Dance Psychologist’ website for
my second website research.
Although this website is not for a
documentary I really liked the
aesthetic and tone of the website.
The content also ties in really
nicely with two key topics I will
cover in my documentary; dance
and psychology

3. DIGITAL CONVERGENCE
One of the main features on the
home page of The Dance
Psychologist is social media
The Instagram feed for the company
takes up a large amount of space on
the home page which, when clicked,
lead directly to the Instagram
account
Tweets from Dr Clements herself are
also used and again, lead directly to
her twitter account
She also uses a lot of hashtags and
tags other companies and people in
order to encourage audience

4. BRAND IDENTITY
This website uses a very minimalistic
colour palette which is mirrored in the
Instagram account to ensure brand
identity
The same font is used across all pages
and varying sizes and colours is all that is
used to make various parts stand out
The whole website is also from a first
person perspective of Dr Clements, as is
the Instagram account, this makes the
brand feel very personal and
approachable for the audience

5. INTERTEXTUALITY
Again, I found no intertextuality on this website, again perhaps
because of its scientific nature
It did, although have many references to various ballet shows and
dance colleges that may only be of relevance to those working or
training to work in the dance industry

6. EASTER EGGS
In terms of eater eggs, there was no special content on this website
but there were a lot of hidden buttons linking to social media pages
All of the logos for social media that are present on the page take the
user directly to the corresponding The Dance Psychologist social
media account or website
This included links to websites I didn’t expect such as The British
Psychology Society

ATTITUDES AND
BELIEFS
Due to the first person approach of this
website, the opinions shared are all that
of Dr Clements herself
However, there are very few controversial
opinions on the website, despite the
colloquial approach, particularly of the
‘blog’ section
Dr Clements gives a scientific opinion of
dance and how best to manage mental
health as a dancer which is a very modern
attitude that in. the dance industry is
often ignored
The ‘links’ page also offers helpful sites
for people suffering with mental health as
dancers so the website is very helpful for
those using it.

8. IDEAS
I really liked the first person approach of this website as I felt it made
it more relatable and friendly, I may try to take this approach in my
website, being from the point of view of my presenter
I also likes the minimalistic and modern design of this website, I felt it
was much easier to navigate than the BBC Three website and this was
much more useful
I also really liked the use of digital convergence ad how seamlessly it
was embedded into the website so much so that audiences may not
even realise they are being redirected to a social media site
I feel as though easter eggs to exclusive workshops or show tickets
could have been used on this website, and humorous intertextuality
among the dance industry was also a possibility , perhaps something I
could use in my website instead.
