Wednesday ASSURE
This class is an 11th grade World History class with 22 students. Of these 22
students there are 10 boys and 12 girls. There are also students from
different backgrounds including: 5 from England and 3 from France. This
class is a very visual learning class who prefer to have items that are being
discussed right in front of them. For this day we will be learning about some
of the Historical Artifacts from different countries.
For this assignment we will be learning about some of the historical artifacts
from different places in the world. To accommodate the students who are in
the class, we will be dealing specifically with the Statue of Liberty, Big Ben,
and the Eiffel Tower. The point is for students to learn how these items came
to be historical, how the countries gained them, and what significance they
have outside of their respective countries.
This assignment will be completed with Secondlife and twitter. Students will
have the opportunity to travel to each of these locations and receive a tour
for each one. Then students will be able to follow these artifacts on twitter in
order to receive photos, historical information, or any info about events that
may be taking place there. After learning about these three artifacts, students
will pick an artifact that we did not cover to learn about. To learn about this
new artifact, students will use Google and YouTube to find information.
Technology that will be used for this lesson includes Secondlife, Twitter,
Facebook, Google, and YouTubee
To review these artifacts students will be able to follow these artifacts on
twitter in order to receive photos, historical information, or any info about
events that may be taking place there. After learning about these three
artifacts, students will pick an artifact that we did not cover to learn about.
Then students will create a Facebook page about the artifact they choose, and
post whatever information they find as historical, relevant, and interesting.
The page must tell where the artifact is, why it is historical, and events that
they have there (if any), and when it was built (if it was built). The students
must also post 5 things on the page that involve this artifact (videos, quotes,
pictures, etc.).
Students will be expected to have 100% accuracy in the process of this
assignment as well as the information that they place on the Facebook page.
If students do not complete the twitter follow or the Facebook page then the
assignment is incomplete. By not completing the information required or the
5 posts on Facebook then students will lose 5 points per missed assignment.
