This document proposes redefining wilderness areas into three boundaries: wilderness (37.5%), subsistence interaction (25%), and commercial use (37.5%). The wilderness boundary follows the traditional definition and allows only low-impact recreation. The subsistence boundary permits more permanent lifestyles and traditional activities like hunting and fishing. The commercial boundary allows activities like off-road vehicles, hunting, and sustainable logging. The goal is to balance different land uses under a new Sustainable Federal Acreage Management system.
