 In his role as the chief executive officer of Plexos Group, Kirk
Fisher serves industrial, corporate, and government clients. In
addition to operating his own real estate company, Kirk Fisher
teaches Operations Management and Quality Assurance at
Louisiana State University, which focuses on business strategies
such as Total Quality Management (TQM).
Developed in Japan, the TQM business model is based on the
belief that everyone involved in the production and use of a
product, from managers to suppliers to consumers, is
responsible in some way for the overall quality of that product.
The strategy focuses on the processes used in production,
requiring companies to identify individual steps, track and
measure the performance at each step, and then use that data to
make improvements. This strategy requires the participation of
all employees and departments, with the ultimate goal being
increased customer satisfaction.
TQM focuses on process improvements over the long term as
opposed to financial gains in the short term, as well as the
elimination of waste and inefficiencies.
