Who Is Severus Snape A Hero
J.K. Rowling is widely known for her magical series, Harry Potter. Her creations of spells, use of mythical creatures, and the imaginary world she
was able to bring to life were all rather impressive, but the most intriguing aspect of her series was perhaps the characters she created. The
relationships and tension that existed between all of them gave such a great depth to the stories that it drew readers in and kept them on the edge
and wanting more. Of all of her characters, the most mysterious and interesting is seen by most to be Severus Snape. Through most of the series, the
main protagonists believed him to be the enemy, but his role was not quite as it seemed. Snape was a character that made readers question between
his status of good or evil. He constantly appeared the be in the wrong places at the right time when it came to danger and wrongdoing in Hogwarts.
This made the main protagonists coin him as an evil character from the get go. According to Rowling on her Pottermore, "Though his true allegiance
isn't known until later on in the series, the readers always seem to pick up on more than meets the eye with Snape" (Rowling). Though... Show more

His appearance and demeanor also have strict comparisons with the general description of the hero. Snape was always a very dark character in
actions, demeanor, and appearance. He had black, shoulder length hair that was constantly greasy, dark brown, almost black eyes, and an almost
constant scowl on his face. He dressed in all black and was almost like a shadow moving throughout the halls of Hogwarts. He was always withdrawn
and sought out ways to get others in trouble. This caused him to be a very lonely individual (VanderArk). According to Currie, Albus Dumbledore was
the only person in Hogwarts to truly trust Snape, which caused him to have very poor, but respectful relationships with his colleagues and peers

`` Religion : The Basics `` By Malory Nye And The...
While watching "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", many theories mentioned in Malory Nye's novel "Religion: The Basics" were subtly
included. The overall message of this film as well as particular scene will be analyzed to identify some of the theories, which would relate with this
film. Characters from the movie went through a rite of passage, a theory said by Arnold Van Gennep, the reductionist theory, the cognitive and
effective belief by Gombrich, and the Habitus theory by Pierre Bourdieu, were some of the theories identified in the film. When looking at these
particular events in the film, this film essentially underlies how religion can be in non–religious things, which would include movies.
In this film, Harry Potter experiences the three stages of the rite of passage by Arnold Van Gennep. In the first stage, separation, the participant is
identified to be symbolically departed from their old self, "the person is detached from the roles and obligations that have been associated with their
lives up until that time" (Nye 2008, 146). This stage begins for Harry when Rubeus Hagrid arrives at Harry's home and convinces Harry to attend the "
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry". Hagrid informs Harry about his family history, and gets Harry to comply when he says "Best be off".
After Harry realizes that he has the chance to get away from his abusive lifestyle, he leaves with Hagrid to attend Hogwarts. The second stage of
Gennep's theory is liminality. In this

Character Analysis Of Severus Snape In Harry Potter
.Snape: Character Analysis Severus Snape, a deviant, strict and a shady character with whom throughout the Harry Potter series kept the audience
second–guessing where his allegiance lied. In the 6th book of the series, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price, Snape's lineage was revealed. He was a
half–blood wizard born to Eileen Prince and Tobias Snape. Just like our series hero Harry Potter, Snape was raised in the Muggle (non–wizard people)
setting till the age of eleven when he received his letter of admission into Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was sorted into the
Slytherin house known for the house that has turned up the most dark and powerful wizards, including the villain of the series, Lord Voldemorthimself.

Snape was once a Death Eater and therefore implying his loyalty towards Lord Voldemort (Goblet of Fire). We know very little about the early life
of Snape making it easy to believe that Voldemort and his ideologies were something Snape greatly admired, ("Snape knew more curses when he
arrived to school then half of the kids in seventh year", according to Sirius Black). Snape had also invented a curse too, Sectumsempra (Half Blood
Prince), which is rare for a student. He demonstrated no qualms to use the word "mudblood" (a foul word used for the muggle born or the impure)
in the most derogatory sense (as Harry witness during his visit into Snape's worst memory in the Order of the Phoenix). He also fancied a
nickname for himself, The Half Blood Prince, highlighting his wizarding heritage. These small facts, when taken together, are indicative to the
reasons Snape may have chosen to become a Death Eater. His words and actions throughout the series indicate his need for power and respect, two
attributes that the wizarding world accords to the Dark Lord, which may have been the strongest reason behind his decision to be Voldemort's
follower and join the Death Eaters in his youth. Snape and Voldemort share the same tactic of intimidation through fear. However, the power and
respect accorded to Voldemort was also accorded The Great Dumbledore. Moreover Dumbledore could offer two things to Snape that Voldemort
could not and if could would not care to due to his selfish nature, and that is, unwavering trust and true friendship. Snape may have been Voldemort's
favourite but he shows distrust in Snape when he appoints Peter Pettigrew to be Snape's assistance in Spinners End (The Half Blood Prince). As for
friendship, it is doubtful that Voldemort is capable of such a thing, "Lord Voldemort has never had friends and nor has he ever wanted one" summaries

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince By J.k. Rowling
Book Summary Harry Potter and the Half–Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling is the sixth novel in the seven–part Harry Potter Series. Each novel primarily
details a year in the life of Harry Potter, the main character and protagonist, as he attends Hogwarts, a magic–focused school for witches and wizards,
while the seventh and final novel focuses on his experiences directly after. Half–Blood Prince describes Harry's sixth year and final year at Hogwarts.
In this chapter of the series, Harry continues with his studies in school, and grapples with the rapidly changing world around him. The overarching
plot of both the novel and series chronicles Harry existence as "The Boy Who Lived", a nickname bestowed upon him when he, as a baby, was the
only person to survive an attack from Lord Voldemort, an extremely powerful wizard who desires to rid the world of all non–magical people. During
this attack, Harry inexplicably was able to vanquish Voldemort, the main antagonist of the series. Voldemort's attempts to return from his dissolution
and finish his mission form the chief conflict and backdrop to Harry's adventures at Hogwarts. In Half–Blood Prince, Harry attempts to maintain his
routine life in the wake of Voldemort's return to power, unveiled in a battle that resulted in the deaths of several of Harry's friends. He is joined by
Hermoine and Ron, his two best friends, who accompany him throughout his journey. Hogwarts plays host to a variety of interesting, magical

"When I first saw Harry Potter and the Half–Blood Prince, I exited the theater with an excruciating headache, a lingering sense of emptiness and a very
strong desire to punch the film's cinematographer," (Ewing) which relates to the movie Harry Potter and the Half–Blood Prince which stars Daniel

a mysterious book which belongs to the Half–Blood Prince, and goes on a dangerous mission to save himself in the end. Also, Harry tries to attempt

All in all, the directing of the movie quite fantastic the way the critic, Peter Travers, reviews in his article. I approve this comment, "The sixth of
Rowling's book to be filmed is that it's an interim tease, all buildup and no release." Actually, Travers defends in his review by saying "like that's
bad," because the director of this movie, David Yates, did a great job on build up and release when the movie display a huge surprise to see "... bully...
Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), kill wise old Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon). And then there's slithery Severus Snape (the great Alan Rickman)
makes a deal to protect Draco." The movie presents Snape helping student, Draco Malfoy, destroy Professor Dumbledore and I applaud the director
in which the order of the action occurred. I agree with Travers that the director of this movie, David Yates, did a great job on build up and release
when the movie displays the action towards the end of the movie. "What makes Half–Blood Prince top–tier is the descent of darkness on the lives of
characters" and setting of the movie, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which creates that dark sneaky feeling you feel when you see the
movie. Instead of Hogwarts been that cheery type of school, in the movie you will see the halls mostly gloomy, bare, and deserted. One of the main
points of this movie is "getting lost in the hypnotic Half–Blood Prince (and) its haunting power" the Harry Potter fans craves

Severus Snape 's Story And The Side He Actually A Person...
Severus Snape is shown to be a person who is not just a strict teacher but also cold towards most people. As the story evolves, we learn Snape's story
and the side he actually is on. Professor Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 – 2 May, 1998) was a half–blood wizard who was the son of the witch Eileen
Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. James Potter: James and his group of friends were constantly at war with Severus throughout their school years.
Severus 's memories, recorded in the Pensieve, suggest that he was an introverted and studious individual, whereas James was arrogant, popular, and
athletic. Immediately upon meeting him, James disliked Severus for expressing a desire to be in Slytherin. James 's big crush on Lily, and Severus 's
close friendship and unrequited love for her also heightened the tension between the two. One recorded memory in the Pensieve bears witness to James
bullying him, turning him upside–down to reveal his underwear in front of many students, including Lily. Lily came to Severus 's defence, but this
only made things worse: in a subsequent lashing out at James in an attempt to recover his lost dignity, Severus inadvertently called Lily a
Mudblood. Lily refused to forgive him for it, even after his repeated apologies. This would forever be Severus 's worst memory as it was seen by
Harry whilst in the Pensieve. Severus noticed that Remus kept disappearing during the full moon and once followed him past the Whomping Willow

