Graduation Speech Essay examples
To the County High School Class of 2012: As you sit in front of me, I know what most of you are
thinking at the moment. There are those who are already pondering about what life without high
school will be like; those who are debating whether or not to tell your crush tonight about your
whispers of adoration you ve secretly held for four years; some simply want to get out of that ungodly
chair, get that thing that isn t really a diploma but only tells you when to pick up the thing, and then be
the first one on the green bus to the grad party you know who you are. And the rest, well, the rest aren

For the moment, please do not dwell on the past or even look into the future, there s time for that later.
Instead, I ask that you give up a few minutes of your lives to sit back, let that gown flow and enjoy the
final curtain call of your high school career. Enjoy the sights and sounds of today, right now; and be
aware of the mindfulness opening your senses and releasing your inhibitions can summon.
Feel the tingle on your eyes; it is trying to tell you something so pay attention to it. Look, do you see
it? That s anxiety, a thick and pulsating anxiety that is flowing through the air right now from person
to person. It is a stream of consciousness that is multiplied in this medium only because we all have
the same questions: Do I have time to go to the bathroom? When will this Asian fool shut up? Who is
this guy sitting next to me and why is he so ugly? The anxiety will not die. Capture the anxiety in your
mind as a visual aspect of tonight. Remember it.
Let the twitch in your ear awake your emotions. Listen carefully. It s the sound of a gloomy day. What
is usually a dismal tune is now replaced with the bittersweet melody of our graduation ceremony
under the clouds. Ask yourself, when was the last time you realized the song, instead of the sight of a
day? Capture the drizzle as an audio aspect of tonight. Remember it.

Pros And Cons Of Protein Supplements
Pumped on protein: Can a shake ever be as good as a plate of food? by Ann Robinson was posted on
TheGaurdian.com on Wednesday, the first of February of this year. In the article, there is an obvious
controversy presented directly in the title. Can a shake ever be as good as a plate of food? The article
states that there has been a rise in interest of these protein shakes in recent years, even sharing a
statistic that shows that within the last three months at least 42% of males between the ages of 16 and
24 had consumed some form of protein supplement. With such a statistic one would come to believe
that these protein supplements must have some sort of special formula within that makes them so
popular. But with any sort of opinionated article there are going to be those who agree, and those who
disagree that a protein supplement could be just as nutritious as a well rounded meal. Some
stakeholders who would likely say that protein shakes are beneficial are the supplement companies,
bodybuilders, athletes, and really anyone who may be health focused in general. ... Show more content

Protein supplements are generally cheaper than other protein sources for one. According to a man
interviewed in the article, those who are athletes and need to consume a lot of food in general, it
becomes much easier to drink a shake to regain lost nutrition and has found it to be much more
convenient than trying to consume all whole foods. Others who benefit from the consumption of
protein shakes are people who struggle with getting the recommended 0.75g of protein per kilogram
of bodyweight, especially plant based

Character Of Iago In Othello
To be consummately evil requires a capability to completely lack all strains of human morality. A
nearly perfect example of this is the antagonist Iago in Othello by William Shakespeare, who
cunningly works his evil throughout the whole play, especially in Act III. Iago is an intriguing and
complex character who instigates the tragedy of the play, but also is the embodiment of the negative
traits of the main protagonist, Othello. Iago is a master manipulator who excels in revealing and
exploiting people s weaknesses, such as Othello s insecurities and credulousness as well as Cassio s
general flirtatiousness and intolerance to alcohol, only to further his own agenda. Iago has been so
successful in manipulating Othello s loyal entourage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iago later plants it for Cassio to find, condemning him to Othello s wrath. Even though the
handkerchief is a just a trifle, once Othello discovers it in Cassio s possession, he sees it as
indisputable and divinely true proof that Desdemona is being unfaithful.
Iago utilizes the tools of society s racism and expectations for women as evident in his monologue in
Act III, scene iii. Not to affect many proposèd matches/Of her own clime, complexion, and
degree,/Whereto we see in all things nature tends /Foh! One may smell in such a will most rank,/Foul

with Desdemona if she would fall in love with a Moor instead of someone like Roderigo, a wealthy
Venetian gentleman of her own clime, complexion, and degree. Essentially, Iago implies that
Desdemona must be a wanton degenerate to have truly fallen for a man like Othello. Iago doesn t just
play on Othello s fears about his wife, but also on Othello s insecurities about his status as a black
Moor in sixteenth century Italy. The idea of Desdemona being an allegedly lascivious woman coupled
with Othello s insecurities about being an older black man waning in attractiveness and drive, delivers
a fatal blow to his self esteem. Being reaffirmed in this notion makes him more pliable to be
manipulated by Iago into making a fatal

