2. Comparing Matthew, Mark, And Luke
Matthew, Mark, and Luke offered various versions to the same story of Jesus returning to
his hometown, teaching his community, and then the community reacting to his
teaching; while these stories had their similarities, they also had their differences. Luke s
account differed the most widely from the other two, and by adding prophetic material
from Isaiah, Luke expounded upon the reason for Jesusbeing rejected by his home town
and offered a reasonable and more detailed explanation for the behavior and the townsfolk
s reaction presented in both Matthew and Mark. The language and meaning within
Matthew, despite some differences, resembled that of in Mark, however the language and
meaning within Luke deviated from the example set forth in Matthew and Mark.
The first time a difference between Matthew, Mark, and Luke was presented, was in the
opening line. Matthew and Mark did not identify Jesus hometown, while Luke says
Nazareth and expanded upon it saying, where he had been brought up (Luke 4:16). Luke
in his account went into a more detailed version of his story, therefore he would not be
satisfied with just hometown (Matthew 13:54, Mark 6:1). Luke throughout his gospel
added more detail than Matthew and Mark in order to clearly articulate the story. He
had to name the town and describe that was where Jesus had been brought up (Luke
4:16). Luke needed to describe all the action that occurred in order to have a sufficient
retelling of this particular story.
3. Comparing Twins
Twins are two offspring produced during the same pregnancy. There are two types of
twins: identical and fraternal. Identical twins are developed from just one fertilized egg ,
which forms to become a zygote, and later splits to form two embryos. Fraternal twins,
on the other hand, each develop from a unique sperm cell. Identical twinsmust be the
same sex, either two males or two females. Fraternal twins, on the other hand, can be
either the same sex or one of each.
In single offspring pregnancies males are five percent more common than females.
However, in twin pregnancies, females are more common than males. This is because
males are already more likely to die in utero than females, and twin pregnancies are also
more susceptible than single offspring pregnancies. Combine these two factors together,
and it s no surprise that twin females are much more common than male twins. ... Show

This means that they share the same set of genetic instructions. However, they are not
clones. In cloning, a embryo is scientifically engineered, split, and implanted, while
identical twins occur naturally. However, the similarities can cause many to refer to
identical twins as natural clones .
Many people get confused about fraternal twins, and can sometimes assume that twins
of the same sex are identical, simply because they look alike. As discussed above,
identical twins are not identical because they look identical. Identical twins are identical
because of how they develop. Likewise, fraternal twin s development determines what
type of twin they are. Fraternal twins develop from two separate, fertilized eggs.
Fraternal twins, then, share much less of the same genetic material than identical twins.
In fact, they share about the same as the average pair of siblings from a single offspring

Tonight, I come for the second time to tell you about what we have been doing and
what we are planning to do (Roosevelt 1). This was said by Franklin D. Roosevelt,
during his second fireside chat to inform his constituents on his approach to the recover
after the collapse. The collapse in the economy was one of the worst times in American
history, and this occurred directly after arguable one of the highest points in American
history. The Roaring Twenties, this change occurred in less than a year. The collapse
happened because people didn t understand the banking system. Everyone rushed into the
banks to withdraw the currency that valued all the money in their account. The banks

Ten million dollars was appropriated exclusively for tribes, and this may sound like a
good thing. Especially since, seventy five percent of the tribal corporations are now
functioning (Stevens 7). However, many native americans problems were unaffected,
and remained(Stevens 7). This was among the biggest mistakes of the New Deal. Ten
million dollars was wasted in a failed attempt to help, with little change to actually
solve their problems. While this was a valiant effort to help, it can t be forgotten that
ten million dollars was wasted. That was ten million dollars that could have actually
helped someone. There were so many other ways to go with that ten million dollars
and they went the wrong way. Then, there was the farmer relief bill, and that if
anything made things worse for the country, as a whole. The Agricultural Adjustment
Administration paid farmers not to raise certain crops and animals. This was later
declared unconstitutional too because of the economic power it gave to farmers. This
program of FDR s was also causing people to starve(). This program was an extremely
misguided effort because as shown, if it did anything it made life for ordinary people
even harder that it already was, or had to
6. The Matrix Is An Icon Of Popular Culture Essay
The Matrix is an icon of popular culture, with phrases referring to it permeating our day
to day language. With idioms like Glitch in the matrix and take the red pill many people
make reference to this (at the time) groundbreaking work of fiction in their everyday
lives. However, most are ignorant of the biggest influences on the franchise as a whole.
India, and more specifically Buddhismhas a permeating influence on the background and
the story of The Matrixtrilogy. The inspiration for this classic trilogy, is derived from a
place of enlightenment. In this paper, I will discuss the instances of potential
inspiration from Buddhism and explaining how they prove that The Matrix has its
roots in Buddhism. Throughout the film, there are several direct parallels to the story
of the Buddha as well as some of the supporting elements drawn from Buddhism.
Among the many examples the foremost that stands out is that of Neo the main
character as a parallel of the Buddha. Others are instances include examples such as the
boy with a spoon. I will discuss the parallels of the Neo s awakening while making some
comments on some of that parallel in the film. First, however I will give a brief
synopsis of the film. The Matrix was a film released in 1999 by the Wachowski Brothers
and it remains a classic even today 15 years later. (IMDb) This cyber punk film was a
blockbuster film based on a myriad of sources, including other stories and shows such as

