R&B/POP- bright 80’s clothing- loud and colourful dress codes-playful dancing- song is
revolved around romantic narrative-
HOW DO THE IMAGES RELATE TO THE LYRICS?
Whenever the chorus comes on “i wanna dance with somebody” we see men dancing playful and
attempting to capture the attention of a woman who is also in the frame. Other than this there
isn’t a clear illustration of the lyrics
HOW DO THE IMAGES RELATE TO THE MUSIC?
I think the visuals amplify the fun and upbeat tempo of the music- the visuals are mainly
performance based so there isn’t really a direct link between the visuals and the music. Within
the first minute of the music video there were approx. 40 different shots/cuts
HOW IS THE ARTIST PRESENTED TO ‘SELL’?
Majority of the shots are close/medium shots of the artists face- creates a direct mode of
address with the audience and makes them feel more involved also making them feel a direct
relationship with the artist. The artist is also wearing quite revealing/tight fitting outfits to
highlight her femininity so it could be used to attract the male gaze.