The other role Alan's best known for is Severus Snape in Harry Potter. It's the Harry Potter films that made Alan known to the younger generation.
Just like Hans Gruber and the Sheriff of Nottingham, Alan was reluctant to take the role of Snape. When Alan was offered the role he said to
Chris Columbus, "If i'm going to play him, i'll need to know more about." Rickman had a conversation with Rowling about his character and she
gave him a very small piece of information about Snape and he never told anybody what it was. Director David Heyman knew that Alan had been
given key information and he admits, "There were times when a director would tell Alan what to do in a scene and he would say "No, I can't do
that." Heyman said, "Looking back, you can see there was always more going on in Rickman's performance – a look, an expression, a sentiment – that

Prologue
Once there was a wizard called Severus Snape. He was tall and lanky, and his black greasy hair hung like curtains around his face. He grew up as a
half–blood wizard in an unhappy family, but found solace in a witch called Lily Evans, a childhood friend. Snape loved Lily deeply: through their
years at Hogwarts; through her marriage to another wizard, James Potter; through his time as a Death Eater; and long after her murder at the wand of
Lord Voldemort. After her death, a heartbroken Snape took up a position at Hogwarts as Potions Master (under Dumbledore 's protection), and began
his secret mission to keep safe the only thing that he had left of her: her son, a boy with his mother 's eyes.

The unwelcome reunion occured when Potter's old friend Remus Lupin secured Snape's dream job of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. As
Potions master, Snape kindly helped out Lupin – a werewolf. Of course, when he had to take over Lupin's lesson, he may have accidentally taught his
class how to spot a werewolf, but that was a complete coincidence.
Meanwhile, Sirius Black had escaped from Azkaban and is after Harry Potter. Not forgetting their years at Hogwarts, Snape wasted no time in trying
to bring Black to justice when he came to the school. Towards the end of the year, Snape finally caught him in the Shrieking Shack. Once there
Snape was hailed as a hero by Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, who promised that he would be duly rewarded. The Order of Merlin! A profile in

Severus Snape Tragic Hero
Severus Snape was the wizard that wore all black, he taught the Defense against the Black Arts, he seemed to hate Harry Potter, and gave a creepy
vibe wherever he went. Even though he is not one of the main characters, he is an important character in the Harry Potter story. It may looked like
Snape despised Harry but he went deeper and further than anyone else trying to protect him, sacrificing a chance to be close to his beloved Lilly's
son, who hated him, in order to save his life. Looking through his story, in our eyes we saw him as a tragic hero.
Severus Snape was born a wizard, which is something that not many people can become. Royalty is at a place that normal people cannot reach, same
thing with magic. One cannot become royalty if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had to see the girl he loved the most marry the man he hated the most, had to see her die at the hands of the antagonist, Voldemort. The death is
constantly relieved everytime he sees Voldemort's face, making it a mental wound for him. Physical pain would be when he was being bitten
multiple times by Nagini, a huge viper, when Voldemort decides to dispose of a pawn whose use is over. He is also forced to kill Dumbledore, who
he gave his loyalty to because he promised to do anything whatever he said. This emotionally scarred him as he had to kill his ally and the guilt began
to build up inside and hurt him. Snape suffers more than he deserves when he sees Harry Potter because his eyes resemble his mothers. Snape held no
responsibility of his actions because of his flaw, he worked for Voldemort and working for Voldemort led to his downfall. With these fancy titles
that Snape has, he has imperfections like fighting for someone you love. He loved Lily but he couldn't fight for her and therefore lost her to James.
Snape's downfall causes pity from the audience. We feel pity as the woman that he loves is taken away by the man that bullied him. Furthermore, he
had to see the woman he loved cold and dead, long gone. Then he was forced to play double agent and risk his life in

Analysis Of The Book ' The Devil ' By Harry Potter
Snakes have been seen as a symbol of hatred and evil since the beginning of time. The devil came to Adam and Eve as a snake when he was trying to
get them to eat the forbidden fruit. Snakes play a very important role in the Harry potter series and without them, the series would not be complete.
Everything revolves around snakes in this story, Slytherin, Voldemort snakes that is one of the horcruxes which is very special, and Voldemort himself
he looks like a snake. "While the serpents in the Harry Potter series play a significant role in the text, it is not their life‐affirming characteristics that
are highlighted but their negative associations with death and destruction via their involvement with Rowling's malicious villains (Berner & Millman
69)" This quote helps to further explain the reasoning behind the whole world thinking that Slytherin has and will always be bad. The four main
reasons as to why the audience thinks that Slytherin is always bad are that all Slytherins are evil, Slytherin can't be brave, Slytherins only care about
money and the Slytherin house does not work with the rest of the houses in Hogwarts.
All Slytherin are evil is almost like saying that all muslims are terrorists. It's not true. A lot of people like to think that they are evil because it is
thought that Harry needed to have a foil or someone to fight against throughout the series, which turns out to be Draco Malfoy. One person really helps
determine if Slytherin is bad or not,

Aristotle 's Article On The Naked Eye
What is it about us humans that crave the insight of another person's life? An even better question, how do we know when someone's life is
interesting enough to want to pay attention to it? Aristotle obviously had his ideas in his essay "Poetics", writing about the Protagonist and the
Antagonist and how the two will come together to create a story that will serve as entertainment for the masses. To put it in simpler terms you can turn
to Bill Yates, a former broadcast and now associate professor and chair of the communications department, who also teaches Movies in America says,
"If you can engage a person...then it is a great film."– (Bill Yates) Based off of both descriptions my choice of film would have to be theHarry Potter
series. To the naked eyeHarry Potter is just a story about magic and unthinkable evil that nobody would dare to even think to be possible, but that is
merely scratching the surface of the deeper meaning of the entire plot. There are many ways you can apply Aristotle's concept to the eight movie
franchise of Harry Potter, but we will stick with the basic concept: Albus Dumbledore is a protagonist, Tom Riddle is an antagonist, andSeverus Snape
is both a protagonist and antagonist. Albus Dumbledore would fit Aristotle's ideal view of a protagonist because he starts high and ends low, he gains
fear and pity from the audience, and he is pushed by an antagonist. In Harry Potter a war rages on for over twenty years about the "cleansing" of the
wizard

Analysis Of ' The Prince '
Not by coincidence, JK Rowling nicknamed her most complex, morally ambiguous Harry Potter character "The Prince". Severus Snape's royal epithet
has more than a little in common with Machiavelli's The Prince, which Rowling, as a student of Classics and Literature surely read. To be
Machiavellian, one must be "cunning, scheming and unscrupulous," (OED) and those who belong to Snape's Hogwarts House of Slytherin are "cunning
folks [who] use any means / to achieve their ends" (Rowling, Philosopher's Stone, 88). Even firmer parallels are drawn between Severus Snape and
Machiavelli's Prince as the texts continue.
Severus Snape is not a likable man. Whether or not he is morally good or evil keeps most if not all witches and wizards in his vicinity questioning
whether or not he is truly on their side. Harry and his friends spend nearly their entire educational careers trying to reveal Snape as working for
Voldemort, and even one of his fellow elite Death Eater's expresses her distrust of him after eighteen years of working together. "I don't trust you
Snape, as you very well know" Bellatrix Lestrange, Voldemort's most prized confidant tells him in the dead of night (Rowling, Half Blood Prince, 30).
Snape accepts the Machiavellian attitude that "how men live is so different from how they should live that a ruler who does not do what is generally
done, but persists in doing what ought to be done, will undermine his power rather than maintain it" (Machiavelli, 54). For this reason,

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallow Essay
Tell the truth! Every person has made this remark. Realistically, each person has their own perception of truth. Truth defined according to Webster
Dictionary as that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality. Based on knowledge of the person at that specific time, truth is defined; therefore,
truth may vary for different people. Throughout Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow, the characters Albus Dumbledore,Severus Snape, and Harry
Potter attend to truth. In the novel, Albus Dumbledore has his own way of defining truth. Dumbledore sees truth through the big picture. He shares
enough knowledge to give hints about how to find the truth, but not enough information to state the truth. In the novel, Minister for Magic Rufus
Scrimgeour personally delivers Dumbledore's bequests to Harry, Ron and Hermione. This is very unusual for him to come in person. Dumbledore
left Ron a deluminator, Hermione the Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Harry a snitch and the sword of Gryffindor (which was not his to give).
Scrimgeous then questions each about the importance of each object. The Ministry of Magic is especially suspicious why this amazing wizard left the
objects for these three students out of everyone. What the Ministry of Magic or these three did not know at the time was each had a hint that would

