Why Is School Important Essay
Crafting an essay on the importance of school is a challenging endeavor that requires a careful
balance of research, analysis, and personal reflection. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a
well-structured argument but also in navigating the multitude of perspectives surrounding the
topic. As a writer, you must delve into the various facets of education, considering historical,
societal, and individual viewpoints.
The research phase is particularly intricate, demanding a thorough exploration of educational
theories, statistics on academic performance, and societal impacts. Additionally, one must be
attuned to the dynamic nature of education, as it evolves with time and responds to cultural,
technological, and economic shifts.
The challenge deepens when attempting to strike a balance between the academic aspects of
schooling and the broader life skills it imparts. Addressing the multifaceted benefits of
education, such as critical thinking, socialization, and character development, adds complexity to
the essay. Balancing empirical evidence with personal anecdotes or experiences can be a delicate
task, requiring finesse to create a compelling narrative.
Furthermore, articulating the significance of school without falling into clichГ©s or overly
general statements is no small feat. The essay should transcend surface-level observations and
delve into the nuanced intricacies of the educational landscape.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the importance of school demands a skillful blend of
research, critical thinking, and eloquent expression. Navigating the depth and breadth of the
topic requires a writer's dedication to presenting a nuanced and comprehensive perspective. If
you find yourself grappling with such a task, remember that assistance is available. Services like

Essay on Buddhist view on Abortion
It is quite clear from a variety of sources that abortion has been severely disapproved
of in the Buddhist tradition. It is also equally clear that abortion has been tolerated in
Buddhist Japan and accommodated under exceptional circumstances by some modern
Buddhists in the U.S. The situation is similar to that of Roman Catholicism, where
abortion, though disapproved of in the strongest terms by Church authorities, is still
practiced by a large number of devoted Catholics and defended by at least a few.
As a Buddhist, I would most likely still be for abortion. Buddhism itself speaks with
more than one moral voice on this issue against abortion. The core belief in
Buddhism is against abortion, but there are commonly people of this religion ... Show

If genes were entirely what made up a person, than abortion would not be acceptable,
but that is not the case. In very early stages of a pregnancy, Buddhists don t think of
the fetus as a person yet.
I am a Japanese Buddhist. Where I m from, Buddhism is a little bit different. A lot
of Buddhists consider abortion a moral crime, but in Buddhist metaphysics, the life
force comes from an existence which is fluid like water and returns to that
existence. The fetus is understood to be in a stage of becoming a discrete thing
passing out of the ancient waters. Life that appears in our world or in a woman s
uterus is the formation of a being that was before in the liquid like state of another
reality. Children are liquid and only gradually solidify into humans, this process not
being realized until after birth. Accordingly, the newborn gradually make the
transition from the world of the gods and Buddhas into that of human beings. Most
Japanese Buddhists (like myself) believe that you can be cursed by your baby after
the abortion procedure. Because of this, they perform a Mizuko Kuyo after an
abortion. Mizuko means water child, kuyo means memorial service conducted in
most cases by Buddhist priests.Mizuko Kuyos are ritual ceremonies of apology and
remembrance for aborted fetuses, or the stillborn and miscarried.
Buddhists are strong believers in Karma, the law of cause and effect. They are often

Compare and Contrast
2Pac Saint John the Baptist
Although they lived in very different times, Tupac Shakur and Saint John the Baptist
had many commonalities. Both became extremely famous for expressing what they
believed. The media s portrayal of Tupac Shakur as a tattooed thug has focused
public attention on his accused crimes instead of his music. This rapper, raised in
Marin City, California, by a Black Panther mother, is more complex than his enemies
like to admit. Shakur (who performs as 2Pac) was a talented lyricist with a gift for
storytelling and getting his point across to our youth. He continued to grow as a

Widely Held Beliefs Research Paper
ave you ever wondered if most of the weird little myths/belief your grandma talked
about when you were little or even now are true? Or Where do they come from?
What s the difference between a belief and a myth? Are widely held views often
wrong or are such views more likely to be correct? everyone has their own opinion
and in my opinion most widely held beliefs are wrong. there s many evidence on
how most widely held beliefs turn out to be wrong and this is why.
We know examples of widely held beliefs that we probably heard, but what really are
widely held beliefs. The definition of the word belief is an acceptance that a statement
is true or that something exists. the word widely means by many people or in
many places. Put together basically means beliefs that many people agree with.
widely held beliefs have always been around since the beginning because it all starts
with someone believing in something true or wrong some other people believe it
and on and on until it becomes something a large number of people believe in. Even
though many people accept as if it was true. Some widely ... Show more content on

Because when some are tested most of them turn out to be wrong. Which makes
sense, somehow since most of the time they come from someone s opinion,
experiences, or just thoughts. so widely beliefs are not the most accurate however.
What would actually be the difference between myths and widely held beliefs. A
myth is a widely held but false belief or idea. A belief is an acceptance that a
statement is true or that something exists. which makes them totally different things
since a belief is is just believe that something is true and a myth is a story that most
of the time is false but they still believe in it. they are similar but different in many
ways since both of them have people that believe in them not knowing if it s
The Pressure Of The Health System In Italy
The Health System in Italy is under pressure because of two phenomena: increased
demand for health care services due to population aging where Italy is the third
oldest country in the world, and the growth of chronicity (E.g. in Lombardia area,
30% of chronic and fragile patients absorb 70% of Regional Healthcare System
resources) [9]. These dynamics combined with the absence of economic growth are
putting pressure on the National HealthService budget. Throughout the national
territory adequate and uniform levels of assistance in all regions to the population,
especially the elderly and resident in the inner areas most difficult to reach from the
traditional assistance network to the health system issues to date has been answered...

In this context telemedicine and technological capability can respond to two major
strands: the first is a simplification to ensure that with available technologies, all
actors of a clinical path from taking care to resign, share real time Useful information
for themselves and for other professionals in order to identify and follow the best
path. The second strand is the provision on the territory of technological capacities
that are very developed in a hospital environment but whose deployment is quite
circumscribed.
In the face of the limits of traditional support, it is necessary not only to redesign an
organization, but to a paradigm shift that allows the socio health performance to be
efficiently and sustainably distributed to the widest possible audience. Digital
technologies applied to healthcare and healthcare systems can increase their
efficiency, improve their quality of life and give innovative impetus to healthcare
markets. Telemedicine services can therefore be assimilated to any diagnostic
/ therapeutic health service. However, telemedicine performance does not replace
traditional healthcare performance in the personal patient relationship, but integrates
it to improve its effectiveness, efficiency and appropriateness.
Telemedicine solutions consist of 3 elements:
The software interface between the patient and its medical devices present at home,
The software interface of healthcare professionals at the facility providing the service

