Shrek, the movie, should be chosen as the best movie of the year for many
reasons, some of which include the characters clear depth and emotions, the
original character designs, and the family friendly jokes allowed the movie to be
accepted as a masterpiece by the public. Sixteen years later, the movie scores
solidly at a 7.9 out of ten on IMDb. The movie cost an estimated sixty million
dollars to create and the fact that aged well, with the movie still looking well to this
day, makes it great. (IMDb). The family friendly jokes still can make children laugh,
and adults can find a few jokes hidden in the movie that the kids don t understand.
The movie is a wonderful tale about an ogre finding more about himself on a quest to
save the beloved princess, who finds her knight atop a donkey. The movie starts out
with the best introduction to the character, with the song All Star by Smash Mouth.
The song alone, right at the beginning, sets up the adventure the carefree ogre is
about to embark on. Additionally, it reflects how Shrekfeels about himself. Shrek is
stuck up and only cares for himself, shown prominently in the movie when he talks

Over time, doctors have seen countless patients that have complained of a strange
form of pain sensation called phantom limb pain. The pain that patients are
describing is occurring in appendages that are no longer part of their bodies. Many of
these amputees have described this pain as utterly unbearable. For the amputee
population, this is a very real problem that needs to be solved. Pain that is occurring
in phantom limbs is very common in amputees. Mostly all amputees experience the
sensation of phantom limb pain. Two thirds of patients experience phantom limb pain,

This essay will review two significant environmental experiences I have encountered
exploring the influences of these my life and how these have altered my view on

T.S. Eliot s poem, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, illustrates the fear of the
fragmentation of society today. In the poem, Eliot creates the persona of Prufrock.
Prufrock is speaking to an unknown listener. The persona of Prufrock is Eliot s
interpretation of Western society and its impotency. His views on society is seen as
a modernistic point of view, which idolizes the ideas to regress back to a classicist
era. Eliot illustrates his contempt for the modern society by illustrating fragmentation
with synecdoche, characterization of Prufrock, and allusions to literary traditions
throughout the narrative. In his poem, Eliot clings to the idea of a classical society in
which he is witnessing fall apart.

In today s society, one thing that seems to bother people is the number of differences
between a novel and the movie that inevitably follows the publication of that novel.
The Big Sleep, written by Raymond Chandler, is one such novel that less than a
decade after being written inspired the creation of a film, starring Humphrey Bogart
and Lauren Bacall, that contains a few interesting differences. According to John