7. Essay on Aristotle
y does Plato believe that only Philosophers are fit to rule?
Rather than the practical pursuit we are accustomed to, for Plato, Politics is an
intellectual faculty. Governance by non philosophers is to be governed by opinions,
beliefs and self interest; in contrast the philosopher ruler will govern with virtue and
justice with no hidden agenda. The philosopher is in love, in love with learning,
knowledge and truth. It is important to make a distinction here between the acquisition
of knowledge and the acquisition of truth, because knowledge is not necessarily the truth.
With the help of an allegory, Plato explains the sensible world of illusion and belief, the
place where most people reside. The philosopher has stepped outside this ... Show more

The rulers will not own property, nor have money, they will be free of vices, excesses
and desires. They will have a Spartan existence (Plato was an admirer of Spartan
culture). A ruler in Platos society as described in his dialogue The Republic would be
incorruptible, an absolute model of sensible world perfection and justice. If one was to
look no further into Platos utopian society you could be forgiven for thinking that the
philosopher rulers would be the ultimate answer for political duties and government
administration. A more detailed examination of policy and structure is necessary, prior to
arriving at a conclusion.
The structure in Platos society is tripartite and hierarchical, made up of the philosopher
kings as rulers. The auxiliaries who will be in a sort of military role (prospective rulers)
and the artisans (workers) who will produce all the consumable and non consumable
goods deemed necessary for consumption and the continued economic viability of the
society.
The philosopher rulers duties as administrators in platos society or commonwealth are
to legislate, educate and to keep an ever watchful eye on the auxillaries and artisans,
paying special attention to the auxillaries, especially those that are considered fit to be
future philosopher rulers. All auxiliaries will be subjected to a series of tests, which will
check their powers of resistance to self interest, pleasure and other

Comparison Between The Simpsons and Futurama
The word genre can be used to describe several things such as books, films and
television programmes. It means the theme of the book, e.t.c. and in the case of a film or
programme means either horror, thriller, comedy, romantic. It is important that a
programme or film makes clear what genre it is. For example, a horror should make you
cower in fear and a thriller should keep you on the edge of your seat. In the case of a
comedy, which I have chosen to compare, it must make you cry with laughter. What
genre a piece of media is, also helps you to choose the things that you like. I have chosen

to a man who is wearing safety gloves and handling chemicals, which indicates he is

eagerness he expresses to leave, indicates he is related somehow to the previous boy,
as he was also keen to exit and did not like working. Next, it shows a supermarket, with

9. March On Washington March Analysis
I marched in the Women s March in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 21st. I longed to
be with men and women in Washington D.C, but could not make the journey. After
attending the Women s March on Washington panel, I learned you did not have to be
present in our nation s capital for your voice to be heard. The atmosphere of the marches
was indescribable and filled with love. Prior to the march, I was nervous for the marchers
across the world. It was interesting to learn that the students on the panel, did not feel
caution toward this march. For some, it was overcoming the judgment and ridicule they
received from familyand friends. Yet, this march was one of the largest protests in
history, but also one of the most peaceful. I was in amazement... Show more content on

