This document provides information about a student's first report card from the 3rd grade at Damascus School in the Wayne Highlands School District. It outlines the levels of achievement used to evaluate academics, reading, writing, math, science, learning strategies, and social development. Excellent, Good, Satisfactory and Needs Improvement are the levels used for most subjects. Specific skills assessed in each subject are described. The report also notes the schedule for parent-teacher conferences to discuss the student's progress.

7. Communication - Reading
All grades are based on your child’s work on his/her independent
reading levels in guided reading. Your child’s level may or may not be on grade level (see the check mark
at the top).
READS INDEPENDENTLY (Taken from the PA Standards)

Makes use of titles, headings, chapters, table of contents, glossaries.
Uses knowledge of phonics and spelling patterns to decode and understand new words.
