Gnostic themes is undeniable. While each of these movies do
not encompass Gnosticism as a whole, there are certain Gnostic themes that are strongly represented
within each of the movies. For example, in The Da Vinci Code there is a huge focus on the existence
of a divine feminine principle just as the Gnostics believe in their religion. This example shown here
is the Gnostic theme that will be focused on the most throughout this essay. By comparing the divine
feminine principle within Gnostic texts with the feminine principle in the film The Da Vinci Code, I
will demonstrate the ways that the feminine principle in The Da Vinci Code relates with the one from
Gnosticism. However, these divine females must first be described ... Show more content on

After being denied the assistance of becoming impregnated by the First Principle, Sophia decided that
she would create offspring on her own. Her plan backfires on her and her offspring ends up stealing
her light and creating the material world that we humans reside in today. This creator of the material
world is known as Ialtabaoth (Layton, Page 36). Now Sophia s central purpose is to descend down to
the material world that her damaged offspring created and remind the people of this world that the
spiritual world is our real home. This process is what the Gnostics call enlightenment and this is the
only way to achieve true acquaintance with the spiritual realm. Sophia is the savior who bridges the
gap between the human ignorance and the Gnostic truth. She is the only hope for revealing the
supposed spiritual

  • 2. Analysis Of Johnny Depp, By Edward Scissorhands Johnny Depp, is one of the most talented physical actors of this age. His unique and often wacky movements make each of his characters stand out. Most famous for his role as the ridiculous pirate captain Jack Sparrow, form Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp is also widely known for a number of other interesting characters in a number of other interesting shows, one of his earliest being Edward Scissorhands, in Edward Scissorhands (1990). The expansion of Depp s use of physical movement is tremendous between Edward Scissor hands ad Pirates of the Caribbean. And though they both differ tremendously in personality and physicality, they still maintain the wacky persona that is so characteristic of Johnny Depp. First let us analyze whether or not Depp centers each character. And the answer is that he centers both, but each differently. Edward Scissorhands is very centered, but definitely not comfortably centered. Although he stands erect, he stands with his head pulled back and his back very stiff, and his adds to the bizarreness of his strange character. Who stands like that? No one. It is interesting how just a little abnormality in posture can bring out abnormality in the entire character. Additionally, the way that Depp centers Edward Scissorhands, with his head constantly either pull back too far jutted forward in moments of interest add to the emotions of curiosity and apprehension that are so strong in this character. Depp s second character, the famous Jack Sparrow, is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What fool would dare say such a thing! After all the definition of God says that it is the supreme being and the divine creator, not the divine creation. So of course God created man, right? Or shall we dig a little deeper into this question and examine it from the other side? Is God just a figment of mans elaborate imagination? Could it be that God is a mythological tool used by man to manipulate the mind to give explanations to the unexplainable? If this is true then humans created god. Intellectual Property Rights And Digital Pirating INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND DIGITAL PIRATING Luke Telfer STATEMENT OF THE ISSUE The idea of intellectual property can be traced back to ancient Greece with the first known reference involving the protection of culinary recipes developed by chefs. According to the World Intellectual Property Organization, intellectual property refers to creations of the mind: inventions; literary and artistic works; and symbols, names and images used in commerce. The violation of intellectual property rights can take many forms, however the main ethical issue to be examined here is that of digital piracy of copyrighted artistic works and of the variety that involves individual consumption of such material (as opposed to blatant profiteering of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS There are several approaches to defending the idea of intellectual property rights, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Such approaches generally take one of three largely teleological forms: personality theory, utilitarian rationale, and Lockean arguments. Each of these forms advocates for the value of intellectual property rights in general and not specifically toward any particular type of intellectual property. Personality Theory Personality based justifications for intellectual property stem largely from Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel s ideas on human will, personality, and freedom. Hegel insists that human will is the fundamental property of existence and that our will is perpetually trying to achieve actuality. This eternal struggle is therefore the essence of personality and it is in part manifested externally through our property. With this view in mind, creative works are necessarily the property of the creator and the creator ought to have complete control over them. This is an important view for many forms of creation, but it is relatively unclear in how it pertains to digital copies of a creation. For example, defacing a classical painting would be seen as immoral even if the perpetrator has legally acquired ownership of the painting because the creator still has certain rights over the creation. However, if a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Concept Of The Looking Glass Self Sociology 1110 Winter 2015 Assignment 4 Expository Explanatory Paper The increase in interest to the problem of communication in sociology actualized questions of understanding the nature of the individual. This determined the weakening of the behaviorist tradition, which is characterized by a nihilistic attitude to the study of psychological processes and the determination of the human life as a manifestation of the externally