2. Workplace Security Hazards
Hazard is typically defined as a potential source of harm, or an
adverse health effect on a person or persons. This simply
means that anything that has the potential to cause damage or
harm can be considered a hazard.
The most common of hazards are usually physical objects,
which include, but are not limited to unguarded machinery,
pieces of furniture, or chemicals.

3. Workplace Security Hazards
The company's Injury and Illness Prevention (IIP) Program for Workplace
Security addresses the hazards known to be associated with the three
types of workplace violence. They are:
• Type 1 hazards
• Type 2 hazards
• Type 3 hazards

4. Workplace Security Hazards
Type I workplace violence
This involves a violent act by an attacker with no legitimate relationship to
the workplace who enters the workplace to commit a robbery or other
criminal act

5. Workplace Security Hazards
Type II workplace violence
Involves a violent act or threat of violence by a recipient of a service
provided by our establishment, such as a;
• Client
• Customer
• Vendor
• Criminal suspect

Type II workplace violence
This involves a violent act or threat of violence by;
• A current or former employee, supervisor or manager.
• Another person who has some employment related involvement with
our establishment; such as an employee's spouse or lover, an
employee's relative or friend.
• Another person who has a dispute with one of our employees

7. Security Hazards – Preventive
Measures
The following preventive measures have been implemented in the
premises;
• All employee and visitors must obey all security procedure
• All employee’s bag must be searched by the security personnel.
• All vehicle leaving the premises must be checked by the security
personnel.

• Visitors will be issued tags at the
security post as means of
identification
• Employee must not obstruct the
flow of traffic in the premises or
office
• Employee must know ways to
defuse hostile or threatening
situations
• Employees are to display their I.D.
cards at the security post before
entering the office building and
this should be hung while in the
building.

9. Hazard Reporting
• There is a system available to
employees, to inform
management about workplace
security hazards or threats of
violence.
• Employees reporting any security
hazard will be protected against
retaliation.
• All security issues in the
workplace is addressed by
Security Hazard Evaluation
Committee.