Federalism In Australia Summary
In the article, Federalism in Australian Constitutional interpretation: signs of
reinvigoration? , Chordia and Lynch explore the constitutional interpretative approach
used by the majority in Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co
Ltd (1920). The article discusses the key factors in the majority s decision in
Engineers that disadvantaged the states by significantly increasing the power of the
Commonwealth.
Tension between the principles of responsible government and federalism was
anticipated by the framers of the constitution, predicting that the one of the two will
eventually cancel the other one out. This tension surfaced in the majorities decision
in Engineers and is explored using the historical evidence of the framers intentions,
the ideas that influenced them, and Justice Gageler s critique of the Engineers
decision. Chordia and Lynch argue that the majorities decision in Engineers focused
on responsible government, while completely ignoring the principles of Federalism.
This is evident in the delivery of the majorities decision, declaring that the two
fundamental features of the Australian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, Gageler argues that the people of the Commonwealth and the people of the
states are members of a unified sovereign nation rather than members of opposing
groups. As such, the principles of responsible government hold that the laws of the
commonwealth hold government accountable to a unified Crown and to the
Australian people. The third argument is that federalism should only function within
situations that directly involve an interference between the commonwealth and the
states. In particular, this third argument corresponds with the nationalist model of
federation that supports a single unified head of
Essay on art
contemporary art, the art of the late 20th cent. and early 21st cent., both an
outgrowth and a rejection of modern art. As the force and vigor of abstract
expressionism diminished, new artistic movements and styles arose during the 1960s
and 70s to challenge and displace modernism in painting, sculpture, and other media.
Improvisational and Dada like styles employed in the early 1960s and thereafter by
Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns had widespread influence, as did the styles of
many other artists. The most significant of the often loosely defined movements of
early contemporary artincluded pop art, characterized by commonplace imagery
placed in new aesthetic contexts, as in the work of such figures as Andy Warhol and

Among other contemporary neo styles are the cool neo geo abstractions of Peter
Halley and others, the stark structures of neoconceptualism, the slick neopop of such
artists as Jeff Koons, and the landscape revival represented by Diane Burko and April
Gornik, among others.
Many new artists have simultaneously invoked and challenged art history, rejecting
the heroic stature of the singular work of art and the single (usually white male)
artist and invoking the ubiquity of mechanically produced reproductions by
employing sophisticated quotations or appropriations from prior works. This can be
found, for example, in Cindy Sherman s photographic recreations of paintings, in the
multiple quotations of historic images of David Salle s paintings, in the postmodern
takes on Barnett Newman by Philip Taaffe and on Manet by Yasumasa Morimura,
and in the nearly identical representations of famous images such as Picasso s icon
of modernism Les Demoiselles d Avignon by Mike Bidlo.
Also widespread among contemporary artists has been a repudiation of the idea that
underlies most works of pure abstraction that the work of art is a self sufficient entity.
Rejecting the exclusively self referential images of abstraction and the constricted
commercialism of the art world (yet often embracing the wider
Educational Benefits And Suitability Of The Classroom
Among four instructional design models presented in this module, please select two
and discuss the educational benefits/suitability of those two models for your teaching.
The debate about instruction largely hinges on how students learn and what degree of
structure and support they need to acquire important skills and knowledge. according
to Archer, L.A, Hughes, C.A. (2011)
Hence, the purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast two instructional models,
namely Project Based Learning (PBL) and Explicit Instruction (EI) and discuss the
educational benefits/suitability of these two models to the teaching of mathematics
in high school.

They will achieve this by spending an extended period of time in groups investigating
and finding the necessary information required to effectively answer the challenging
issue or problem. So though both models seek to assist students to learn and engage
in their learning the processes/steps in which they will engage in to achieve this
outcome differ immensely.
Does this instructional design model provide clear directions for teachers to select,
structure, and sequence learning activities?
Explicit Instruction does indeed provide clear directions for teachers to select,
structure, and sequence learning activities as illustrated by the range of instructional
behaviours that characterise an explicit approach to teaching students
Researchers such as Swanson (1995) have identified a set of steps that teachers need
to concentrate on so that genuine explicit teaching takes place.
These include:
1.Focus instruction on critical content.
2.Sequence skills logically
3.Break down complex skills and strategies into smaller instructional units. mastered,
units are synthesized (i.e., practiced as a whole).
4.Design organised and focused lessons.
5.Begin lessons with a clear statement of the lesson s goals and your expectations.
6.Review prior skills and knowledge before beginning instruction
7.Provide step by step demonstrations.

Patient Care For A Patient
Pediatric patients in hospital settings are unquestionably in a defenseless position and
are highly reliant on nurses to provide for their individual needs. In the poem above,
not only was the pediatric patient s needs met, but also the nurse showed caring
qualities that made the patient feel comforted. As a pediatric nurse, caring is a quality
that is imperative to include along with nursing interventions to provide holistic care
for a patient. Caring holds significant value to us professionally. We believe caring is
an essential characteristic in nursing. Without this characteristic, one will not be able
to care for a patient effectively. Patients we work with deal with many different

By researching more about the caring theory, it may change some nurses perception
about implementing caring more within their nursing practice. Researching more
about caring and how to implement it can be essential when dealing with a difficult
patient or family member. A concept analysis is used to evaluate the development of
nursing concept by identifying gaps in nursing knowledge, determining the need to
refine or clarify a concept when it appears to have multiple meanings, evaluating the
adequacy of competing concepts in their relation to other phenomena, examining the
congruence between the definition of the concept and the way it has been
operationalized, and determining the fit between the definition of the concept and its
clinical application. Caring has been investigated, researched and studied in various
methods, this concept analysis paper will clarify vague or ambiguous concepts and
identify and classify the caring theory. Applying the caring theory to pediatric nursing
can help improve patient outcomes in several areas. One goal using the caring theory
is to apply the caring theory along with medical oriented nursing in the hospital to
help increase compliance among transplant pediatric patients on immunosuppressant
therapy. Second goal is to incorporate the caring theory when taking care of suicidal
pediatric patients to help decrease the number of readmissions for suicidal attempts.

What Are Antonio Vivaldi s Accomplishments
Throughout his life Antonio Vivaldi had many achievements. Some were big some
were little some were small but they didn t matter that much to him. His love and
talent for music was much better than anything he could be given. Without his music
the classical music genre would be almost non existent.
Antonio Vivaldi had a very interesting childhood. To start off, he was born on March,
4 1678 in Venice, Italy. He was the eldest child of nine and had four brothers and four
sisters. Antonio s father Battista was a very popular violinist at the time. This was a
very big reason Vivaldi grew up to be the musical legend he is today. Battista often
took Antonio to popular concerts and introduced him to different popular
musicians. This was another huge factor that influenced him to play music. When he
thought he had mastered the violin, Antonio decided to try to different woodwind
instruments, but he had asthma and couldn t play longer notes and songs so after a

a priest. After 10 years of studying the lord he was officially ordained. A fun fact
about Vivaldi is that they actually called him il Prete Rosso which means The Red
Priest . The other priests called him this due to his red hair. Sadly, his ten years of
studying didn t pay off because he had to end his priesthood because of unknown
medical issues. After he ended his priesthood Vivaldi got bored often so so
decided to take the violin more serious. In fact he took it so seriously that he
actually taught it at Ospedale Della Pieta which was an orphanage. Much like his
priesthood this job was short lived. In less than a year Antonio was voted out of his
job six to seven. After this he decided to attend a Festival with his father where they
played the famous 4 Seasons concerto. This event inspired him to write

Women In The Early Modern Era
When a historian thinks of the early modern era, most of history that is examined
involves men. The reason for this is that history often involves examining major
accomplishments, achievements, battles and inventions. For this reason women
were often left out because in the early modern era there were not women artists ,
musicians, scientists and rulers. The reason for this is because men in this era
believed that, Women are created for no other purpose than to serve men and be
their helpers. If a women weary or even die while bearing children, that doesn t harm
anything. Let them bear children to death; they are created for that. Therefore