observable behavior (by analogy with the animal reaction). The interactionist approach in sociology has been formed and it refers to the integrity of the human personality and self determination in the micro social environment. In this research paper, I want to consider the interactionist theory, as it perfectly reflects micro social processes and explain the nature of human identity. The Self Concept The concept of the looking glass self is one of the first concepts of personality psychology, sociology. It does not come from the internal characteristics of the person, but from the recognition of the crucial role of the interaction of individuals, who act in relation to each other as standing in a front of a mirror. William James, who was American philosopher and psychologist, was the first, who began to develop problems with The self concept. James used fixed language structures in order to distinguish different aspects of a single integrated Self , who is the individual himself. However, some of these changes risk having an impact on the rosy future they foresee for Creamy Creations. Currently, Creamy Creations is still profitable and the financial numbers have rose since they took over management, but there are few things I do not think Burger Barn put any consideration into when they looked at the current state of the business and the future they foresee if business continues down the glories trail it is on currently. One of the things I feel Burger Barn did not consider when they predicted the future of Creamy Creations, is that Creamy Creations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They will start to be more infrequent with their visits to the shoppe and eventually the shoppe will have a chance of becoming a prime example of a tourist restaurant. This can cause the Ice Cream Shoppe to become more seasonal then year round. Burger Barn also needs to think about the high employee turnover. This could cause a business to go under really fast. If you get a reputation of never having a more regular staff, customers are going to start to receive huge variances in customer service and they may not return and you have a huge possibility of losing clientele. Also, you have a possibility of running out of people willing to work for a place which seems to not treat the employees well. People will wonder this because why else would the turnover rate be so high and the only constant would be the ownership or management. These are all reasons why Burger Barn should not be so optimistic about the future of Creamy Creations. There are few things that still need to be tweaked before they can really start to be optimistic. Some of the principles of classical management have been reflected in what has happened at Creamy Creations. One of those principles is that management is making all of the decisions. Based off of the case study, Burger Barns executives have made all of the decisions without any input from the staff. The other principle which reflects on Creamy Creations is the division of labor. Abstract In this essay I shall analyze Barack Obama s Inaugural Address, January, 2009 from the perspective of various linguistic techniques. Having been skillfully coordinated, they create the 1 performance that aims the delivery of the message. I will focus on the structural and functional properties of the language, the combination of which enables the speaker to achieve the goal of the performance. In chapter 2, I will introduce the historical and cultural context in which the speech was made. Context is defined as circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or an idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood (Oxford Dictionary of English, context noun). Defining the term context as dynamic, Mey states that it is about understanding what things are for; it is also what gives our utterance their true pragmatic meaning (41). The context is vital for analysis of any speech, particularly made in public. I will draw attention to the historical, cultural and social circumstances during the election campaign, which preceded the Presidential address. In subchapter 2.1, the cultural and social background of Obama will be described. During a presidential campaign, any personal details of a candidate may be significant; they indicate the electors preferences and, possibly, expectations. A President s address, in turn, is based on audience s expectations. That is why, I think, this aspect should be taken into account while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement to come from early church history is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon. While we may not put much thought into it today, which books should be included or excluded from the New Testament was once the center of much controversy. It took the church many years to settle upon the current collection of books as being the proper Canon, making it more of a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a universal Canon was only realized after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian heretic Marcion. Marcion s collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the church through councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books became part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of the church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. The selection of books that were to be included or excluded from the texts used by the church was the responsibility of each individual church body, and thus varied greatly from location to location. • 13. Astronomy Observations Astronomy Observing Report. On Monday, June 26, I had the opportunity to observe some planets and stars with the help of professor Lowry and his amazing telescope. What I saw and learned that night about Saturn, Jupiter and the constellations was remarkable and complemented what I have being learning in my astronomy course. The night of the observation was a clear night. The sun was out, it was 9:30 pm and we could see the yellow and orange spectrum of the sun. This was a great example of what happen to the Northern Hemisphere in June solstice, when days are longer. Similarities Between Rosa Parks And Martin Luther King I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. Martin Luther King Jr spoke these words at the Civil Rights March on August 28, 1963. The words above may seem worthless, but to the people in attendance at the protest, they meant the world. It gave them hope, perseverance, a shimmer of light in the dark times. Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome. This is one of Rosa Parks more famous quotes. In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. was sent to jail because he protested the treatment of african americans in Birmingham, Alabama. Not only does this go against his right to freedom of petition, but it also goes against his right to freedom of speech. Basically, an ulcer is a hole in the lining of your stomach that can be caused by stress and poor nutrition. I chose this topic because my parents have season tickets to Albany Devils games and I either go to them when I am home or watching them on my laptop when I am at school. My elements where the first 30 games of 2016 like stated before, and my variables were goals for, goals against, the result of the game and the distance traveled. The elements are listed by the day and I also listed who the opponent was so one can tell if it was an away game or a home game. For the first variable, result of the game, I put the outcomes in a table and also made a pie chart showing their frequency. There were four possible outcomes, win, loss, overtime loss, and shootout loss. The reason why I did this variable is because each result helps or hurts the team in some way. When the team gets a win in any way they get two points, when they lose in regulation, they get two points, and if they lose in either overtime or in a shootout they only get one point. Turns out the Albany Devils won over half of their first 30 games in 2016, with a total of 18 wins. They earn zero points in seven of the sampled games. In 17% of the sampled games they earn only one point per game. The team did not even have one overtime loss. The Albany Devils earned 41 of the possible 60 points up for grabs from January second to March thirteenth helping them make it into the Calder Cup Playoffs for the second time in the past three seasons. That man was Wilhelm Richard Wagner he was known for his operas and other compositions which influenced many other composers. Wagner wrote many amazing operas, compositions, and poetic lyrics. Some think he wasn t so important, but some even think he was one of the best holding him up to Beethoven for his compositions (Furness 7). Wagner s best composition from his career is a composition called Der Rings Des Nibelungen, which is a composition that is eighteen hours long and four operas which had reoccurring themes connecting them all together. Firstly, Richard Wagner was born on May 22 ,1813 in Leipzig, Germany. Wagner had eight siblings, five sisters and three brothers. He never had much talent in music when he was attending a school in Dresden, Germany. He played the piano a horrible way and his teacher told him he wouldn t be much because he couldn t manage to play properly (Newman 46). He had trouble understanding the terms of the music as a child he knew what they use where he just didn t know how they were announced. He also struggled in his life when it came to see who his father was even some would say Richard s facial features resembled his father Carl Friedrich Wagner who passed away just months after he was born, but an actor named Ludwig Geyer who married Wagner s mother was on the list of whether he was the father or not. • 20. Decline Roman Empire In the period circa 600 B.C.E to 600 C.E., imperial decline and collapse was caused partly by over expansion, a failing economy due to overspending, and external invasions by barbarian tribes as shown by the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 C.E.. One main cause of the decline and collapse of the Roman Empire was over expansion of territory which led to the empire becoming too large to govern successfully and overall decentralization. At its zenith during Pax Romana, the empire extended from the Atlantic Ocean to the Euphrates River in the Middle East and also consisted of parts of North Africa. As the empire began expanding farther from its administrative center, the Romans were unable to communicate quickly or effectively enough in order to control their territory. With such a vast empire, Romans struggled to deploy sufficient troops and resources to defend the borders and frontiers from rebellions and external invasions. This also led to the emperor, Hadrian, building his famous wall in order to protect the British Isles from foreign attacks. In this statement made by Bill Freimuth, The Grammys aren t just peer awarded, they re peer driven, he reiterated the idea that unsigned artists are humble and deserve to be awarded for their work. • 24. Inaccuracies In Agora Agora There may have been some controversies about Hypatia s spiritual beliefs, however, her devotion, knowledge, and perseverance can be admired by all. This movie depicted some accurate historical facts and events surrounding the life of Hypatia in Alexandria. However, there were some inaccuracies of events that were discovered. For example, The Great Library of Alexandria did not exist in during this time period. During the center portion of the movie, there was a dramatized scene where the Christians were attacking the Agora while the Pagans were in the library attempting to save the important books. This was not a factual depiction of this event. The Great Library was actually built in 288 B.C. and destroyed in 48 B.C. The movie s setting is based around the 4th century A.D. which is a clear indication that the library was no longer in existence.