The Importance Of Fairytales
Reading fairytales for a better growth to our youngest ones
A mother, an older sibling, an auntie, an uncle, a father, which one are you? Having a youngest one in
your family also carries with eminent responsibility behind it. You might find yourself in a situation
where you want them to grow up in a healthy environment. A healthy environment consists on a free
of violence mind. Children will most likely try to mimic or imitate what they observe, and it s
important to taught them the good rather than violent acts we see on TV, movies, and fairytales.
Although these characteristics aren t at a hundred percent responsibility on fairytales since a lot of
these values are thought from parents, most of the time children relies on the things they watch or
read, and for how less it seems it can make an impact on them. There s also multiple variants of this
magical story, however Charles Perrault s author of the French version of Cinderella offers a free of
violence narrative perfect for children and families to read together.
Firstly, Perrault s version is not only the best suitable for our youngest ones to read, but a very
entertaining one. Perrault s version it s violence free, but it keeps the magic of the story into
consistency. At a very young age, children will most likely try to mimic or imitate characteristics they
see on the people that surrounds them, shows they watch, and stories they re told. A Cinderella story is
not the exception for this. Any type of violence, for

The Federalists No. 10 Analysis
Have you heard of the word factions? Well, if you haven t factions are groups of citizens who unite
under a common interest or goal. James Madison wrote The Federalists No.10 , which was about how
he felt about factions The Federalists No.10 was set out to be heard by the American citizens, but
mainly the citizens of New York. James Madison was also known for his important contribution to the
overall creation of the Constitution that earned him the nickname Father of the Constitution later in
life. Madison wanted to ratify the Constitution also; Madison, John Jay and Anthony Hamilton (other
federalist) wrote the Federalist Papers. In The Federalists No.10 James Madison Says The latent
causes of faction are thus sown in the nature of man ; meaning if there were going to be factions they
had to be controlled. By removing the causes of factions, the liberty that is essential to its existence is
destroyed. Madison states that Liberty is to faction what air is to fire, an aliment without which it
instantly expires . Therefore, it is somewhat quite foolish to abolish liberty considering it is essential
to political life. Madison thinks it would be foolish to abolish ... Show more content on

In the fact of getting a large republic there had to be multiple amounts of controlled factions that kept
one another from becoming too powerful. Multiple factions play a positive role by counterbalancing
one another. Madison suggests that government can control itself better, if power is balanced so that
each person check on the other. In comparison to a mother and a child, the mother is going to make
sure the child doesn t fall flat on their face and the child is going to do the same. But not only would

Children Born in the U.S. to Illegal Immigrants Should NOT...
Illegal or Legal Children Children born in the U.S. to illegal immigrants should not become U.S.
citizens. Many pregnant immigrant women are illegally coming into the country just to have their
babies. These women get free medical attention for themselves and the baby. This is costing the U.S.
millions of dollars every year. It s time to end the policy that illegal immigrant mothers can stay in the
U.S. just because she has given birth to a child that is now a citizen. These mothers cross the border
illegally and they really have no consequences. They are breaking the law and should be punished for
it. The presence of a U.S. born child should not be used as an excuse not to enforce the law. In the

citizen. Without having a job she either has to obtain one illegally or get on welfare. The government
will provide low income housing, food stamps and free medical attention for her baby. About $500
million is now spent each year on providing the assistance, according to state officials. Not only are
we providing for the child we are also providing for the mother as well. Diversity contributes to
cultural enrichment. Many people support the law that children born to illegal immigrants should have
citizenship. The children are citizens by law according to the 14th amendment. This states all citizens
born in the U.S. have citizenship. The children born to illegal immigrants should have a right to have a
good life free from poverty and a good education. They are U.S. citizens according to the law. In many
aspects it is okay for that child to receive government assistance. I think the laws are unfair to these
children. The child should have a right to pursue his life as an American citizen. Many people want us
to believe that by punishing children, our nation s immigration problems will somehow magically
disappear. Unfortunately, absolutely no evidence exists that supports these claims. Families must
choose between splitting up, resulting in more single parent households and psychological and
financial hardship, or forcing their U.S. citizen children into deportation with them. These American
children may have to start over

Essay On Black Religion
The dark tint represents the large population of Africans in Africa before the Europeans came. Some
estimate that without slavery the population of Africa would have been double the 25m it had reached
by 1850 (BBC). Before Europeans invaded Africa, Africa had a population of 25 million people. The
large population helped Africa maintain strong kingdoms such as Axum and Mali.
The black color of the Supra represents the variety of traditional religions that different African groups
worshipped. The color black can represent all different religions since the mix of all colors make
black, therefore black can represent a mixture of many religions that different Africans practiced. The
first opinion is that there are several African Religions. The reason given is that these religions are
tribal / clan based and therefore there are as many religions as there are tribes / clans (African
Mission). The variety of traditional religions allowed Africans to practice any religion freely. When

Bowling Ethnography
Heather Dooley 10 Pound Balls We tend to think that bowling is a very simple and boring sport played
by only older men. I did my fieldwork at a bowling alley during two different leagues to explore the
different social interactions among bowlers. I learned that bowling is not limited to one specific age
group or gender. I also discovered there is a unique hierarchy among the bowlers that is not
determined by their age or gender. This social status is dependent upon their bowling average, type of
ball used, and the weight of their balls. I found there were many other social interactions that occurred
between smaller groups of bowlers such as teammates. I first entered the field during a Wednesday
night bowling league. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some men used them as a way to brag to the other men. They would say the reason another man is
bowling so bad is because he has a bad, cheap ball. I also noticed the men bowlers would use the
weight of their balls to poke fun at the other bowlers. They will compare their ball s weight to their
manhood or manliness. For instance, Wow, you re only using that little ten pound ball. Did you borrow
that from your girlfriend? Careful carrying that big sixteen pound ball you might not be big enough for
that yet. [pic] There are many different kinds of socialization among the bowlers. They joke and tease
each other, give tips on how to bowl better and they also play card games with their teammates. There
are two different types of games played among the different leagues. On Wednesday night they play a
game called Kiddy Pot. This is a money game played by the men bowlers only that corresponds to
how well you are playing. If you miss the five pin, throw a gutter ball, or miss the head pin twice you
lose a dollar. If you are hung, which in bowling terms means four members of your team strike or split
during the same frame but one does not, then the person who misses the strike loses two dollars. If all
five members of the team strike during the frame, the next frame whoever misses the strike loses a
dollar. At the end of the season all of the money lost playing this

