WHAT IS “CAS?”
 To obtain knowledge from classes are important part of
school activities. However, classes are not only the school
offers to you. Our school also offers various life experiences
including extracurricular activities, team projects and
services to the others.
 CAS offers to integrate your whole experiences within
school as your life development of a global citizen who is
able to understand what is going on and what the one
should do in such a unforeseen circumstances of today’s
world.
 You should know HOW do you shape your own life and what
you have to think or behave when you are facing any
difficulties in your life, CAS may tell you how you manage
your own ways.
TO UNDERSTAND WHY CAS IS
NECESSARY FOR YOU
CAS does not mean you do something outside
classroom, CAS stands for your learning
experiences. We hope you that you will learn
something from what you have done, not just
you enjoyed your activities.
In order to develop your life skills, you will be
asked to relate or integrate your class activities
and the other activities. Learning in classroom is
a little part of your learning, please be aware
that every single seconds, you learn something!
TO BE AWARE OF
THE IMPORTANCE OF CAS
The school, in particular your CAS Coordinator
will assist you to have opportunities to enrich
your experiences.
CAS and TOK relates very close, also group
subjects and EE are related to each other. CAS
does not stand alone, so keep in mind that ALL
IBDP subjects are mutually related .
“Service Learning” is one of challenging
opportunities for students. Learning through
activities and services, working with people
from different social or cultural backgrounds.
TO BE AWARE OF
THE IMPORTANCE OF CAS
Each of you has to belong to one or more CAS
project(s).
Engaging the CAS projects will develop your human
skills, including self-management, interpersonal
communication, teamwork, leadership,
responsibility and so forth.
You are asked to practice your own knowledge and
your life experiences at CAS projects. To work with
others and work for the others will give you various
standpoints or values that are different from yours.
You need manage your plan to carry it out
successfully.

CAS STAGES FOR SERVICE LEARNING
 “Being reflective” is one of the IB Learner’s profile.
 Reflection is central to building a deep and rich experience in
CAS (from CAS guide P.26)
 The overarching intention of reflection in CAS includes;
 deepen learning
 consider relevance of experience
 explore personal and group values
 recognize the application of knowledge, skills, and attributes
 identify strengths and areas for development
 gain a greater understanding of self and others
 place experience in a larger context
 generate relevant ideas and questions
 consider improvements in individual and collective choices and actions
 transfer prior learning to new situations
 generate and receive constructive feedback
 develop the ongoing habit of thoughtful, reflective practice.
BEING REFLECTIVE
–ONE OF LEARNERS’ PROFILE
 All CAS students are required to submit CAS Portfolio as
your evidence of your learning achievement through
your activities.
 CAS Portfolio is the showcase your achievement – your
learning outcome. This is not just a collection of your
work, but your records of 2 years of your learning
experiences.
 This portfolio includes your works and reflections.
 If you keep this portfolio, you are able to show your
learning evidences and use it when the CAS interview.
