USE OF WE IN ESSAY
INTRODUCTION
What is an Essay?
An essay is a formal piece of writing on a particular topic. There are several types of essays, but the requirement
of formal tone is mandatory in all essay types.
A formal party has been organized by any of your friends over this weekend.
What sort of outfit will get preference? Will it be a new knee-ripped jeans or
tie and dye t-shirt with a pack of crisps in hands, hands-free plugged ears, and
a pair of flip-flops feet? Will it be the best attire one can carry for the formal
evening?
Ofcourse not! It sounds very casual or in another way, it may be stated that the attire or the look of a particular
person is not as per the expectation of that particular occasion.
Similarly, what would be the expectations from a candidate of speech
competition in terms of content? Which communication style will be
opted by the candidate to inspire the audiences? Expectations are of the
use of formal tone and it is understood that slang language, or a very
informal tone like stand up will not be welcomed by the audiences.
The best choices are those which are opted after evaluating the situation
or fit well in a particular situation. The use of formal tone and body
language represents a strong grip on subject knowledge, attitude and effective grammar will add value to content.
Formal essay writing is directly linked with formal way of communication. Our previous practices show that
formal essay of communication is easily used in any speech competition or a very formal discussion. But, formal
language cannott be used in informal friends’ gatherings.
This formal and decent way creates a bond between a reader and author or the audience and a presenter. Formal
ways of communication allow to earn a good name and to set the pace of the environment accordingly. It also
helps the presenter to connect or gel in with the audience.
The below tips are the key to making your essay more effective and appealing to audiences.
Below pronouns are prohibited to use in an Essay.
 I
 Me
 We
 Us
A listener or reader can be amused with pronouns expressions. But this informal way of writing can make a writer
less worthy and presents the writer as under-confident. These kinds of essays can be an easy way to increase the
word count of any topic.
The reader can evidence the thought process, opinions and feeling of a writer. But this ease can lead to the use
of the unexpected chance of strong expression phrases. Avoid using “I understand”, “I required” or “in my point
of view”.
For Example:
1. I think this boy in the story is confused.
More appropriate way: The boy is confused.
(It is easily noticeable that the second sentence is consists of few but effective words).
2- We read different books on a human wide range of interests and hobbies.
More appropriate way: Several books have been read on human's massive range of interests and hobbies.
3- Global warming has affected us badly.
More appropriate way: Global warming has affected everyone on this planet.
4- Above quotes are telling us that no one has experienced this weather before.
More appropriate way: Above quote reveals that the weather is changing drastically.
5- Now, we can see why…?
More appropriate way: It is proved, why…?
6- I have collected the data of Alliance Merchandising Corporation.
More appropriate way: Data of Alliance Merchandising has been collected.
While writing an essay, refrain from the use of first and second-person pronouns or personal pronouns. It is
preferable to use the person’s name to avoid the use of the pronoun.
For example:
1- Cats rub against you.
More appropriate way: Cats rub against their owners.
Another set of words for gaining the attention of the audience can be, “students”, “observer”, “listener”, “reader”
etc. with the help of this strategy audience can be attracted and excessive use of words would be saved. It may
be hard for a beginner to avoid the use of we or I or us in an essay but the impact of the use of formal tone has a
much larger impact.
For Example:
1- We can sense the listener’s misunderstandings.
More appropriate way: The listener’s misunderstanding can be sensed by the reader.
Challenge of communicating without “WE”
Writers are aware of the fact that the use of personal pronouns is strictly prohibited
in an essay or research report. Writing a formal essay or academic is very different
from a personal essay. It sets a tone of a proper sense of language excluding
informal or casual words.
Few tips to facilitate the beginners:
1- Use of passive voice.
2- Use of a person’s name to avoid the use of pronouns.
3- To avoid you, use a general statement.
The above practice proves that refraining from the use of pronouns decreases the word count. To increase the word
count and enhance the quality of content here below are some useful tips for beginners.
1- Use of phrasal verbs
Phrasal verbs are an essential part of any essay or topic. It helps the reader to understand a sense of the text without
providing extra and immature details about the topic. Without talking directly to the reader, twisting words and the
use of synonyms is quite effective here.
2- Use of Thesaurus
Thesaurus is the great handy word bank that lets the explorer explore the diversity of the word through the same
meaning but in a different way. Provides an opportunity to pile up the tower on the top of synonyms bank which
can further lead to many other topics or related searches.
3- Figurative Language
Figurative language is considered the best friend of writers as it improves the quality of content in terms of
comparing, grabbing readers' attention, dramatize the situation, and supports imagery.
Conclusion
Essay writing is a fun job to do, however, one may feel stuck sometimes. But that is the golden moment to buck up,
gather courage, and start with zeal and enthusiasm. Always remember,
“Just when the caterpillar thought her life was over, she began to fly.”

What is an Essay? - How to Write a Good Essay - essayassignmentwriting.com

  • 1. USE OF WE IN ESSAY INTRODUCTION What is an Essay? An essay is a formal piece of writing on a particular topic. There are several types of essays, but the requirement of formal tone is mandatory in all essay types. A formal party has been organized by any of your friends over this weekend. What sort of outfit will get preference? Will it be a new knee-ripped jeans or tie and dye t-shirt with a pack of crisps in hands, hands-free plugged ears, and a pair of flip-flops feet? Will it be the best attire one can carry for the formal evening? Ofcourse not! It sounds very casual or in another way, it may be stated that the attire or the look of a particular person is not as per the expectation of that particular occasion. Similarly, what would be the expectations from a candidate of speech competition in terms of content? Which communication style will be opted by the candidate to inspire the audiences? Expectations are of the use of formal tone and it is understood that slang language, or a very informal tone like stand up will not be welcomed by the audiences. The best choices are those which are opted after evaluating the situation or fit well in a particular situation. The use of formal tone and body language represents a strong grip on subject knowledge, attitude and effective grammar will add value to content. Formal essay writing is directly linked with formal way of communication. Our previous practices show that formal essay of communication is easily used in any speech competition or a very formal discussion. But, formal language cannott be used in informal friends’ gatherings.
  • 2. This formal and decent way creates a bond between a reader and author or the audience and a presenter. Formal ways of communication allow to earn a good name and to set the pace of the environment accordingly. It also helps the presenter to connect or gel in with the audience. The below tips are the key to making your essay more effective and appealing to audiences. Below pronouns are prohibited to use in an Essay.  I  Me  We  Us A listener or reader can be amused with pronouns expressions. But this informal way of writing can make a writer less worthy and presents the writer as under-confident. These kinds of essays can be an easy way to increase the word count of any topic. The reader can evidence the thought process, opinions and feeling of a writer. But this ease can lead to the use of the unexpected chance of strong expression phrases. Avoid using “I understand”, “I required” or “in my point of view”. For Example: 1.
  • 3. 6- I have collected the data of Alliance Merchandising Corporation. More appropriate way: Data of Alliance Merchandising has been collected. While writing an essay, refrain from the use of first and second-person pronouns or personal pronouns. It is preferable to use the person’s name to avoid the use of the pronoun. For example: 1- Cats rub against you. More appropriate way: Cats rub against their owners.
