Objectives
There were several different objectives for this lab. It introduced the
thermomechanical properties of thermoplastics, and provide familiarity with dynamic
mechanical analysis (DMA) of thermoplastics. These DMA results were interpreted
using time temperature superposition (TTS) and the master curve as a design tool,
this could be used to determine the linear viscoelastic range and observe the creep
behaviour of high density polyethylene (HDPE). Gaining familiarity with dynamic
properties of HDPE was also intended for this lab.
Experimental Procedure
The material used for testing was HDPE. Two sample types were used, one
quenched in water and another cooled slowly at a rate of 1В°C per minute.
All testing was carried out using DMA with a cantilever setup. Two different tests
were carried out. For the first test, the HDPE was held at a constant temperature of
31В°C and varying stresses were applied for two seconds at a time, during which the
strain in the sample was recorded.
For the second test, a constant stress of 5MPa was applied while the temperature was
increased inside the furnace of the DMA setup. This was achieved by heating the
sample to one temperature for 10 minutes and holding at that temperature while the
constant stress was applied, then heating again and holding, and so on. Strain was
again recorded at constant time intervals for each temperature.

The Faculty Jazz Ensemble was on Monday, November 9 in the Westbrook Music
Hall. The Performers included Peter Bouffard on guitar, Paul Haar on saxophone,
Dave Hall on drums, Tom Larson on piano, Hans Sturm on bass, and Darryl White
on trumpet. The first piece was A Cord of Three Strands composed by Darryl
White. It was in a minor mode and was in triple meter. The piece started off with a
calm piano dynamic and homophonic texture with the trumpet playing the melody
over the drums, bass, and piano playing a countermelody underneath. The trumpet
soon fades out with a cadence and the saxophone comes in with a deeper more
calming sound than the trumpet, again with a homophonic texture. The piece
reminds me of a calm pouring rain. When the saxophone and trumpet are included,
the rain picks up and when it is just the drums, bass, and piano it is like a slight

Kellymae, was in fact, no normal girl. I guess you can say that she had some sort
of gift . However, she didn t necessarily like this gift , she was always picked on as
a kid for it. Even by her aunts and uncles, they always told her to knock it off, that it
s not funny, stop with these childish games . But she knew these things weren t
funny, heck, she didn t ask to be able to see them. If it was her choice, she wouldn t
ever want this this stupid, stupid gift.
She first realized her sixth sense, as she called it, when she was five. Her guardian,
who was her aunt, let her play outside with some neighbors. Kellymae saw a little girl
, about her age standing behind a tree, peeking at them. She had long black hair that
Miki ? That s such a cute name! Kelly said excitedly, It fits you well too! I have to go
now, I ll see you tomorrow Miki!
She never got to though, her Aunt telling her she had to move in with another
family, like she always did. But moving wasn t the issue, the issue was that she
never got to say bye to Miki, the little girl in the pink sweater.
Kellymae moved out of her aunt s house that following night, and didn t get to see
Miki or the others again. Instead, she moved in with a childless couple into a whole
different city. The couple was very sweet and loving, unlike anything she got from

He first states that all wars are sinful, but if it is justified it is not a sin; however, I
feel that just because one has authority over others, this shouldn t mean that he is
excused from sin because of his stature; thus his reply is bios. The second necessity
is that a just cause is required in order to wage war.
