Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

“His name shall be called wonderful, counsellor, the MIGHTY GOD, the
everlasting Father, the Prince of peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
The word Mighty means strong or powerful. The Hebrew word for God is
El, which means Almighty, or Mighty One. When the two words are put
together, they mean “Strong or powerful One – Mighty One. He wasn’t just
counsellor, He is a mighty God. All things were created by Him, things in
heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.
Moses, the great leader of ancient Israel who led the people of Israel from
Egypt, refers to “the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of
lords, the great, the Mighty." (Deuteronomy 10:17)
The Lord led the people from the bondage of slavery. He was Mighty in His
deeds. He did marvellous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land
of Egypt. He parted the Red Sea and paved the way to pass through and
made waters as a heap. He led them with a cloud at a day time and night
with the light of fire. He rained Manna upon his people in the wilderness.
He sent quails to satisfy their hunger. He brought the streams out of the
rock, and caused the waters to run down like rivers. He smote the rock and
water gushed out. He gave them water to drink out of the great depths and
quenched their thirst.
He is able to accomplish whatever He desires.
Is there anything too hard for our Mighty God? The Psalmist says, “The
Lord has done mighty things for us.”
Nehemiah refers to Him as “the great, the Mighty and the awesome God,
Who keeps covenant and loving kindness.” (Nehemiah 9:32).
Apostle Paul says, “When the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth
his Son" (Galatians 4:4)
He was born, neither of blood, nor of the will, neither of the flesh, nor of
the will of the man but He was born of God. He became flesh and dwelt
among us. He is our Lord and Jesus Christ. He is the same yesterday, today
and forever. During His earthly ministry He did mighty things in the lives
of the people to whom they sought. He healed the sick and suffering; the
sorrowful and dying and the broken hearted. He did miracles and signs
and wonders.
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice
over thee with joy. (Zephaniah 3:17)
Let us draw nigh to the Lord Jesus Christ, the mighty God and ever lasting
Father who will do mighty things in our lives.
Wish you a HAPPY CHRISTMAS.

The greatest miracle that ever occurred on earth is God taking the likeness
of sinful man and dwelling among them. No other event was heralded like
this in the whole Bible. It was foretold by prophets, announced by angels,
witnessed by humans and experienced by many. While the wise men
were privileged to have received the message, the shepherds men from a
lower class were triumphantly informed of the Birth too. This indicates
that the message of the birth of the Lord Jesus was relevant to all human
beings. Pointing to the splendor of the angelic announcements to the
shepherds, R C Sproul says, “The plains of Bethlehem became the theater
for one of the most spectacular sound-and-light shows in human history”.
They, responding to the annunciation, went and saw the Baby wrapped in
swaddling clothes, lying in a feed trough. Their eyes beheld the wonder of
wonders, the salvation of God.
The apt response to this wondrous act of God, sending His one and only
Son would be to relate with Him personally which is came, and reflect
His life through one’s own life. Most importantly, Jesus Christ must be
born in one’s heart. This brings us into a relationship with God. Paul tells
the Colossians, “Christ in you the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). One
should open his life and heart to the Lord and receive Him as his personal
Lord and savior that He may make him his dwelling place. Only unto such
people shall the incarnation, God taking flesh on Himself, make any sense.
Then those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ should live
such lives as to draw the world to Christ. Their lives become the gospel to
those who don’t believe. This is termed as incarnational Evangelism. This
is the dire need of the world today. God, by limiting Himself in human
flesh, accomplished the redemption of humanity and demonstrated His
eternal love in the most descriptive and dramatic way. God’s children
must manifest the same to others through their own lives. This love shall
make them identify with others. Is not this the effective way to evangelize
even now-to identify oneself with others and thus become a channel for
communicating Christ to others! As one rightly stated, ‘We state and
commend the faith only in so far as we go and put ourselves with loving
sympathy inside the doubts of doubters, questions of questioners, and
loneliness of those who have lost the way’.
Many have trod this path and have left behind examples for us. The ultimate
example is Christ Himself. He manifested and glorified the Father in the
world (John 1:18; 17:4). Paul became all things to all men to save some
(1 Corinthians 9:22). Also think of the lives of David Livingstone, John
Paton, Sadhu Sunder Singh and many others down through history.
A worthy response to the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ is to examine to
what degree one reflects Christ, the Emmanuel.
As the savior was cloaked in humility and lowliness when ‘He extended
Himself on the straw’, in the cattle’s feeding trough. We too, must sow
in flesh and blood the same qualities of Christ. This is the challenge of
incarnation to all those who follow Christ.