Severus Snape Hero Essay
What is a hero?
What is a hero? According to Merriam Webster, a hero is defined as: "person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities." While that may
be the typical definition, there are many variations of the term, such as: the classic hero, the tragic hero, the epic hero, and the anti–hero. Of these four
types of heroes, Severus Snape can be easily classified as an anti–hero, however, when Snape's history is taken into account, it can be inferred that he is
a tragic hero as well. This controversial potions professor was initially portrayed as a bully with "greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow
skin" yet he serves a crucial role in the Harry Potter series because of the complex journey into heroism.Snape was one of the bravest men in the
wizarding world due to his eternal love for Lily, his selfless protection of Harry, and his infiltration of the Death Eaters. These qualities are some of the
many things that make Snape a true hero.
One of Snape's notable heroic attributes is how he acted as a guardian for the students of Hogwarts throughout the entire series. In Harry Potter and the
Half–Blood Prince Snape protects Draco Malfoy from murdering someone to avoid mentally scarring himself. When Draco is ordered to kill

Theme Of Family In Harry Potter
Harry Potter becomes an orphan in the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. His lack of family is a major theme and topic throughout
the entire Harry Potter series. However, an equally important topic is about the people who become his surrogate family. There are many characters
that Harry considers family in the series, but two of the most important and overlooked parental figures have been around since the beginning of the
series. Professors Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape have both acted like parents to Harry during his time at Hogwarts, but the two teachers

Analysis Of The Book ' Snape Is A Fictional Character ' J....
Severus Snape is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling 's Harry Potter series. He is characterised as a person of great complexity, whose coldly
sarcastic and controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish. In the first novel of the series, Snape is a teacher who is hostile from the start
toward Harry. As the series progresses, Snape 's character becomes more layered and enigmatic. Rowling does not fully reveal the details of his true
loyalties until the end of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Over the course of the series, Snape 's portrayal evolves from that of a
malicious and partisan teacher to that of a character of considerable intricacy and moral ambiguity. Although he continuously tried to protect the
woman he loved and then later on, the son of the given woman, he was misunderstood by many. He gave a lot of things up in order to protect Lily and
Harry Potter but everybody just assumed that he belonged to the dark side because of his cold exterior. Often misunderstood and settling in situations
are common for Severus Snape.

Over the course of this semester I have completed most of the Harry Potter Series. I have Noticed a certain theme to all the books. Severus Snape is
never really identified as a hero, or as a heel. Through all the books he is performs acts or cruelty and redeems himself with acts of kindness. He does it
in a vise versa manner as well. It's hard for the reader to out their finger, or their perspective on Severus Snape. The reader is basically on a rollercoaster
ride with Snape.
In the sorcerer 's stone, when Harry is partaking in the quittage match between Gryffindor and Slythern, Harry's Broom goes rouge on him.
Hermione and Ron believe Snape is casting a spell on harry causing The Broom to have a falling out. They Later find out that it is professor
Quirrell who preforming this spell on Harry's broom, and Snape is really trying to protect Harry. They are also led to Believe that Snape was the
thief of the sorcerer 's stone. In this book we get the sense that Snape is a Shady character, but in the end just a shady character
In the second book we get a taste of how Snape and be mean to students when Harry and Ron arrive in the Flying Car. Snape becomes upset and want
to expel Harry and Ron from Hogwarts. He makes the Remark "the train isn 't good enough for the fames Harry Potter and his faithful sidekick Wesley.
Wanted to arrive with a bang, did we, boys?" – Snape (Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets) In the Chamber of Secrets we find out that Snape is really

Themes Of Percy Jacksonson And 'Harry Potter And The...
Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian and J.K Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are both fantasy adventure novels set
in modern times. Cultural, literary, and historic references are found throughout both novels which create appeal for older readers, however, both
novels are more targeted towards adolescents' due to the inclusion of adolescent protagonists, pop culture references, and easily understood modern
language. Both authors convey very similar ideas, in that, the fear of death can lead to a desire to defeat it, but this is always a fruitless goal. In both
texts, Riordan and Rowling convey the idea that their characters as in real life are more complex than they originally appear and their behaviour
throughout the texts can often be explained by their past experiences. Additionally, another idea which is depicted is that a key struggle faced in life is
the choice between acting in one's self–interest or for the interest of others and for the greater good. The authors in their texts both use varying
techniques, such as characters, dialogue, and symbolism to establish these ideas and shape their audience's response. Both texts explore the idea that
those who fear death may try to fight it; however, this is a fruitless goal. This is explored through Riordan's character Kronos who wishes to conquer
death and achieve true omnipotence. This is illustrated through Dionysus' words to Percy Jackson when warning him of future events, 'Kronos would be

Severus Snape Hero
Can you imagine sacrificing your life to protect someone you hate? What about destroying your own life, so much so that you become hated and
misjudged just so you can defeat someone. Someone who has killed the girl who you loved all this time, but she never loved you back. This character
who I am describing is such an underrated hero. Who is this? Severus Snape, from the Harry Potter series. Snape is by far, the best YA hero. He is
loyal to others, selfless, and his failures only make him stronger.
To start, a good hero must be loyal to others. Snape is a perfect example of that. From the day that James and Lily Potter were tragically murdered,
Snape had to live a double life. He had to constantly lie to Voldemort and the other Death Eaters, to protect Harry Potter, even though he despised him.
Snape was so good at lying, Voldemort valued his opinion much higher than other Death Eaters who weren't lying. Voldemort can sense when his
"followers" are lying to him. He couldn't even tell that Snape was! Snape was also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like I have said before, Snape lived a double life. He completely destroyed and ruined his life. This was so that Harry would live a long and prosperous
life, and not fall to He–Who–Must–Not–Be–Named. Though he hated Harry for some reason or other, he kept his word to Dumbledore and his own
reasons to protect Harry lead him to sacrifice his life. The reason why Snape is this way is simply that he grew up in a difficult situation. He was
the butt of most jokes. Being so unliked, he went on the wrong path. The girl he loved never loved him back and he also had to watch over the son
of his dead lover. Snape came out of this very independent and a yearning to be selfless. This is the reason why he was so motivated to protect Harry.
When Snape heard that Harry is just bait for Voldemort, he almost broke down crying. Snape is truly the essence of what a hero should

Character Analysis Of Snape
Snape: Character Analysis
Severus Snape, a deviant, shady and a strict character with whom throughout the Harry Potter series kept the audience second–guessing where his
allegiance laid. In the 6th book of the series, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price, Snape's lineage was revealed. He was a half–blood born to Eileen
Prince and Tobias Snape. Just like our series heroHarry Potter, Snape was raised in the Muggle (non–wizard people) setting till the age of eleven when
he received his letter of admission into Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was sorted into the Slytherin house known for the house that
has turned up the most dark and powerful wizards, including the villain of the series, Lord Voldemort himself. During his time as a student in

this easily – weak people, in other words – they stand no chance against his powers! He will penetrate your mind with absurd ease, Potter!". One can
see the level of concern for Snape towards Harry which is due to his commitment to his deceased love, Lilly Potter, Harry's mother. The realSeverus
Snape is beginning to surface from the inside.
In the finale of the series, 7th book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows we see where Snape's true loyalties lie. In the shrieking shack scene, where
Snape is fatally wounded by the snakebite of Nagini, Lord Voldemort's faithful companion. Harry comes to the wounded Snape where he collects

The story events take place England, in Hogwarts school and The Department Of Ministry. King's Cross Station is where most events took place

A character in the book who showed the most bravery and potential would have to be Albus Severus Potter, who isHarry Potter's younger son who got
in the Slytherin house. Albus in the story didn't accomplish the goals his father did in school but instead he became his own person and followed
his own goals instead of his father's and his goal was to go back in time and bring back Cedric Diggory, and he had the idea of going into the
Ministry and getting the time turner which takes a lot of courage. Albus severus Potter is defined as the protagonist of the story because of his action
to go back in time and save Amos Diggory's son who was murdered by Lord Voldemort in the Triwizard Tournament in the third task. Though Albus is
a very a brave and intelligent young man he was also a real social outcast due to the fact that he was the great Harry Potter's son in slytherin and he also
did not get along with his father very well. There was even times where he wished that Harry wasn't his father, and does not really communicate
much with other students at school except his best friend Scorpius Malfoy, who he loves dearly. Albus overhead something he was not suppose to

