  4. 4. UNI•C in brief• UNI•C is an agency under the Ministry of Children and Education with a status as an governmental organisation. Primarily we solve tasks for the Ministry of Children and Education, educational institutions and schools.• UNI•C has approximately 370 employees and is geographically located in Copenhagen, Lyngby and Aarhus.• In 2011, UNI•C’s turnover was approx.   6. 6. Examples of UNI•Cs tasks• Emu.dk – at this website teachers and pupils find the most relevant resources for teaching. There is about 160,000 unique users in one week.• ForældreIntra (Parents’ Intra) – parents log on to Parents’ Intra about 70 million times in one year to monitor their childrens schooling.• Optagelse.dk – online young people apply for admission to youth and higher education. 140,000 applied via Optagelse.dk in 2011.• The Danish Research Network – Forskningsnettet – 100,000 students and teachers communicate via high-speed network for Danish universities and research institutions.UNI•C in brief21-02-2012 6

Examples of UNI•Cs tasks (ctd.)• Uddannelsesforum – leaders, teachers and other professionals from the educational sector meet at Denmark’s biggest conference on learning, ICT and media.• UNI•C serves the Ministry of Children and Education, the Danish Parliament and the educational sector with statistics and analysis underlying political and administrative decisions.• Administrative staff at vocational college and university colleges are using UNI•C’s services to manage all aspects of educations, pupils, students and economy.• UNI•C advises on new ICT initiatives – both for use in the educational and research sector and for use internally in the Ministry of Children and Education.UNI•C in brief21-02-2012 7

  30. 30. UNI•C Intranet- The first school we saw Grønsdalsvænget school, made ​a great impression on me because of the method they used. We saw older students teach younger students, so the older learned something about the subject, while they taught – and the younger of course learned a lot.- Ill tell about it when we get home, because it seems like a good and effective method, said Tiger Leap’s Director, Enel Mägi, after the visit.21-02-2012 30