I believe the marches across the globe had the same loving and supportive atmosphere.
The students on the panel believe it is due to female biology. Females tend to not
cause violence or disruption, while males are not communicators and can not express
their thoughts and feelings as well. Also, women are more organized and take on the
mom leader of this organization. For example, one panel member recalls getting fed
snacks all day by the people around her. Women were prepared with snacks, water,
band aids, and winter gear for the chilly weather. The panelist recalled how they only
saw one group protesting the march. I was fearful the March on Washington would
draw negative protestors who protested against equality. Well, it was interesting to learn
the group only saw one anti abortion group by the Washington monument. Though, the
ridicule and protestors were heard after the protest. The panelist and I both believe the
marches were inspirational. While we were marching and surrounded by positive and
loving people, it felt as if we were in our own bubble. Then, once the march ended and
the ignorance of the outside world showed. The panelists handle the supporters better
than I do. They rise above and continue to fight the good fight. While, I question their
thought process and try to learn their ignorance. Overall, I believe the marches were
similar. The panelists encouraged to keep fighting and the citizens of America are the
ones who can make a change in America. I am excited to get involved in this fight and
movement for equality for men and women across the
10. George Ritzer s The Mcdonaldization Of Society
As claimed by George Ritzer in his article The McDonaldization of Society, McDonald s
has succeeded because it offers consumers, workers, and managers efficiency,
calculability, predictability, and control (Ritzer, 12). These four dimensions are the major
components of the model of McDonaldization, a term that Ritzer defines as the process
by which the principles of the fast food restaurant are coming to dominate more and more
sectors of American society as well as the rest of the world (Ritzer, 1). The first
component, efficiency, is the optimum method for getting from one point to another
(Ritzer, 12). Efficiency focuses on creating the optimum method where the food is not
only quickly prepared, but also quickly consumed. Calculability is the second component
of the model of McDonaldization, which places emphasis on the quantity... Show more

It is beyond belief that a company would maintain their control over their employees
through the use of threatening job loss. McDonald s is a multi billion dollar industry that
purposefully creates easily replaceable, low skill jobs in order to escape paying their
employees high wages. These employees are a contributing factor to the success of
McDonalds and I feel that the least they deserve is job security or higher wages. Aside
from the model of McDonaldization, I do not feel that the food produced by McDonald
s is beneficial to our society. McDonald s sells approximately 12 billion hamburgers a
year in the United States alone; these hamburgers are not only high in calories and
sodium, but they are also loaded with unnecessary ingredients that may prove to be
harmful to one s health. McDonald s is an unhealthy choice that many individuals turn to
for a quick and easy meal, but I feel that this fast food chain and McDonaldization is

11. Persepolis Heroism
The Islamic Revolution was a crucial moment in revolutionary history of Iran that
happened in 1979. The author of Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi, was a young girl during
the Islamic Revolution. Persepolis the Story of a Childhood is about Satrapi s life
growing up during the revolution. Marji Satrapi s view point on heroism changes
throughout the course of the story and she learns what it takes to be a true hero.
Heroism plays a major role in Marji s life and affects her throughout the book. At the
beginning part of the story, it is shown that Marji does not have anyone to look up to
in the correct way. On page 17 of The Bicycle , her father says You can participate later

her family but her parents do not serve as that for her. In the middle of the story, Marji
s thoughts on heroism begin to change and she has to learn to stay strong. In the story
Persepolis on page 26, she tells her grandmother It must have been very hard on you.
She begins to see her grandmother as a hero and the strength she has. On page 30,
Marji tells her father, whom she has not seen in a while, I was sure you were dead! Marji

is roughly $60 per day. The enormous cost toward housing these inmates can be
detrimental to the budget as often times a Defendant is awaiting trial for over 12 months.
Many of the inmates housed have also been charged with non violent offenses or have
been charged with offenses that are substance abuse. Many inmates that are been housed
in Dallas County jail have ties to the community with family and employment and would
be candidates for Pre Trial Bond Supervision.
Creating A New Program In creating a new program this will allow many of the inmates
that are currently in custody awaiting child to be released on bond and be supervised in
the community under the new Pre Trial Bond Supervision Program. The Judges would
set minimal and affordable bonds based on the nature of the offense, risk they pose to the
community, employment status and family dynamics. In the creating this new program it
would save taxpayers money, reduce possible jail overcrowding and allow defendant the
opportunity to maintain a somewhat normal lifestyle. This program will also allow those
who have been placed on community supervision and have violated probation conditions
to be released from custody and continue to report to a
13. Fire In The Aeneid
In Vergil s The Aeneid, imagery and description of fire is used heavily throughout each
book. It is sometimes seen in moments of love and creation, but is most frequently seen
at times of destruction and rage. The common thread of each appearance is that fire is
the catalyst that prompts the characters to make a decision or to further an action when
otherwise there likely would be no change.
The unstoppable fire that engulfs Troy, killing friends and destroying their home, forces
Aeneas and his family to embark on their many year long journey. While Aeneas

whom he leads into battle, once Venus reveals that the gods have united in defense of the