Clive Bell And The Formalist Theory Essay
Clive Bell and the Formalist Theory
Art is a recurring form of human practice. Some have argued that all human societies
have shown evidence of artistic activities. (Carroll 5)
Man has long created art, this much is certain. However, man has never ultimately
defined art. There are so many things which qualify as art and as many qualities to
each piece that trying to find answers only seems result in more questions. The
formalist theory of art, as present by Clive Bell, makes an attempt at defining art and
answering many of these questions. Below is a discussion of the formalist theory; its
definition, its strengths, and its weaknesses as evidenced by the work of Clive Bell.
Clive Bell theorizes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is based on the Common Denominator Argument, which is put forth by Noel
Carroll. This is one of the same arguments that Bell puts forward, Carroll simply
elucidates the matter.
...the Common Denominator Argument . This argument begins with the
unexceptionable presupposition that if anything is to count as a necessary condition
of art status, then it must be a property had by every artwork. (Carroll 111).
Carroll believes that some things are art, some things are not art, and their must be a
factor common to all art which differentiates it from not art because the two things
are clearly distinct.
Formalism is in some ways an advantageous theory of art. It has advantages over
both representationalism and expressionism. Representationalism is the theory of
art that in order for something to qualify as art, it must be representative of its
content. Thus, a drawing of a tree is representative of a tree because it obviously
resembles a tree. The matter goes beyond that though; works of art may even be
representative via metaphor, common qualities with subject, or fiat. If a work of art
is classified as art via metaphor, its content is a metaphor for the actual object. Thus,
in Peter and the Wolf each of the instruments is a metaphor for the subjects they
represent. An oboe is not a duck, but both can make a quacking

technology in education. However, none of the studies have answered all of the
questions that are essential to determining whether continuous infusion of new
technologies in education can improve the quality of education. Since a clear answer
to this question is vital to help educational organizations to make decisions on how

One of the drawbacks mentioned in the article Technology: A Catalyst for Teaching
and Learning in the Classroom, is that technology is very expensive, requires
ongoing support and constant upgrades, and is not as cost effective as other
investments in education (Valdez 21). Some critics think technology is a waste of
scarce resources in education (Valdez 22), because overspending in technology can
leave inadequate funds for other pressing needs in education. The funds invested in
new technologies can instead be invested in other ways such as arts, science
laboratories and shops that allow for more hands on learning (Valdez 21). Well
balanced funding for all essential elements in education is an important strategy to
follow in the reality of scarce resources in education.
As stated by the author Sue Ferguson in the article How Computers Make Our Kids
Stupid, computers and the internet distract students from real learning, which is
evident by the poor academic achievement associated with excessive and improper
use of computers and internet (Ferguson 2). This view is supported by a massive
study conducted by University of Munich economists Thomas Fuchs and Ludger
Woessmann in November, 2004, with a subject pool of 174,000 15 year olds in

The Negative Impacts Of Integrity In Society
BrenГ© Brown once said, Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing
what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values
rather than simply professing them. Integrity is threatened everyday by three major
combatants: cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Many do not realize the extent of
their actions. Life is like the domino effect: an action always affects someone else.
When a person lacking integrity makes a decision, the people affected are often
wounded in the process. A lack of integrity leads to a life of negative impacts with
the three main threats to integrity being cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Cheating is
universal, and it is very similar worldwide. According to the LA Times, Teachers say
that hiding cheat sheets in socks, copying neighbors answers and scribbling notes on
walls are the most common tactics. Test papers routinely are leaked as well, often by
low level school employees who sell them for the equivalent of a few dollars, and
sometimes by teachers or administrators whose professional standing rises if students
perform well (Shashank Bengali 3). This shows that children were not only ones
benefitting from cheating. The children themselves benefitted by passing the tests,
but the others benefitted in monetary and social standings. Although children benefit
immediately from cheating, there are negative impacts in the long run. In an article
by Bengali, Madhukar Yadhav says, ...they are used to
Puritan Flower Metaphors
When asked about what they know of the Puritans, many people immediately mention
their strict lifestyles. Puritans are mostly pictured wearing rigid black clothing and
thumping their Bibles. However, Puritans were fascinatingly smart and creative
people. Their writings, though mostly dedicated to God and his glory, contain
beautiful scenes from nature and interesting metaphors. One common comparison
that these writers make is that of comparing themselves to flowers. By looking closer
at why and how this metaphor is commonly used, one could learn many things about
the Puritans and their theology. In several Puritan poems, the authors refer to
themselves, their children, or their grandchildren as flowers or trees. In Anne
Bradstreet s poem In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one were to think of humans as flowers in a garden, then that must make God the
gardener. In both Anne Bradstreet s and Edward Taylor s poetry, they describe their
little flowers being plucked or cropped by God s hand. In Taylor s poem Upon
Wedlock, and Death of Children, he writes Lord take t. I thank Thee. Thou take st
ought of mine: ( Wedlock 28). This may seem harsh to the modern reader, that God
would forcefully take their children and grandchildren, and that they would then
thank him for it. However, to the Puritans, this was common sense. This idea that
God has a hand in and moves all things, it present in almost all of their writings. In
Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, she thanks God for every good thing that
happens to her, and every bad thing. She, like the other Puritans, believe that every
event in their lives was enacted by God and served some purpose. In her instance,
she believes that God was punishing her for not respecting the Sabbath day like she
ought to have. Similarly, Anne Bradstreet believes that the death of her grandchild
was directly enacted by God. She ends the poem with the lines And buds new
blown to have so short a date,/ Is by His hand alone that guides nature and fate (
Memory I 13 14). If God decrees everything that happens, then that must mean that
free will does not exist, that the human race is merely doing what God has made
them do. Thus, the extended metaphor of humans as flowers makes even more
sense. Flowers do not have a choice where they are planted or when they will be
picked. It is entirely up to the
Jazz Dance Research Paper
There are many different styles of jazz dance. The first of these is authentic jazz
dance. It has influences that come from African movement, and was developed along
with jazz music during the early 1900s. Some qualities which are often seen in this
style include groundedness, syncopation, polyrhythm, polycentrism, articulation of
the torso, circles, improvisation, and individuality. Two styles of dance which fall
into this category include tap dance, which developed as a collection of native African
dances combined with European dances, and club jazzdance, which developed in the

One of these people was Jack Cole. Cole trained with many prominent modern
dancers of the time, including Ruth St. Denis, Ted Shawn, Doris Humphrey, and
Charles Weidman, as well as studying ballet with Cecchetti. He danced with
Denishawn, a modern company, but also spent time dancing in nightclubs. He was
also introduced to dance styles from India. His influence from ballet, modern, and
ethnic dances, helped him to create his own style, which was seen in his
choreography. He did a lot of choreography that was displayed in either Broadway
productions, or movies. Some of these included Ziegfeld Follies, Gentlemen Prefer
Blondes, and Some Like It Hot. His style included movements such as intensity in the
eyes, a low center of gravity, use of levels, and attack. Another important figure of this
period was Katherine Dunham. She received a degree in anthropology, which she
used to research dance traditions in the Caribbean and in Africa. Although she was
primarily trained in modern, her research on dance traditions within the African
American community were an important contribution to jazz dance. She opened
several dance schools throughout her career. One of them, the Dunham School of
Dance and Theatre, offered classes in not only dance, but also subjects such as

The And The World Of The Night The Floor
Imagine lying in bed sleeping, when in the middle of the night the floor gives way
and the earth sucks you up into it. This is what happened to a Florida man in
2013. His friend came by to check on him because he had not heard from him for a
while, only to find the large hole in the bedroom and Mr. Bush was no where to be
found.
He has not been found to this day. A sinkholeswallowed him up alive and was never
to be heard from again. Sinkholes are formed from the limestone that is in our
ground throughout the U.S.A and the world. There are natural cracks in these
bedrocks where the water flows through to the underground into caverns or
pockets, and when these pockets dry up due to sewers, drainage pipes and city
piping (which makes the natural way of water to be absorbed into the ground,
disturbed), it makes the ground soft because there is no more water there to fill
the cavern and thus it caves in forming a sinkhole. Florida is nicknamed sinkhole
alley because between Orlando to Tampa and Miami to Jacksonville, there are over
2500 sinkholes ready to pop up at any given time. There is many underwater springs,
in Florida it is called the Devils Den which was formed more than ten thousand years
ago.