The Goblet Of Fire, By Severus Snape
Severus Snape. The ex–potions professor at Hogwarts is viewed as a hero from most fans of Harry Potter––he died to save the wizarding world, and he
was in love with Lily Potter, so he's obviously a saint, right? Wrong! Snape was nothing more than a whiny, greedy, self
–absorbed tyrant that had
nothing better to do than to bully his own students.
Severus Snape was abusive towards his students and peers. In the fourth book, the Goblet of Fire, Draco hexed Hermione––which forced her teeth to

Severus Snape Essay
If there was a single literary character that I so vehemently vilified throughout my entire childhood, it would be Severus Snape. Through the eyes
of a young, and perhaps ignorant Harry Potter, I saw him as a grungy, cruel, and despicable enemy, incapable of kindness or love. My hatred for
Snape reached its climax when he murdered Dumbledore in seemingly cold blood. And yet, by the closing of the series, I recognized Severus
Snape as one of Harry's most powerful allies, in one of the greatest plot twists of all time. What transfiguration spell did J.K. Rowling use to change
Snape from a foe to a friend? The answer lies in love, true love that transcends beyond a single individual to a love of goodness itself. Harry
identified Snape as an enemy early on, an assumption that was not completely unfounded. After all, Snape was quick to punish Harry at every turn,
even going as far as to lobby for Harry's expulsion in The Chamber of Secrets. To make matters worse, Snape's zeal for Harry's suffering existed for
seemingly no reason. But at the time of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can love have any transformative strength if the enemy never truly existed? The answer to this is that Snape had the potential to be an enemy to
Harry, but through Snape's unrelenting love for Lily–and ultimately, the good–Snape irreversibly switched his path from one of darkness, to one of
light. After all, Snape was on track to be quite a nasty character, with his placement into Slytherin, his sense of blood superiority, and ultimately, his
desire to follow Voldemort. However, after becoming enamored with Lily and her goodness, Snape was able to see through the seduction of evil, and
fundamentally alter his purpose in life in order to protect the greater good. Throughout these novels, protecting the greater good translated to protecting
Harry Potter. In this sense, love has the preemptive power to change an enemy into a

Who Is Severus Snape In Harry Potter?
Harry Potter is one of most well–known wizards of all time–perhaps better–known than Gandalf the Grey himself–and even more so is Harry's
eponymous story, a seven–part novel series by the illustrious J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter's readers have never seriously questioned where Harry's
loyalties lie, despite his Parseltongue tendencies and connection to the Dark Lord; fans' suspicions have always lain with the other members of the
wild, unique, and unforgettable cast of characters that the novels sport. One such ambiguous character is Severus Snape, a man with dubious motives
who always wanted to be a little more than just the potions master. From the very beginning, Snape was cast antagonistically: his glaringly obvious
favoritism for his house and uncalled for bullying of his students such as Harry and Neville exemplified his far–from–professional approach to
teaching, and, in fact, it likely would have had him removed from any educational establishment today. He also joined the Death Eaters–as if the name
itself doesn't sound bad enough–they were basically a group equivalent to the KKK and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." Snape was a truly capable wizard who made good and bad choices.
Even though there was a lot of confusion and obscure motives behind his decisions, his choices ultimately helped the good guys finally defeat the
baddies. The truth is that everyone has shortcomings that make one unique and different, and these foibles are not inherently condemnatory and
irredeemable. A balance of strengths and weaknesses flesh out and personify otherwise static, flat characters, capturing a more real and lifelike
perspective towards characters that only breathe between the pages of works of fiction. Snape's flaws didn't make him a villain nor did they make him

Analysis Of Severus Snape
Severus Snape is one of the most beloved, and yet most despised, characters in the history of literature. Appearing in the famed novel and movie
series, Harry Potter, Snape has touched, warmed, and broken people's hearts since the summer of 1997. When readers first met Snape in Harry Potter
and the Philosopher's Stone, he was hated and feared as the "teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin." However, it is not until
the series nears its end in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, that the readers learn that Severus Snape was cruel and brutal for many reasons. One
of the most controversial topics in literature is whether Snape was a villain or a hero. In agreement with the latter, I believe that Snape was a hero
because he was selfless and brave. Severus Snape, although appearing ghastly and gruesome, was extremely selfless. The way he treated Harry Potter
and a number of other students made him hated and disliked by many. Snape, a strict and feared teacher, appeared to be a very unpleasant person.
However, not everything is what it seems. Behind the monster, was a selfless man who would do anything for love. In Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows, the readers learn that Snape did everything in his power to shield Harry from Lord Voldemort. After his death on the second of May in
1998, Snape's memories were transported via tear yo the Pensieve, which animates one's memories. His memories revealed that he loved Harry Potter's
mother, Lily. He and Lily

Comparing Rowling's Novels, And The True Snape
Love has been told to have the power to change a man's demeanor, shift a person's values, and create façades that can hide or affirm the love that
person feels. The word façade is most commonly used in regards to architecture, which defines it as an outward appearance or the face of a
building, but it has also come to be tied to the psychology of an individual. A façade in regards to psychology is associated with an outer falsehood
that conceals an internal element of the individual, which they do not want visible. Often they maintain the façade in order to be more appealing to
the person they are affectionate towards. However, love's influence in the creation and maintaining of the façade means far more than just trying to be

His name itself lends to the idea of him being a difficult teacher. According to Behind the Name, Severus translates to "stern" in Latin, and is tied to
the English word "severe" ("Severus") and according to the Online Etymology Dictionary, Snape is also an English verb, which means "to be hard
upon, rebuke, revile, snub" ("Snape"). While his name sends out a warning about what to expect from his character, in later books, it is revealed that
Snape himself was the object of various bullying campaigns. In Harry Potter and the Order and the Phoenix, Snape's worst memory is brought to light
as he is bullied by James Potter and his gang of friends. He is outnumbered and alone, and he did not ask to be tormented by James Potter. When he
finally does not have to stand alone in the face of his bullies, he in turn becomes the bully to Lily Evans, who had wanted to save him. The most
stark words that come from this section is this: "'What's he done to you?' 'Well... it's more the fact that he exists, if you know what I mean'" (647).
He suffered at the hands of his peers and that warped his understanding of what was acceptable treatment of other people. This becomes an essential
part of his façade, a way to hide his past and guard his future from any further hurt. His harsh nature is part of him and it is one of the ways readers

The Astronomy Tower was the tallest point in all of the castle. It towered over everything, including the tall bristling pine trees that clustered together
to make up the Forbidden Forest. Hagrid's hut was miniscule from this height, and the cool crisp wind blew violently as he stood at the very edge. He
was barefoot, and his toes hung over dangerously as his hair continued to whip around him. It ruffled his Hogwarts robes as he tilted forward, and gazed
down into the black abyss.
His heart thumped so fast and loud that he could feel it in his ears, a strange throbbing took him over as he realized that he could do it. It would be

it made him feel suddenly alive.
The pulsing in his body grew, and it was so loud and vibrating, and finally.
Finally, Harry let go.
As he began to fall away from the tower, his heels rocking backwards until the stone under his feet vanished, and then before the rising of his heart
could reach a whole new crescendo someone's hand grabbed his wrist, and his emerald eyes snapped open.
He was staring into fearful onyx eyes, the grip on his wrist and hand was tight.

Severus Snape glared as he dipped down on one knee, holding the light weight wizard who had nearly fallen to his death, and with unseen strength, the

Forrest Gump Dynamic Character
Character – A person, animal, or creature that takes part in the action of a story, play, or other literary work. Forrest Gump played by Tom Hanks is
one of my favorite all time characters. I chose for stomp as my choice to illustrate the elements of character because he is the main character that takes
part in the whole action of the story. Forrest Gump is child like, and innocent. His heart warming outlook on life is inspiring. Forest Gumps naГЇve
way of thinking enables him to have no prejudice against minorities, foreigners or different religious beliefs.

