At this week's Animal Health Investment Asia Forum, Tokyo, Ceva's Dr. Michael Hemprich went back to this original commitment by setting out why improved international cooperation is vital to tackling the emerging diseases threatening global protein supplies, citing the successful eradication of #Rinderpest as an example of how this could be achieved.

backyard systems of livestock rearing…
most problematic when they are in close
proximity to intensive systems of meat
production.
o More foods are traded to more places in
ever more complex global supply chains, and
at the same time more people travel more
frequently to more places.
o Information travels faster and wider via
media networks also, thus spreading fear and
alarmist panic faster.