* Another example of the film s inaccuracy is the account and event of Hypatia s death. In the film, her death was the result of her knowledge and her ability to reason which labeled her as a witch. In addition, her death did not have anything to do with her religious beliefs or the fact that she was a woman. Hypatia s death was due to politics. In the film, a follower of Cyril threw a stone at Orestes, the man was arrested, tortured and later killed. In revenge, the Christians became outraged and agreed to kill the person who Orestes loved most which was Hypatia ( ). Therefore, the film s depiction of Hypatia being killed ... • 25. Netflix And Vs. Hulu The idea of this show would work best with Netflix and or Hulu. Netflix would be the best fit as their catalog has a wider range of choices and are more experimental in their stories than typical mainstream media. Their budget is also higher which I believe would be an added benefit for a show like this that would be shooting on location more so than on a soundstage, or at least for the city exteriors. The form of the show would not be a typical sitcom camera set up but more like how Netflix shoots Master of None (2015 present) or Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (2015 present). I feel like the camera would be less static and more cinematic. There would be longer tracking shots to give the audience a sense of being there with these characters. The story is meant to be intimate and that they are there with Julianna, going through these struggles life throws at her. A typically, sitcom set feels as though the audience is looking into the characters lives versus being immersed into the story itself. The eight to thirteen episodes seems like a better fit for this type of a comedy as well. Instead of trying to stretch out a season of twenty something episodes it makes more sense to try and keep the story line conscious and building off of each other. In recent years tv shows have stopped being episodes that can be stand alone. A viewer cannot just tune in to any random episode of say Stranger Things () and understand what is happening. • 29. Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could see this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a poem about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to symbolize an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title may give the impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but some words and phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind. The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath (Roethke, 1) already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to remember this experience with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may have been a drunk. He remembers his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major role in the entire experience itself. The speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol on his breath was so strong it made him feel lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been drinking heavily and the fact that it made him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out for an occasional drink. The Neo Marxist s perspective on class stratification in Britain claims that schools create a false class consciousness so it seems that they promote equal opportunities for all, but they really reproduce a capitalist division of labour, preparing young people for class determined careers in the labour market. Willis (1977) accepts the Marxist s view on education being closely linked to the needs of the capitalist s system; however he does not agree with the idea of there being a direct link between education and the economy. (Macionis. J, Plummer.K, 2008) His study found that poorer children often grow up in environments where people see little hope of upward social mobility and rebel against the system rather than trying to conform with in. In such an environment adults often discourage rather than encourage success at school. (Macionis. J, Plummer.K, 2008) Social class is not the only inequality in Britain s schooling. Sociologists have also found a link between gender and academic success. Until the late 1980 s there was high concern about the underachievement of girls. Societies had been structured to consider schooling more important for males than for females. Although the gap in gender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One serious economic threat restaurants will be facing in the near future is the rise in minimum income. Wages already account for upwards of 35% of a restaurant s costs (10), and this increase will force restaurants to raise their prices or experience less profits. Restaurants are considered a luxury product, not necessarily a necessity. This industry thrives when the economy is growing and people have disposable income, however a decline in the economy would undoubtedly cause much stress and worry among restaurant ... What was special about it is that it had pictures accompanying the ads to help the people understand better their product, which was the difference with his close relative, The Boston Gazette, which had pictureless ads (YouHis3). Since the eighteenth century, most newspapers have relied on advertisements for part of their profit, and they have been developing advertising bit by bit. Following the example of the newspapers, radio programming began using advertisements. Through the fast pace of today s economy and job market in the United States, students are constantly being asked to do more in order to maintain a competitive edge. Although, obtaining such an edge might promote a positive outcome, there are also negative responses that essentially hurt students as individuals and the American job market as a whole. The constant government and societal push towards measuring up to the rest of the world is essentially, harming students more than it is promoting them. Although stress stress isn t always a negative aspect, in extreme situations, it can prove to be very unhealthy. The American Psychological Association has found that Teens report that their stress level during the school year far exceeds what they believe to be healthy... The association also says that Many teens also report feeling overwhelmed (31 percent) and depressed or sad (30 percent) as a result of stress. The stress that students are experiencing is not the problem as much as the consequences that come from it. One popular way that Gnostic concepts are being easily dispersed is through the film industry. In widespread movies such as The Matrix, The Truman Show and The Da Vinci Code, the presence of underlying Gnostic themes is undeniable. While each of these movies do not encompass Gnosticism as a whole, there are certain Gnostic themes that are strongly represented within each of the movies. For example, in The Da Vinci Code there is a huge focus on the existence of a divine feminine principle just as the Gnostics believe in their religion. This example shown here is the Gnostic theme that will be focused on the most throughout this essay. By comparing the divine feminine principle within Gnostic texts with the feminine principle in the film The Da Vinci Code, I will demonstrate the ways that the feminine principle in The Da Vinci Code relates with the one from Gnosticism.