Forrest despite his mental and physical handicaps.
Dynamic – changes as a result of the story's events. Severus Snape is a good example as a dynamic character in Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling's he
is always changing and a surprise of being good and/or evil. I chose Snape as a perfect example to illustrate a dynamic character because throughout
the book he changes a lot. He is hard and horrible professor and then he becomes the good guy that protects and saves Harry Potter.
Stereotypical (stock) – a character that falls into a stereotype. For example, the 'clueless blonde' The Breakfast Club movie shows the dumb jock, the

How Does Severus Snape Change In Harry Potter
Over the course of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, the portrayal of potions master Severus Snape changes. Starting out as a strict and
generally mean teacher, he evolves into a character with a significant background and has many complex layers. Readers see him in the Sorcerer's

reason for him to not like Harry, and readers even start to sympathize with him. Because of his character development, and how he is perceived,
Severus Snape has been regarded as one of the best written antiheros in modern literature. Even though he starts off as a negative character, readers are

Phoenix. He's a member of the secret society, and it makes Harry question why he's part of it and why Albus Dumbledore trusts him. Harry
believes he's only interested in the Dark Arts and is also not told everything, not allowing readers to know everything either. When Snape is given
the job of teaching Harry Occlumency, something that could cut the connection between the young teen and the series' villain, Lord Voldemort, he
is extremely unpleasant and rude. When he explains that he must give Harry lessons, there is a tone of bitterness and evident hatred of Sirius

Analysis Of The Book ' Severus Snape '
1: Character of Severus Snape
Severus Snape is shown to be a person who is not just a strict teacher but also cold towards most people. As the story evolves, we learn Snape's story
and the side he actually is on. Professor Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 – 2 May, 1998) was a half–blood wizard who was the son of the witch Eileen
Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. Severus was made a member of the Slug Club, presumably because of his brilliance at potion–making, and Horace
Slughorn kept a picture of him as a student, clutching his copy of Advanced Potion–Making. Despite this, Horace did not have many hopes for Severus
's future, as his photograph was kept behind many others. Shortly before Lily Evans was murdered by Lord Voldemort, Snape changed sides and
became a member of the Order of the Phoenix and double agent during the Second Wizarding War. With tremendous difficulty, Snape prevented Lord
Voldemort from learning the truth about his loyalties. Despite the opinions of most others including Harry during his early life, Albus Dumbledore
trusted Snape for reasons that were kept between them both until their deaths. When he died, it was revealed that his deep strong love for Lily Evans
caused him to redeem himself, joining Dumbledore 's cause at the prospect of her protection (and, after her death, that of her son) from Lord Voldemort.

`` Heart Grow Fond Of Them `` By J. K. Rowling
Fictional characters, if well–written, make the readers' heart grow fond of them. One of the most talked characters in the Harry Potter series by J. K
Rowling is Severus Snape. The readers get mixed feeling about the character through all the series, and it is not until the end that the truth is revealed.
There have been a lot of arguments about this character after the ending of the series. Did Snape die for love? Who was Severus Snape? The complexity
of Severus Snape's character makes it hard to understand his role/personality on the Harry Potter series. While he is misconceived as a hero, it is
evident that he is a hateful antihero looking for the forgiveness of his dead lover.
Through the series, Rowling makes the readers wonder the true role of the complex Severus Snape. Rowling describes Snape as, "a thin man with
sallow skin, a hooked nose and greasy, shoulder–length black hair" (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 78). Since the first moment he appears,
it is clear all the students fear him for justify reasons. The aura surrounding Snape is pure evil. He makes fun of everybody that is not part of his
school house, Slytherin. He takes advantages of the power he has as a professor to bring students down. Critics can accurately describe the character
with no problem, "Snape is an oily, petty, nasty, vindictive man not with a heart of gold but of pure malice. To Harry particularly, he is a sinister and
malicious teacher making frequent disparaging, snide remark"

Both men are incredibly interesting to read about, and in doing so, I have compiled a few key similarities and differences between them. Ask anyone:
Who, in their opinion, is the best fictional character ever written? You will surely get an array of different answers. People value different things in
heroes. However, I believe there are a few notable personality traits that most everyone can agree make fictional characters truly outstanding. I believe
Severus Snape and
Sydney Carton are universally good characters. Some may believe it is foolish to compare a timeless and classic novel to a modern story of wizards
and magic. Many people dismiss the
Harry Potter series entirely, deeming it childish. However, both of these stories have beautifully written characters that I hold dear to my heart. Sure,
at first, it is understandable and easy to assume that they are cold, distant, and unlikeable, yet throughout their stories they both prove to be
exceedingly clever and brave men who have a great capacity to love and sacrifice. Severus Snape, from the Harry Potter series was, for the most part
throughout the books, considered to be a villain. He was the "mean" professor who often showed favoritism to his own house, Slytherin. Before he got
a position teaching at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he was a death eater. A death

Harry Potter 's Life Has Been Influenced By The Choices Of...
Since the beginning of the series, Harry Potter's life has been influenced by the choices of Albus Dumbledore. Everything that has happened to
Harry has occurred because of Dumbledore, but does that make him purely Dumbledore's boy or is he his own person with agency to do as he
wants? After Voldemort murdered Harry's parents, Dumbledore decided to bring baby Harry to his aunt and uncles because "they're the only
family he has left now," and he feels "it's the best place for him" (Sorcerer's Stone). Dumbledore is the one that decided to send him to his relatives
that underfed him, gave him only a closet, hand me down clothes, become their servant, and be bullied by his cousin Dudley. Later we learn
Dumbledore sent him there because of the protection of his family since his aunt was his mother's sister. The protection meant if Voldemort came
back and tried to attack Harry in his aunt and uncle's home he wouldn't be able to touch Harry there, but that doesn't justify the actions of his aunt
and uncle. For eleven years, Harry was left in the dark about his parents and magic. Dumbledore was the first person to ever show Harry any sort of
positive emotion or caring attribute, which could lead to Harry becoming the servant of Dumbledore. In the Sorcerer's stone, Dumbledore gave Harry
the invisibility cloak. He left it with a note saying, "your father left this in my possession before he died. Use it well" (Sorcerer's Stone). Dumbledore
giving Harry the cloak is crucial to the