Diamond is a giant covalent network structure, having each Carbon atom sharing
electrons with four other Carbon atoms, therefore having four single covalent bonds
formed. These Carbon covalent bonds are extremely strong and account for two of
diamond s most prominent physical properties among all elements, hardness and a
high melting point. Diamond has a high melting point due to the fact that diamond is
a covalent lattice, hence, melting this covalent lattice involves breaking many strong
covalent bonds. This melting process requires a large amount of energy and, as a
result, melting diamond requires a high temperature, approximately around 35500C.
Having strong covalent bonds, diamond also has a high level of hardness due to...

It are these properties which allow graphite to be used to draw with (using a pencil),
as the friction against weak intermolecular forces on paper causes layers of graphite
to rub off onto the paper. It is this layered structure and the weak bonding between
the sheets that determines the soft slippery feel of graphite, thus, creating graphite s
self lubricating property. Being used a lubricant, graphite can be used at very high or
low temperatures for many different works, such as: steelmaking, wire die extrusion
lubricant, gear lubricant for mining machinery and to lubricate locks. While natural
graphite can be used in zinc carbon batteries in electric motor brushes and other
specific works.
From all of these uses, graphite also has the ability to conduct electricity, and we can
the reason as to why when looking at the electron arrangement in graphite. As each
Carbon atom bonds to three other Carbon atoms, there is a fourth electron
remaining in the bonding level. These remaining electrons in each Carbon atom
form into a sea of delocalised electrons, moving around the whole sheet of atoms in
the one layer. It is the ability of these delocalised electrons to move freely through
their own Carbon layer, hence, making graphite a good conductor of electricity.
Being a good conductor of electricity graphite, can be used as electrodes to an arc
lamp and to carry the electricity that heats electric arc furnaces.
Due to graphite s layered structure,

The June 2011 total eclipse
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its
umbra (shadow). This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned (in
syzygy ) exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar
eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse
depend upon the Moon s location relative to its orbital nodes. Unlike a solar eclipse,
which can only be viewed from a certain relatively small area of the world, a lunar
eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of the Earth. A lunar eclipse

Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the
small particles, and so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the
longer wavelengths dominate. This resulting light we perceive as red. This is the
same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to turn the sky a reddish color; an
alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as viewed from the
Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth.
The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the
atmosphere; this also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier
the atmosphere, the more that other wavelengths of light will be removed
(compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a deeper red color. This causes
the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse to the next.
Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and
a large eruption shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color.

Exploring Personality Development Business in India
ABSTRACT:
There has been a growing trend to go for personality development in India in between
students, businessmen, corporates, etc. This study research aims at exploring the
unexplored market of personality development business in India. Apart from just
exploring the market the research also tries to study the scope of personality
development business in the near future. The research also tries to analyze the role;
personality development plays in the overall success of a person. In addition to this,
the intrusion of personality development in the formal education system is also under
study.

To find out that the in India believe the same thing, corporates in India are investing
into personal development, the following hypothesis is taken
H2: Personal development consistently learning is gaining importance.
Since most of the current personality development institutes are thriving and giving
all those stuff that formal education system lacks, and a large number of people are
believing that formal education in India is insufficient we take the following
hypothesis:
H3:Formal education alone is insufficient for success in life.
Conventionally the various areas of personality development are
Vedic mathematics, public speaking, teamwork, leadership, English speaking,
attitudinal seminars, conversation techniques, speed reading, acting, adventure
sports, mind power [hypnotism, meditations etc], yoga.
So that to know which areas would they give maximum weightage we make the
following hypothesis.
H4: Each area of the personality development program is equally weighted.
METHODOLOGY: The data used in this report is collected from doing a survey. A
questionnaire is used for conducting research. Questionnaires are used primarily as
there has been very less study done on this subject in India specially related to our
hypothesis. Since the research are having mostly yes no type questions, we can t use
quantitative techniques like regression analysis, etc.
A Christmas Carol Analysis
The story of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens has a few main themes, one of
which is regret. Dickens starts out this repeated theme with a man named Jacob
Marley. Marley is an ex business partner of the main character Ebenezer Scrooge.
Marley s dead ghost visits Scrooge in the night to warn Scrooge that he faces the
same fate that Marley ultimately found. Marley regrets his lifestyle and choices, and
wants to let Scrooge know he has a chance to avoid eternal regret. This story is how
the novel starts out the theme of regret.
Scrooge is then taken by three spirits: Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and
Christmas Future. Along each journey, Scrooge experiences a time in his life where
he regrets how he handled a situation, or how he responded

The Meaning Of Discipline In School
Discipline means follow rules to be worked hard by someone in the interest of

watched the class. There were colorful belts and at the end they fought each other
with pads on their legs and arms. After they bowed and shook hands with the teacher
and his assistants. He walked over to where we were sitting.
Welcome! he said with a Korean accent. My dad introduced himself and I did the
same. Then we followed him to a room in the back of what looked like a padded

was amazed by the Korean artifacts. He and my dad talked like what seemed like an

The Darkness Of Light By Ambrose Bierce
Ambrose Bierce was known as the mist of light . His stories were usually centered
on civil war. It was usually a horror or supernatural story, but it could be a comic or
tall tale as well. Bierce s Chickamauga is nothing short of a horror story. This story
is known as one of the most powerful anti war stories, and fits in with the literary
criticism New Historicism. It is about a young boyaround the age of 6 years, whose
father had fought in the Civil War. We later find out that the young boy is deaf and
mute. This, and him being only 6 years of age, causes him to be naГЇve about the
things he sees in the forest one day when he gets lost.
The story starts off with the young boy wandering off from the house he lives at,
hoping to find an adventure. He even brought his wooden sword along to fight the
battles he was to face. He soon realizes he is lost and gets startled by a rabbit, and
he begins crying himself to sleep. When he sees the rabbit, he is confronted with a
new and more formidable enemy. This is an example of imagery in the story which
is carried throughout the story (Bierce). When he finally awakes, he begins to see
men crawling on their hands and feet toward him. This is one time his naГЇve ways
get in the way. The narrator of the story says, Something in this something too,
perhaps, in their grotesque attitudes and movements reminded him of the painted
clown whom he had seen last summer in the circus, and he laughed as he watched
them. He didn t
Chevy Vs Sonic
These two Chevrolet vehicles, Corvette and Sonic, has very different types of
visual rhetoric which are like interpretive theories with their particular adaptation
style. For example, Chevrolet Corvette and Chevrolet Sonic are two entirely
different models of this brand. Chevrolet Corvette gives an image of a sports car
with different features requires for a sports cars. This may be because of the
historical association that Chevrolet has with racecars (Ferrell Hartline, 2014).
Corvette includes the particular style which is Stingray Couple 1LT, capacity of 2
passengers, gas engine, 2 doors and rear wheel drive, wow, it s a beauty. This vehicle
seems to be one of the iconic cars, of this brand, still on the street. Yes, this is a car
A Career As An Athletic Trainer
Athletic Trainer
Have you been looking to get in shape? Recovering from a bone or muscle injury?
Out of many other jobs I could have chose, athletic trainer seemed best. Helping
people with their lives and health sounds like something I would like to do. This job
could also be difficult if the trainee didn t want to cooperate or was unable to eat
certain foods.
Athletic trainers mainly prevent, diagnose, and treat bone and muscle injuries, along
with illness. All that is needed to become one is a bachelor s degree and possibly a
licence depending on which state you live. This will take more time than I thought
because I didn t think anything was required.
I would work either in an educational setting like a college or a school, or places like
a hospital or fitness center. The place that I would prefer to work is a fitness center
but, I would settle for something else if I got the chance. ... Show more content on

