Emotional Agility and Resilience - Managing Your Inner Team
Working in emotionally charged contexts is the reality for most leaders - whether it be pressure to compete for business, collaborating within
key relationships, building high performance teams or retaining talent pools. Yet few leaders really understand how to manage the psychological
mechanisms that play out in the workplace to genuinely bring the best of themselves and their people to work.
In fact, many leaders apply untested assumptions about the human experience and as a result, create cultures that limit rather than facilitate peak
performance. The experience of women leaders in the finance and banking sector is a case in point. Significant under-representation of women
leaders at senior levels combined with the human propensity to interact with others of the same gender, have led to a paucity of female role models
and limited access to influential networks and sponsors. Added to this challenge is the double bind facing many high potential women: the mismatch
between conventionally feminine qualities and the capabilities assumed necessary for successful leadership.
Why focus on emotional agility and resilience? Research in the fields of neuroscience, neurobiology and human development provide convincing
evidence of the impact of a leader’s psychological flexibility on their capacity to achieve challenging performance targets and build influence with
stakeholders. This masterclass will provide practical resources to:
• Help navigate organisational, cultural or social barriers to building profile and expanding networks,
• Provide insight and understanding of how your ‘internal dialogue’ can limit your capacity for resilience, and
• Create a safe space to identify role models whose styles and behaviours you can observe and experiment with to integrate with your own strengths
and values.
Rather than attempting to train women to be more like men, this experience is aimed at equipping the banking and finance sector’s female talent
pool to internalise and celebrate their leadership identities and become more mindful leaders and role models.
This highly interactive, experiential workshop aims to help you to:
• Normalise and share the experiences of women navigating leadership careers in Banking and Finance
• Build access to networks and genuine sponsors
• Uncover and capitalise on unique strengths
• Advance a sense of purpose to internalise leadership identity and build profile
• Build awareness of inner dialogue and what it takes to develop emotional agility and resilience
Expert Facilitator:

ABOUT THE EVENT
Effective, authentic leadership demands a diverse and exacting set of qualities and skills, transitioning from the technical to the tactical. But for
women seeking to take that all-important next step in a banking and Financial Services career, there are cultural and systemic challenges to
overcome as well. Despite making up more than half the workforce across the sector, women remain vastly underrepresented at senior leadership
levels, and continue to experience a significantly higher gender pay gap than the country average.
The Women in Banking and Financial Services Leadership Summit 2015 brings together the country’s foremost female senior executives
from leading institutions to share their inspirational leadership journeys, career war stories and practical skills for success. This unique line-up of
exceptional women will address key technical and leadership challenges, opportunities and achievements, and hand you the tools to take your career
to the next level.
Register early to join the conversation and secure your place at this unmissable learning and networking event.
