 Involves taking an animals or plant out of it s
habitat and placing it in human care
 This term covers old methods such as zoos
as well as new method such as seed banks
and gene banks.
 Ex-situ conservation may not be the ideal
method but often the only answer
 An estimated 600 milion people will visit a
zoo within then next year that’s 1 out of
every 10 people on the planet.
 to understand the role of zoos, we have to
understand about our history with animals.
Ex-situ conservation means that action are taking place that involve
removing the species from its natural setting
ex-situ conservation is astally used as a last resort, when a
population has become a small or so endangeral that with out extreme
intervantion.
while ax-situ conservation comprises some of the oldest and best
known conservation method it also involves newen sometimes
cotroversion laboratory method.
ex-situ conservation is usually used a last resort when a population
has become so smaller .
