This document discusses workload consolidation on Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) platforms using Intel's next generation communications platform codenamed "Crystal Forest". It highlights how Intel's Xeon E5-2600 processors and technologies like QuickAssist and Data Plane Development Kit can provide 4:1 workload consolidation compared to previous generations. The new Intel platform along with Advantech's MIC-5333 chassis and fabric mezzanine modules aim to improve performance, lower costs, and bring more flexibility to telecom infrastructure designs.