I would be making quite a bit of money because the median annual wage is $43,370.
The lowest ten percent of people make less than $27,610 and the highest ten percent

I want to be an athletic trainer because I have a fairly healthy lifestyle and I don t
think this job would seem like work to me. I am excited to possibly see what this job
is like and how it is compared to what I
Thomas Robert Malthus Essay
Thomas Robert Malthus
Thomas Robert Malthus is one of the most controversial figures in the history of
economics. He achieved fame chiefly from the population doctrine that is now
closely linked with his name. Contrary to the late eighteenth century views that it was
possible to improve people s living standards, Malthus held that any such
improvements would cause the population to grow and thereby reverse these gains.
Malthus also sparked controversy with his contemporaries on issues of methodology
(by arguing that economics should be an empirical rather than a deductive science),
over questions of theory (by holding that economies can experience prolonged bouts
of high unemployment), and on policy issues (by arguing against free ... Show more

In addition to the controversies surrounding his principle of population, Malthus
became embroiled in important debates with Ricardo over British Poor Laws and
Corn Laws, the benefits of free trade, and the possibility of gluts or insufficient
demand for goods.
In mid eighteenth century England the industrial revolution was in full swing.
However, workers lived near the level of physical subsistence, and their condition
worsened in latter half of the eighteenth century. Monotony and repetition
characterized factory work; the tyranny of the factory clock and the pace of the
assembly line were beyond the control of all workers. The division of labor,
praised by Adam Smith in The Wealth of Nations as the means to productivity
growth and rising living standards, made work so routine that women and children
could perform jobs just as easily as men. Business owners logically preferred such
workers because they could be hired for less.
These circumstances gave rise to numerous champions of the working class.
Among the best known were the Marquis de Condorcet, Robert Owen and William
Godwin. Condorcet (1795) argued that greater economic equality and more security
for workers would improve their material well being. Toward this end he advocated
two reforms a welfare system to provide security for the working poor, and
government regulation of credit to keep down interest rates so that needy families
could borrow money at lower cost. Owen attempted to develop

However with the recent years there has been talks about Tesco and their financial
profits falling down by 92% (Ruddick, 2014). So the main focus of the report will be
that I will analyse the strength, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of Tesco and
come up with a recommendation at the end for Tesco to improve. Additionally I will
be analysing about Tesco Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental
and Legal factors. The end of the report will establish a possible recommendation to
help guide Tesco strategy in the future.
PESTEL Analysis
Political Factors:
When it comes down to Tesco s worldwide presence is that their performance will
be influenced by global political factors which include, tax rate, acts of legislation
and the overall political stability of the countries the company operates in. Due to
the ongoing financial instability across the world, the governments have
increasingly encouraged retailers to create more jobs and opportunities for the local
people. From lower paid and locally based jobs to higher skilled, higher based jobs.
This is very important consideration as it creates more employment opportunities.
Tesco is ensuring their workforce is diversified and representative of the population,
such key categories include students, elder citizens and disabled people.
Economic Factors:
Many political changes will result in many changes that can happen in the economy.

are mainly flysch deposits inter preted to have been derived primarily from the
igneous rocks of the Peninsular terrane to the southeast, with local contri butions
from the Triassic Chilikadrotna Greenstones to the northwest (Wallace et al., 1989;

The Peninsular terrane is a Triassic to Jurassic island arc complex that was accreted
to the North American craton by the Early Cretaceous (Detterman and Reed, 1980;
Jones et al., 1987; Ridgway et al., 2002; Trop et al., 2002, 2005; Clift et al., 2005).
The terrane includes mafic to andesitic flows and volcaniclastic rocks, limestone,
and mudstone. These rocks structurally overlie and are intruded by Jurassic plutonic
rocks of the Talkeetna arc (Reed and Lanphere, 1973; Reed et al., 1983; Rioux et al.,

dominated by quartz diorite and tonalite rocks (Detterman and Reed, 1980; Reed et

The Togiak terrane, located west of the Peninsular terrane, is an island arc complex
that contains Late Triassic to Early Cretaceous basaltic to dacitic volcanic and
volcaniclastic rocks and graywacke (Decker et al., 1994). These rocks were ac creted
to the North American craton during the middle to late Early Cretaceous (Box, 1985).
The Peninsular and Togiak terranes are separated by the Farewell terrane (Fig. 1) that

Religion And Politics And Religion
Religion and politics are two topics that should never be discussed. The reasoning
behind this statement is because both are very controversial, especially religion. The
term religion in itself does not have a proper definition because it varies based on
what an individuals response the question of: what is religion? Throughout history,
religions and belief systems have been associated with wars, persecution, diasporas,
etc., which ultimately infers that religion is at the core of violence, hatred and
exclusion. A main reason for these emotions of such negatively is due to the
incapability of individuals to be understanding of the beliefs of others, and the
ignorance that surrounds what religions consist of. The essence of religion is
classified as faith, which ultimately leads to ignorance on the behalf of the one with
faith and on society as a whole, due to lack of evidence and a preconceived notion to
whom God truly is.
Understanding religion means understanding the discrepancies within a majority of
sacred scripture. The reason to specifically focus on scripture is due to it being the
core of many religions, especially those that evolved from Abraham. According to
Oxford Dictionaries, the term ignorance refers to: lack of knowledge or information.
Alongside that definition the term faith means: strong belief in God or in the
doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. Every
religion is about a lack of evidence to support certain

Fast Casual Restaurants in Ukraine

Newport Beach Winter 2016
Many US consumers want their meals in a hurry, but with more service and higher
quality food than in traditional fast food restaurant. The result has been the rise of
fast casual restaurant chains such as Daphne s Greek Cafe, Boston Market and
Panera Bread. The intent of fast casual restaurants is to deliver a quality home
cooked meal such as roast chicken, or fresh salad and bread in comfortable setting
and quickly. Many consider concept of fast casual to be a major restaurant niche that
will be as important as fast food, and perhaps even surpass it in the ... Show more