Who Is Severus Snape A Hero

  • 1. Who Is Severus Snape A Hero J.K. Rowling is widely known for her magical series, Harry Potter. Her creations of spells, use of mythical creatures, and the imaginary world she was able to bring to life were all rather impressive, but the most intriguing aspect of her series was perhaps the characters she created. The relationships and tension that existed between all of them gave such a great depth to the stories that it drew readers in and kept them on the edge and wanting more. Of all of her characters, the most mysterious and interesting is seen by most to be Severus Snape. Through most of the series, the main protagonists believed him to be the enemy, but his role was not quite as it seemed. Snape was a character that made readers question between his status of good or evil. He constantly appeared the be in the wrong places at the right time when it came to danger and wrongdoing in Hogwarts. This made the main protagonists coin him as an evil character from the get go. According to Rowling on her Pottermore, "Though his true allegiance isn't known until later on in the series, the readers always seem to pick up on more than meets the eye with Snape" (Rowling). Though... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His appearance and demeanor also have strict comparisons with the general description of the hero. Snape was always a very dark character in actions, demeanor, and appearance. He had black, shoulder length hair that was constantly greasy, dark brown, almost black eyes, and an almost constant scowl on his face. He dressed in all black and was almost like a shadow moving throughout the halls of Hogwarts. He was always withdrawn and sought out ways to get others in trouble. This caused him to be a very lonely individual (VanderArk). According to Currie, Albus Dumbledore was the only person in Hogwarts to truly trust Snape, which caused him to have very poor, but respectful relationships with his colleagues and peers ... • 2. `` Religion : The Basics `` By Malory Nye And The... While watching "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", many theories mentioned in Malory Nye's novel "Religion: The Basics" were subtly included. The overall message of this film as well as particular scene will be analyzed to identify some of the theories, which would relate with this film. Characters from the movie went through a rite of passage, a theory said by Arnold Van Gennep, the reductionist theory, the cognitive and effective belief by Gombrich, and the Habitus theory by Pierre Bourdieu, were some of the theories identified in the film. When looking at these particular events in the film, this film essentially underlies how religion can be in non–religious things, which would include movies. In this film, Harry Potter experiences the three stages of the rite of passage by Arnold Van Gennep. In the first stage, separation, the participant is identified to be symbolically departed from their old self, "the person is detached from the roles and obligations that have been associated with their lives up until that time" (Nye 2008, 146). This stage begins for Harry when Rubeus Hagrid arrives at Harry's home and convinces Harry to attend the " Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry". Hagrid informs Harry about his family history, and gets Harry to comply when he says "Best be off". After Harry realizes that he has the chance to get away from his abusive lifestyle, he leaves with Hagrid to attend Hogwarts. The second stage of Gennep's theory is liminality. In this ... • 3. Character Analysis Of Severus Snape In Harry Potter .Snape: Character Analysis Severus Snape, a deviant, strict and a shady character with whom throughout the Harry Potter series kept the audience second–guessing where his allegiance lied. In the 6th book of the series, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price, Snape's lineage was revealed. He was a half–blood wizard born to Eileen Prince and Tobias Snape. Just like our series hero Harry Potter, Snape was raised in the Muggle (non–wizard people) setting till the age of eleven when he received his letter of admission into Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was sorted into the Slytherin house known for the house that has turned up the most dark and powerful wizards, including the villain of the series, Lord Voldemorthimself. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Snape was once a Death Eater and therefore implying his loyalty towards Lord Voldemort (Goblet of Fire). We know very little about the early life of Snape making it easy to believe that Voldemort and his ideologies were something Snape greatly admired, ("Snape knew more curses when he arrived to school then half of the kids in seventh year", according to Sirius Black). Snape had also invented a curse too, Sectumsempra (Half Blood Prince), which is rare for a student. He demonstrated no qualms to use the word "mudblood" (a foul word used for the muggle born or the impure) in the most derogatory sense (as Harry witness during his visit into Snape's worst memory in the Order of the Phoenix). He also fancied a nickname for himself, The Half Blood Prince, highlighting his wizarding heritage. These small facts, when taken together, are indicative to the reasons Snape may have chosen to become a Death Eater. His words and actions throughout the series indicate his need for power and respect, two attributes that the wizarding world accords to the Dark Lord, which may have been the strongest reason behind his decision to be Voldemort's follower and join the Death Eaters in his youth. Snape and Voldemort share the same tactic of intimidation through fear. However, the power and respect accorded to Voldemort was also accorded The Great Dumbledore. Moreover Dumbledore could offer two things to Snape that Voldemort could not and if could would not care to due to his selfish nature, and that is, unwavering trust and true friendship. Snape may have been Voldemort's favourite but he shows distrust in Snape when he appoints Peter Pettigrew to be Snape's assistance in Spinners End (The Half Blood Prince). As for friendship, it is doubtful that Voldemort is capable of such a thing, "Lord Voldemort has never had friends and nor has he ever wanted one" summaries Dumbledore to Harry (The Half Blood ... • 4. Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince By J.k. Rowling Book Summary Harry Potter and the Half–Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling is the sixth novel in the seven–part Harry Potter Series. Each novel primarily details a year in the life of Harry Potter, the main character and protagonist, as he attends Hogwarts, a magic–focused school for witches and wizards, while the seventh and final novel focuses on his experiences directly after. Half–Blood Prince describes Harry's sixth year and final year at Hogwarts. In this chapter of the series, Harry continues with his studies in school, and grapples with the rapidly changing world around him. The overarching plot of both the novel and series chronicles Harry existence as "The Boy Who Lived", a nickname bestowed upon him when he, as a baby, was the only person to survive an attack from Lord Voldemort, an extremely powerful wizard who desires to rid the world of all non–magical people. During this attack, Harry inexplicably was able to vanquish Voldemort, the main antagonist of the series. Voldemort's attempts to return from his dissolution and finish his mission form the chief conflict and backdrop to Harry's adventures at Hogwarts. In Half–Blood Prince, Harry attempts to maintain his routine life in the wake of Voldemort's return to power, unveiled in a battle that resulted in the deaths of several of Harry's friends. He is joined by Hermoine and Ron, his two best friends, who accompany him throughout his journey. Hogwarts plays host to a variety of interesting, magical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Reveiw "When I first saw Harry Potter and the Half–Blood Prince, I exited the theater with an excruciating headache, a lingering sense of emptiness and a very strong desire to punch the film's cinematographer," (Ewing) which relates to the movie Harry Potter and the Half–Blood Prince which stars Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent, and directed by David Yates. In the sixthHarry Potter Saga, Harry goes to school, becomes obsessed with a mysterious book which belongs to the Half–Blood Prince, and goes on a dangerous mission to save himself in the end. Also, Harry tries to attempt to retrieve a memory of Professor Slughorn, which holds a major key to Voldermort's downfall. Towards the end of the movie, Malfoy, Harry's archenemy, secret ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All in all, the directing of the movie quite fantastic the way the critic, Peter Travers, reviews in his article. I approve this comment, "The sixth of Rowling's book to be filmed is that it's an interim tease, all buildup and no release." Actually, Travers defends in his review by saying "like that's bad," because the director of this movie, David Yates, did a great job on build up and release when the movie display a huge surprise to see "... bully... Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), kill wise old Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon). And then there's slithery Severus Snape (the great Alan Rickman) makes a deal to protect Draco." The movie presents Snape helping student, Draco Malfoy, destroy Professor Dumbledore and I applaud the director in which the order of the action occurred. I agree with Travers that the director of this movie, David Yates, did a great job on build up and release when the movie displays the action towards the end of the movie. "What makes Half–Blood Prince top–tier is the descent of darkness on the lives of characters" and setting of the movie, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which creates that dark sneaky feeling you feel when you see the movie. Instead of Hogwarts been that cheery type of school, in the movie you will see the halls mostly gloomy, bare, and deserted. One of the main points of this movie is "getting lost in the hypnotic Half–Blood Prince (and) its haunting power" the Harry Potter fans craves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Severus Snape 's Story And The Side He Actually A Person... Severus Snape is shown to be a person who is not just a strict teacher but also cold towards most people. As the story evolves, we learn Snape's story and the side he actually is on. Professor Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 – 2 May, 1998) was a half–blood wizard who was the son of the witch Eileen Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. James Potter: James and his group of friends were constantly at war with Severus throughout their school years. Severus 's memories, recorded in the Pensieve, suggest that he was an introverted and studious individual, whereas James was arrogant, popular, and athletic. Immediately upon meeting him, James disliked Severus for expressing a desire to be in Slytherin. James 's big crush on Lily, and Severus 's close friendship and unrequited love for her also heightened the tension between the two. One recorded memory in the Pensieve bears witness to James bullying him, turning him upside–down to reveal his underwear in front of many students, including Lily. Lily came to Severus 's defence, but this only made things worse: in a subsequent lashing out at James in an attempt to recover his lost dignity, Severus inadvertently called Lily a Mudblood. Lily refused to forgive him for it, even after his repeated apologies. This would forever be Severus 's worst memory as it was seen by Harry whilst in the Pensieve. Severus noticed that Remus kept disappearing during the full moon and once followed him past the Whomping Willow (after being tipped off on how to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just like Hans Gruber and the Sheriff of Nottingham, Alan was reluctant to take the role of Snape. When Alan was offered the role he said to Chris Columbus, "If i'm going to play him, i'll need to know more about." Rickman had a conversation with Rowling about his character and she