Melissa: Hello, everyone. And welcome. I'm Melissa Sharpe, and I'm a writing instructor here at the Walden Writing Center. Before we begin and I hand the session over to Michael, I want to go over a few housekeeping items. First, we are recording this webinar. Although, it helps when you push the button. Okay.
Hi, everybody. We are now recording the webinar. And, so, you are welcome to access it at a later date through the webinar archive. In fact, note that we record all of our webinars so you are welcome to look through that archive for other recordings that may interest you. Also, whether you are attending this webinar live or watching the recording, you will find that we have some interactive elements like links and chats, as well as files which you can find in the file pod. If you look on the bottom of the screen, you'll see the PowerPoint slides Michael will be sharing today and you are welcome to download those. You can interact with all of the links and chats throughout tonight’s webinar. We also welcome questions and comments throughout the session, and you can use the Q & A box for these. Both Kacy and myself will be watching this Q & A box. And we are happy and excited to answer questions throughout the session as Michael is talking. You are also welcome to send any technical issues you have to us here as well. Although note, there is a help option in the top right corner of your screen. This is Adobe's technical support, so that is the best place to go if you need technical help. All right. And with that, I will hand it over to Michael.

Fun task ahead 13 hacks to make essay writing a pure pleasure (2)alice094
Writing essays can seem like a dull and boring chore most students would love to avoid. But these 13 amazing tips can turn essay writing it into a fun-filled activity.
2. Next week we will move to discussing color. Last year, to display how some color palettes are chosen, I sampled a number of my PPT color schemes from nature. I will show you how this works next week. But for fun, today, I chose to use one of my favorite comic book images. I sampled from the image on the title slide. Hulk’s face and Wolverine’s tongue. Ironically, the colors are very 90s and just a touch hideous.
3. TODAY Discussion of the readings from the Snow Day The FINAL project (drum roll, plzto have) DWS Chapters 3 & 4 What comes next Homework
4. Next week On Tuesday we will go over the results of all your module 1 work and have a discussion. We will devote the whole class to asking questions and giving answers. On Thursday, we will be discussing color and doing a color activity. I will give you some prompts on Tuesday to prep you for that activity. On Thursday we will also have a guest observer, Dr. Danielle Devoss. She’s coming to observe my teaching and offer feedback.
8. THAT’S BETTER It won’t win me any awards, but now there’s at least something a little easier on the eye happening. Now, then, back to class.
9. SNOW READINGS You all did a fantastic job with the snow day questions. I’d like to take some time to go over each of them, so I’m going to pop over to my Tumblr and use it to guide us for a bit.If you’re reading along, you’ll want to pop over to phill210.tumblr.com.
10. FINAL PROJECT I don’t want to stress any of you out (like I could—you’re an easy going group), but I want you to start thinking about your final project. The logic for this is that we’re about to start looking at color, and this is a good time to start thinking about the site you want to make at the end of the semester.

13. DWS CH 3 & 4 Let’s talk about the objections and persuasion from Chapter 3. What thoughts do you have? What might we add to the list? How is this information valuable?
14. DWS CH 4 I’d like you to work with your partners again, in groups of two. In your groups, I want you to pull out the one quote/piece of information you feel is most important in chapter 4 and explain why. I also want each group to write a question for the rest of the class.
15. HOMEWORK Remember that Module 1 is due on Sunday at 1 pm. For Tuesday, Read for class: Chapter 5 and 6 of DWS (p. 95-133) Your twitter question is this: how are you feeling about the final project?