Additionally, some people live and work in the small towns where fast casual
restaurants have not yet established and there actually the demand is very small for
such restaurants because people live not far from work and just go home during
lunch break. Ukraine people also state that eating casual or fast foods daily is not
healthy since most of the meals in the restaurants are deep fried and can be a
problem to your health if daily consumed (Yunus, Zulkeflee, Razak, Ilias, 2013).
Now about position of Fast Casual restaurants compare to Fast Food restaurants. A
fast casual restaurant is a new concept in the restaurant industry. It combines concepts
from the fast food and full service casual dining restaurants. Some famous fast casual
restaurants include Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG), Panera Bread (PNRA), Noodles
Company (NDLS), Potbelly Sandwich Works (PBPB), and Subway.
Several restaurants are focusing on changing their restaurants images by
remodeling their existing stores. Burger King (BKW), for example, has a goal to
remodel about 40% of its U.S. and Canadian market restaurants by the end of 2015.
According to the company, its already re imaged stores have boosted sales by 10% to
15%
Reports suggest that this service can be started in Ukraine, and some companies
such as McD, already started and getting good responses. In Ukraine, as elsewhere,
McDonald s is shaping the public s standard for quality and service and setting an
Active Smokers in Indonesia
There are a lot of smokers in the world. In Indonesia, the number of these smokers is
really surprising. There are over 60 million people active smokers in this country
(Faizal, 2012). In Jakarta, smokers are the kings. Go to any coffee shop or any other
public place, really and you ll easily spot people smokingin a room that has an
obvious no smoking sign (Barley, 2011). It will be no surprise if the non smokers are
the minority in this city. Although horrifying impacts of smoking are clearly written
on the cover of every cigarettepackages, it seems that the active smokers does not
really care about the advertising, as the number of active smokers are very high.
There are two types of smokers. The first is the active smokers and the second is
the passive smokers. The active smokers are then broken down into 7 types of
smokers. The first is the Skinny Smoker. The skinny smokers are those people who
thinks that they can lose and maintain their skinny weight just by smoking.
Moreover, skinny smokers are trapped with the idea that once they stop smoking, it
would make them gain weight. The next type of smokers are the Sneaky smokers;
who smoke when their family or friends are not around. They tend to be ashamed to
smoke in front of people. Third is the Rebel Smokers, they smoke because its
unhealthy and against the rules. Fourth is the Social Smokers, these types of smokers
are those people who smoke only in certain situation, for example at parties, at night
out or
Essay about The poetry of Seamus Heaney is deceptively...
The poetry of Seamus Heaney is deceptively simple. Examine this comment in the
light of his choices of subject, diction, and structure. You should refer to at least two
poems in your responses.
The deceptive simplicity of the poet can be helped to be understood through P A M
Dirac, who suggests that poetry tries to tell people in a way that is understood by no
one, something everybody already knew.
If you can comprehend this, it is easier to see how the poetry of
Heaney can be called deceptively simple, the surface which appears to be the
reminiscing of his youth, is misleading, in actuality it is hinting at something far
more complex and explaining lessons of life that he learnt, that the reader may never
grasps.

It is possible that the deeper meaning to a Mid Term
Break is that of coming to terms with the fact that it was not his fault that this
pointless loss of young life occurred. He may have felt that if he had not been away
at school his brother may never had died but the poet needs time (many years) to
justify this and come to terms with his bereavement.
A common point in each of the poems is that of the poets internal struggle to come
to terms with himself, acceptance of himself as the person he is. This is clearly
seen in Digging where he shows nothing but admiration for his father and the
expertise needed to farm, which is highlighted by the use of technical terms such
as lug . He finally concludes that his skill as a writer, a poet, is just as valued as
that of a farmer and that in all likelihood his feelings of guilt at discarding tradition
were not necessary and there was no need to believe he could not live up to
expectations, he has accepted himself.
Through Heaney s poetry we come to understand, that his ideas do not just relate to
him, they relate to us as well, they show the connection between human lives. This is
what William Carlos Williams calls the universality of the local . When you look
deeper and scrutinize the poems they become more than just the memories of a man.
Beyond the surface there are layers of meaning, complexity,
Pornography, Erotica, and Nude Art – There Is a
Difference...
Pornography is a subject that has always been argued and stirs up controversy
almost anywhere it may arise. There are people who are against it, and would like
to ban all pornography for the benefit of everyone, while there are those who defend
it, claiming it is part of their guaranteed free speech, to express themselves in a
manner of their choosing. With the issue of pornographybeing debated and spoken of,
one major mistake people make is that they look at pornography according to their
own views. Different types of people look at pornography differently, and therefore
create their own definition of pornography in their minds. Usually, pornography tends
to be mistaken with nude art and erotica, so some people consider erotic as... Show

So the students were then allowed to look at the subject s breasts and ponder the
importance of nude art as they made replicas of the woman in a graceful, artistic,
position. The students probably submitted a signed note from their parents to be
involved in the sculpture session, because I do not know of any public school that
would allow its students to take part in this type of class during school hours, on
school grounds. The woman s nudity is considered as art because she is posing for
an art class, which was allowed by a public school, although I highly do not think
that it would actually happen. Nude art s purpose is to portray the human body as an
art form, and not an object of sexuality or arousal.
Both pornography and erotica have the main purpose to sexually stimulate people,
but pornography does not show the emotional connection between the individuals
involved in the sexual acts, while erotica does. Erotica is just like nude art, except
that erotica possesses no artistic value, and art does contain an artistic value that
is accepted by everyone. There is a form of art called erotic art that I guess is a
mixture of erotica and nude art. But if guidelines were to be set by the government,
art forms that could be on the borderline of erotic art could be easier to distinguish.
Pornography is not classified as nude art at all, and nude art is not pornography.
Pornography just has the sole

  • 2. Essay on Buddhist view on Abortion It is quite clear from a variety of sources that abortion has been severely disapproved of in the Buddhist tradition. It is also equally clear that abortion has been tolerated in Buddhist Japan and accommodated under exceptional circumstances by some modern Buddhists in the U.S. The situation is similar to that of Roman Catholicism, where abortion, though disapproved of in the strongest terms by Church authorities, is still practiced by a large number of devoted Catholics and defended by at least a few. As a Buddhist, I would most likely still be for abortion. Buddhism itself speaks with more than one moral voice on this issue against abortion. The core belief in Buddhism is against abortion, but there are commonly people of this religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If genes were entirely what made up a person, than abortion would not be acceptable, but that is not the case. In very early stages of a pregnancy, Buddhists don t think of the fetus as a person yet. I am a Japanese Buddhist. Where I m from, Buddhism is a little bit different. A lot of Buddhists consider abortion a moral crime, but in Buddhist metaphysics, the life force comes from an existence which is fluid like water and returns to that existence. The fetus is understood to be in a stage of becoming a discrete thing passing out of the ancient waters. Life that appears in our world or in a woman s uterus is the formation of a being that was before in the liquid like state of another reality. Children are liquid and only gradually solidify into humans, this process not being realized until after birth. Accordingly, the newborn gradually make the transition from the world of the gods and Buddhas into that of human beings. Most Japanese Buddhists (like myself) believe that you can be cursed by your baby after the abortion procedure. Because of this, they perform a Mizuko Kuyo after an abortion. Mizuko means water child, kuyo means memorial service conducted in most cases by Buddhist priests.Mizuko Kuyos are ritual ceremonies of apology and remembrance for aborted fetuses, or the stillborn and miscarried. Buddhists are strong believers in Karma, the law of cause and effect. They are often morally