Pacific Ocean In Life Of Pi
Setting: The Pacific Ocean and Pi s Emotional State (5) The climax and majority of story in Life of Pi
takes place in the vast pacific ocean. The entire plot and conflict is created by the harsh environment.
At times the description of Pi s surroundings is reflective of his emotional and mental condition. At a
point in time where Pi is confused, scared, and vulnerable, unsure of whether or not he would make it,
his environment shows just that. Darkness came. There was no moon. Clouds hid the stars. The
contour of things became hard to distinguish. Everything disappeared, the sea, the lifeboat, my own
body. The sea was quiet and there was hardly any wind, so I couldn t even ground myself in sound. I

The inability to differentiate the surrounding features are representative of Pi s uncertainty of his
ability to survive, both figuratively and literally, as he can no longer make out the dangerous predators

the loss of his entire family, the comparison between his emotions and immense emptiness of his
surroundings is quite apparent. This is not the only time where the ocean provides an insight to how Pi
is feeling and the state of his mind. In chapter 54 Pi spends hours coming up with, and switching
between plans, to eliminate Richard Parker. This constant distraction and fluctuating ideas is
paralleled in the way the rain and wind is reacting in the chapter. Shifts in the wind changed the
direction of the rain so that parts of me that were beginning to feel warm were soaked anew. I

Delta Air Pollution
The most polluted cities of the U.S are in California. One of these cities is Los Angeles and Long
Beach. Ports significantly contributes to regional air pollution. Vast amounts of air pollution that affect
the health of workers and people living in nearby is caused by diesel engines which power ships,
trucks, trains, and cargo handling equipment. In the Los Angeles area, oceangoing ships, harbor tugs,
and commercial boats such as passenger ferries emit many times more smog forming pollutants than
all power plants in the Southern California region combined (Harboring Pollution p3).
In addition, diesel exhaust increases cancer risks, and a 2000 California study found that diesel
exhaust is responsible for 70 percent of the cancer risk from air pollution (vi). In fact, recent studies
have linked diesel exhaust with asthma. Major air pollutants from diesel engines at ports that can
affect human health include; particulate matter (PM), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen
oxides (NOx), and sulfur oxides (SOx). (Harboring Pollution) ... Show more content on

areas are low income communities of color which raises environmental justice concerns. The health

diesel trucking routes are more likely to suffer from asthma, wheezing, bronchitis, and allergies. This
causes an increase in school absences and emergency room visits. Besides causing health issues, ports
often refuse to share critical information about possible effects of port operations to the communities.

Climate Change And Its Effect On Earth Essay
What is climate change? Climate change, additionally called an unnatural weather change, alludes to
the ascent in normal surface temperatures on Earth. The present warming pattern is of specific
essentialness on the grounds that the majority of it is likely human incited and continuing at a rate that
is exceptional in the previous 1,300 years. Earth circling satellites and other innovative advances have
empowered researchers to see the comprehensive view, gathering a wide range of sorts of data about
our planet and its atmosphere on a worldwide scale. This group of information, gathered over
numerous years, uncovers the signs of an evolving atmosphere. The warmth catching nature of carbon
dioxide and different gasses was exhibited in the mid nineteenth century. Their capacity to influence
the exchange of infrared vitality through the environment is the logical premise of many instruments
flown by NASA. There is no doubt that expanded levels of greenhouse gasses must bring about the
Earth to warm accordingly. Ice centers drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, and tropical mountain ice
sheets demonstrate that the World s atmosphere reacts to changes in greenhouse gas levels. They
likewise demonstrate that before, extensive changes in atmosphere have happened rapidly,
geographically: in several years, not in millions or even thousands. Environmental change can prompt
to noteworthy dangers to human wellbeing, woods, farming, freshwater supplies, coastlines,

The Importance Of Volunteering At The Bakersfield Spca
I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Bakersfield SPCA. Volunteering here was very rewarding as I
was able to provide care for cats and dogs who may never get adopted. My responsibilities consisted
of cleaning the cats kennels and making them presentable to any potential adopters. This consisted of
wiping the outside of the kennels and replacing the cat litter boxes so the cats would have a clean
place to use. I also cleaned the inside of the kennels and provided them with water and food. Through
this process I began meeting the cats as they would approach me to see what was going on. I realized