Dido first falls in love with Aeneas after being infected by Cupid at Venus command.

with the sight and the more she looks the more the fire grows, signaling that Cupid s
hold over her has grown stronger (853,71). Aeneas tale of woe only strengthens her
adoration of him until she is consumed by the fire buried in her heart (3, 127).
Tentative thoughts of remarrying after her husband Sychaeus death begin to cross her
mind and she finally recognizes the old flame that is slowly consuming her, suddenly
marrying Aeneas one night (30, 128). Yet this fire is short lived and, ultimately, Dido s
downfall. Jove grows anxious for Aeneas to continue on his journey and commands
Mercury to pass along the message that Aeneas and the Trojans must leave Carthage.
Aeneas pleads with Dido that he leaves not of his own volition and that he must obey
the gods wishes, but Dido is furious, alternating between pleading with him to stay and
cursing him should he go. Firm in his decision, Aeneas returns to his ships while Dido
is brought to her chambers. Grief stricken and fixed on dying, Dido begins to construct a
funeral pyre in her courtyard (595, 144). As she stands before her creation, she laments
her choice to trust Aeneas and the Trojans when

Politics and history through an alternative path to self rule
Lagaan (2001), through the setting of Hindi cinema and the popular appeal of cricket,
charts an alternative history of India, from the colonised past of 1893 to an ideal post
colonial future. Using elements of pop culture, the director Ashutosh Gowarikar
transforms the singularity of Champaneer s struggle against triple lagaan, into a
microcosm of an Indian nation s ideal path toward self rule. Notably, this self rule is
ideologically centred ex ante on Gandhi s vision of self sufficient village units, as
mentioned in Hind Swaraj . In doing so, Gowarikar is able to (a) tell the historical tale of
colonial rule and oppression in India, and (b) through dealing with Champaneer s internal
struggles toward becoming a self sufficient village unit, highlight current thorny issues of
Indian politics.
Gowarikar uses the popularity of cricket in India as a catalyst for a nationalistic struggle.
Although the wager is based on the amelioration of economic conditions for Champaneer
(namely triple lagaan versus no lagaan), the bet transforms into a struggle for
independence and self rule through the medium of cricket. To the audience, cricket gives
this marginalised, hitherto unknown village a (notably non violent) medium with which
they can resist colonial oppression. While the villagers fight for the right to pay no tax
for three years, the audience is invited to interpret

the market and explore in deep tentative sites for future stores. In fact, the comparison

market in the census tract with respect to Toronto. First, the Toronto CMA presents an
average of 2.8 persons per private household, which is relatively higher compared to an
average of 2.1 persons for the census tract 5350037. By analysing the market, an average
of 2.1 people is more likely to require a service focused on interior living spaces than
outdoor home improvements, reducing the demand and therefore

Neo Marxists point out that the economic strategies and policies geared towards
impoverishment of the poor states is a direct result of the exploitation of the same
countries by developed nations, which resulted in immense development of the later
countries (Brewer, 1990). While the rich countries accumulate sizeable capital, the poor
states plunged into poverty. Together with the dependency theory postulated by neo
Marxists, World System Theory reflects economic imperialism, which led to exploitation
of emerging economies, without direct political rule (Doyle, 1986). The essence of
struggle for economic power between developed and undeveloped countries of the world
is inter state rivalry and conflict. The United States is one of the developed countries
which have imposed self serving economic policies on developing countries. For
example, the rivalry that existed between the United States and USSR is an explicit
example that justifies the ideas and concepts of neo Marxists in explaining international
politics (Stiglitz, 2002). Arguable, neo Marxists have attempted to assess the increased
inequality between the developed and developing countries, and have attributed it to neo
liberal policies, which have been favored by the new rulers of the world. The
development of the notable theories of neo Marxism namely Modern World System and
Dependency theory have accurately analyse the policies of the new rulers and how

eight children with the potential of being compliant and well behaved in my
classroom are more likely to have a healthy sense of autonomy and accept the power
sharing needed to accomplish the goal. We will also have the ideal relationship for
mutual regulation, with little effort. For the majority of the children, they will have a
less sense of healthy autonomy. These children will connive for equal power shared
between him/her and myself. Time will be wasted here and more effort will be needed

most likely have an unhealthy sense of autonomy and I will fail to accomplish my goals
with them. I can estimate that power demands will be high for this group of children in
respect to a sense of autonomy and autonomy regulation.
Self Regulation and Conscience The age of the children in my third grade classroom
varies from young eight year olds to upper ten year old children. Based off of their ages
I can estimate that the older ones will have a more developmentally advanced form of
self regulation. My older students will have the ability to regulate their fine and

customer needs change. Some of the top competitors in the PC industry are IBM,
Hewlett Packard, Dell and Apple. Theses rivals are constantly jockeying for the top

