3. Uncovered
The plot in our opening sequence revolves around a young man who is
married with two kids. He discovers that his wife is having an affair
and in a jealous rage he carries out a spiteful murder and kills his
youngest son, and disposes of his body in a rucksack in which he then
buries in a hole in a local park.

Uncovered would be distributed independently as an art house film to independent cinemas such as The
Picturehouse on a selected , This is because Uncovered is a British film made on a budget with unknown
actors and due to the genre conventions of thriller films being challenged.
We would choose to distribute Uncovered through Pathe UK because they have major presence within
the UK industry, also because they have distributed the independent thriller film Memento(2000), this
is because Memento is similar to Uncovered in the sense they are both thrillers and both feature a
male protagonist and challenge the conventions of thriller films.
In uncovered we are introduced to the male protagonist who is digging a hole for something to be
buried. In a full length film this would be where the film reaches the highest point of drama and
action, therefore we would not expect to see this in an opening sequence. In memento a backwards
sequence is shown and colour sequences are shown in reverse chronological order, and just like
uncovered both actors speak to an unnamed telephone caller who is not shown on screen.
