History of the Wiki Programmer Ward Cunningham developed the first wiki, WikiWikiWeb, in 1994. It was named for the Wiki Wiki Shuttle at the Honolulu International Airport: In Hawaiian, “wiki-wiki” means “quick.”
The Wonders of the Wiki A wiki invites all users to edit any page or to create new pages within the wiki website, using only a standard Web browser without any extra add-ons. Wiki promotes meaningful topic associations between different pages by allowing easy page link creation. A wiki seeks to involve the visitor in an ongoing process of creation and collaboration that constantly changes the website landscape. The user is able to add content and edit the content added by others.
