The World Wide Web was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1990 at CERN as a way to transfer text and graphics simultaneously over the internet using a client/server protocol. It established hypertext markup language (HTML) as a common language for sharing information between computers. The WWW is a system of hyperlinked documents that can be accessed via the internet using a web browser. Web pages contain multimedia like text, images, videos, and more. While the internet is a massive network of networks, the WWW is a model built on top of the internet for accessing and sharing information through web browsers.
