More than 50% of NVL activities are carried out in cooperation with other
organisations and through networks (2019 / 213 organisations co-operate
with NVL). 12 active networks and working groups in 2019
Development work is based on relevance and needs in
the countries and should create added value through
Nordic cooperation.
NVL promotes cooperation among the networks.

6. Core tasks of NVL – point of departure from NVL networks
NVL promotes the development and implementation of LLL strategies.
Supports policy development for lifelong learning and competence
development in the Nordic region. Uses the Nordic network potential
nationally.
NVL collects, develops and communicates relevant and new knowledge
to and organizations, networks that work with adult learning in the Nordic
countries.
NVL supports Nordic co-operation and knowledge sharing across sectors
and countries through meeting places - both physical and digital.

8. Nordic Co-operation
• Separately, the Nordic countries are small.Together, we
have a population of 25 million and make up the 10th
largest economy in the world.
• Nordic Council of Ministers is the official governmental
cooperation and has rotating presidencies:
o 2017 – Norway
o 2018 – Sweden
o 2019 – Island
o 2020 – Denmark
o 2021 – Finland

Themes in NVL: from the strategy of the NCM, expectations from
the countries, EU initiatives:
- basic skills improvement (basic digital skills 2019-2020; numeracy and
mathematics in daily life and at work (2020-2021);
- development of adult digital competences for participation in society;
access to learning, sustainable development, mobility, etc. Continuous
exchange of experience and transformation of local / national practice (2020-
2022);
- transitions between education and work and in working life and recognition
of competences, the role of guidance (2020-2022)
- competence development of educators (2020-2021)