In the early 1980s the top competitor in this industry was IBM due to its open system
and ease of being cloned. During this same time, Apple struggled to keep pace and
changed its competitive strategy multiple times. From 1980 to 1993 Apple positioned

The next strategy was to return to an old business practice which was Apples premium

advantage.
In 1997, Steve Jobs returned to Apple as an advisory and with the purposes of reshaping
the product line. The changes made by Jobs resulted in increased sales and $309 million
in profits. Job changed the mindset of Apples management and development team. He
encourage them to have the think different management style that promotes the
development of products that are ahead of the technology and design curve, and a
creative retail strategy. It is this strategy that would eventually make Apple the best
selling company in the PC industry.
Jobs also changed the pricing strategy and focused on value based pricing that provided
customers with premium products at a premium price. Product pricing has specifically
set Apple apart from its competitors. Apple believed that they could create demand for
their products which would give the company power over prices through product
differentiation, innovative advertising, ensured brand loyalty, and hype around the

know they are there, and they don t have any effect on the outside world. You can t
escape fate, for we all will end up dead, and we all will eventually be forgotten by
history and the world. What people choose to do with that time is up to them. People live

On the other hand, the dead were stuck in the graveyard ( except when they danced
with the town, and even then, the living couldn t really remember what had
happened). They couldn t leave unless they had a chance to move on, and they really
couldn t affect or talk to any living person unless that person had the freedom of the
graveyard. So in a way, they are trapped in their own private prison, and they only way
out is the life beyond this one. The living have free will, no matter you might think. We
all make conscious decisions to do everything we do, whether it be action, or your

20. What Is The Power Of Nature In To Build A Fire Essay
In the text, To Build a Fire by London, the author emphasizes the idea of man versus
nature by the struggles the man and dog faces through the journey and brings a tone of
unsympathetic and uncaring to the readers this suggestion can bring the elements of
survival of the fittest and the power of nature life. To build a fire takes place on a
snowy area that is so cold when you spit freezes before it even hits the snow. Survival of
the fittest can be described as a humanor anything living that can withstand their
environment and the strongest link that can thrive in harsh environment but the weakest
linkalways dies off, some connections that can tackle the theme of survival of the fittest

The quote shows how nature impacts someone s life by affecting his extremities and
push ideas forward that nature will always be stronger than an average human because
nature is all around us and we can not change the weather and how features were made in
the world naturally so when nature takes effect it will never stop just like a heart that
pumps blood without stopping through the body dramatically affecting the body just as
like to nature. Nature doesn t care what happens to the man because nature is forced. Jack
London shows us that nature s true value lies in the fact that it does not care about
humanity whether he has imagination or not, the man s thoughts mean nothing in the
face of the vast and cold

Social Forces, graduate Ph. D student from Ohio State University, Michael Nau presents
throughout his study the rise of an additional factor that has evidently influenced the
concentration of vast amounts of income among the elite class, income from investments.
In this era, the common beliefs were that demography, labor market institutions, and
technology were causing the inequality to rise and for the elites to produce this

Research Methods:
The Federal Reserve Board s Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) was the study used on
this article for its main analysis. This survey dates from the 1992 to 2010, and includes
the information of household income, wealth holding, and other financial topics. In
addition, the survey includes a subsample of the most affluent households, and groups
them into different categories according to their wealth. However, the edge key that
makes the SCF better than other surveys is the fact that it has more information when it
comes to the different financial situations of the elites. As a result, the SCF is considered
by many experts in the field of finance as one of the best sources on the wealth and
investment behavior of the citizens in the United States.
This SCF survey serves the purpose of being the main method used in this article to test
the hypotheses presented by the author. For instance, to test the first hypothesis, that
income concentration at the top was driven by investment gains, the SCF tracks the top
one percent s investment income. Moreover, to test the second hypothesis, which top
income households increasingly took on the characteristics and behavior of investors, the
status indicators of a variety of investors had to be defined by measures such as if the
household obtains ninety percent of his income from investment or if their financial
assets were