Such as climbing structures, scratching post or a place to run (2/26/17). In an attempt to meet the cat s
telos I got to spend time grooming and socializing the animals in an effort to make them more sociable
which would make them more adoptable.
I also provided the dogs with the opportunity to get out of their small enclosure and to feel the grass
underneath their paws. While speaking to one of the workers I was told that the animals do not get to
come out of their kennels to often because, since the shelter is a nonprofit shelter they depend a lot on
the donations from the public. Which means that they can only hire the exact amount of people that
will help perform the necessary duties but they lack the extra help that can help with taking the dogs
out or grooming the cats. For this reason, they depend greatly on the community to go in and
volunteer.
Animal shelters and the community The Bakersfield SPCA is one of the smallest shelters within
Bakersfield. They depend greatly on the community to help sponsor animals. This means that the
community members, depending on the type of animal, will provide a starting kit which include food,
bedding, and a scratching post to the adopters. The animals who were sponsor by the community are
cats that are older or have been at the shelter longer than the rest. This is a form of trying to save as
many animals as possible by defining the animal as a shelter mascot (3/28/2017). Which will give

To A Mouse Analysis
The best laid schemes o mice an men, gang aft agley. Robert Burns states this in his famous poem To a
Mouse, this is believed to have influenced the title of the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
The reason this line from the poem influences the novel does not seem apparent at first, but by the end
of the novel it becomes clear. This novel focuses on two friends, Lennie and George who are migrant
workers in the 1930 s during the great depression. They move from ranch to ranch with each other,
which sets them apart from most because they have each other, while the majority of migrant workers
travel alone. George is a small man who is smart and responsible, and takes care of Lennie. Lennie is a
very large, strong, man, but he is very simple minded, as he is a little mentally challenged. Although
Lennie seems intimidating, he is a very nice man and has the mentality of a child. The novel focuses
on the dream that George and Lennie have of getting their own farm. This is a very important
component of the novel, because presumably, it is the idea of George and Lennie s dream that inspired
the novel s title. Steinbeck conveys the message of Robert Burns poem by showing how easily a
dream or plan can be shattered.
George and Lennie talk about their dream of owning a farm near the beginning of the novel, so we can
assume that they have had this dream for quite some time, especially from the detail George includes
when telling Lennie about it. They want to have their

children chase the lovers when the man chases the women. Gérard shows his brutal and child like
nature when he chases one of his tormentors, when he gets him he slaps him, a primal and a beast just

The Chrysalids Vs To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
The Chrysalids vs. To Kill a Mockingbird
Lead Harper Lee s, To Kill a Mockingbird, takes place in Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930 s, when
great depression and racial discrimination was occurring. The novel s protagonist, Jean Louise (Scout)
Finch, experiences the great depression in a town in Alabama, Macomb. The Chrysalids, written by
John Wyndham in late 1940 s, which is set in the future after the devastating global nuclear war. The
novel s protagonist, David Strorm lives in a community of Waknuk, consisting of religious and genetic
fanatics. Waknuk is a community where anything out of a norm is sinful and could even end in a
consequence as serious as death. The main question is, what does Wyndham s and Lee s themes,
superstition, racism, and fear say about today s society? Superstition is seen in many religions and
beliefs that do not accept different races or religions in today s society. This can also be known as
Racism, which is also present in both of these novels. Racism is also seen in today s society at
schools, work, etc... Lastly, Fear is also a major theme in both of these novels, portrayed by several
characters, or societies. All of this can be related back to how the authors show these themes, and what
they say about society everywhere. While Lee s story focusses on the themes directly related to the
society and Wyndham s story adheres closely to its protagonist, they share the key distinction of
warning and criticizing the cruelty of today s society.

Colonial Culture And Spanish Influence During The Colonial...
During the colonial era, directly after the US Civil War, the European empires were absolute
authorities in Southeast Asia. Spanish influence during this time was centralized in the Philippines.
The geography of the region rendered the Philippines vulnerable to international manipulation and
political dissolution. Because the islands make political unity difficult, they have been targeted by
empires, and manipulated oppressive politics. Divisions in the Philippines cross many boundaries.
Race, class, religion, and geography all fed into international politics that heavily shaped foreign
influence on the island nation. The first organized religion that came to the Philippines was Islam.
This created one of the first great cultural chasms among the islands. When the Spanish landed on the
shores, Roman Catholicism spread like wildfire. As adopted as it was, Catholicism was much more on
the influential in the north, while the southern islands still mostly practiced Native religions or Islam.
During this time, the languages used to promote these various religions varied from the indigenous
languages, Spanish, Latin, Arabic, and hundreds more. This only served to drive wedges between the
population. Topping off the list for fissures in communication, a universal language was never
imposed on the Philippines. This meant that the majority of Filipinos never learned a word of spanish,
even at the height of the empire. This arguably caused a collapse in tradition and cultural

