To understand how we impact our communities and how our communities impact us, we don't have to look no further than the concept of socialization. Socialization is the process whereby we as individuals acquire cultural and social skills essential for us to survive in society - language, knowledge, traditions, ways of doing, thinking and making, views about the world, religion, philosophies - all these we learn 2 ways: formally and informally. At home we learn from our parents & relatives, in school from our teachers and from our classmates, in the community - in church, in market places, in sports clubs, in restaurants - generally in places or sites where human interaction happens. When we interact, we talk to each other, we learn from each other. Just as we observe others, they also observe us and we together experience the interaction. How we react in it, what we learn from it leads us to create meaning, new ideas and information that we add to our knowledge database, our experience. This shapes us - our ways, our personalities. Formally we can learn from a rigid set of instructions like in classrooms or on training programs as companies provide their employees. Informally, we always get socialized every day, as long as we interact with others or learn about our world. We even get socialized through the media - TV, radio, internet - we get to know ourselves, our world and discover who we are and who we are not via this. This is because society is a social agency where socialization happens and we as individuals are social agents.
Drawing from the notion of social agency, it means that as an individual, I impact people around me be they immediate (i.e. my family, friends) or secondary (people in my church, people in my school). Public Health as a social concern from an individual viewpoint is something that a person chooses to pay attention to, for the purpose of managing risk for the self and for his family/community. If for example I have an outgoing personality, and I am genetically predisposed to have the allergies on the onset of Spring due to Pollen and I suffer from it, I would more than likely take up an advocacy to help children and others who suffer the same, especially if I am in that particular stage of life - the late adult stage where I am seeking to care for others, to leave a legacy. I would probably band together with others who have the same concerns and create awareness programs in the community or to move certain things to happen - i.e. free clinics to help sufferers, creation of Smartphone Apps that measure pollen concentration in the air, etc. Essentially, individual factors are those attributes that one has that can likely impact his or her social agent actions with regards to a particular concern (i.e. Public Health) to the self and to the community. Taking care of someone poses different challenges, resulting in different types of stressors so caregivers need to be conscientious of those challenges to be prepared to deal with them when they come up. Additionally, being a caregiver for a loved one can be very taxing and cumbersome, resulting in decreased mental and physical health (Alexander & Wilz, 2010).
Fekete et al. (2007) states that emotional support has a significant influence on an individual with a chronic illness. Emotional support provides a more positive outlook for an individual, which, can impact their mental state and also influence their health (Fekete et al., 2007). Additionally, caregivers or spouses of individuals with chronic illnesses are more susceptible to health implications and psychological stress, resulting from lifestyles changes, assuming the responsibilities of their loved one, limited time for social events, and most importantly, lack of self-care (Fekete et al., 2007). Fekete et al. (2007) also states that women and men differ on how they support each other and how they interpret that support.
According to Umberson et al. (2016), various factors should be considered in thinking about how individuals interpret and respond to relationships. Social contexts influence the way in which men and women deal with illness. For example, men are typically encouraged to be strong, independent, and inattentive regarding physical illness or pain, therefore men are more likely to avoid accepting or looking for help whereas women are perceived to be delicate and feeble (Umberson et al., 2016)..