gave him a very small piece of information about Snape and he never told anybody what it was. Director David Heyman knew that Alan had been given key information and he admits, "There were times when a director would tell Alan what to do in a scene and he would say "No, I can't do that." Heyman said, "Looking back, you can see there was always more going on in Rickman's performance – a look, an expression, a sentiment – that hint at what is to come... the shadow he casts in these films is a huge one and the emotion he conveys is immeasurable." He grew up as a half–blood wizard in an unhappy family, but found solace in a witch called Lily Evans, a childhood friend. Severus Snape Tragic Hero Severus Snape was the wizard that wore all black, he taught the Defense against the Black Arts, he seemed to hate Harry Potter, and gave a creepy vibe wherever he went. Even though he is not one of the main characters, he is an important character in the Harry Potter story. • 12. Analysis Of The Book ' The Devil ' By Harry Potter Snakes have been seen as a symbol of hatred and evil since the beginning of time. The devil came to Adam and Eve as a snake when he was trying to get them to eat the forbidden fruit. Snakes play a very important role in the Harry potter series and without them, the series would not be complete. Everything revolves around snakes in this story, Slytherin, Voldemort snakes that is one of the horcruxes which is very special, and Voldemort himself he looks like a snake. "While the serpents in the Harry Potter series play a significant role in the text, it is not their life‐affirming characteristics that are highlighted but their negative associations with death and destruction via their involvement with Rowling's malicious villains (Berner & Millman 69)" This quote helps to further explain the reasoning behind the whole world thinking that Slytherin has and will always be bad. The four main reasons as to why the audience thinks that Slytherin is always bad are that all Slytherins are evil, Slytherin can't be brave, Slytherins only care about money and the Slytherin house does not work with the rest of the houses in Hogwarts. All Slytherin are evil is almost like saying that all muslims are terrorists. It's not true. A lot of people like to think that they are evil because it is thought that Harry needed to have a foil or someone to fight against throughout the series, which turns out to be Draco Malfoy. • 13. Aristotle 's Article On The Naked Eye What is it about us humans that crave the insight of another person's life? An even better question, how do we know when someone's life is interesting enough to want to pay attention to it? Aristotle obviously had his ideas in his essay "Poetics", writing about the Protagonist and the Antagonist and how the two will come together to create a story that will serve as entertainment for the masses. To put it in simpler terms you can turn to Bill Yates, a former broadcast and now associate professor and chair of the communications department, who also teaches Movies in America says, "If you can engage a person...then it is a great film."– (Bill Yates) Based off of both descriptions my choice of film would have to be theHarry Potter series. To the naked eyeHarry Potter is just a story about magic and unthinkable evil that nobody would dare to even think to be possible, but that is merely scratching the surface of the deeper meaning of the entire plot. There are many ways you can apply Aristotle's concept to the eight movie franchise of Harry Potter, but we will stick with the basic concept: Albus Dumbledore is a protagonist, Tom Riddle is an antagonist, andSeverus Snape is both a protagonist and antagonist. Albus Dumbledore would fit Aristotle's ideal view of a protagonist because he starts high and ends low, he gains fear and pity from the audience, and he is pushed by an antagonist. • 16. Analysis Of ' The Prince ' Not by coincidence, JK Rowling nicknamed her most complex, morally ambiguous Harry Potter character "The Prince". Severus Snape's royal epithet has more than a little in common with Machiavelli's The Prince, which Rowling, as a student of Classics and Literature surely read. To be Machiavellian, one must be "cunning, scheming and unscrupulous," (OED) and those who belong to Snape's Hogwarts House of Slytherin are "cunning folks [who] use any means / to achieve their ends" (Rowling, Philosopher's Stone, 88). Even firmer parallels are drawn between Severus Snape and Machiavelli's Prince as the texts continue. Severus Snape is not a likable man. Whether or not he is morally good or evil keeps most if not all witches and wizards in his vicinity questioning whether or not he is truly on their side. Harry and his friends spend nearly their entire educational careers trying to reveal Snape as working for Voldemort, and even one of his fellow elite Death Eater's expresses her distrust of him after eighteen years of working together. "I don't trust you Snape, as you very well know" Bellatrix Lestrange, Voldemort's most prized confidant tells him in the dead of night (Rowling, Half Blood Prince, 30). Snape accepts the Machiavellian attitude that "how men live is so different from how they should live that a ruler who does not do what is generally done, but persists in doing what ought to be done, will undermine his power rather than maintain it" (Machiavelli, 54). • 17. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallow Essay Tell the truth! Every person has made this remark. Realistically, each person has their own perception of truth. Truth defined according to Webster Dictionary as that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality. Based on knowledge of the person at that specific time, truth is defined; therefore, truth may vary for different people. Throughout Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow, the characters Albus Dumbledore,Severus Snape, and Harry Potter attend to truth. In the novel, Albus Dumbledore has his own way of defining truth. Dumbledore sees truth through the big picture. He shares enough knowledge to give hints about how to find the truth, but not enough information to state the truth. In the novel, Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour personally delivers Dumbledore's bequests to Harry, Ron and Hermione. This is very unusual for him to come in person. Dumbledore left Ron a deluminator, Hermione the Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Harry a snitch and the sword of Gryffindor (which was not his to give). Scrimgeous then questions each about the importance of each object. The Ministry of Magic is especially suspicious why this amazing wizard left the objects for these three students out of everyone. • 18. Severus Snape Hero Essay What is a hero? What is a hero? According to Merriam Webster, a hero is defined as: "person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities." While that may be the typical definition, there are many variations of the term, such as: the classic hero, the tragic hero, the epic hero, and the anti–hero. Of these four types of heroes, Severus Snape can be easily classified as an anti–hero, however, when Snape's history is taken into account, it can be inferred that he is a tragic hero as well. This controversial potions professor was initially portrayed as a bully with "greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin" yet he serves a crucial role in the Harry Potter series because of the complex journey into heroism.Snape was one of the bravest men in the wizarding world due to his eternal love for Lily, his selfless protection of Harry, and his infiltration of the Death Eaters. These qualities are some of the many things that make Snape a true hero. One of Snape's notable heroic attributes is how he acted as a guardian for the students of Hogwarts throughout the entire series. • 20. Analysis Of The Book ' Snape Is A Fictional Character ' J.... Severus Snape is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling 's Harry Potter series. He is characterised as a person of great complexity, whose coldly sarcastic and controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish. In the first novel of the series, Snape is a teacher who is hostile from the start toward Harry. As the series progresses, Snape 's character becomes more layered and enigmatic. Rowling does not fully reveal the details of his true loyalties until the end of the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Over the course of the series, Snape 's portrayal evolves from that of a malicious and partisan teacher to that of a character of considerable intricacy and moral ambiguity. Although he continuously tried to protect the woman he loved and then later on, the son of the given woman, he was misunderstood by many. Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian and J.K Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are both fantasy adventure novels set in modern times. Cultural, literary, and historic references are found throughout both novels which create appeal for older readers, however, both novels are more targeted towards adolescents' due to the inclusion of adolescent protagonists, pop culture references, and easily understood modern language. Both authors convey very similar ideas, in that, the fear of death can lead to a desire to defeat it, but this is always a fruitless goal. In both texts, Riordan and Rowling convey the idea that their characters as in real life are more complex than they originally appear and their behaviour throughout the texts can often be explained by their past experiences. Additionally, another idea which is depicted is that a key struggle faced in life is the choice between acting in one's self–interest or for the interest of others and for the greater good. The authors in their texts both use varying techniques, such as characters, dialogue, and symbolism to establish these ideas and shape their audience's response. Both texts explore the idea that those who fear death may try to fight it; however, this is a fruitless goal. What about destroying your own life, so much so that you become hated and misjudged just so you can defeat someone. Someone who has killed the girl who you loved all this time, but she never loved you back. This character who I am describing is such an underrated hero. Who is this? Severus Snape, from the Harry Potter series. Snape is by far, the best YA hero. He is loyal to others, selfless, and his failures only make him stronger. To start, a good hero must be loyal to others. Snape is a perfect example of that. From the day that James and Lily Potter were tragically murdered, Snape had to live a double life. • 29. Severus Snape Essay If there was a single literary character that I so vehemently vilified throughout my entire childhood, it would be Severus Snape. Through the eyes of a young, and perhaps ignorant Harry Potter, I saw him as a grungy, cruel, and despicable enemy, incapable of kindness or love. My hatred for Snape reached its climax when he murdered Dumbledore in seemingly cold blood. And yet, by the closing of the series, I recognized Severus Snape as one of Harry's most powerful allies, in one of the greatest plot twists of all time. What transfiguration spell did J.K. Rowling use to change Snape from a foe to a friend? The answer lies in love, true love that transcends beyond a single individual to a love of goodness itself. Harry identified Snape as an enemy early on, an assumption that was not completely unfounded. After all, Snape was quick to punish Harry at every turn, even going as far as to lobby for Harry's expulsion in The Chamber of Secrets. To make matters worse, Snape's zeal for Harry's suffering existed for seemingly no reason. But at the time of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How can love have any transformative strength if the enemy never truly existed? The answer to this is that Snape had the potential to be an enemy to Harry, but through Snape's unrelenting love for Lily–and ultimately, the good–Snape irreversibly switched his path from one of darkness, to one of light. After all, Snape was on track to be quite a nasty character, with his placement into Slytherin, his sense of blood superiority, and ultimately, his desire to