2. Instagram is a social media website that consist mainly of pictures. Once a user is registered it allows the user to upload
any picture they desire and share it with their followers. When you upload/take a picture with Instagram it allows you to edit
the photo in app with different filters the company has made available to change the effect. The social media shared on
Instagram can also be shared instantly on your Facebook profile by simply linking it to your Instagram account. While most
people simply post pictures, Instagram does give you the option to add text/captions to your photos as well. Much like Facebook,
you are able to comment on others photos and “love” them by clicking the heart icon. As of recent Instagram has also added
the option to share video on the site.
3. Facebook is the one of the top social media sites around.
It is said that this site is used by over 1 billion people
each day. Due to the ease of use, this site is used by both
young and old It is not only for personal use but you see
many celebrities, corporations and small business’s
utilizing the site. Facebook allows you to share both
video, and pictures like many other social media sharing
sites.. It is a convenient way to keep in touch with long
distance family and friends, for small business’s to get
the word out about their products, and for keeping up to
date on your favorite band. Facebook is for more than
fun, as it can also be used for video conferencing with
clients, as I do with my photography business. It also
allows you to create groups such as the one I joined for
the photography class here at Neosho, that allows me to
keep in contact with and share photos with other
students in the class as well as the teacher. Facebook is
versatile in its many options for use, and that’s why it is
my favorite social media site.
4. Snap chat is another social media site that is based on photos.
However, unlike Instagram, snap chat photos disappear 10
seconds after they are viewed. The Snap Chat user “snaps” or
takes a photo, writes a message if they choose, and it is then
instantly sent to the snap chat user of their choice. Once that
user opens the message they have 10 seconds, to look at or
read it. Once the 10 Seconds passes, the message is then gone
unless the user has taken a screen
Shot. As of recent snap chat has made it possible for users to
pay 1.00 to replay the “snap” up to 3 times.
5. Tumblr is known as a blogging website. It allows users to create
blogs to share media content and talk about topics they are
interested in. One of the cool things about this site is that you
can schedule when you want posts to appear on your blog. For
instance, say you want an update to appear at 1pm but you
know that you’ll be out at this time, you can simply add the
media, and text you want shared, save it and at the time you
designate it will automatically be posted to your blog for you.
Tumblr developers call this “Que-ing”.
6. Vine is a website where users are able to upload short videos that last
anywhere form 10-20 seconds. Once uploaded, anyone can see it and it
is played on a loop. Each video that is uploaded is categorized
into “channels”. There are a tons of channels such as, comedy, dance, style
food. Vine has pretty much everything you can think of wanting to watch.
7. YouTube is another video sharing website. Users create accounts and upload videos to the page,
Which is also referred to as their “Channel” in keeping with the TV theme of the site. You can find
anything from music videos, to dance tutorials, or even learn a language. I use YouTube to get further
clarification on things in math that I am having a hard time understanding. I think it’s a great tool for
education and research. YouTube allows you to follow the channels of those you like and also allows you
to comment your thoughts on the videos after you have watched them. Many musicians use YouTube to share their
Music, and be “discovered”.