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of dementia on informal carers' relationships with their loved ones. Understanding the demands placed on both the person with dementia and the person providing informal care is essential for meeting the needs of both parties. Many studies and institutions focus only on the needs of patients, rather than the needs of the informal carers. This study highlights the need and requirement of providing supplementary assistance to informal carers. The research analyzed and compared data from several sources in a systematic literature review to provide an answer to the question.
The findings indicated that in order to prevent strained relationships with their loved ones, carers need additional knowledge on how to manage the sickness and the stress brought on by the weight of the illness. We hypothesize that Assistive Technology might be useful for lowering healthcare costs by improving access to specialists in areas such as diagnosis, medication, and mental health treatment, as well as easing the burden on primary care physicians. Case managers may also keep track of patients and help family members all along the care pathway: they do this by collecting and sharing information with the different health professionals involved, in this specific instance the informal caregivers. Aging is a natural process that comes with a cost. It is normal and evident that this
process poses a great challenge for all in the society. Chronologically it refers to those with 65
years and above, and these are the people who have a high prevalence of chronic diseases or
even mental illnesses. The Americans despise the old, and this is usually evident in the media.
The old are portrayed as weak, comic and indecisive. However this notion is incorrect because
the old usually have imminent knowledge which can’t be found in the younger generation.
Therefore it is important for the government, the citizens and important stakeholders in the
country to come up with policies, measures, and assistance to ensure that these people live longer
because, in the country at individual levels, they are iconic and very beneficial.
The Administration on Aging (AOA) is an agency within the US Department of Health
and Human Services designated to carry the activities aimed to cater for the welfare of the old
people. According to the United States & United States (1971), the AOA is assigned a mandate
of promoting the well-being of older individuals. It provides services and programs designed to
help them to live independently in their residing premises and their homes. The agency also
offers financial support to persons who are above the age of 60 years. The AOA also provides
home based and community-based services to seniors regarding adult day care, transport, and
health promotion programs.
The government is always in the frontline in ensuring that the welfare of the old people is
taken care of. Therefore the government gives financial assistance to them because at their age;
they are not working, and therefore they don’t earn any income. The financial support delegated
to them helps them in important life aspects, (Sines et al, 2005). The finance they are given will
assist them in payment of bills like the heating bills, medication and also nutrition. With all the
above favorable conditions, the life span of the old individuals will increase.

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of dementia on informal carers' relationships with their loved ones. Understanding the demands placed on both the person with dementia and the person providing informal care is essential for meeting the needs of both parties. Many studies and institutions focus only on the needs of patients, rather than the needs of the informal carers. This study highlights the need and requirement of providing supplementary assistance to informal carers. The research analyzed and compared data from several sources in a systematic literature review to provide an answer to the question.
The findings indicated that in order to prevent strained relationships with their loved ones, carers need additional knowledge on how to manage the sickness and the stress brought on by the weight of the illness. We hypothesize that Assistive Technology might be useful for lowering healthcare costs by improving access to specialists in areas such as diagnosis, medication, and mental health treatment, as well as easing the burden on primary care physicians. Case managers may also keep track of patients and help family members all along the care pathway: they do this by collecting and sharing information with the different health professionals involved, in this specific instance the informal caregivers. Background
Dementia, as described by Duong et al. (2017), is a clinical illness characterized by gradual deterioration in cognitive abilities that eventually compromises an individual's capacity to carry out daily tasks without assistance. Dementia makes people more reliant on others, both emotionally and physically, as pointed out by Cunningham et al. (2015). According to Gale et al. (2018), primary neurologic, medical, and neuropsychiatric disorders all contribute to the development of dementia. Neurodegenerative dementias like Alzheimer disease and Lewy body dementia are very frequent among the elderly. HEALTHCARE FOR THE GERIATRIC AGE GROUP
Aging is a natural process that comes with a cost. It is normal and evident that this
process poses a great challenge for all in the society. Chronologically it refers to those with 65
years and above, and these are the people who have a high prevalence of chronic diseases or
even mental illnesses. The Americans despise the old, and this is usually evident in the media.
The old are portrayed as weak, comic and indecisive. However this notion is incorrect because
the old usually have imminent knowledge which can’t be found in the younger generation.
Therefore it is important for the government, the citizens and important stakeholders in the
country to come up with policies, measures, and assistance to ensure that these people live longer
because, in the country at individual levels, they are iconic and very beneficial.
The Administration on Aging (AOA) is an agency within the US Department of Health
and Human Services designated to carry the activities aimed to cater for the welfare of the old
people. According to the United States & United States (1971), the AOA is assigned a mandate
of promoting the well-being of older individuals. It provides services and programs designed to
help them to live independently in their residing premises and their homes. The agency also
offers financial support to persons who are above the age of 60 years. The AOA also provides
home based and community-based services to seniors regarding adult day care, transport, and
health promotion programs.
The government is always in the frontline in ensuring that the welfare of the old people is
taken care of. Therefore the government gives financial assistance to them because at their age;
they are not working, and therefore they don’t earn any income. The financial support delegated
to them helps them in important life aspects, (Sines et al, 2005). The finance they are given will
assist them in payment of bills like the heating bills, medication and also nutrition. With all the
above favorable conditions, the life span of the old individuals will increase.