follow Voldemort. However, after becoming enamored with Lily and her goodness, Snape was able to see through the seduction of evil, and fundamentally alter his purpose in life in order to protect the greater good. Throughout these novels, protecting the greater good translated to protecting Harry Potter. In this sense, love has the preemptive power to change an enemy into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Who Is Severus Snape In Harry Potter? Harry Potter is one of most well–known wizards of all time–perhaps better–known than Gandalf the Grey himself–and even more so is Harry's eponymous story, a seven–part novel series by the illustrious J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter's readers have never seriously questioned where Harry's loyalties lie, despite his Parseltongue tendencies and connection to the Dark Lord; fans' suspicions have always lain with the other members of the wild, unique, and unforgettable cast of characters that the novels sport. One such ambiguous character is Severus Snape, a man with dubious motives who always wanted to be a little more than just the potions master. From the very beginning, Snape was cast antagonistically: his glaringly obvious favoritism for his house and uncalled for bullying of his students such as Harry and Neville exemplified his far–from–professional approach to teaching, and, in fact, it likely would have had him removed from any educational establishment today. He also joined the Death Eaters–as if the name itself doesn't sound bad enough–they were basically a group equivalent to the KKK and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." Snape was a truly capable wizard who made good and bad choices. Even though there was a lot of confusion and obscure motives behind his decisions, his choices ultimately helped the good guys finally defeat the baddies. The truth is that everyone has shortcomings that make one unique and different, and these foibles are not inherently condemnatory and irredeemable. • 31. Analysis Of Severus Snape Severus Snape is one of the most beloved, and yet most despised, characters in the history of literature. Appearing in the famed novel and movie series, Harry Potter, Snape has touched, warmed, and broken people's hearts since the summer of 1997. When readers first met Snape in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, he was hated and feared as the "teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin." However, it is not until the series nears its end in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, that the readers learn that Severus Snape was cruel and brutal for many reasons. One of the most controversial topics in literature is whether Snape was a villain or a hero. In agreement with the latter, I believe that Snape was a hero because he was selfless and brave. Severus Snape, although appearing ghastly and gruesome, was extremely selfless. The way he treated Harry Potter and a number of other students made him hated and disliked by many. Snape, a strict and feared teacher, appeared to be a very unpleasant person. However, not everything is what it seems. Behind the monster, was a selfless man who would do anything for love. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the readers learn that Snape did everything in his power to shield Harry from Lord Voldemort. After his death on the second of May in 1998, Snape's memories were transported via tear yo the Pensieve, which animates one's memories. His memories revealed that he loved Harry Potter's mother, Lily. He and Lily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Rowling's Novels, And The True Snape Love has been told to have the power to change a man's demeanor, shift a person's values, and create faГ§ades that can hide or affirm the love that person feels. The word faГ§ade is most commonly used in regards to architecture, which defines it as an outward appearance or the face of a building, but it has also come to be tied to the psychology of an individual. A faГ§ade in regards to psychology is associated with an outer falsehood that conceals an internal element of the individual, which they do not want visible. Often they maintain the faГ§ade in order to be more appealing to the person they are affectionate towards. His name itself lends to the idea of him being a difficult teacher. According to Behind the Name, Severus translates to "stern" in Latin, and is tied to the English word "severe" ("Severus") and according to the Online Etymology Dictionary, Snape is also an English verb, which means "to be hard upon, rebuke, revile, snub" ("Snape"). While his name sends out a warning about what to expect from his character, in later books, it is revealed that Snape himself was the object of various bullying campaigns. In Harry Potter and the Order and the Phoenix, Snape's worst memory is brought to light as he is bullied by James Potter and his gang of friends. He is outnumbered and alone, and he did not ask to be tormented by James Potter. When he finally does not have to stand alone in the face of his bullies, he in turn becomes the bully to Lily Evans, who had wanted to save him. It towered over everything, including the tall bristling pine trees that clustered together to make up the Forbidden Forest. His heart thumped so fast and loud that he could feel it in his ears, a strange throbbing took him over as he realized that he could do it. It would be so easy. The pulsing in his body grew, and it was so loud and vibrating, and finally. Finally, Harry let go. As he began to fall away from the tower, his heels rocking backwards until the stone under his feet vanished, and then before the rising of his heart could reach a whole new crescendo someone's hand grabbed his wrist, and his emerald eyes snapped open. Severus Snape glared as he dipped down on one knee, holding the light weight wizard who had nearly fallen to his death, and with unseen strength, the man pulled the teen upwards, and back onto the stone tower. Severus Snape is a good example as a dynamic character in Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling's he is always changing and a surprise of being good and/or evil. I chose Snape as a perfect example to illustrate a dynamic character because throughout the book he changes a lot. For example, the 'clueless blonde' The Breakfast Club movie shows the dumb jock, the "druggie or burn out" but at the end it shows the stereotypical character can also have some twists and shows why they are like the way they are as characters. Starting out as a strict and generally mean teacher, he evolves into a character with a significant background and has many complex layers. Readers see him in the Sorcerer's Stone, book one, as a teacher with a great dislike for the main character, Harry. By the Deathly Hallows, book seven, we see that there is a deeper reason for him to not like Harry, and readers even start to sympathize with him. He's a member of the secret society, and it makes Harry question why he's part of it and why Albus Dumbledore trusts him. Harry believes he's only interested in the Dark Arts and is also not told everything, not allowing readers to know everything either. When Snape is given the job of teaching Harry Occlumency, something that could cut the connection between the young teen and the series' villain, Lord Voldemort, he is extremely unpleasant and rude. • 38. Analysis Of The Book ' Severus Snape ' 1: Character of Severus Snape Severus Snape is shown to be a person who is not just a strict teacher but also cold towards most people. As the story evolves, we learn Snape's story and the side he actually is on. Professor Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 – 2 May, 1998) was a half–blood wizard who was the son of the witch Eileen Snape and Muggle Tobias Snape. Severus was made a member of the Slug Club, presumably because of his brilliance at potion–making, and Horace Slughorn kept a picture of him as a student, clutching his copy of Advanced Potion–Making. Despite this, Horace did not have many hopes for Severus 's future, as his photograph was kept behind many others. Shortly before Lily Evans was murdered by Lord Voldemort, Snape changed sides and became a member of the Order of the Phoenix and double agent during the Second Wizarding War. With tremendous difficulty, Snape prevented Lord Voldemort from learning the truth about his loyalties. Despite the opinions of most others including Harry during his early life, Albus Dumbledore trusted Snape for reasons that were kept between them both until their deaths. When he died, it was revealed that his deep strong love for Lily Evans caused him to redeem himself, joining Dumbledore 's cause at the prospect of her protection (and, after her death, that of her son) from Lord Voldemort. verus Potter in honour of him. One of the most talked characters in the Harry Potter series by J. K Rowling is Severus Snape. The readers get mixed feeling about the character through all the series, and it is not until the end that the truth is revealed. There have been a lot of arguments about this character after the ending of the series. Did Snape die for love? Who was Severus Snape? The complexity of Severus Snape's character makes it hard to understand his role/personality on the Harry Potter series. While he is misconceived as a hero, it is evident that he is a hateful antihero looking for the forgiveness of his dead lover. Through the series, Rowling makes the readers wonder the true role of the complex Severus Snape. Rowling describes Snape as, "a thin man with sallow skin, a hooked nose and greasy, shoulder–length black hair" (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 78). Since the first moment he appears, it is clear all the students fear him for justify reasons. The aura surrounding Snape is pure evil. He makes fun of everybody that is not part of his school house, Slytherin. He takes advantages of the power he has as a professor to bring students down. Both men are incredibly interesting to read about, and in doing so, I have compiled a few key similarities and differences between them. Ask anyone: Who, in their opinion, is the best fictional character ever written? You will surely get an array of different answers. People value different things in heroes. However, I believe there are a few notable personality traits that most everyone can agree make fictional characters truly outstanding. I believe Severus Snape and Sydney Carton are universally good characters. Some may believe it is foolish to compare a timeless and classic novel to a modern story of wizards and magic. Many people dismiss the Harry Potter series entirely, deeming it childish. However, both of these stories have beautifully written characters that I hold dear to my heart. Sure, at first, it is understandable and easy to assume that they are cold, distant, and unlikeable, yet throughout their stories they both prove to be exceedingly clever and brave men who have a great capacity to love and sacrifice. Severus Snape, from the Harry Potter series was, for the most part throughout the books, considered to be a villain. Everything that has happened to Harry has occurred because of Dumbledore, but does that make him purely Dumbledore's boy or is he his own person with agency to do as he wants? After Voldemort murdered Harry's parents, Dumbledore decided to bring baby Harry to his aunt and uncles because "they're the only family he has left now," and he feels "it's the best place for him" (Sorcerer's Stone). Dumbledore is the one that decided to send him to his relatives that underfed him, gave him only a closet, hand me down clothes, become their servant, and be bullied by his cousin Dudley. Later we learn Dumbledore sent him there because of the protection of his family since his aunt was his mother's sister. The protection meant if Voldemort came back and tried to attack Harry in his aunt and uncle's home he wouldn't be able to touch Harry there, but that doesn't justify the actions of his aunt and uncle. For eleven years, Harry was left in the dark about his parents and magic. Dumbledore was the first person to ever show Harry any sort of positive emotion or caring attribute, which could lead to Harry becoming the servant of Dumbledore.