The Classic Treatise Evolution By Jay Gould
The late Stephen Jay Gould, a noted paleontologist who once described himself as an agnostic leaning
towards atheism, wrote the classic treatise Evolution as Fact and Theory for Discover magazine back
in 1981. His distinguished career and scientific achievements did earn him respect amongst his peers,
but to the general public he is best known for his popular science writings and, to smaller circles, as a
champion of evolution. As his treatise was written for a non academic, science themed magazine, a
basic understanding of science, and specifically evolutionary mechanics, was assumed of his audience.
The treatise itself is on the often overlapping distinction between theory and fact ; two words, he
asserts, that creationists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And, as colorful exchanges are far more entertaining than dry discourse, it also remains a source of his
popular appeal.
As for addressing fact versus theory, the two keywords in the titular treatise, he is slow to get to the
point. Over the next paragraph he asserts creationists, as a sweeping generalization, have presented not
a single new fact, and they have ...arguments that seemed kooky just a decade ago. This, with the
accusation that creationist s true motivations are political, along with the improper comparison of
scientific creationism to the Orwellian term newspeak, bears no relevance to the denotive differences
between fact and theory in any context. Also, his attacking an opposing stance, and failing to point out
any contradictions or fallacies therein, could be an indication that his own position lacks substance.
Of course Professor Gould s writings were rarely without substance. He does go on to point out two
creationist s argumentative fallacies and then, finally, he addresses the issue of fact versus theory. His
distinction, summed up both imperfectly and incompletely: a theory is comprised as a rigid, codified
series of explanations of the facts; therefore, the theory of evolution, a consistent explanation of the
recurring trends found in the fossil record, is in line with said facts. It is a

Heart Of Darkness Symbolism Essay
In the novel Heart of Darkness, Joesph Conrad uses the symbol of the river to show change and how
the the river is deceiving and evil. Conrad uses the Congo river, which in its time was a key element in
the conversion of Africa to the imperialistic country it is in the novel. The Congo river allows access
into the interior of Africa, referred to as the Dark Continent in the novel. The river is more than
definitely one of the most important elements and symbols of Heart of Darkness. The Congo River is
the largest river in western central Africa, which makes it one of the largest rivers in Africa, other than
the Nile River. The river is one of the most important elements in the novel. The Congo allows the

The trip is upstream is long and tedious, much like how it is on Marlow s conscious. While going
upstream, Marlow continuously had to fight off overwhelming urges. For example, Marlow has a
extreme temptation to kill Kurtz on the river banks after he leaves the boat. Marlow has a large
amount of control compared to the other characters in the novel, which is why Kurtz is so astonished
and slightly terrified of Marlow. The reason Marlow can do this is because he distances himself from
the jungle and the wilderness. Unlike Marlow, Kurtz is too involved and is unable to control himself,
which leads Kurtz into his own ruin. Though Marlow was easily the most sane person , he did not go
home unchanged. In the beginning of the book, Marlow says You know I have detest, and can t bear a
lie. Not because i am straighter than the rest of us, but simply because it appalls me (1.61). Marlow
may have started off in the novel hating lies, but later in the novel, he admits to having become as

Scolding Decrease Behavior
Explain how scolding might decrease behavior in one case and increase behavior in another.
There are several ways in which mom and dad can unintentionally escalate bad behaviors and/or
diminish great behaviors. Reinforcement is used to aid and expand the chance that a particular
behavior will arise with the delivery of a stimulus promptly after a response is exhibited.
Positive reinforcement is a very compelling and efficient tool to help form and change habits. Positive
reinforcement works by imparting a motivating item to the individual after the preferred behavior is
exhibited, making the behavior more likely to happen sooner than later. An instance of this tactic
would be Jimmy getting $10 for each A he earned on his report card. The definition

A Critical Discussion of Blaise Pascal s The Wager
In the gambling world bets are made based on odds, the probability or likelihood that something
would happen. In the court of law, cases are decided upon by the weight of evidence presented by the
respective parties. The common link between these general scenarios is that decisions are made based
on some outside evidential factor. The more probable something is likely to happen, or the more
evidence presented in favor or opposed to something, the greater the tendency that a decision will
coincide with that probability or evidence. This kind of logic has also been used when arguing about
the existence of God. It has been argued that God s existence is necessary based on the logic ... Show

Pascal starts off his essay by stating that, If there is a God, He is infinitely incomprehensible...He has
no affinity to us. (Pascal, 78) This already poses a problem with the argument he is about to present in
support of believing that God exists. The main question becomes, if there is a god and that this god is
incomprehensible, then what is the point in believing whether or not such a being a actually exists? It
would obviously follow that we would never come to a full understanding of this god, and any efforts
to believe in or worship him would be in vain. Are we just to believe that this god exists and that s all,
or is there a code of conduct that is to follow this belief? How do you act in a manner that is pleasing
to being that you do not and never will wholly understand? Pascal goes on to state that once we have
made this rational decision to believe in God then we start to act like we believe in this god and from
practicing these actions habitually your belief will strengthen Pascal, 78). The problem here lies in the
basis of the strength for this belief. To make a decision and then act on that decision seems pretty
consistent; but, to make a decision and have that decision become a belief based on habitual actions
does not follow at all. Is this belief that your holding to a product of sincerity of habit? If you start to

According to table 1 and 2, because Clearwater is upgrading its products right now, they will design

And the final new 20 seat unit price will be 14,000
For this pricing option, he didn t increase the original prices of both 30 seat and 10 seat. Instead, he
simply calculated the 20 seat price by using the difference between 30 seats and 10 seats.
In the positive aspect, this pricing strategy is actually fair enough for the current customers, because
he didn t change anything to the current price. Obviously this strategy will help Clearwater to gain
more customers loyalty, and probably they will get more orders.
But on the other hand, after all the company was changing the product system because they want more
profits, the pricing strategy provided by Rob was clearly ran in the opposite direction. I think it s a
little be less aggressive for the product manager to actually decrease their prices. Fortunately the profit
margin for the QTX is good enough, so they can still make remarkable profit on it.

