Inquiry Chart Discuss and list what you KNOW about a topic List what you WANT to know The chart will be processed as the unit progresses
Narrative Input Chart Story mural created by teacher Teacher tells a story and adds pictures in appropriate spots of the story Next day students put word cards or speech bubbles on mural as story is retold
Sentence Construction/Patterning Chart Work with parts of speech Key noun is identified  Sentences are built by adding adjectives before, a verb after, and prepositional phrases Sentences are sung to the tune of  “Farmer in the Dell”
Choral Reading/Response/Echo Teacher asks questions and students give answer as group Echo is having students repeat what teacher says
Pictorial Input Chart Teacher talks and sketches (over light outline) with marker to illustrate a new concept Key vocabulary words are added Questions are asked to engage students
Observation Chart Students observe pictures and write observations, comments or questions
Process Grids Use information learned in unit Categorize it on a chart Teacher provides headings
Cooperative Strip Paragraph Teacher writes topic sentence in black from a process grid Table groups come up with sentences that support it from the unit (wall charts) Teacher monitors to make sure ideas are different All contribute to the paragraph editing and revising as needed as a group
