Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

“For the Lord Himself descend from Heaven with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in
Christ shall rise first ( 1 Thessalonians 4:16).
The Bible is the only book that describes the origin, natural cause
and devastating effect of death on human race. Death is the greatest of
all terrorists because it is just terrorizing all over the world. Sin and death
entered into the world by the disobedience of Adam. The wages of sin is
death. Every living being has to pass through this way-rich or poor, literate
or illiterate, old or young white or black of all the earth.
We should realize that God has drawn a boundary to our human
life, it will never go beyond that “Seeing his days are determined, the
number of his months are with thee; thou hast appointed his bounds that
he cannot pass” (Job 14:5). American Evangelist Dr. Billy Graham, who
traveled all over the world preached about peace, hope and happiness
once said, “I have one more enemy to encounter and I know that when
we meet I shall be defeated”. In the whole human history there is only
one man, who got victory over death that is Jesus Christ who came to die
to pay ransom for our sins. Death tried to hold Him in the grave but He
rose victoriously from the grave, by breaking the Roman seal on the third
day, defeated the devil and He delivered us from the bondage of fear and
death (Heb 2:14,15). The victory of Christ revived the dead ones into a
blessing.
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me,
Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from
henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from
their labours; and their works do follow them’’ (Rev 14:13). He
who dies in the Lord need not fear death because Jesus Christ got victory
over death. Surely such ones will enter into a place of rest. Apostle Paul
eagerly desired to depart from this body and to be with Christ which is far
better (Philip 1:23). The similar desire he expressed in (2 Cor. 5:8) willing
rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Death makes all things beautiful. Death brings relief for believers
struggling with prolonged sickness, life-threatening diseases etc. It is
peaceful rest devoid of pain, tears and suffering. It gives a believer in
Christ rest from struggles, life long labor, sweat and toil which human
beings have inherited since the fall (Gen 3:17,19). Heaven is a beautiful
place, filled with glory and grace, able to see our Savior’s face.
But for those who reject and ignore the great love of God which
He has expressed in the sacrifice of His Son’s death heralds damnation
....... and he shall be tormented with fire ... and they have no rest day or
night ... (Rev 14:10-11) death becomes the door to eternal hell for the
unbelievers.
At the close of great white throne Judgment both death and Hades
were cast into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:14); “The last enemy that shall be
destroyed is death” (1 Cor. 15:26). Stephen the first Martyr for Christian
faith saw Christ standing in Heaven to receive him and said Lord Jesus,
receive my spirit.
May the Lord’s richest blessing and hope be upon you and your family.

“Remembering without ceasing your work of
faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in
our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our
Father;”(1 Thess. 1:3).
Faith indicates the nature and strength of the work; Love, the
motivation for and characteristic of labor, and hope, the source of
endurance. These depict the structure of the genuine Christian life, a life
constructed with faith, love and hope. Such a life originates not from the
ability of the believer’s natural being but from the infusion of what God,
in whom they believe, is carried out by their sacrificial love toward their
living Lord, who loved them and gave Himself for them and promised that
He would come to take us to Himself. St. Paul reminds the Thessalonian
believers of their work of faith, the labor of love and patience of hope.
The work of faith is to turn to God from idols; the labor of love is
to serve the living and true God, and the Patience of hope is to wait
for his Son from heaven. The Lord reminds the Ephesian saints of their
work, labor and patience but warns on their lack of first love (Rev 2:2).
Our risen Lord has given the church three permanent gifts: they are
evangelists, pastors and teachers - “Their responsibility is to equip God’s
people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ”. (Eph
4:11-12). The Evangelists are to develop faith, Pastors help saints to be
knitted together in love and Teachers are to strengthen the believers in
their hope.
St. Paul wrote about Abraham in Romans 4:18. God made the
promise of a seed to Abraham when he was seventy-five that he might
become the father of many nations. Abraham and Sarah both waited for
25 years. At the age of hundred when the calls of his own body became
dead and added to that the womb of Sarah became lifeless. Abraham
hoped against hope in the promises of God, “Abraham never questioned
and wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger,
and in this, he brought glory to God” (Rom 4:18-20). Christian hope is the
complete faith in the unfailing promises of God. Our hope is not based
on trends around us but on solid trust, upon the living and loving God.
The resurrection of our Lord is the foundation of our hope. Christian
hope goes beyond the grave, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ,
we are of all men most miserable” (1 Cor. 15:19). Praise the Lord, our
Savior has risen and He is living, come and see His tomb is empty. So
our hope is a living hope we have “an inheritance incorruptible, and
undefiled, and that faded not away, reserved in heaven” (1 Peter 1:3-4).
Of the events happening around us are the signs of our Lord are coming.
Let us patiently wait for His coming. He who has promised shall surely
come and will not tarry. Let us not waver in our Faith, Love, and hope.
May the Lord’s richest blessings upon you and your dear family,
Until Everyone hears.
