Product innovation is not about coming up with more ideas. It's about creating an environment where it is safe to fail. Where ideas can be tested cheaply and quickly. In this presentation, Ed will describe simple ways that teams, leaders and organizations can make testing new ideas cheap stolen from Lean Startup, Design Thinking and Continuous Delivery.

From 1 to infinity: how to scale your tech organization, build a great cultur...Federico Feroldi
As a technology leader, one of your most challenging tasks is to bootstrap a new tech organization and grow it to tens or even hundreds of people. In this talk I will share my learnings from 20+ years of experience as member and leader of several tech teams and hacker cultures. We will follow the journey, the successes and the mistakes of a startup founder: starting by himself and eventually growing to a 100+ people organization.

User experiences are your everyday experiences--anything from operating a car, to making a pot of coffee, to ordering a pair of shoes online. User experience is the result of your interactions with a product or service, specifically how it's delivered and its related artifacts according to the design.
In this presentation Nick Finck and Raina Van Cleave will explore the ten characteristics of a great user experience. They will cover all aspects of user experience design such as user research, information architecture, information design, technical writing, interaction design, visual design, brand identity design, accessibly, usability and web analytics. Nick and Raina will also explain how following the ten commandments can boost your web sites, web app, or mobile app's ease of use, appeal, conversion rates, and more.

A lot has been accomplished with regards to technology over the last few decades and as many people have said we are now truly in the “modern age.” Innovation moves so quickly that it seems our world is blurring. In this webinar, discover what groundbreaking technologies and innovative people to watch in 2016 and beyond. We will also discuss as a group how all these advancements can fit into a variety of libraries to make them shine a bright light into the future.
Dark Times for Dark Patterns (Pecha Kucha style)Neil Dawson
A lightning version of the talk Cristina Viganò and I gave at SXSW Interactive 2016, as presented at BIMA's SXSW Hair of the Dog event in London on March 14th 2016.
As designers, we sometimes find ourselves on a knife edge between user needs and business goals. It can be tempting to fall back to “dark patterns” - processes designed to trick users - because they are a shortcut to results. However, the use of dark patterns isn’t conducive to a good night’s sleep. Most of us want to find solutions that don’t resort to deceiving users. This talk explores alternatives to infamous and common dark patterns, with a focus on how we can use psychological principles and persuasive design techniques to meet goals through encouragement rather than deception.
Talking to Architects: How Social Media Can Help - RIBA CPD Providers Networ...Su Butcher
Getting specified by architects is a pretty thankless task. It is difficult enough to get in the door, and since the recession fragmented many practices, finding the door can be a challenge too!
Drawing on her experience of both running architectural practices and working with manufacturers in construction, Su Butcher will explain the challenge of building relationships with architect specifiers, how practice is changing, and why getting your people on social media might be the key that opens the door.
Su illustrates her talk with both horror stories and success stories from her three years consulting with product manufactures, and will set out her10 step guide to an effective social media strategy.
Social Media Monitoring - Putting Marketing and Public Relations at the Centre of the Flow(s)
Presentation from Online Information, 03 December, London Olympia
http://www.online-information.co.uk/online09/seminar_description_online.html?presentation_id=842
"In traditional consumer and audience facing businesses, marketing is often viewed as secondary activity, far from the core of the business. When attempts have been made to measure the direct impact of marketing activities on the bottom line, the results have been less than convincing. It's difficult to determine whether that increase in sales was attributable to an advertising campaign or simply down to consumers being encouraged to go out and spend by good whether or other uncontrollable and unmeasurable influences. To make the impact of marketing activities measurable requires a shift, possible through the use of social media, towards the centre of the organisation. No longer does marketing have to be just about pumping out messages, but can also be about monitoring what audiences and consumers are saying, engaging with them directly, and involving them in business innovation such as refining or creating new products and services, the impact of which is measurable. It's time to bring marketing in from the cold, and to enable marketers be the power brokers at the intersection between involved consumers and the core of your business. This is what we at Headshift call Social Business Design. "

Ori Inbar, co-founder and CEO of AugmentedReality.org, presents the "How to Make the World More Interactive: Augmented Reality as the Interface Between Wearable Tech and the Internet of Things" tutorial at the May 2014 Embedded Vision Summit.
In this talk, Inbar explains how augmented reality, which relies heavily on embedded vision, is transitioning from a bleeding-edge technology embraced mainly by enthusiasts to a mainstream commercial technology with applications in diverse markets ranging from mobile devices to retail point-of-sale systems to enterprise and industrial systems. He also relates the discussion to related trends in wearable computing and the Internet of Things.
Designing the future of Augmented RealityCarina Ngai
Presented on March 4th, 2016 at Interaction16 in Helsinki, Finland.
Until now, augmented reality has so far been mostly a sci-fi vision that overlays visual information to what we see in the physical world. It’s widely perceived as a “cool and interesting feature” for brands and advertising, but doesn’t have much practicality yet. To harness the real power of AR, which includes geolocation, image recognition, we believe that a more utilitarian visual search would be next.
To design for such possibilities, we begin to question even the fundamental basis of AR. For example, what would AR become beyond a rich visual layer? Will this change people’s motivation and behavior to use AR? How can we redefine AR to be a tool to give augmented information on objects? And how we can speculate its usage in the future?

The Internet of Things is Made of SignalsAndy Piper
People. Devices. Smart objects. Things. All of these create data, or signals. Signals, and responding to them in intelligent ways, are what drives behaviour. We’ll look at how the Internet of Things is, in fact, made up of signals – and some of the technology considerations to think about.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
