This document provides an overview and introduction to Graduate Medical Education (GME) and the role of program coordinators. It begins with welcoming the attendees to a presentation on GME basics. It then explains that GME involves residency and fellowship training programs and that program coordinators have different titles but serve to administrate these programs. It also outlines the key requirements from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) that programs must have a program director and coordinator. Finally, it introduces the Graduate Medical Education Administrators Section (GMEAS) as a resource and its mission to support program coordinators.