Compare and Contrast 2Pac Saint John the Baptist Essay Compare and Contrast 2Pac Saint John the Baptist Although they lived in very different times, Tupac Shakur and Saint John the Baptist had many commonalities. Both became extremely famous for expressing what they believed. The media s portrayal of Tupac Shakur as a tattooed thug has focused public attention on his accused crimes instead of his music. This rapper, raised in Marin City, California, by a Black Panther mother, is more complex than his enemies like to admit. Federalism In Australia Summary In the article, Federalism in Australian Constitutional interpretation: signs of reinvigoration? , Chordia and Lynch explore the constitutional interpretative approach used by the majority in Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd (1920). The article discusses the key factors in the majority s decision in Engineers that disadvantaged the states by significantly increasing the power of the Commonwealth. Tension between the principles of responsible government and federalism was anticipated by the framers of the constitution, predicting that the one of the two will eventually cancel the other one out. This tension surfaced in the majorities decision in Engineers and is explored using the historical evidence of the framers intentions, the ideas that influenced them, and Justice Gageler s critique of the Engineers decision. As the force and vigor of abstract expressionism diminished, new artistic movements and styles arose during the 1960s and 70s to challenge and displace modernism in painting, sculpture, and other media. Improvisational and Dada like styles employed in the early 1960s and thereafter by Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns had widespread influence, as did the styles of many other artists. Among other contemporary neo styles are the cool neo geo abstractions of Peter Halley and others, the stark structures of neoconceptualism, the slick neopop of such artists as Jeff Koons, and the landscape revival represented by Diane Burko and April Gornik, among others. Many new artists have simultaneously invoked and challenged art history, rejecting the heroic stature of the singular work of art and the single (usually white male) artist and invoking the ubiquity of mechanically produced reproductions by employing sophisticated quotations or appropriations from prior works. This can be found, for example, in Cindy Sherman s photographic recreations of paintings, in the multiple quotations of historic images of David Salle s paintings, in the postmodern takes on Barnett Newman by Philip Taaffe and on Manet by Yasumasa Morimura, and in the nearly identical representations of famous images such as Picasso s icon of modernism Les Demoiselles d Avignon by Mike Bidlo. Also widespread among contemporary artists has been a repudiation of the idea that underlies most works of pure abstraction that the work of art is a self sufficient entity. Rejecting the exclusively self referential images of abstraction and the constricted commercialism of the art world (yet often embracing the wider

Explicit Instruction does indeed provide clear directions for teachers to select, structure, and sequence learning activities as illustrated by the range of instructional behaviours that characterise an explicit approach to teaching students Researchers such as Swanson (1995) have identified a set of steps that teachers need to concentrate on so that genuine explicit teaching takes place. Formalism is in some ways an advantageous theory of art. It has advantages over both representationalism and expressionism. Representationalism is the theory of art that in order for something to qualify as art, it must be representative of its content. Thus, a drawing of a tree is representative of a tree because it obviously resembles a tree. The matter goes beyond that though; works of art may even be representative via metaphor, common qualities with subject, or fiat. If a work of art is classified as art via metaphor, its content is a metaphor for the actual object. Thus, in Peter and the Wolf each of the instruments is a metaphor for the subjects they represent. An oboe is not a duck, but both can make a quacking

The Effects of Technology in Education Cheng Chang Burgess Olivia ENG 60 26 July 2012 The Effects of Technology in Education Modern technology has penetrated every aspect of our lives and made great impacts on our daily activities, especially in the area of education. The continuous infusion of technology in education has become an unchangeable tendency. Given the increased use of technology in education, much research has been done on the value of technology in education. However, none of the studies have answered all of the questions that are essential to determining whether continuous infusion of new technologies in education can improve the quality of education. One of the drawbacks mentioned in the article Technology: A Catalyst for Teaching and Learning in the Classroom, is that technology is very expensive, requires ongoing support and constant upgrades, and is not as cost effective as other investments in education (Valdez 21). Some critics think technology is a waste of scarce resources in education (Valdez 22), because overspending in technology can leave inadequate funds for other pressing needs in education. The funds invested in new technologies can instead be invested in other ways such as arts, science laboratories and shops that allow for more hands on learning (Valdez 21). Well balanced funding for all essential elements in education is an important strategy to follow in the reality of scarce resources in education. As stated by the author Sue Ferguson in the article How Computers Make Our Kids Stupid, computers and the internet distract students from real learning, which is evident by the poor academic achievement associated with excessive and improper use of computers and internet (Ferguson 2). This view is supported by a massive study conducted by University of Munich economists Thomas Fuchs and Ludger Woessmann in November, 2004, with a subject pool of 174,000 15 year olds in reading, 97,000 each in math and
  • 21. The Negative Impacts Of Integrity In Society BrenГ© Brown once said, Integrity is choosing courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fun, fast, or easy; and choosing to practice our values rather than simply professing them. Integrity is threatened everyday by three major combatants: cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Many do not realize the extent of their actions. Life is like the domino effect: an action always affects someone else. When a person lacking integrity makes a decision, the people affected are often wounded in the process. A lack of integrity leads to a life of negative impacts with the three main threats to integrity being cheating, lying, and plagiarizing. Cheating is universal, and it is very similar worldwide. According to the LA Times, Teachers say that hiding cheat sheets in socks, copying neighbors answers and scribbling notes on walls are the most common tactics. Test papers routinely are leaked as well, often by low level school employees who sell them for the equivalent of a few dollars, and sometimes by teachers or administrators whose professional standing rises if students perform well (Shashank Bengali 3). This shows that children were not only ones benefitting from cheating. The children themselves benefitted by passing the tests, but the others benefitted in monetary and social standings. Although children benefit immediately from cheating, there are negative impacts in the long run. In an article by Bengali, Madhukar Yadhav says, ...they are used to
  • 22. Puritan Flower Metaphors When asked about what they know of the Puritans, many people immediately mention their strict lifestyles. Puritans are mostly pictured wearing rigid black clothing and thumping their Bibles. However, Puritans were fascinatingly smart and creative people. Their writings, though mostly dedicated to God and his glory, contain beautiful scenes from nature and interesting metaphors. One common comparison that these writers make is that of comparing themselves to flowers. By looking closer at why and how this metaphor is commonly used, one could learn many things about the Puritans and their theology. In several Puritan poems, the authors refer to themselves, their children, or their grandchildren as flowers or trees. In Anne Bradstreet s poem In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If one were to think of humans as flowers in a garden, then that must make God the gardener. In both Anne Bradstreet s and Edward Taylor s poetry, they describe their little flowers being plucked or cropped by God s hand. In Taylor s poem Upon Wedlock, and Death of Children, he writes Lord take t. I thank Thee. Thou take st ought of mine: ( Wedlock 28). This may seem harsh to the modern reader, that God would forcefully take their children and grandchildren, and that they would then thank him for it. However, to the Puritans, this was common sense. This idea that God has a hand in and moves all things, it present in almost all of their writings. In Mary Rowlandson s captivity narrative, she thanks God for every good thing that happens to her, and every bad thing. She, like the other Puritans, believe that every event in their lives was enacted by God and served some purpose. In her instance, she believes that God was punishing her for not respecting the Sabbath day like she ought to have. Similarly, Anne Bradstreet believes that the death of her grandchild was directly enacted by God. She ends the poem with the lines And buds new blown to have so short a date,/ Is by His hand alone that guides nature and fate ( Memory I 13 14). If God decrees everything that happens, then that must mean that free will does not exist, that the human race is merely doing what God has made them do. Thus, the extended metaphor of humans as flowers makes even more sense. Flowers do not have a choice where they are planted or when they will be picked. It is entirely up to the