Essay about Views of Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo...
Views of Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet
1. Introduction
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet has the high profile as the love tragedy everybody knows
[1]. Although it is regarded as the ideal of romantic love there are many other (quite unromantic)
views represented in the play, too. In this term paper I will try to give a survey of the different views
of love in Romeo and Juliet. First of all there are Romeo and Juliet, the star cross d lovers (Prologue)
who establish a quality of love, of life intensively lived, that becomes its own value [2]. Apart from
these two main characters and their view of love there are in general five other attitudes towards love:

2. Main part: Views of love in Romeo and Juliet
2.1. Romeo s and Juliet s view of love: Love as the reason for living
The star cross d lovers Romeo and Juliet both fall in love at first sight and are determined to marry
just after their first encounter. Their love is the most precious thing Romeo and Juliet have in their
lives so both are ready to die for each other and chose to die in the end [...] because each knows that
he or she cannot live without the other, and knows this as a simple, literal truth to be acted on at the
first opportunity [3]. Romeo as well as Juliet regards his banishment as death. Although the lovers are
hoping to see each other again they are willing to die after Tybalt s death/their wedding night.
After their separation due to the banishment both kill themselves in order to be together again: Juliet
drinks Friar Laurence sleeping potion in order to die and be with Romeo again when she awakes, and
Romeo drinks the poison to be reunited with Juliet, whom he thinks lifeless, in death. When waking
up in the monument and finding her love having committed suicide, Juliet kills herself for the reason
of a reunion after death, too. The lovers even drink to each other when they drink their potions.
Up to here Romeo and Juliet seem to share the same view of love but on having a closer look there are

The summer of 2017, a couple months before my senior year, presented an opportunity that initiated

camp counselor advertised a summer business intensive called PFEW; Pennsylvania Free Enterprise

Essay Colorado Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana in the United States has been a big issue for decades dating back to when it was first made
illegal in 1937. Using scare tactics, propaganda, and false facts, the government decided to classify the
plant as a schedule one drug along with substances such as ecstasy, LSD, and heroin. Marijuana has
since become a more common and socially acceptable (Not by the government) drug in recent years.
This past year Colorado, Washington, and Oregon had decided to vote on the issue of legalizing
marijuana for recreational use. Focusing on Colorado, Amendment 64 passed on November 6th, 2012

continuing research, Nearly all agreed on the need for further medical education about medical
marijuana. With 91% agreeing that it should be explored deeper, it shows that many people don t
actually know the truth of how helpful or harmful marijuana can be. There is one big problem about
the testing of marijuana; the government still classifies it as illegal. They refuse to put it down to a
schedule two drug along with cocaine and morphine which they classify as having medical value.
Maia Szalavitz of Time magazine compared the addiction rate of marijuana users against tobacco and
other hard drugs. She stated, Marijuana is much less addictive, coming in at 9% to 10%. In contrast,
23% to 25% of heroin users get addicted, along with 15% of alcohol users and 15% to 20% of those
who use cocaine. Nicotine in cigarettes addicts about up to 30% of those who smoke, along with being
more harmful to the body according to Robert Melamede. Marijuana seems like it would be a
legitimate candidate for medicinal use country wide when compared to alcohol which is legal,
cocaine, and morphine which have accepted medical use but also can be more harmful to the user. But
aside from medical and recreational uses, the benefits for the states that legalize it can be enormous.

Guaranteed Paid Maternal Leave in the United States
Today there are two countries in the world that do not currently guarantee paid maternity leave for
employed new mothers and/or expecting mothers, those countries are the United States and Papua
New Guinea, according to the International Labour Organization, an United Nations agency (Rubin
2016). In recent years, the controversial issue of guaranteed maternal leave has been a prominent topic
of debate amongst political activists and elites, particularly in the United States, where reform is both
an ethical protection for employees and a feasible option for employers, but has yet to be achieved. It
is this absence of policy that has been linked to significant health related issues of which does not only
effect mothers, but their children as well. In addition to these adverse health impacts, it generates
economic hardships to mothers and families. Thus, the consequences to mothers, families, and
newborns that the absence of guaranteed paid maternal leave presents and the potential benefits of
guaranteed paid leave for these individuals as well as employers, creates a case for policy reform in
this particular area that would implement such protection.
Today, the United States policy for maternal leave remains the same as it was in 1993, when the

Application Of An Enterprise Architecture
Introduction Most organizations have different types of systems that have been implemented and
being used for different purposes over the year of their operations. In this day and age, technologies
seem to change rapidly with executives and managers finding it difficult to get a pictorial view of the
existing systems whenever a new system is being implemented. The primary purpose of an enterprise
architecture is to integrate the Information Technology (IT) assets across different departments of an

Anaya and Ortiz (2005), defined enterprise architecture as a blueprint that provides a common view of
the primary resources of any enterprise (people, processes and technology) and how they integrate to

enterprise architectures are used mainly as two types of tools, which are: engineering tool and
management tool. As a tool for engineering, the enterprise architecture defines specific roles and
responsibilities which are assigned to various personnel of the organization that must be followed in
order to accomplish the objective of the organization. As a management tool, a manager will be able to