After Elaine’s last overdose, Audrey was removed from her mother’s care and placed with her grandmother, who is estranged from Elaine.
Audrey is acutely malnourished and thin; while she denies using drugs, there are some apparent tracks on her arms.

But a half-century later, wealthy kids park BMW convertibles in the Port Clinton High School lot next to decrepit “junkers” in which homeless classmates live. The American dream has morphed into a split-screen American nightmare. And the story of this small town, and the divergent destinies of its children, turns out to be sadly representative of America.
Growing up, almost all my classmates lived with two parents in homes their parents owned and in neighborhoods where everyone knew everyone else’s first name. Some dads worked in the local auto-part factories or gypsum mines, while others, like my dad, were small businessmen. In that era of strong unions and full employment, few families experienced joblessness or serious economic insecurity. Very few P.C.H.S. students came from wealthy backgrounds, and those few made every effort to hide that fact.
Half a century later, my classmates, now mostly retired, have experienced astonishing upward mobility. Nearly three-quarters of them surpassed their parents in education and in that way advanced economically as well. One-third of my classmates came from homes with parents who had not completed high school and, of that group, nearly half went to college.
Low costs at public and private colleges across Ohio were supplemented by locally raised scholarships — from the Rotary Club, the United Automobile Workers, the Junior Women’s Club and the like. Although the only two black students in my class encountered racial prejudice in town and none of their parents had finished grade school, both reached graduate school. Neither for them nor for our white classmates was family background the barrier to upward mobility that it would become in the next century.

Our (white) star quarterback, whom I will call J, grew up on the poor side of town. His dad, who had an eighth-grade education, worked two jobs to keep the family afloat — on the line at Port Clinton Manufacturing from 7 to 3, then at the canning factory from 3:30 to 11. Despite his 70-plus-hour workweek, J’s dad made it to J’s games. Unable to afford a car, J’s family hitched rides with neighbors to church every week and ate a lot of hash. Despite their modest background, J’s parents urged him to aim for college, and he chose the college-prep track at P.C.H.S., finishing in the top quarter of our class. His minister pointed him toward a downstate Lutheran institution and made a phone call to help find him financial aid. One of the design concepts attributed to successful EdD programs is the scholarly practitioner, which The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (n.d.) defines as practitioners who:
Blend practical wisdom with professional skills and knowledge to name, frame, and solve problems of practice. They use practical research and applied theories as tools for change because they understand the importance of equity and social justice. They disseminate their work in multiple ways, and they have an obligation to resolve problems of practice by collaborating with key stakeholders, including the university, the educational institution, the community, and individuals. (Design-Concepts Upon Which to Build Programs section)As you move toward the final weeks of our course, a high priority for all who lead learning is the application of systems thinking as you identify a problem of practice relevant to your organization.
As noted by Dirkx (2006):
The demand for evidence-based research (EBR) in education has evoked considerable debate regarding the nature of knowledge practitioners hold, how they come to know, and the sociopolitical contexts in which that knowledge is generated. Proponents of EBR such as Michael Feuer stress the need for research that validly identifies solutions to important problems of educational practice. Critics such as Elizabeth St. Pierre decry such approaches to research on practice as epistemologically inappropriate and oblivious to their political and moral implications. Both positions illuminate important dimensions of improving practice, but what works seems to get lost in the rhetoric. In this article, the author suggests that we in adult education take seriously the question of what works in practice by developing a knowledge base grounded in research methods and strategies that give voice to the particularities of practice contexts, what he refers to as the "insider perspective." It is imperative to include the support person in the plan of care because they will be the ones mainly providing the care and they need guidelines to follow to promote their love ones to the maximum quality of life. They need to stay abreast on doctor appointments making sure they know where their love one progress is in the disease process and to give them that love of security that no harm may come to them and they do have people that loves them.