Shorter wavelengths are more likely to be scattered by the air molecules and the small particles, and so by the time the light has passed through the atmosphere, the longer wavelengths dominate. This resulting light we perceive as red. This is the same effect that causes sunsets and sunrises to turn the sky a reddish color; an alternative way of considering the problem is to realize that, as viewed from the Moon, the Sun would appear to be setting (or rising) behind the Earth. The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of dust or clouds in the atmosphere; this also controls how much light is scattered. In general, the dustier the atmosphere, the more that other wavelengths of light will be removed (compared to red light), leaving the resulting light a deeper red color. This causes the resulting coppery red hue of the Moon to vary from one eclipse to the next. Volcanoes are notable for expelling large quantities of dust into the atmosphere, and a large eruption shortly before an eclipse can have a large effect on the resulting color. This is an example of imagery in the story which is carried throughout the story (Bierce). When he finally awakes, he begins to see men crawling on their hands and feet toward him. This is one time his naГЇve ways get in the way. The narrator of the story says, Something in this something too, perhaps, in their grotesque attitudes and movements reminded him of the painted clown whom he had seen last summer in the circus, and he laughed as he watched them. • 43. Thomas Robert Malthus Essay Thomas Robert Malthus Thomas Robert Malthus is one of the most controversial figures in the history of economics. He achieved fame chiefly from the population doctrine that is now closely linked with his name. Contrary to the late eighteenth century views that it was possible to improve people s living standards, Malthus held that any such improvements would cause the population to grow and thereby reverse these gains. Malthus also sparked controversy with his contemporaries on issues of methodology (by arguing that economics should be an empirical rather than a deductive science), over questions of theory (by holding that economies can experience prolonged bouts of high unemployment), and on policy issues (by arguing against free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the controversies surrounding his principle of population, Malthus became embroiled in important debates with Ricardo over British Poor Laws and Corn Laws, the benefits of free trade, and the possibility of gluts or insufficient demand for goods. In mid eighteenth century England the industrial revolution was in full swing. However, workers lived near the level of physical subsistence, and their condition worsened in latter half of the eighteenth century. Monotony and repetition characterized factory work; the tyranny of the factory clock and the pace of the assembly line were beyond the control of all workers. The division of labor, praised by Adam Smith in The Wealth of Nations as the means to productivity growth and rising living standards, made work so routine that women and children could perform jobs just as easily as men. Business owners logically preferred such workers because they could be hired for less. These circumstances gave rise to numerous champions of the working class. Among the best known were the Marquis de Condorcet, Robert Owen and William Godwin. Condorcet (1795) argued that greater economic equality and more security for workers would improve their material well being. Toward this end he advocated two reforms a welfare system to provide security for the working poor, and government regulation of credit to keep down interest rates so that needy families could borrow money at lower cost. Owen attempted to develop

  • 46. Religion And Politics And Religion Religion and politics are two topics that should never be discussed. The reasoning behind this statement is because both are very controversial, especially religion. The term religion in itself does not have a proper definition because it varies based on what an individuals response the question of: what is religion? Throughout history, religions and belief systems have been associated with wars, persecution, diasporas, etc., which ultimately infers that religion is at the core of violence, hatred and exclusion. A main reason for these emotions of such negatively is due to the incapability of individuals to be understanding of the beliefs of others, and the ignorance that surrounds what religions consist of. The essence of religion is classified as faith, which ultimately leads to ignorance on the behalf of the one with faith and on society as a whole, due to lack of evidence and a preconceived notion to whom God truly is. Understanding religion means understanding the discrepancies within a majority of sacred scripture. The reason to specifically focus on scripture is due to it being the core of many religions, especially those that evolved from Abraham. According to Oxford Dictionaries, the term ignorance refers to: lack of knowledge or information. Alongside that definition the term faith means: strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. Every religion is about a lack of evidence to support certain

There are over 60 million people active smokers in this country (Faizal, 2012). In Jakarta, smokers are the kings. Go to any coffee shop or any other public place, really and you ll easily spot people smokingin a room that has an obvious no smoking sign (Barley, 2011). It will be no surprise if the non smokers are the minority in this city. Although horrifying impacts of smoking are clearly written on the cover of every cigarettepackages, it seems that the active smokers does not really care about the advertising, as the number of active smokers are very high. • 49. Essay about The poetry of Seamus Heaney is deceptively... The poetry of Seamus Heaney is deceptively simple. Examine this comment in the light of his choices of subject, diction, and structure. You should refer to at least two poems in your responses. The deceptive simplicity of the poet can be helped to be understood through P A M Dirac, who suggests that poetry tries to tell people in a way that is understood by no one, something everybody already knew. If you can comprehend this, it is easier to see how the poetry of Heaney can be called deceptively simple, the surface which appears to be the reminiscing of his youth, is misleading, in actuality it is hinting at something far more complex and explaining lessons of life that he learnt, that the reader may never grasps. One of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is possible that the deeper meaning to a Mid Term Break is that of coming to terms with the fact that it was not his fault that this pointless loss of young life occurred. He may have felt that if he had not been away at school his brother may never had died but the poet needs time (many years) to justify this and come to terms with his bereavement. A common point in each of the poems is that of the poets internal struggle to come to terms with himself, acceptance of himself as the person he is. This is clearly seen in Digging where he shows nothing but admiration for his father and the expertise needed to farm, which is highlighted by the use of technical terms such as lug . He finally concludes that his skill as a writer, a poet, is just as valued as that of a farmer and that in all likelihood his feelings of guilt at discarding tradition were not necessary and there was no need to believe he could not live up to expectations, he has accepted himself. Through Heaney s poetry we come to understand, that his ideas do not just relate to him, they relate to us as well, they show the connection between human lives. This is what William Carlos Williams calls the universality of the local . When you look deeper and scrutinize the poems they become more than just the memories of a man. Beyond the surface there are layers of meaning, complexity,

There are people who are against it, and would like to ban all pornography for the benefit of everyone, while there are those who defend it, claiming it is part of their guaranteed free speech, to express themselves in a manner of their choosing. With the issue of pornographybeing debated and spoken of, one major mistake people make is that they look at pornography according to their own views. Different types of people look at pornography differently, and therefore create their own definition of pornography in their minds. So the students were then allowed to look at the subject s breasts and ponder the importance of nude art as they made replicas of the woman in a graceful, artistic, position. The students probably submitted a signed note from their parents to be involved in the sculpture session, because I do not know of any public school that would allow its students to take part in this type of class during school hours, on school grounds. The woman s nudity is considered as art because she is posing for an art class, which was allowed by a public school, although I highly do not think that it would actually happen. Nude art s purpose is to portray the human body as an art form, and not an object of sexuality or arousal. Both pornography and erotica have the main purpose to sexually stimulate people, but pornography does not show the emotional connection between the individuals involved in the sexual acts, while erotica does. Erotica is just like nude art, except that erotica possesses no artistic value, and art does contain an artistic value that is accepted by everyone. There is a form of art called erotic art that I guess is a mixture of erotica and nude art. But if guidelines were to be set by the government, art forms that could be on the borderline of erotic art could be easier to distinguish. Pornography is not classified as nude art at all, and nude art is not pornography. Pornography just has the sole