Analysis Of Marion Dadds And Susan Hart
This paper from Doing Practicioner Research Differently, by Marion Dadds and Susan Hart, explores
the way in which a researcher (Joseph Geraci) has entered into the world of several individuals living
with autism, and has spent time observing and working with them in order to gain a better
understanding of what it is like to live with autism, and the reasons behind why autistic individuals
behave in some of the ways that they do.
The underpinning philosophical basis for the methodological approaches the research adopts.
By definition, an underpinning philosophy means the foundation beliefs/the system on which the
research is based around. In the case of Joe Geraci s research, his main methods of data collection
were those of observation and conversation. In research, observations can either be overt or disclosed
(that is, the participants know they are being studied) or covert/undisclosed (where the true identity of
the researcher is kept secret from the group, a deception)
In general, observations are in fact a relatively cheap method of data collection to carry out, and the
researcher needs few resources. However, what they are is very time consuming for the researcher.
In 1995, Bassey said that the main purpose of research is to create new knowledge and understanding
for us, to help us know something we did not previously know (Bassey, M 1995), which is what
Geraci as a researcher is hoping to achieve here by experiencing his subjects behavior first hand in

Sea To Sky Corridor Case Study
The many BC Parks in the Sea to Sky Corridor have been experiencing increased visitors use from
individuals and commercial operators. As one of many agencies responsible for managing land use in
the corridor BC Parks attempts to deal with emerging recreation and overcrowding has displaced users
pursuing recreation further up the corridor, into other types of recreation lands, and limited recreation
opportunities; ultimately increasing the scale of the problem. As BC Parks begins to implement
strategies to address over use in the Sea to Sky corridor they want to find ways to resolve the issues in
the corridor, not merely displace the issues on other park regions or recreations lands. Equally as
important, work jointly with other recreational land agencies in a transdisciplinary study to ensure the
problem is not exacerbated by fragmented solutions as visitor do not see or adhere to administrative ...

I would appreciate feedback to refine the scope and develop a primary question. Below are question I
am considering.
what are the limiting factors of social carrying capacity in the extensive recreational setting of Parks in
the Sea to Sky Corridor?
1. What are the expected changes to the recreational environment under the influence of increasing
use, and how might these negative impacts to the recreational environment be mitigated?
2. Define the expected/anticipated visitor experience in BC Parks in the Sea to Sky corridor?
3. How useful is carrying capacity as a tool for a more intensive management approach to the
protection and use of recreational areas?
4. How can BC Parks, Trails and Recreations, Ministry of Transportation and non government
stakeholder in the Sea to Sky Corridor support each other to mitigate the negative impacts on
environment and visitor experience due to over

Apology On Apology Of Socrates
Saru Maharjan
Professor Nathan Poage
Philosophy 1301
March 2, 2017
Apology of Socrates Socrates was a Greek philosopher and the founder of western philosophy. Plato
was the student of Socrates who was very motivated by the life and teaching of Socrates. Plato was
also one of the greatest Philosopher of ancient Greece. Apology is the actual recorded speech of
Socrates by Plato, which was delivered at the trail to defend himself. Many people did not agree with
Socrates, so they made several charges against him, which is recorded in the Apology. Some of the
accusations made against him were studying the things in the sky and below the earth, corrupting the
young, making a worse argument into a strong argument and not believing in the gods ... Show more

But Socrates never charged the people for listening to him. Even though Gorgias doesn t fulfill the
need of philosophy, they were not charged. Socrates compares himself with Gorgias, Prodicus, and
Hippias and he proved that the false rumors about him were not true.
Another charge made against Socrates was corrupting the young, which Meletus claims he was guilty
of. He says I am guilt of corrupting the young, but I say that Meletus is guilty of dealing frivolously
with serious matters, of irresponsibly bringing people into court. (Cooper 28) Meletus blamed that
Socrates was guilty of corrupting a young man. He again asked logical questions to the Meletus to
defend himself. He says Meletus was not concerned about the young man, he himself was concerned
about and knows about the law. Law is the only thing that was improving the young man. He again
asked Meletus how he was corrupting the young man. He was improving the young man, which
everybody was doing. The members of the council, audience, and members of the assembly
everybody was making a good man. As per Socrates, Meletus thinks everybody doing the same work
was making good men but Socrates was corrupting a young man by doing the same work
Socrates was also charged for not believing on the gods. I think he contradict himself in the affidavit,
as if said Socrates is guilty of not believing in gods

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Paracetamol
Paracetamol, the most common medicine nowadays, has been used by people for more than thirty
years in order to relieve pain and fever. It acts as a medicine prescribed by doctors. Also, it can be
easily purchased as an over the counter remedy in retail pharmacies and groceries.
Paracetamol can be obtained either in the form of tablets or syrups. Paracetamol injections are
introduced in certain cases too. Such drug is suitable and appropriate for all age groups including
young children. It can be generally applied on people who are allergic to aspirin. Side effects hardly
exist when paracetamol is taken at recommended dosage and interactions with other treatments are not
a big deal. Paracetamol products are frequently prescribed in hospitals ... Show more content on

