and child like behavior the by products of the dominating id that overpowers the superego in this

According to A Handbookof Critical Approaches of Literature, the id represents the pleasure
principle of human psyche with instinctual gratification, heedless of consequence, as its one and
only concern. Accordingly, the superego and the ego compete with the overpowering id, which
results in Faustus fall. On the other hand, the superego stands for the inhibiting agent or the
morality principle and the representative of all moral restrictions and the advocate of the impulse
toward perfection (130). Therefore, the ego remains the only factor of the psyche to create a
healthy social balance of the two extremes, which definition justifies the descriptions of the reality
principle or the mediator . However, Faustus id does not leave room for any counteraction from the
superego, or at least not enough, allowing his pride and insolence to completely take over his
personality.

There always needs to be a reason for me to care about anything that I read, if I do not care about
it, then why should I spend my time reading it? A prime example I found of invoking emotion in
a lead was in a story about the Marlins game earlier this week. On Sunday, one of the Marlins

1906 San Francisco Earthquake An earthquake is the vibration of the Earth produced by the
rapid release of energy. Most earthquakes occur at a plate boundary, usually along the Circum
Pacific belt. They tend to be caused by the slippage along large fracture in the Earth s crust, such
as a fault for example. However, they can also occur from a volcanic eruption, or an atomic
explosion. There are two different types of shocks to a major earthquake; there is a foreshock and
an aftershock. The foreshock concedes of smaller earthquakes that precede a major one by some
time period, and an aftershock that concedes of small earthquakes due to the adjustment of the
crust after the major earthquake. Earthquakes affect numerous things, from soil liquefaction to
construction, and the rupture of power, gas, and water lines. There are two ways to measuring the
size of an earthquake, those are intensity and magnitude. The intensity is a measure of the degree
of an earthquake shaking at a given locale based on the amount of damage, measured through the
Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale which bases of the surveys of those whom were affected, and
ranges from 1 to a 12. The magnitude is the total amount of energy released at the source of an
earthquake, which tends to be measured on the Richter magnitude scale. This method is based on

America and its culture into the type of country it is today. It helps to understand these times to
prevent history from repeating itself while better understanding how people were feeling during
that time. Also, to better understand what was happening during that time by reading the literature

the end, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was established. It outlawed segregation in public facilities,
employment, and in education. While African Americans got what they fought for, Women
benefited as well as other minorities (Dudley 147 148). Furthermore, there was no mention of
race in either of the short stories. The last major event was the technological advances that were
being made. The television or TV started broadcasting news through three different channels
that includes CBS, NBC, and ABC. CBS was said to be the leader in the news and in 1974, NBC
stared a monthly new and public affairs program called Weekend (Schmidt 193). The news was
able to broadcast the war in Vietnam so Americans could see what was happening which created a
huge impact on the American citizens. The television shows also started to broadcast shows that
reflected the issues going on in the world at the time such as M*A*S*H, which was about
surgeons during the Korean and Vietnam War (Schmidt 201). The other major technological
advance was when the United States launched its first Earth satellite on January 31, 1958. The
space exploration emerged as a major area of contest and became known as the space race. (Garber

Introduction:
Animal testing is one of the most controversial scientific issues debated around the world. It
questions the right of wild animals to be used in commercial, cosmetics and even for medical
research purposes. Although it happens in most of the world (including New Zealand) today, many
question whether it should go on. Animal testing is generally the use of animals for different
purposes in lab conditions.
Brief history of animal testing and achievements: Animal testing has existed since the 2nd
century BCE through the work of Greek scientist Aristotle (Animal testing Wikipedia). He was
the first one to have made experiments on live animals. The first animal testing experiments was
to find out how our bodies work. For example, the discovery of blood circulation in mammals
was discovered in the 12th century by Arabic scientist Ibn Al Nafis and this was refined later in
the 17th century by William Harvey. Animal testing has also played a vital role in human medical
advances. It has helped developed vaccines to cure diseases such as polio which has almost been
eradicated. It has also have helped humans to have a better understanding of our bodily
mechanisms, function and several diseases. Some diseases that cannot be cured yet can be treated
better due to animal testing discoveries.