Therefore process should be modified to earn profit. During this process, sodium boro hydride is
required for the reduction, which leads to the highest material cost. If we used low cost substitute for
that, we could earn profit.
We can use Sn and hydrochloric acid for the reducing reaction instead of sodium borohydride.
According to the literature, 0.56g of sodium borohydride needs to react with 1g of 4 nitrophenol
during the reducing reaction. Assume that same amount of hydrochloric acid is used for the

There are those who are already pondering about what life without high school will be like; those who are debating whether or not to tell your crush tonight about your whispers of adoration you ve secretly held for four years; some simply want to get out of that ungodly chair, get that thing that isn t really a diploma but only tells you when to pick up the thing, and then be the first one on the green bus to the grad party you know who you are. And the rest, well, the rest aren t even paying attention, you re thinking, Great, here comes one of the valedictorian speakers. Next up: a boring speech straight out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the moment, please do not dwell on the past or even look into the future, there s time for that later. Instead, I ask that you give up a few minutes of your lives to sit back, let that gown flow and enjoy the final curtain call of your high school career. Enjoy the sights and sounds of today, right now; and be aware of the mindfulness opening your senses and releasing your inhibitions can summon. Feel the tingle on your eyes; it is trying to tell you something so pay attention to it. Look, do you see it? That s anxiety, a thick and pulsating anxiety that is flowing through the air right now from person to person. It is a stream of consciousness that is multiplied in this medium only because we all have the same questions: Do I have time to go to the bathroom? When will this Asian fool shut up? Pros And Cons Of Protein Supplements Pumped on protein: Can a shake ever be as good as a plate of food? by Ann Robinson was posted on TheGaurdian.com on Wednesday, the first of February of this year. In the article, there is an obvious controversy presented directly in the title. Can a shake ever be as good as a plate of food? The article states that there has been a rise in interest of these protein shakes in recent years, even sharing a statistic that shows that within the last three months at least 42% of males between the ages of 16 and 24 had consumed some form of protein supplement. With such a statistic one would come to believe that these protein supplements must have some sort of special formula within that makes them so popular. But with any sort of opinionated article there are going to be those who agree, and those who disagree that a protein supplement could be just as nutritious as a well rounded meal. A nearly perfect example of this is the antagonist Iago in Othello by William Shakespeare, who cunningly works his evil throughout the whole play, especially in Act III. Essentially, Iago implies that Desdemona must be a wanton degenerate to have truly fallen for a man like Othello. Iago doesn t just play on Othello s fears about his wife, but also on Othello s insecurities about his status as a black Moor in sixteenth century Italy. The idea of Desdemona being an allegedly lascivious woman coupled with Othello s insecurities about being an older black man waning in attractiveness and drive, delivers a fatal blow to his self esteem. • 24. Scolding Decrease Behavior Explain how scolding might decrease behavior in one case and increase behavior in another. There are several ways in which mom and dad can unintentionally escalate bad behaviors and/or diminish great behaviors. Reinforcement is used to aid and expand the chance that a particular behavior will arise with the delivery of a stimulus promptly after a response is exhibited. Positive reinforcement is a very compelling and efficient tool to help form and change habits. Positive reinforcement works by imparting a motivating item to the individual after the preferred behavior is exhibited, making the behavior more likely to happen sooner than later. A Critical Discussion of Blaise Pascal s The Wager In the gambling world bets are made based on odds, the probability or likelihood that something would happen. In the court of law, cases are decided upon by the weight of evidence presented by the respective parties. The common link between these general scenarios is that decisions are made based on some outside evidential factor. The more probable something is likely to happen, or the more evidence presented in favor or opposed to something, the greater the tendency that a decision will coincide with that probability or evidence. This kind of logic has also been used when arguing about the existence of God. It has been argued that God s existence is necessary based on the logic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pascal starts off his essay by stating that, If there is a God, He is infinitely incomprehensible...He has no affinity to us. (Pascal, 78) This already poses a problem with the argument he is about to present in support of believing that God exists. The main question becomes, if there is a god and that this god is incomprehensible, then what is the point in believing whether or not such a being a actually exists? It would obviously follow that we would never come to a full understanding of this god, and any efforts to believe in or worship him would be in vain. Are we just to believe that this god exists and that s all, or is there a code of conduct that is to follow this belief? How do you act in a manner that is pleasing to being that you do not and never will wholly understand? Pascal goes on to state that once we have made this rational decision to believe in God then we start to act like we believe in this god and from practicing these actions habitually your belief will strengthen Pascal, 78). The problem here lies in the basis of the strength for this belief. To make a decision and then act on that decision seems pretty consistent; but, to make a decision and have that decision become a belief based on habitual actions does not follow at all. Is this belief that your holding to a product of sincerity of habit? If you start to act you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this term paper I will try to give a survey of the different views of love in Romeo and Juliet. Their love is the most precious thing Romeo and Juliet have in their lives so both are ready to die for each other and chose to die in the end [...] because each knows that he or she cannot live without the other, and knows this as a simple, literal truth to be acted on at the first opportunity [3]. After their separation due to the banishment both kill themselves in order to be together again: Juliet drinks Friar Laurence sleeping potion in order to die and be with Romeo again when she awakes, and Romeo drinks the poison to be reunited with Juliet, whom he thinks lifeless, in death. When waking up in the monument and finding her love having committed suicide, Juliet kills herself for the reason of a reunion after death, too.
